Hi Faccion.
There is a yes and no to your question.
Yes, there is a way to install the Samsung gear to your non Samsung phone (for that follow the thread in the other reply)
But some apps will not work on your watch anymore and you will not get any push messages, you also will not get any updates for your watch.
I have tried it with my mobile and since then I receive a error messages that something is not working in my mobile, I needed to reset the phone.
There is also a way to start your mobile without a phone but than as well there are some apps which will not work with the watch.
The people of Samsung were not completely honest in there advertising, you do need a Samsung to work properly with the watch.
good luck

Yes, I did this and it works. But the next step is to install the Samsung apps store. I was successful in installing it but it dose not work because its a lg phone. So I changed the manufacture, brand, model to Samsung in built.pro and the stores works fine, but now when I open gearmanager it crashes everytime and I have to restart the phone! So I can only use the manager or the store but not them 2 together. I've searched everywhere but couldn't fined the answer on how to make them work together. Maybe someone knows?))

I've got them both working together. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but I only changed the model in the build.prop. I'm on a Nexus 5.

[Q] Can I use galaxy s4 as a tablet?

hey guys, I looked up on google but with no avail. I'm hoping someone here can help. Is there a way for me to trick my phone as well as google play or something to think that my s4 is a tablet?
Here's what I want, I want to download viber, under the same number on 2 phones. I have it installed on iphone 5, and i also want it simultaneously running on my s4. Because i know the new viber update supports simultaneous connection with the same number on a pc and a phone, or a tablet and a phone. so im hoping to somehow download viber as a tablet app on my s4, in order to run it on both. (phone is rooted).
please help.
thank you in advance to whoever reads this and even more thanks to those who take the time to reply. much obliged.

Gear S apps list?

Have couple question about the apps supported by Gear S? If anyone has played hands-on in AT&T store or is planning too.... would appreciate some insight.
Essentially, will Gear S allow apps install from the Play Store, or we at the mercy of Samsung to decide what I can and cannot do, when I'm away from the phone?
Also, is Gear Manager just a routing/notification type software, and truly we can install anything on Gear S (whether thru playstore or side apk load), and when the smartwatch is far away (not in bluetooth range) from the phone... Gear Manager directs the AT&T tower to route the appropriate data to smartwatch.. as long as the app was installed on both smartwatch and smartphone?
Based on that AT&T fineprint pic... it seems, it will allow SMS/MMS/call and also email... does it mean I can install corporate email client from play store? and will it still work? Also, not sure about other apps.
If anyone has seen in the store... do you see the play store icon, or in settings option "to allow install from unknown sources"? Thanks in advance.
I did go to the AT&T store but the Gear S shut off.
I dont think you can install from the play store since its running Tizen OS not Android.
Thats all i now waiting for more info from Samsung.
That is a good question: is there a Tizen play store?
i to have same question as i m also planing to buy gear s ,.,. i want to have a calculator app as i did not see any sign's of having calc in it ,.,.
but i dont think that we'll have any authority to install any other app. and if this is the case than how good is moto 360 as it is an android watch ??
Is there a Tizen app store?
yes there is. You use your samsung phone to access it and then push the apps to your watch

Even though the watch has an Internet capacity?
Well this one might. I just know with the other samsung watches you have to use your phone to push the apps to it even though those have wifi on them.
Here`s a link to some Gear S apps.

Gear S doesn't heart iHeartRadio

iHeartRadio is not to be found among available apps in the Gear S manager, but when I install it on my Galaxy S5 via Google Play:
1) iHeartRadio sees that I have a connected Gear device
2) proceeds to try to install iHeartRadio on my Gear S
3) generates an error message about failing to install the app on my Gear S
4) proceeds to remove the app (!) from my Galaxy S5.
Both devices were configured to allow for external installs. I'm guessing Samsung wants to retain exclusivity for Milk, but I hope it doesn't mean they will also be blocking the release of TuneIn. I'm more of a news guy than a music guy, and I'd really love to see a streaming radio app land for the Gear S. Right now I'm making do by copying news podcasts over to my watch, but that's a pain.

