i have tested this for 5 days
greenify makes eats up your battery so fast and actuall battery wont gets swollen so easily
test it yourself i have tested many times and found greenify the culprit
i dont know how actually works the way it hibernates but after uninstalling you can see significant change in your battery

When this has happened to me (and it has) I found that greenify and another app were in a war, greenify was forcibly trying to hibernate the app and the app kept forcibly waking up from hibernation causing greenify to hibernate it again (repeat until battery is dead).

yes and my battery never last for 12 hours with greenify but without greenify it last over 24hours thn i put it for charging

However, the solution was simple, just do not greenify the app causing the war. Then the apps that were greenified would play nice and the other apps are free to go about there business. I do not believe greenify was intended to have all of your apps in the list. Just ugly nasty battery draining, refusing to quit ones like facebook (which I do not even have installed).

im just saying abt my experience i have edited and build.prop and put the battery codes in it for its logs and what i found i told ,,no bs i have pretty well knowledge abt these stuff brother

In my case a set of apps had been updated around the time my battery drain had started. I removed the apps that had been updated and seemed to always be awake from the hibernation list and added them back one at a time (per day in my case) and found that a version of Microsoft's OneDrive was refusing to hibernate properly. Once I removed it from the list my problem went away. Another clue for me was the fact that the problematic version of OneDrive was showing up in the battery usage screen for android when it was greenified when it had never been there before...
A later version of onedrive has fixed the problem and last I tried you could now hibernate that app again...
Another approach is to unhibernate everything and add the apps back to the list one at a time observing the behavior.

hm okay that makes sense. one of my apps (peel smart remote) always seemed to be un-hibernated even though i never opened it so i disabled it. lets see what happens

A way to find out is to lock your device, let it with the screen off for like 5 minutes, unlock it and open Greenify. See if there is any app that's not hibernated. Those that aren't you must remove them from the list to be hibernated.

I'd like to be able to use the Facebook app, but, wouldn't dream of installing it w/o Greenify.
Android should have built in the default setting that any apps you install do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING unless you actually HAVE THEM OPEN. Checking for updates, giving you notifications, etc. should all come off by default and only go on when a user chooses to specifically turn them on!

Ok so for the life of me I cant figure out why my battery is draining so fast its literally draining about 10% an hour if not more. If tried a bunch of different tools to try and monitor it but nothing is really standing out as a main culprit. I recently had my phone replaced and I had them send a new battery just for the heck of it. Also I even tried putting Hyperdrive Roms on my phone and that did not help. So I debating on whether to go back to stock and just root and see what happens again after just removing bloatware.
I tried looking up battery tips but really haven't found anything recently. I only got my phone in May of this year. Any suggestions or links would greatly help I love my phone but cant stand the battery life. I miss my Droid Razr Maxx

Not sure but I think its a Kit Kat issue. I recall having more battery life on JB than on Kitkat with my S4.
There are lots of things you can do.
System Settings
•WiFi - change sleep policy from ALWAYS (staying on) to either "Only when plugged in" or "never"
•Account Sync - under my Google account(s) I only keep CONTACTS and GMAIL checked...the rest unchecked
•Motions, Smart Features, Gestures, Air - Turn ALL of this crap off!
•Animation Scaling- In Developer Options - I use these settings: Window Animation=OFF/ Transition Animation=0.5x/ Animator Duration=0.5x
In-App Settings
•Play Store - In settings, change Auto-Update Apps to Never...you can do this manually from time to time. If not, it'll just always scan.
•App Ops - This can be a little tedious, but go through your apps (especially under Location) and turn location off on whatever you think doesn't need it! You may want to test out each app to be sure it is functioning properly before you move on to the next app. This makes it much easier to go back and enable it again if you see its needed. Most of the Google apps are gonna need it.
Freeze or Uninstall System Apps

This is good info thanks. I am doing most of it such as Greenify, etc. Wakelock Detector I have no clue how to use though. I open it up and its like chinese to me any tips on using that? I did not realize the play store is always scanning for updates...interesting. The only thing I see disturbing is that security is the thing I see most used even after shutting the phone off and turning it back on in Usage Timelines. I am rooted and Knox is disabled so im wondering what is causing the high usage on this.

