[Q] Can't pair Gear S and BT Headset at same time for voice? - Samsung Gear S

Before we being, I am not using a Samsung phone. This is a HTC M8.
This is what I get when I have both my Gear S and Gear Circle connected to the same device.
Notice on the Gear Circle it says "no phone"

When you paired Gear S to your phone, all phone calls are handled by Gear S, not your phone. Hence, your Gear Circle shows no phone. You should pair your Gear Circle to your Gear S instead if you intend to use it for phone calls.

I did and it doesn't accept calls or anything

So apparently BT headset, even if connected to your watch only works when youre using the gear S as a standalone.
I disconnected my gear S from my phone and BT headset worked with the watch but not when I would be making or receiving a call from the watch.
So damn stupid.
This whole thing is so limited its getting frustrating.

I assume when your Gear S is connected via BT to your phone, it uses BT protocol to handle phone calls which still occurs on the main phone. So, in turn, it can't relay it to a BT headset of its own.

From this picture it seems the phone recognizes 2 Bluetooth devices not the GS as a phone. Yeah I would pair gear circle to Gear S then keep Gear S paired to phone if you can. If you can't then that is a samsung feature you are missing the circle is still new so not sure the compatibility.

What you have in the screenshot is the way it's gonna be. The two devices are managed but your phone and not gear manager. Gear manager isn't 100% compatible with your phone. The phone thinks you have two Bluetooth headset paired and connected at the same time. You can test this by connecting any to Bluetooth headset at the same time and will get the same result.

THIS the circle may only work with samsung meaning you can pair it but you will not get the voice talking ect whatever it sed it would do

The profiles that gear circle supports, " BT 3.0 / HSP / HFP / A2DP / AVRCP". So any devices that can connect using these profiles can work with the gear circle.

The Gear Circle works. That's not the problem
The issue is having both the Circle and Gear S connected to the phone at the same time and being able to answer via the BT headset.
The headset works fine if it's just the headset paired to the phone or headset paired just to the Gear. But having them both connected at the same time is an issue.
Samsung says you should be able to use the headset with 2 devices and the fact that they're trying to sell the Gear S and Circle as a companion makes this so stupid because the feature doesn't even work.

I understand and know that the gear circle works fine, that statement was not directed towards you. Back to what I said before. The issue is using both devices on a device not 100% compatible with gear manager. The gear s will take priority between itself and gear circle when connected and managed by the stock Bluetooth stack and not gear manager.

Samsung also said what the gear S was compatible with SAMSUNG PHONES vs 4.3 and up Samsung s3 and newer keyword being SAMSUNG
of course the Circle works like it should and it will your problem is the device your connecting to to pair the circle and another device
samsung phone + samsung gear+samsung circle= :good:
non-Samsung (AKA YOUR PHONE) + gear cirlce +gear S= Bluetooth(2) and that is just :silly:
i.e NO soup for you
don't get these are #FACTS
Ill just be sitting over here with my popcorn and Kermit because you having a non-samsung phone

auto-connect to bt stereo headset?

hi all
i have a bt headset (HP)
after i paired it with my hermes, the only way to connect to them is going to comm manager-bluetooth settings-devices, click the bt-headset icon and choose "set as wireless stereo". is there a simpler way to do this? (much like the regular headset ised for phone calls, which connects automatically after the first pair)
thanks

after you set up a "pairing" ... when your pda's bluetooth is on, turn on your headset ... and then press the "answer" button, just once and it will sync in a few seconds.
This is how it works on my Motorola stereo headset.
works, thanks!
Gear4 BluePhones
I have the same problem as the topic starter, but I have a different headphone I have the Gear4 BluPhones.
I've tried the same, pressing the answer button after I turn the headphones on but that does not do the trick.
I run Black 4.0 WM6 on my Hermes..
Htc Bh S100
I have the same problem with my HTC BT Headset.
The Wireless Stereo connects automatically, but the Hands Free has to be refreshed each time a new connection is made .
My Nokia HS-12W connects flawlessly.
Therefore it just depends on the hardware design IMHO.

