How To Make Icons Smaller?? - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Does anyone know if there is anyway possible to make the Icons smaller on the Home Screen without rooting?
Thanks guys.

I want to do the same. the icons are big. I was trying to edit the build.prop with root explorer but it goes back to normal. I was trying to go from 320 DPI to 280 DPI but it won't change. may be it needs root to be able to work

With Nova Launcher the icon size & layout can be changed

I use it on my Nexus 7 & S5

I believe you can use adb commands to change the phone DPI.
Use at own risk

Hi, get Elixier Widget!

Make screen dpi smaller ?
Any news on making the home screen dpi smaller ? A while ago there was a flashable zip for ZU. I really hope someone will make one for the Z3C too

How to edit a launcher for different DPIs?

Hi all!
Quick question... say I'm running my phone at a DPI of 190, using something like LCD Density Modder for example.
But then, instead of running a stock AOSP launcher, I want to run something like LG's custom UI.
Problem is, everything is scaled incorrectly and all the borders are off... as I assume the launcher is trying to run at a stock 240 DPI.
How would I go about pushing changes to the launchers framework to scale to a 190 DPI?
Thanks!!!

Smaller DPI on NovenaDXLJ2?

I flashed Novena ROM and attempted to change DPI to smaller. I tried a couple with buildprop editor and I got successful with 268 without constant soft rebooting (the phone hangs and basically the UI restart, button lights up and go to home screen). Any one successfully running Novena stock with small DPI without hangs?
Thanks great ROM BTW! I just like to run it with smaller icons and look overall.
I just changed mine to 240 and back. I do it manually with root explorer, I posted instructions on how in the novena thread actually....
Just know, that different dpis pull images from different folders within the framework, going to 240 pulls from the drawabke-hdpi folder, whereas stock is xhdpi, so the theme will not be the same because it is a lot of work to just theme stock tw DPI, not to mention all others as well.
That was rather longed lol
TL;DR works here

Weird DPI issue

Hey guys, so I changed my systems DPI to 360, but I used app settings to change themers DPI to 480 which is the normal DPI for the note 3, however, everything looks fine, but i can't click on anything on the desktop, but if i click and hold the menu pops up and i can click on the tabs. anyone knows why?
i really don't like the original DPI on the note 3, everything is so big. but i wanna use themer cause it's so pretty and useful! but i can't use it unless it's on the original DPI... please help!!

Hi, unfortunately for now Themer only supports stock DPI, system-wide. The developers might be able to resolve this in the future.

DPI change

I found that the stock setting of 240 DPI made everything a little too large for my preferences. I tried 180 DPI first and that made everything a little bit too small. At 200 DPI everything seems just right, except that the stock launcher does not take advantage of the additional area. I installed the Google Now Launcher and that does make use of the additional area, and other launchers such as Nova likely do as well. I haven't installed anything other than the launcher from the Play Store yet, so I don't know if this will give me any issues with installing apps, but I know there are fixes available for this. Also, it is obviously very easy to change DPI by editing build.prop if you have root access, but there is also a method posted in the forums on how to change it without root.

icon sizes

After using Nova Launcher forever, I decided to run the 9+ stock for a while and recreated my screens. However, the icons are gigantic. Is there a setting I am missing to change the icon size? It seems there is a limit as to what I can modify on the stock home.
Search it bro there setting for it :good:

Are you sure there's a setting for smaller icons? You can adjust screen resolution and grid spacing. Neither of those options impact actual icon size. I don't think I've stumbled across a setting for icon sizes aside from maybe assistive super sizing.

Yup. I've yet to find a setting that will change the icon size on the native "TouchWiz" launcher. Maybe they get a little smaller when you have the screen grid at the highest setting (5x6), but this has no impact on the home screen dock, which is where my icons and folder live.

Dont mind the other guy. I know what u r talking about and is fair question to ask for most noob new to touchwiz.
Unlike nova which u can minimize icon size. U cant do this in touchwiz. There are other way but are limited
Changin grid to 5x6 home screen or/and change ur dpi. If u go to developer mode. The highest dpi for touchwiz 456 before it breaks. asuming you have wqhd+ resolution. If u go any higher touchwiz icon just minimize to small. Also the samsung keyboard breaks.
Try using 5x6, dpi to 456 and see if that small enough for u, if not then u would have to use another launcher.