WakeLock detector works great for exactly what you're trying to figure out. Check out the WakeLock guide, it'll show you exactly what it's role is. Once you have it installed, you will sometimes see a scissors icon in Greenify when you have something listed under NOT hibernating or pending...click it! You'll see the option for Greenify to "cut-off" the process chain...this prevents further wakeups from what had specifically started up the process. I highly recommend you take a look at gsam battery monitor (I think that's the name), it will also give you details on which processes are killing your battery.
I am not positive but I think you can disable that security process without any issue. You may want to Google that though.

Short answer...WakeLock only detects, you decide what you need to STOP from there. But there are apps that can utilize WakeLock to detect those battery killers and stop, freeze or remove processes or apps for you...such as Greenify.
Also, I can't stress enough how worth it it is to buy Greenify's experimental features, as it will allow you to get deeper into the whole Greenifying thing!! Hell yes it does:good:

Yes I pretty much have everything that people have suggested including the experimental version of Greenify. I am running Wakelock Detector, GSAM Battery Monitor, Usage Timelines.
However I am still seeing this Security Process running at about 6% and about 82.45 MB. I am not really experiencing any drain when the phone is sleeping.

Can u post a screenshot of gsam's monitor section? Its the part that has the list of usage...looks similar to the battery monitor screen in Android settings.
I use greenify for aprox. more than a month. I have a Moto G (2014) with lollipop (official). Greenify worked like a charm until today when my phones battery without use drained in 5 hours. I open tje battery stats and 40% went to greenify for some reason. I recharged the phone and it continues to drain. Also i mentioned that it used a big amount of mobile data (80mb). Phone is not rooted and use auto hidernation.

As the other poster asked, have you installed Xposed or not? If so, which version, Kitkat or Lollipop?
Reg high battery usage, if you have greenified something which ought not to be greenified, the app will continuously try to run and Greenify will continuously try to hibernate it. Check.
Reg data usage, the Dev has stated in another thread that Google Analytics eats the data which Google has not solved yet. He has advised opting out of Google Analytics from the 'about' section of Greenify.
I haven't installed xposed (its not even rooted). Since i first installed greenify never greenified any extra app so i dont get it as nothing changed. And about data yes i saw the post and disabled the feature.
Hello guys, I have a problem with the Facebook and Messenger app, they don't hibernate even if I manually hibernate them.
I tried cutting off the wakelock path, ignoring running state and enabling deep hibernation, but even after that I open the app to find them in the "will hibernate when screen is off" section. They've been draining my battery crazily!
Any other suggestions to do?
Same here. I think a recent Messenger update somehow changed something that prevents Greenify from hibernating it. I am using Lolliop via CM 12.1 Nighly (the very last one before CM 13).
I thought so too and rolled back to some older version, still the same problem with no luck. It's extremely frustrating.

Same problem, I mean I only lost like 4% over 5 hours but it should be a lot less, it was Facebook and messenger in my partial wakelocks
I used amplify to limit the wakelocks by them, the wakelock is called bugreporter and so far it hasn't affected notifications, and now they don't keep the device awake anymore.

Workaround
This may be a workaround for now but this is what I did: I tapped on Facebook to highlight it. I then tapped the three-dot menu and selected "Put into hibernation now". A popup then showed-up warning of possible data loss or functionality problems. There is a checkbox in the popup for "Always ignore app state". I ticked it and continued. I did the same procedure for Messenger.
They usually get rid of this trick
With Amplify it's ok.. no more drain from messenger..

I had the same problem. I installed greenfy free and saw what wakes up my apps... After i installed " Disable Services " and disable two services. It works for me in facebook, i dont know about messenger. Sorry my bad english.

