Is it possible to root LG Realm LS620? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am looking purchase LG Realm LS620 during blackfriday. Is it possible to root this phone? Please help me with links...
THANK YOU!

Yeah I Used Towel Root it worked just fine then make sure to install SuperSU & Busy Box also search some thing in the play store to fix the writing issue to the SD card after you get root heres a link to the apk for towel root https://towelroot.com/tr.apk :good::good::good:

Yeah towel root works fine, idk if theres any custom recover for it tho, been looking since i got it, ive tried using xposed framework, but its not the same as using cm roms

yeah i have yet to find a custom recovery or any development for that matter but im sure hopefully soon someone will do something with this thing.

Towelroot worked perfect! Thanks
Would just like a custom recovery, I as well have not found one.

I have bricked my LG ls620, any chance of asking someone to rip /system/app for me, or perhaps the entire stock firmware?

Writing issue to the SD Card after using Towel Root with LS620?
Thanks for the info. I should be getting an LS620 today. I would like to disable the activation wizard and I understand the way to do this is to:
1) root phone
2) install free version of titanium backup
3) uninstall LGSetupWizard 4.3.019
Regarding the rooting portion, you mention "search some thing in the play store to fix the writing issue to the SD card after you get root" . I am not sure what this means can you let me know what issues are related to writing to the SD card on this device after rooting with Towel root and what application and process is needed to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a copy of your stock rom? Or and update zip i can install from the sd card to re write the entire system?

Yes
Towleroot works perfect!

Even unrooted on newer versions of Android you can't write to the external SD in less you root after that es3 will be able to but I'd you want other apps to you need to use
a app such as SDfix: Kitkat writable micro sd, which I used on my LG Realm, hope this helped

Before I ROM it

I want to back-up some things--mainly the wife's angry birds stats. Trouble is that every post I read talks about loading things using the market after the tablet is ROMmed.
I've tried putting superuser on manually but it doesn't seem to recognize root explorer. All this after following the root instructions found here.
Angrybirds backup, superuser ... is not available in the gtab market (hadango) found on the device when stock. AppBrain doesn't seem to have any way to get the appbrain app onto the tablet.
I need advice on how to get apps on the tablet or to get superuser to recognize root explorer, or perhaps just how to get angrybirds backed up.
I use titanium backup or mybackup root!

Respectfully, what you use isn't the question really. If I can't get superuser to work with it then I'm still stuck.
So to restate here, I need a way to get these apps onto the tab before its rommed, or to make superuser to work.
honestly, I thought my wife would freak when I lost all of her angry birds saves, but she said it was "fun" to have to do it all again.
For superuser:
Install ES File Explorer from market
Use ES to install Z4root from xda
Run Z4root to root tab
Test root using Root Explorer
For backup:
Install Titanium
Perform backup of User Apps
Flash ROM
Install Titanium
Restore User Apps backups
According to this link: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ which I got from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008245 I am rooted.
Unless I shouldn't trust that link.

You can trust the link. Lots of good info there.
If you are on a stock rom, you are not rooted (unless have you used something like Z4 to root it). All custom roms are already rooted for you. Anytime you nvflash back to stock you will not be rooted.

Well I remember looking for an answer to root and finding several places saying that I would have root after following those instructions. I guess I let my experience with rooting got in the way of understanding. That or nobody thought to mention that you don't need root to load a new recovery image or a ROM.
z4root it is. Thank you for your time and attention to my small problem.

No problem. It's all a learning experience. I knew absolutely nothing about android 3 months ago. When installing signed zips (which is what you install via recovery or cwm, the install scripts set permissions to perform the installations. Nvflash, also has root access. It' only you the user that doesn't have it when android boots on the stock rom.
Android is a big learning experience. There are no manuals and the only place this all exists is either in a post somewhere or in our minds. What 'goodintentions' did by creating the dummies site was try to make it as much a one stop shop as possible for new (and old) users to get the most out of their gTabs, but, there is just so much and each rom has different nuances that it's not possible to put everything there. Especially since he alone is footing the bill to keep the site going.
You also have to remember that not everyone is an expert and we all benefit by putting our collective minds together and helping each other. What one person doesn't remember another user may & hopefully help out. Just as hopefully you can do the same to someone else with your experieces.
Anyway, didn't mean to preach...time to get off the soapbox. Hopefully you can now do what you set out to do & if you need more info, feel free to post again.

Yea, well so much for z4root. It does do a good job of restarting the tab though.

Are you saying it didn't work? I used it on my gTab & Cruz Reader without problems. It's really simple. Install, single butten press & it will reboot. Where did you download from? How do you know it didn't work? After install/button press/reboot, open Terminal Emulator, type su & return. Does it respond with a # prompt...if so you have root access.

