Should I upgrade from S3 to S3 LTE? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it worth upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S3 to the LTE version?
I know it has 2gb of RAM, a dual core processor, 4G, and no FM radio.
Are there any other differences apart from which ROMS and kernels I can flash?
Thanks

go for i9305

no

It's quite old now so i wouldn't.

My mother has just got a Z3 Compact, it doesn't look to bad considering it's the z3s younger sister

Not worth it, get something newer.

S3 has become aged,try a Newer one
S3 has become aged, try a Newer one .Personally um in love with Note 3.. its an amazing handset and I know I do not have to think about upgrading it for next two years

touchwiz 5.0 Nature ui on Note?

Hey guys!
Ok so I am going to be on a concession line soon with best buy mobile and im torn between the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S3. As far as I can tell, the only SIGNIFICANT difference is the stock touchwiz version. Now I know the processor is a bit beefier than than the Note as well as other things, but im talking BIG differences. Anywho, Ive looked around and it seems possible to run touchwiz 5.0 on a Galaxy note, which would make things a bit easier. My only concern is fluidity. I want this phone to run damn close, if not completely fluid. So what do you guys think? Get an S3 and save the trouble of go with the Note and flash TW5 which is where my first instinct was?
To be honest, with the lte version of the s3 only difference there is, would be that the s3 has 1gb more ram and tw5. The processor speed is the same on the note once you root it which would be 1.5 ghz.

Pretty sure stock the processor runs at 1.5 Ghz. To be honest I just convinced my friend to grab the SG3 and I have to say I love it. I would highly recommend that phone and you would probably have quicker access to an official jellybean update

I thought the Note was LTE as well, or is it just "Faux"G
Note is definitely lte. Also, though the note and sgs3 are both 1.5 GHz dual core, the note has the s3 snapdragon, while the sgs3 has the s4.

I have both... I wouldn't worry too much about the Rom and cpu too much..if u like bigger screen and spen functions get the note. if u just want a phone get the s3. . Anything that s3 has you can easily get it into the note anyway (rooted note). . The only thing note doesn't have is screen stay on.. I have to say after u have a big screen phone. U will not wanna going back to smaller screen..

Wanting the S2 instead of S3?

I have the GS1 and im maybe getting the GS2 for almost free. I don't know why or how i want the S2 more than S3 i mean they both look good but to be honest S2 looks better. both 1 GB Ram and not so much change on the camera either. Quad core is not so very necessary (yet).

I have a i9100G and i'm more than good with it, even doesn't having the Exynos processor this phone is fast as hell! I tried a S3 and is true that is better but in few things
The S3 is better, but I see what you mean. Maybe invest in an expanded battery (Samsung do a nice one for £20), or alternatively hold off your upgrade until you can get a 4G phone (varies depending where you live; in the UK this is only a wait of a few months so I'm holding off).

If you can afford Siii, just go for it, you will have updates faster, and also better future support.
It's sure minute powerful and functional than s2.
Coming from original galaxy S, Siii is the best upgrade for you.
For us, owners of galaxy SII, galaxy S4 (or whatever they call it), or NOTE II will be the best upgrade for us.
Swyped from my Galaxy SII
What about the screen? S3 has 4.8" screen and S2 only 4.3"

I dont care that much of the screen..

Just buy 3 of each.

I agree that the S2 looks better than the S3. It being squarer makes it look more sophisticated. Personally, I think the size of the S3 is too big, so I chose to get a second hand S2 a few weeks ago. I have no regrets, and it's a lot faster than my Nexus S.

I completely agree with you. If you just had your S2, it's too soon for you to upgrade to S3.. it's not worth it

[Q] Buying Samsung Galaxy S3

I'd like to ask everybody if it really worth buying this phone. I have enough money to do that but shall I do that or buy some other phone?
Wait for LG, it's x2.5 more powerful, i guess

After owning the s3 for about 2 months. i can perfectly say that this is the best android phone available right now. If you want a phone thats will knock out every other mobile in the market get the s3.
I would suggest waiting for the release of the updated version of the S3 which has LTE (international version) and 2GB RAM compared to 1GB on the current i9300.
If you don't care about LTE and the extra 1GB of RAM, it's still worth waiting as the current version of the S3 should fall in price.
I have used Galaxy S , S II and SIII. Each one is worth every penny spent on it.
No existing device is better than SIII.
I you want to wait there will always be a qeue of more powerfull device coming and you will never be able to decide.
I had been with my S II for exactly 9 months when the S III was released. I wrote here on XDA that I'd never move up to the S III because it wasn't worth it...
... that lasted until I played with the phone for 5 minutes in a store. I bought mine in the same day and don't regret a bit.
Get it, man! It will be the best phone you'll ever have.
Get it. I love my S3. Waiting for jelly bean.