I had the same problem as simonk12. After reading the post from margatenj I thought if hitting answer would trigger a device to setup hands-free, perhaps using one of the music controls would trigger wireless stereo. On my Sony DR-BT30Q headset, if I turn on the headset, it connects straight away as hands-free, if I then hit play on the headset control, it connects as wireless stereo and the icon appears.
Running FuN_KeY_s_ROM_WWE_1.2.0 if that helps.
Jez.
SWEET!!!
I've confirmed this also works with my Sony MEX-BT2500 Bluetooth Car Stereo. I was seeing the same thing happen. My Handsfree was connecting as soon as I started the car, but the A2DP I had to go to the bluetooth settings and re-set the stereo as my Wireless Stereo.
tabashir was right in my case, I had to press the Play/Pause button to invoke the A2DP to reconnect.
Thanks a bunch for this answer, I've been driving myself crazy about this!
I have the Pioneer DEH-P9800BT Bluetooth Head Unit in my car, which supports stereo BT music streaming from any A2DP device.
I also have the HTC TyTN II Mobile which supports the same.
I have paired the two devices, and on the initial pairing successfully played music from the HTC through the Pioneer. When that worked, the BT Audio icon appears in the title bar of the mobile (headphones with a musical note in the middle).
However, after switching off the car and later returning, I have issues:
It is impossible to reconnect the BT stereo music playback, unless I delete the Pioneer device from the list of BT devices within the mobile phone, then pair them again. Nothing else seems to work. Simply, I just want all music to be routed through the Pioneer whenever it is in range of the mobile.
Are you able to solve either problem?
Same problem
My Dopod 838Pro and my Nokia a2dp headset work fine when they are initially paired, but the only way to make them work together after disconnecting either unit, is to delete the pairing and set up the pairing all over again as above.
A further issue for me is that my headphones work fine for outgoing calls, but incoming calls are routed to my handset speaker.
I have had the Nokia BT a2dp headset now for three days and am at a loss after much experimenting with all of the suggessions earlier in this thread.
I am a new memebr and would be so greateful for any advice. Apologies if this is a problem covered elsewhere.
I am about to make you very happy...
The default solution is to go into your Bluetooth settings page on the music device where you see the Pioneer BT Unit, and (on Windows Mobile 6) hold the stylus down ('right-click') then 'Set as Wireless Stereo', when you get in the car. It should now connect back to the stereo. That is a pain though an many screen-taps.
The other solution I found is to download freeware program A2DPToggle, which provides a one-click function for this on the WM6 home screen

Thanks so much!!!
You have made me very happy.
I do not mind all the screen taps, I am just so relieved that my headset finally works, both with music and sending calls.
One further question: My BT headset is now fine for music and ordinary calls but it still will not do activate when I am talking on my SIP application (Fring). Has anyone sorted this one out yet? Thanks again.
Best regards!!

Thanks for finding that! Just installed a brand new Kenwood KDC-BT838U and had this problem. A2DP Toggle was great but there was one feature I wanted that it didnt have. With command line options you could turn a2dp on or off, but there was no toggle option. So I wrote another one, A2DPSwitch. Description here:

BT to laptop
Hello,
i have an issue with the BT connection to laptop using active sync.
when i establish a connection to the laptop first time, all is ok,
but... the HTC HD2 BT not connect automatically to the laptop when i go and back close....then i need to establish connection again. how can i tell the BT to connect automatically to the laptop every time?
thanks.
I have just found out this small app and it seems great for me. Maybe it is too late to ask this favour, could you please do another executable that toggles bluetooth on and a2dp on, and in second press toggles both off?.
Your current executable works great for me, but I have to turn BT on previosly, it would be great if the executable could do both things.
Best regards and thank you very much for this great idea.

thanks!
Hello all. I have recently bought an HD2, and I have tried this BT trick I prepare for the diamond, but doesn´t work in HD2, Anyone Knows something similar for the HD2, to enable A2DP automatically without having to enter BT config screen?
I have tried enabling BT first in the HD2, then turning on the headset, and pressing play, but it connects with hansd free profile, snif....
Best regards and thank you in advance.
Also on my Desire with Philips SHB6102.
Headset is paired correctly.
This Headset used phone and media profile but i use only media.
When i switch off phone profile in the options of the headset it doesn't auto-connect with media profile only!
Any tip?