Known issue, please check on FM post. It will work if you format your SD to FAT32

Hmm, everytime I tried to mount a pair, the phone reboots, then the mounting resumes but I got the message "Error: extSdCard permission - FM could not fix the external permission and ownership. This could lead to read/write issues for apps that try to access your mounted internal sdcard folders. Please try to remount all pairs after a while manually". Never used foldermount before, so IDK what's wrong here :silly:

thanks for trying, that seems to indicate foldermount is the problem, not necessarily my chinese root. haven't had luck getting su installed in its place, but it lets me change build.prop which is what i needed to get to .510. really wanting foldermount to work so i can install more than just 14 gb of games and movies.

Thats not good... I'm waiting for my Ultra to arrive. I use foldermount normally as well. Lets hope the dev can sort it out.
Why don't you just put the movies on the external though?
maybe you need to fix your file permission. i recall i done this , previously either FM didnt work or self reboot after mount and will stuck on boot loop

can confirm remountrebootfix app does work! First i installed the superuser app from the app store, did not delete the chinese su app though as it doesn't seem to be a problem (keeping it for now), rebooted to make sure i still had root with superuser instead. then ran the superuser.bat, deleted and reinstalled busybox (smart install). Can confirm foldermount works just fine now.

360root method works directly on 510.
vroot doesn't work on 510 (if applied directly).
I myself used vroot on 475 kernel that is flashed on a 510 FW, and reflash the 510 kernel after root. Now my 510 is rooted. Also changed the chinese root apps with superSU.. Plenty of step-by-step guide in other threads in the general section

Thank you for this. I went to the 360 root site(In Chinese but used google translate to english)(Pic 1)
It redirected me to the software download page (PIC 2)
Downloaded the software but since its in chinese im completely lost. (Pic 3) Would it at all be possible if you could share with me how to go forward?
The other 360one root I found ( http://shuaji.360.cn/root/ ) only works on Chinese OS.
Thanks in advance.

Just plug your phone into your PC with 360root application running and hit the big, green, ROOT button and there you go.. Your phone will restart automatically, that means the process is done and you can close the application on your PC.
Remember the 360root requires connection to chinese server and therefore depending on your connection you might have to set up proxy on your PC. More detailed guide for this, go here.
Also, disable your antivirus, especially those that come with firewalls.
If 360root somehow doesn't work, use the 475 kernel workaround to root your 510. Guide here.
Another easy way (and more reliable) is through recovery, guide in here. But this requires unlocking your bootloader.

The provided instructions only provide a "TEMP" root. but hey, we are one step closer now.
When you reboot your ZTE Savvy you will lose root.
At least I can get rid of some bloatware.
Savvy temp root is a joke. Its a start but in to way did it help me. I can't get any of the bloat removed I maybe doing something wrong.
I lose root before reboot. Lasts about five minutes maybe longer. If I can't have full root to get fancy ROMs that is cool but would so live to remove some of the trash they install on here. Any help would be awesome.
A list of some of the apps that I can remove and how to do so would be super. I've tried es file to remove from system app folder won't allow me. Also tried titanium backup.
Titanium says it deleted but it is all still in app drawer just force closes the app I tried to deleted if I try to open it.
Then i lose root before I reboot. Once I reboot all the apps that I deleted come right back fully working. I'm stumped and hate the junk they put on here my phone says system memory is full and I have downloaded like 5 apps the rest is there trash.

There are not even any roms available. not even clockwork mod recovery to install the roms. if you install an incompatible rom its likely it will brick your Savvy. Though I would like to remove the old zte launcher for the digital cookies stock jellybean launcher. it is much faster and makes the whole system faster considering this is a low end spec'd phone.
btw i replied to your message.

SD Card access

Hi All,
I've just updated to MM and everything is running perfectly with root. What a difference in performance!
I have always been able to save stuff into SD card regardless of app using SDFIX patch. (It was meant for Kitkat but also worked on Lollipop)
Is there a fix for this? I want all apps to have access to SD Card..
Or is there a way to create a folder on the SD card for full access? I'm quite confused using these options as i've always applied the SDFix patch
Many thanks
Have you found a solution? I went to edit the permissions and didn't even see the external storage permission in the file, so I'm not sure it's as simple as it used to be.

Nope, still don't know how, i'm just using workarounds for all my applications that require it at the moment. Feels backwards as I use my SDcard a lot since upgrading to MM, but worth it for my phone not lagging anymore!

you can try kingo root but I have to warn you that you verify that the website you download from is legit and not a a phishing website Lord of the root apk is not infact root apk but malware.
if you are on anything which is Android 6 plus chances that this APK will not root your phone because of security enhancements in that case your only choice is to to find a TWRP recovery for your phone Google TWRP and your phone name number follow instructions to flash it most of the time putting your phone in fastboot and flashing the image does the job and after that you can install magisk which will root your phone .With the option magisk hide enable you can fool other apps that your phone is not rooted or you can disable the superuser or root completely within magisk manager and use as non rooted phone.