I've used SGS I, skip the SGS II, and now using the SGS III.
(Monster) Specs aside, the one thing why I decided to go with SGS III, and not it's competitor, is because I know it'll be a popular device like its predecessors.
From my experience using SGS I (a device I bought 2 years ago) popularity also contributed to your phone "lifespan". No official ICS or JB for i9000, but because it's popularity you'll find abundant custom rom with gazillion tweaks, mods, and kernel for it in community support forum like XDA.
Beside's that, I'm already quite familiar with the SGS environment such as the 3 magic combo, Odin, etc. Too lazy to learn from the start if I chose another phone
Wait for the i9305 (S3 international Lte)
It will probably be a bit pricier than the current 500€ for the i9300 but comes with 2GB Ram and an additional Lte modem.
Btw the i9000 has Jellybean through Cm. Just not official crappy-touchwiz jellybean =)

Who plans to upgrade to the Snapdragon 800 version when it comes out

I have been reading about a new model of the S4 going through testing based on the Lte A model.I really like my S4 but it seems like the all of the new generation phones are going to be Snapdragon 800 based.I don't think there will be much difference in day to day use and will be more about bragging rights of who has the fasted phone.
My current S4 could last me for a few years no problem but I have become a sucker for newest phone out.I am not really sure why since I am typing this on a pc with the first version of the core I7 920 and have never seen a need to upgrade to a faster processor.
No I think this phone will handle all I can throw at it. 32g model rooted I'm extremely happy overall. My battery life is great. Know what ya mean about latest and greatest though.

The Lte A version is, but there are a few other model numbers showing up that seen destined to other markets.I really don't see Samsung sitting back and letting LG put out a 800 powered phone as their new phone is rumored to have as well as Sony's rumored 800 based phone.Their own Note 3 is sure to have it as well.
I really can't see them not putting out a updated S4 since the 600 will be considered a previous generation processor once everyone goes to the 800.I also don't see them waiting for the S5 to do this.

Well I certainly can. They didn't release a S4 Pro version of the GS3 when that became the newest thing.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
exactly. the snapdragon s4 pro quad core was out, and the quad core exynos s3 was out, but the s3 was still the dual core s4. they're not going to release this phone here just for a slightly upgraded processor. that would be a stupid business move.

Looks fast...
Happy with my S4 32gb as is- even without root, but want root to stop updates and kill da' bloat.
Running smooth and fast here with my 16GB quad core.
Don't care about such a minimal upgrade for a phone that costs as much as they do. Just be happy you have the best phone on the market.

Processor upgrades are a fraud! I have a Core I7 920 also and, thanks to arthritis, I'm typing slower than I did on my 386DX25!
I've become comfortable with the on screen keyboards but still the fastest keyboards I've used on a phone are Blackberrys and I'm still trying to figure why my BB 8330, a totally obsolete 3g only phone, takes better pictures with it's 2 megapixel camera than any phone I've owned since, including the Galaxy S3 and S4?
Some days I think if I could live with the small screen I'd reactivate it, sell the later Android phones and blow the money on beer and cheap hookers.....

Is the S3 a worthwhile upgrade

Hi all
I currently own a Galaxy Note N7000 but ive got the chance to upgrade to S3 I900 from O2 (uk).
To all you experienced users is it worth upgrading to S3 or would S4 be a better choice?
I am a bit of a flashaholic between CM/AOSP and touchwizz but i prefer touchwizz.
I only want to root and debloat, so is the S3 still future proof for a while yet?
cheers
Depends on how much the upgrade costs, S4 is minimal specification increase over S3 and smaller user base at present (so not as much support on xda).
First thing you'll do is turn off all the fancy gimmicks, if the S4 is much more expensive then I'd stick with the S3.

I900 is not SGS3 .
Future proof always depends upon what the future brings .

yeah sorry my typo, meant to say I9300.
looking at the specs n7000 has same amount of ram as the I9300, but i assume suppose
it has quad-core 1.4.
bottom line is i can get s3 cheaper than s4, but will the s3 be better performing than my GN1?
cheers
i9300
If you are the fan of Big Screen and SPen features you must go for Note 3
If not S3 (i9300/i9305) will be the winner for support, ROMs, Kernels.
For S4 some users have a feeling of orginal ROM is smoother than any custom rom. But S4 has more RAM, more CPU Power, Full HD AmoLED, Bigger Battery.
I love custom ROMs and Kernels with Max Tunables so I am sticking with i9300 S3.
My feelings but your choice.

yeah, i seem to be heading towards S3, its cheaper and although S4 has more ram both seem to be faster than my GN1.
Also after reading XDA, seems more flashing options for S3 at the minute.
What it comes down to for me is performance, as long as it performs better than my GN1, I think i will go for S3.
cheers