decent fm transmitter

Hi guys, is there anywhere a small fm transmitter with mini usb so can be attached and powered directly from TC.Some range of Sony Ericson phones are offering some for their devices.
It would be very nice if we have something like that.
No luck searching the net

To be honest, I don't think there is such a thing as a decent FM transmitter. Why would you want to limit your entire music library to FM quality at best? There are so many better options out there from Stereo Bluetooth A2DP to direct line in options. But if you must go for imo poor sounding FM, maybe the Motorola T505 (it uses an A2dp connection to the phone and an fm connection to the radio and has a built in rechargeable battery).

Here are some others. Parrot and Venturi offer similar solutions. Ego has some high end (non-FM) models.

Well, I don't know but I am not realy aiming to get the perfect sound out from my car stereo.I ve got a cheap transmitter which works just fine, but you still have to connect cables and chargers and it is mess in the car.
Of course there are so many better ways to connect via bluetooth,or change your car stereo with a b/t compatable and so on, but I don't want to spend £100-£200 just to listen music in my car.
Regards
Not sure if it's available in the UK yet, but I'm very pleased with my Venturi, http://www.myventuri.com/
Looks cool, A2DP-in, line-in, line-out, FM-out, charges HTC via mini-USB, shows song titles via RDS (depends on media player support) and has a surprisingly good sound quality through FM. Maybe a bit too much bass boost but I like it. The only disadvantages for me are (a) that it powers off instantly when the cig-lighter power drops (and doesn't reconnect automatically but there are WM tools to help with that) and (b) it fakes the Travel Pilot signal so the radio won't change to the 'real' FM TP when broadcasted.
It's maybe not the cheapest option (~100€) but it's something I can definetely recommend.
Yes I ve seen those kits as well, and they are available in UK.I was just thinkig-first you connect via bluetooth and then the device sends it through FM so whats the point?
So having just FM transmitter like this one will be ideal...

Maybe soon in China they will make one

I would like to buy ventury mini, but i have a question about handsfree function: I have a touch cruise (it is not in list at ventury webpages, but i hope it is supported too) and in every HTC phones it has not Phonebook use. So my question is, if I would like make a call, so I stop the music on the phone and press the call button on ventury and ON MY PHONE select contact and call. An incoming call just pick up by ventury mini green phone icon. Is that true? Or it is not possible to use it like handsfree with touch cruise because is not supported Phonebook use.
What is correct. Thank you
Not sure if I understand you 100%. But the Venturi works fine with the Touch Cruise (I have one too).
It does not support the phonebook, but that is no problem - you just make the calls with the phone, not the Venturi. Just use the phone as you normally do (start call / accept call / hang up etc) and the Venturi will act as your "remote microphone" and connection to the car speakers (via radio) if you know what I mean. There is no need to touch any key on the Venturi if you don't want to.
How about this one?
Any opinions?

Dear all I confirm: Venturi mini and Touch Cruise works just fine. In Italy it is quite difficult to find free FM frequencies, but once you find one the quality is good indeed. And also the microphone works good.

[2009.07.01 Updated] - AutoA2DP - The smallest A2DP Toggle application

Hi all.
I found that when we connect a paired Bluetooth Headset with WM it will set as Handsfree by default,but not A2DP Wireless Stereo,we have to set it manually,that is a little annoying work,so I write this small application to do this.
-WM5/WM6 Supported.
-No TSR(terminate-and-stay-resident),no Background running process
-Developed in C,fast execute speed and small file size(5KB with signature)
Learn About "AutoA2DP.ini"
AutoA2DP.ini is a text file which used to point out an application that AutoA2DP will launch after A2DP Mode toggled.
This file must local in \Windows folder,it is an one-line text,for example:
wmplayer.exe
Means that AutoA2DP will launch wmplayer.exe after BTH Headset paired.
You can edit this line with other application,for example,to launch TCPMP,you can replace words with this line:
\Storage Card\TCPMP\PLAYER.EXE
If you want launch nothing,you can delete AutoA2DP.ini
Update log:
The "Semi-Auto" version released.
Download AutoA2DP_with_Confirm.zip if you want to confirm manual(After 30 seconds it will quit as "Cancel" in silent).
The another version will set to A2DP mode automaticlly.