My Android version is 5.1, but I heard really bad things about Kingo.

Also, I'd like to know: is it true that rooting wipes all data from your phone? I'm trying to retrieve deleted pictures, so I need the data.

When you plug the phone / tablet to a computer you need to pull down from the top and look for Android System and something to do with USB / click this and choose Media Device or file transfer the PC should reconnect and make a sound. Now you should see all the folders in Internal storage and External storage (if you have a sdcard in the device)
make a folder on your pc and copy everything from the device to your pc
I personally use Google photos to keep those backed up and available on all my devices
Amazon Photos works just as well or you can even use both

Yeah I'll be using Google Photos from now on, it's just a bummer since I lost some pics I really cared about
Anyway, I've tried to copy, but I get an Unspecified Error
I don't understand
Edit: Ok, apparently the only folders I cannot copy are the Whatsapp and Android folders. I think I can just ignore them, since all the cached pics I want to recover are stored in the CloudDrive folder.
So, back to the root.
Is Kingo REALLY that malicious? I don't wanna risk any permanent damage on my phone (Android version 5.1)
And about TWRP: I got the app installed, but my device (CUN-L01) is not listed
kingo is not open source and when it and roots your phone it install some other bloatware app as well .As long as it's capable of rooting your phone go ahead and use it but make sure you to get rid of it after the diskdigger work is over
so yes something you may want to try
backup all your data photos call logs SMS etc , install kingo root app and get root { , if you want to keep permanent root then and at this stage you can download and install TWRP directly as a rooted user without going through the long drawn procedure of fast booting & once you have TWRP installed then replace your kingo app with your favourite root app and throw out kingo }
, do your diskdigger work and then un install kingo root app
there is a desktop and Android version both . the desktop version is supposed to be more powerful make sure you uninstall all the apps once your job is over also make sure that you are downloading the correct kingoapp because there are some of other 'viral' versions , that may install undesirable bloatware but will not roat
diskdigger alternative is phone paw you may want to try that as well I don't think that needs root it's PC based photo recovery software

Sorry if I ask, but any of you have a reliable download link for Kingo? I really have no idea where should I look for a "safe" version.
Also, what do you mean by "make sure you uninstall all the apps once your job is over" ? Uninstalling Kingo is not enough?
there is a king root and there is the kingo root and I have not used both this crapwares for quite a long time I used them when I was on 4.x and rather new to this Android cynogen factory. At that time TWRP was a bit new and not every phone had a TWRP.
so I think I probably referred to kingroot and not kingo root
https://kingrootapp.net/
don't recollect but either or both of these apps also install some other bloatware apps that pretended to save your battery and show you how faster phone is charging ...whatever
uninstall all the apps that were installed after your 'root work' is over

The link you sent me redirects me to a certain Aptoide app
That's a good start :good:
Ok so, I'm not downloading anything from that link
Also, I keep reading awful things about this root method. Like it sends your email to some shady companies and such. I'm not even sure it will work with my phone, it may brick it.
So, I'll stick with TWRP
Can someone guide me?

First step unlock the bootload, on Huawei It's a pay service, check eBay or
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code
Second step you need a patched boot.img made with magisk. Most times you can get the stock boot.img from an OTA update.zip
Copy it to the phone and use magisk manager to install (patch) the stock file.
Now you copy the patched file to your PC fastboot folder.
Third and last step is to fastboot flash the patched boot img
The command is
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
Reboot and you have a rooted device

Here is how to do it
First things first, never use one click root apps! they install spyware and stuff, and they achieve root access in your phone by using vulnerabilities. The proper way to root it is the one by which you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery like twrp, I found a post here https://techelucid.com/root-huawei-y5-ii/ ,follow it and try to use magisk instead of supersu, its more updated and can hide your root access, you can use supersu it work too but some apps won't work with root access enabled, magisk can hide this. Both can give you root access

well it sounded like this person just wanted a one shot one time root and out method which is why I suggested King root if it works. afterwards all that crapwhere can be deleted.
the other option was also mentioned that is TWRP and magisk .bootloader unlocking need not always be paid service lot of things allowed here on how to unlock bootloader but first we have to make sure if his bootloader is locked or unlocked.
turn on developer settings and oem unlock switch if that is present that mean the bootloader is unlocked and in fact this step of buying a service to unlock bootloader is redundant
I was trying to keep the thread as simple as possible without going into the depth of all the under the hood methods but sound like after all ,all the mechanics have opened up the hood and now we are getting to the engine
whatever works .....it sounds like he's getting good help so wish him good luck
