Gear S smartwatch to get live traffic updates - Samsung Gear S

Samsung is bringing live traffic data and other new driving-related functionality to users of some of its Galaxy devices following a deal with traffic info provider Inrix.
Due to arrive “just in time for the holidays,” the deal will see Inrix’s data power “several new apps and services” aimed at saving drivers time and frustration. In addition to providing live traffic info, the deal also means apps can more accurately represent the time of arrival. Initially, the new features will only be available on the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge and Gear S smartwatch.

Thanks for the heads up. Kudos to Sammy for stepping up to the plate. I still prefer to use Waze for live traffic and police notifications. Just my 2 cents.

Samsung has released details of its Premium Suite upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, which brings features previously exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the smaller high-performance Android handset.
Arriving as part of an upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the Galaxy S3 Premium Suite offers upgrades not found in non-Samsung Android phones - the better for the company to fight the popularity of Google's LG-manufactured Nexus 4 device. Features found in the Premium Suite include a system for predicting future actions called Page Buddy - plug in headphones and have the music player start automatically, for example - and a contextual menu which places your most frequently used options closer to the top.
Other upgrades over a stock Android handset include a contextual tagging system which extends the geo-location feature of the Android camera app with the ability to add details on the date, location and even the weather, and a multi-window system that allows two applications to be opened side-by-side - a great use of the Galaxy S3's high-resolution display. Finally, the system gets an upgrade to the in-built browser to make text size easily customisable and page sharing faster, a new Auto Share Shot mode for the camera that allows pictures to be quickly transferred to devices supporting S-Beam or other near-field communication (NFC) capabilities, and a Facebook news ticker for the lock-screen.
These aren't all of the features promised in the Samsung Galaxy S3 Premium Suite, however: Samsung is teasing the details out piece by piece, posting a video detailing what it claims is around half the facilities available as part of the upgrade. Information on the other features, likely to include the smart-rotation and customisable notification features of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, is due to be released some time next week.
As the update rolls out, it will be made available to all Samsung Galaxy S3 owners free of charge, either as an over-the-air update or using Samsung's own KIES updating software.:good:

Probably the last major update I guess, when the S4 is released that will be the apple of Samsungs eye.

[Q] Summary of workout apps...?

Hello
It pass some time after premiere of Galaxy Gear S.
Anyone can confirm what workout applications works with Gear S without (or with) phone...?
Can we try and get that summary?
For now i can confirm that Runtastic and Endomondo dont work without phone (or maybe something changed and i dont know )
Best regards!
sorry for my english.
Sheath and Nike running, both do GPS without the phone.
Not sure if runtastic has added GPS to its Tizen app for the gear S yet.

Yeah in comments i see thats working but without pulsemeter
SHealth standalone
I run with SHealth in stand-alone mode and get heart rate, speed, distance, GPS data.
It logs everything including a map of my runs, but I would love some cross functionality between SHealth and some of the major fitness platforms.
Has anyone found a good way to track stationary bike workouts? All Shealth does is track my HR.

Klokker for the Gear S

Hi everyone,
I'm very excited to announce my Klokker app for the Gear S in the Samsung Apps Store.
The Gear S is an impressive hardware masterpiece that the only thing it needs are fancy apps.
Klokker is an information safe repository especially designed for Samsung Gear S smartwatches.
You can store in your Gear S valuable information sometimes difficult to remember like your car insurance number, your passport number, your VISA card number or your bank account number. This information is protected under a password or passcode to avoid non-authorized access.
I really like my Gear S and I'm working very hard on several ideas to bring new apps to this smartwatch. I'm not only working hard, I'm working with illusion. I'm posting this announcement here because I know I will receive feedback about my work. I want to make the Gear S something really useful in our lives, something that can help us or solve some of our daily life problems.
I'm focused primarily on standalone applications. Companion apps are cool, but I wanna make the Gear S as much independent as I can. In fact, the Gear S is the most independent smartwatch of all. So I'm not following a wrong approach right now.
I will populate my Facebook page, my blog in Tumblr and my Youtube channel with more information in the next days. If you would like follow me on Twitter to keep in touch with all my projects.
Take a look at my support site at ayalawilson.com or look for Klokker in the Samsung Apps store.
Your feedback will be really valuable for me.
Thank you very much in advanced and I hope you like my app!

Hi TheManMountain,
The app Klokker is available in the USA, of course.
There is a problem with several apps (including Klokker) when your phone is a Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+.
They cannot see my app listed on the Samsung Gear Apps store. Something similar happened with the Opera app last April.
Right now tow users have this problem. You from the USA and another guy from Spain.
I'm investigating the issue and I reported the case to Samsung.
Best regards,
JMAW