Installation:
1.Copy AutoA2DP.exe to \Windows folder
2.If you want it launch application automaticlly,edit text file "AutoA2DP.ini" to write your application file name(e.g,wmplayer.exe) and copy it to \Windows folder.
3.Run it,or run install.lnk instead,it will install in silent,NO MSG SHOW,after that you will find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Notifications\AutoA2DP_by_xiaojin1985] entry in Registry.
Usage:
Open a paired Bluetooth Headset in range,it will toggle to A2DP mode automaticlly,you can see that musical icon appear in Titlebar.
Uninstallation:
Run AutoA2DP.exe with parameter "-u"(AutoA2DP.exe -u),or run uninstall.lnk instead.
Enjoy!

thanks for the awesome work at last found a A2DP toggle s/w..
I would advise, after installing, to manually connect your headset in stereo mode once. That made it work for me.

Anyhow, great tool, thanks!! There used to be others around like this, but they all needed to run in the background, consuming battery etc...

Always on "Handsfree connected"?
After you set it as Stereo,run this app again it say "Handsfree" also?
Can ToggleA2DP.exe switch to A2DP mode?
I use this Notification to get status:
On WM6.1 when a stereo headset connected,system report a SN_BLUETOOTHSTATEHANDSFERECONTROL_BITMASK,and then system start my app and set it to A2DP and quit.
DWORD GetA2DPStatus()
{
DWORD lpStatus = 0;
HRESULT hr;
hr = RegistryGetDWORD(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,
TEXT("System\\State\\Hardware"),
TEXT("Bluetooth"),
&lpStatus);
if(SUCCEEDED(hr))
{
if(lpStatus & SN_BLUETOOTHSTATEA2DPCONNECTED_BITMASK){

return SN_BLUETOOTHSTATEHANDSFERECONTROL_BITMASK;
}else{

}
}else{

}
}
So I want to find out a more common way,can someone export the value "Handsfree" and "Bluetooth" under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware] when your device at Normal,Handsfree,Stereo mode?I want to know if people connect their headset with system,"Handsfree" will change or not,on my device it changed to 1.
Yes Sir
It always stays on " handsfree Connected " !!
I can't toggle it into A2DP mode !
plz help
I have a question suddenly...
What kind of BT headset you use?I found that BTAudio is a tool that make Mono BT headset output sound....Only Stereo BT headset support A2DP...
Don't know really
But I think it has A2DP ,,,
It is Micro Smart MS-905i
Wanna ask you about yours ,, in BT settings ,, what options it gives ,, handsfree only or with another thing ?!
BTW,, on that Registery Headset and handsfree both are 0 when not pairing and when pairing handsfree is only 1
Maybe that's the way it actually is, but just looking at it seems like it has a typo. Shouldn't SN_BLUETOOTHSTATEHANDSFERECONTROL_BITMASK be SN_BLUETOOTHSTATEHANDSFREECONTROL_BITMASK?
Working Grrrrrrrrrreat on my iPAQ 610c WM6.1, thanks it's exactly what I needed.
Works great with my Fuze and NRG's 3.0 ROM! I was using Teksoft's A2DPToggle, but that appears to have some conflicts with 6.5 and frequently locks it up. With your AutoA2DP my BCK-08 BT clip works flawlessly. Thanks!
Semi-AutoA2DP?
Any chance of a "Semi-Auto" mode? I use my bluetooth stereo headphones with my Lenovo notebook and my WM6 device. Ideally, when your util detects the headphones I'd like to see a popup notification similar to:
"Stereo headphones detected. Pair?"
(with yes/no buttons)
Is this possible?

