[Q] MX player on Nexus 9 - how to get it working? - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT: The developers got back to me, here's the link to the test build for Lollipop support:
"We have already released a test build which can run on Lollipop

Notes:
1. MX Player Pro Issue: Due to a license validation bug in Android 5.0, it may crash. Google has acknowledged the issue & will be fixed. We are also looking for alternative work arounds. We recommend to use free version till that
2. H/W+ is not supported. (we are working hard to fix this issue as soon as possible)

Original question:
Hey guys, does anyone know how to get MX Player to work on a Nexus 9? It just says "Unsupported Android version" and the app shuts itself off. Any known workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'll wait until the pro version works...

MX player has a solid track record of taking a while to support new devices. I bet they have something out in a week.

V Player works
I use v player from the playstore until mx is updated.

[Q] Is there any type of work-around to get Flash videos working with ICS?

I went to install the flash player on my Verizon SGS3 and I see this note in the Google Play page.
*** NOTE: FLASH PLAYER IS NO LONGER BEING UPDATED FOR NEW DEVICE CONFIGURATIONS. FLASH PLAYER WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED ON ANY ANDROID VERSION BEYOND ANDROID 4.0.x ***
While Flash Player remains on Google Play for installation on Android devices that are certified by the manufacturer, installing Flash Player on an uncertified device may result in unexpected behavior and can potentially destabilize your device. A list of certified devices can be found at http://www.adobe.com/go/certifieddevices. Flash Player WILL NOT be supported on any device shipped with or upgraded to an Android version beyond Android 4.0.x
Personally this stinks for me because I like to use sites other then just YouTube, like LiveLeaks.com for example. I've searched Google and XDA only to find the question asked a bunch of times and there is either no answer to the question or people are told to try a different browser. I've tried 3 browsers myself and none of them work. (Android, Chrome, and Dolphin HD)
Has anyone else gotten flash to work with their SGS3, and if so... how?
Thanks
I installed the flash 11 from play store and it seems to be working fine for me...websites with flash content which were not working earlier worked for me...just try it and see....i am using at&t s3

The flash player should work in the market. Just make sure you don't use chrome.

I did an uninstall/reinstall of Flash and have gotten it to work with Dolphin HD browser. Only issue now is the videos start out pixelated for about the first minute then seem to work normal. I have seen some other posts mentioning the audio and video don't seem to match up and I haven't ran into that problem yet.

MX Player Pro and Nabi 2 (4.1.1.) Has stopped working

We have two Nabi 2 tablets that have both been running MX Player Pro (licensed through Play Store) for quite some time without problems. Last night I checked to make sure they were ready for a trip and found that neither would work.
About a month back Nabi released a patch for their OS which was listed as including Google/Android security patches. I don't know if MX has been updated after that update.
I reinstalled MX Player Pro on both tablets and received the following message:
Component files are corrupted or Android internal modules are not compatible with current version of MX Player.
I installed the non pro version with the Tegra 3 codec and they seem to be playing correctly. How can I get the pro features back?
Try downloading it directly from MX Player site:
https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/download
Updated: So, I thought, that perhaps, the Pro version just wasn't asking for the Tegra 3 file and decided to see what happened if I installed regular MX, the Tegra 3 file and then MX Pro. Answer, it worked.
I then uninstalled MX regular...and Pro still worked. I then rebooted the tablet (just to make sure) and it still worked.
Should the status change you will know by my screams of pain as we make a long trip tomorrow and two boys without movies = one dad without sanity.

Video playback problem, blocky, corrupted but with sound OK

Hi,
This is in the Twitter app but also Firefox as well as Chrome (see attachements). To begin with after app start the video is sometimes OK for a few minutes and then suddenly gets screwed up. I've searched around for a fix here on XDA and elsewhere but can't see anything.
Device: LG G Pad 8.3
Android: 4.4.2
Firmware: v50020F
Hi, I still need to fix this as I don't want to update to a later ROM.
I used this test page and its the h264 codec that won't play properly.
This is "omx.google.h264.decoder" in media_codecs.xml ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenMAX ).
I think I need to to install updated codex somehow such as the "OMX.ffmpeg.h264.decoder" which I'm finding references to from around 2014 (same era as this device/ROM).
Does anyone know how to do this ?
The video codecs are limited to what is supported by the device. This means that the codecs are in firmware and not software codecs like you are used to on the computer.