Hm. Can you run a logcat on your phone?
Me too, have the same issue. Not sure if samsung is blocking it or if iHeartRadio is trying to install a version that is not compatible with Gear S (Gear 2?? - http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer...ar-2-and-gear-2-neo-smartwatches-is-available), as a result pulling off both the mobile/ watch installations!!

I ran the logcat. The only thing that stands out is:
W/ResourceType(21464): Invalid package identifier when getting bag for resource number 0xffffffff

Can you add a little more? Need some context.
I installed the I heart app via Amazon app store on my note 4 and so far it seems to be ok. I didn't receive an error message after install and the gear manager didn't uninstall it. I will test this out for a day or two and let you all know if i run in to anything.
Ditto I installed iHeart from Amazon app store it stayed I do not have a iheart on my Gear S though not sure if I was supposed to have one or not
This is why I love forums. Thank you so much for the info. This worked.

I installed the Iheart app from the Amazon store, and it didn't install anything on my Gear S. Is there something I'm missing?
Is it still not working?
There is currently no fix for the gear 2, the app will only work on you phone at this time. I heart is aware of the issues and is working with samsung to get this issue fixed. Hope this helps.
I was able to succesfully install iheart on my Note 3 and Gear 2, when the Gear 2 came out. But on my Note 4 and Gear S, no success. Only option now is like whats already mentioned. And thats installing it through Amazon app store. That also wont install the watch app. But as a work around, you can use the media player on the Gear S to control the volume, skip songs, and pause/play.

Can I stop my phone automatically installing apps?

Got a no mark S4 clone on 4.2, perfectly happy with it, got CWM and a new rom on it, its fine.
I have exposed and boot manager and once a day it has its icon telling me 'google play services' has auto installed, and every other day an app called 'recents' with a sort of C:\ terminal icon. Now, neither of these I want, I've deleted them so, SO many times, selected 'dont auto update' and also 'dont notify' from within google play, set my firewall to block anything google when on 4g etc...
Is there ANY way to stop it installing stuff I dont need?

The only way is to build a new aosp rom for your device. My advise is remember that you get what you pay for and clones never really have any of the hardware they claim they do. I think you will find you are better off ditching the device and buying a new one.

That doesnt actually help me at all.
The phone is fine, no issue with it. Has a new rom on it, specs were as described, its a problem with google, and the play store auto installing, it did this on my old S2 and my galaxy tab stock, so its not the hardware.
There must be a way to stop the play store doing this apart from uninstalling the play store as I am currently doing.

Then that will lead me to think it is one of the apps you have installed. Some shady apps like CCleaner will install other apps. I would wipe the device completely and then install your apps one by one until you find the issue.

Gear S + Pixel XL

Reposting this in a separate new thread after also posting in the sticky tutorial for others searching on google how to get the Pixel to work with the Gear S.
"I have a Pixel XL and tried to use the above steps to connect my Gear S to the phone.
When I try to install "Samsung Gear_com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_2.2.14100299_2114100299" the phone says it is corrupt and cannot be installed.
When the gear manager is launched, it cannot find the watch at all. But using the regular bluetooth connection method from androids bluetooth settings does allow me to connect it to the phone. But manager still does not detect/activate the watch...
Please help! I have gotten way too used to the watch to get along without it..."
I was able to download and install gear manager from play store without any issues. Still doesn't connect to my gear s though. Says it can't find, even when I reset the watch. I need help to. Don't want to return my pixel, but love my gear s

The Gear Manager which you downloaded from Play Store does not connect to Gear S. It only works with Gear S2. This has been confirmed by Samsung that Gear S can only connect to a Samsung phone. Currently I'm using a spare Galaxy Note 3 to synchronise with Gear S for S Health tracking.

Tested on my xperia Z5C and not see also works with my Fit2. So we must wait for an update ....
I am going through the same issue, and after spending eternity with high level techs on the phone and in person at a Samsung store, I found that the answer lies in the Gear S. The last firmware update for the watch was early this year, and the watch itself cannot communicate with Nougat. Even though Gear Manager will communicate with Nougat. Right now we are at the mercy of Samsung to update the Firmware for a 3 year old device, that has been replaced by 2 generations...