[APP] BT Audio Toggle

Before I go any further I want to explicitly express that I only have made this small release to make my own life a little bit more comfortable. I make this remark because I do not want to offend the developer of the basic component of my release in any way.
My release relies completely of the functionality that Vijay555 built into his VJVolubilis release. This great piece of software (that has much more features than I use) can be found here: http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis

As I have a Bluetooth carkit with a reasonable sound quality, I wanted to use this carkit to play podcasts over my car speakers. VJvolubilis is very well capable of toggling the BT Audio gateway, so the functionaliuty is available (see link above). But I wanted this functionality to be better accessible when driving.
So I created:
- A Icon resource with a Green and a Red BT icon
- 2 shortcuts that send the agon/agoff parameter to VJVolubilis in order to switch on of off the BT Audio gateway and that make use of the customized BT icons
Having it all (together with the VJVolubilis executable) in a single installer cab gives me just what i wanted. The shortcuts are placed in a Start menu programs group "BT Audio" (please note the custom icons apparently will only be visible in the start menu after a soft reset).
I have put the two shortcuts on my Sense shortcuts (in Sense the custom icons are visible right after intall !), so i can now switch the BT Audio gateway on and off quite easy (ie when driving).
I use this on WM6.5 and Sense 2.1 on my MDA Vario IV / HTC Touch Pro
One more remark on the credits: This release relies hugely on the work that Vijay555 put into VJVolubilis

Absolutely!
I don't know if VJVolubilis still works as well as it should as I haven't looked at it for quite some time, but the code I used should work on all Microsoft Bluetooth stack phones, so absolutely, be my guest
V
Well VJVolubilis has been working on WM5 and WM6.x for me to toggle the BT Audio Gateway. So you did quite a good job back in 2006!!
I tried this on my tilt2 with EnergyRom and on clicking BT Audio On does nothing. When I turn on bluetooth it's connecting as heatset, but for stereo , it's connecting when I select stereo audio from communication manager/ bluetooth. But with this cab file installed nothing happens. It's really difficult to go to settings every time connecting to audio.
I am not sure if Rhodium has Microsoft stack or not. Does it only work with Microsoft stack?

Depends on which ROM you got

This app will NOT use the Stereo capabilities of the phone.
It just opens the BT Audio gateway that normally is used for telephone calls via Bluetooth. This way you can use any ordinary BT carkit (or headset) to e.g. listen to podcasts.
The quality is reasonable. Also, after any phone call coming in you will have to re-open the gateway (as the phone app closes it alfter ending the call).

Connecting Touchpad to Windows 7 via Bluetooth

I spent some time searching for an answer but couldn't find one.
I am trying to connect my Touchpad with latest build CM9 to my Windows 7 (64Bits) laptop.
I can pair the TP successfully but when Windows starts searching and installing drivers I get the "No driver found"
The reason I want this feature is because I would like to be able to play audio through my laptop without using a cable like I have now (headphones OUT from TP to line input IN on Laptop.
Let me know if I need to manually install the drivers or if there is another workaround.
Thank you in advance,
Zeek
I have always used Wifi to accomplish this... there are tonnes of market apps which will do this. I use VLC Direct the most.

What I am trying to achieved here is to stream the touchpad audio from different apps/sources (Touchpad main audio)
For example I listen to podcasts on BeyondPod, also watch news on multiple news apps, listen to music from different app sources too.
If I could pair the touchpad successfully and transmit the full audio from the TP to my Laptop, it would be the easiest since I wouldn't have to open any additional app or windows player to start streaming but to get in range to connect via bluetooth.
I think TP has not enough driver to stream audio over bluetooth it only can transfer files between pc and TP though i dont have Bluetooth in my pc i havent try it.
okay
got it... i understand... now to go home and get my TP

The Touchpad booted into either Webos or Android can easily stream music via Bluetooth. I have used a Logitech Bluetooth audio receiver and a belkin one to stream music directly to my hi-fi without any problems. Here is a link to the Logitech one which costs £26 the Belkin is £15 .

Good news!
Looks like I got the answer to my own thread...
The touchpad bluetooth drivers coudn't get installed (look at my first screenshot- first post) because I only had installed the standard Microsoft bluetooth drivers.
The way I got the TP successfuly connected via bluetooth was by downloading (in my case) the Dell Wireless 370 bluetooth drivers and installing them to overwrite the MS ones.
After installing the dell drivers I tried to pair the TP with Windows 7 again and got most of the drivers installed (screenshot attached)
In order to play the audio from the TP to your PC after the Bluetooth pairing proccess, just double click on the paired TP on windows and click CONNECT "Music and Audio", that's it!!