I don't think that anyone will certify that it is advisable or not advisable. But the fact remains that if properly set up, the three can and are working satisfactorily for many people. The keyword here is setup.

Amplify can limit specific wakelocks/alarms which Greenify can not do. So each one has its own functionality. When used in conjunction with proper setup, they can give you amazing battery life.
For freezing, none of the three would work.

The correct setup is one in which your phone works as desired by you without any hiccups.
In other words, there is no universal setup applicable to all. It depends on the phone, model, ROM, apps installed, expected behaviour of apps etc (way too many).
However there is a guide, underline the word guide, which will help you to set these apps up as per your requirements. Beyond that it is a trial and error process.

They all do 3 different things, so yes they indeed all help.

Greenify completely limits background services which help keeping the device smooth and save battery (besides, you can enable GCM push for some apps).
Amplify delay alarms and wakelocks on things you can't really Greenify without something will go wrong, like Google Play Service or apps that you rely on, but not so often as the developer want, like mine check for location once every hour, for Facebook Messages every 2 min and so on.
PowerNap is for the perfect deep sleep. Whitelist what you rely on and the rest will get blocked and can only run when your screen is unlocked (etc game notifications. I don't want them greenified, as I want them, neither apmlified, as i don't want them when screen is off).
If you got more questions, feel free to ask.
But as said, what is working and stable for me, might be a big loss of functionality for other people.
So you should make all 3 apps work to exactly your desire and you won't feel that you're limiting your phones features.

I haven't used it recently but I had great battery with amplify less so with powernap. But it might have been updated since I last tried it.
Im not a satisfied user of Amplify as well, tried a lot of options, the ones described on this forum as well, I have a different phone now but the same error "Unfortunately, Google apps has stopped working". Cant find which wakelock/alarm/service has this affect on it (any ideas?) and its popping up a lot so I rather uninstall it.

Unlimit "icing". It is not Amplify's fault. Limiting icing was working well till the first week of May. Then Google updated Play Services and all hell broke loose.
From my point of view only Greenify is needed. I used to use that combination for an year and battery life is now better with only Greenify. I also ditched Xposed and amplify. I couldn't believe it myself but battery life is better for me without amplify. During the night my phone consumes 0,2% battery and that's super good.

What can I use to check to see what's causing my phone to not go into deep sleep mode at night or during the day. My batter all of the sudden is draining way too fast and almost dies at night.
Inside your settings there should be app called battery/ device health/ digital well being
It keeps track of app usage and battery drainage (this works if you dont have custom mods)
next it could be that your device is running in performance mode the whole time

I have power-saving mode turned off. I'm not sure about the app listed above. I don't see anything in settings. I just installed Better Battery Stats which I used to use a long time ago to see if that can tell me anything.

But better battery stats will use more of your battery since its logging everything, all the time. And has your phone always been draining fast or is this something new?

I know it will but I can at least see what's going on for the short term. No, this just seemed to start about a week ago so I'm trying to figure out what new apps I may have installed.

Leave power management disabled; ID and deal with each battery hog on a case by case basis.
Galaxy Labs Battery Tracker can be useful.
Karma Firewall. Package Disabler (not on Playwhore).
For starters:
Google backup Transport, Framework and Google Firebase... prime suspects.
Playstore, wretched apk it is.
Google play Services is another one to watch, try disabling it. A lot of apps are dependencies of it.
Any cloud apps.
All carrier, Google, Samsung and app feedback
WhatsApp, FB, etc, take out the trash.
Carrier update app, kill it if you don't want OTA updates jammed down your throat.

Would it be possible to explain to me why have an S21 if not to deactivate everything and make it a Nokia 3310. Stop using a smartphone, I have the solution ........... .
And if you have twrp and copy your system and vendore partition files to your pc you can also look in the priv-app section and their xmls to include apps to not run always
