[Q] Malfunctioning microSD card after unsafe USB Eject from PC. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just got a 64GB Samsung EVO microSD for my HTC One M8. I installed it, and plugged my phone into my pc to transfer some music onto it.
I started by moving the music off the device storage onto the card through windows explorer, and it seemed to be transferring fine. It was taking a while as I had about 7Gb of music on the device already. Then like an idiot I unplugged the phone from the new dock I just got and was trying to get to work with my phone cases, while the files were still transferring.
Now, it won't let me paste anything to the SD card or device storage. Dragging files across to the SD card or device just freezes the folder icon where I dropped it. I am using clover as a windows explorer augment, if that makes any difference. But it doesn't look like I can transfer anything to the SD card from my phone either, as I just tried moving the music across with ES file explorer, and it came up with an error about needing a root to write to SD.
I have tried formatting the microSD from the phone, uninstalling the pc drivers for the phone and letting it reinstall them. Tried removing the card then replacing it, and restarting the phone. I have tried using SnapPea to transfer files across, all to no avail. Strangely, SnapPea and ES File Explorer are listing two SD cards, the first being identical to the files on the device storage, and the second being the actual SD.
I have no idea what is going on. I don't have a card reader to try formatting the card without the phone involved, but it seems like ejecting the phone erroneously has messed up the device storage as well seeing as I can't transfer files to either from my PC now.

[Q] Delete corrupted file due to MTP

It took me about an hour with my new baby to find out why I hate MTP.
I copied a movie file from my PC to the S3 using MTP. In the middle of the process my Windows Explorer crashed.
As a result I now got a movie on my sd card which I can't watch, but cannot be deleted either.
Do I really have to format the sd card again? Or is there another solution?
I hope Mass Memory Mode will have a come back on this device.

[Q] File transfer problems?

I got the galaxy s3 a couple weeks ago, and when I got it I just put my old sd card in it and it worked fine. I could transfer files to and from it fine, when I hooked the phone up to a computer I could easily copy and paste files to the sd card that was mounted to phone. The sd card I used was an 8 gig Samsung, I recently upgraded to a 32 gig PNY sd card and have had nothing but problems with it. For the first week it would always say sd card was unmounted or unreadable and gave me an error, then mounted and worked. Finally got that fixed, but it would never work for file transfer from my computer, I have to physically take the sd card out of the phone and plug it directly into my computer to actually get files to transfer onto it. But transferring files onto my phones memory works fine, just the sd card has issues. Even when transferring from my phones storage to the sd it hasn't worked in my experience, any help would be appreciated. I don't want to have to root or anything because I know the phone works fine, I think PNY just sucks I haven't had the greatest experience with any of their products.
Okay so the card is doing the error message with the phone again so I guess I need to fix that first, Help?

Trouble transfering files onto sd card

I have several videos i want to transfer from sd card back to my computer.
But everytime i try it just cuts of the transfer and doesnt move any files.
With my old phone it was read as removable device and with teracopy i could move all that i wantd.
But with S3 it mounts my device as "GT-I9300 Portable Media Player" not as SD card.
I would use a sd card adaptor but my sd card is encrypted so will only work with phone.
Is there a way around this and mount the phone as a removable device or are there programs to manage the file transfer from phone to pc?

WiFi file transfer Pro is my suggestion. It doesn't require a cable - you just connect to the same wifi network as your comp. and then type an adress in the url bar and then download/upload as you please to both internal and external sd.
Thanks for your reply.
Wifi file transfer pro is a paid app, if there a way to do this using the transfer cable as i usually move several gigs over from my phone to computer and back and prefer to use a reliable connection.
Also i am unable to use teracopy to transfer my files like before i am limited to just move and when try moving several files it makes the next set copy across instead of moving.
Use Airdroid
It's free & it's actually the dogs nuts. It's on every pc, laptop & phone I own.

[Q] Folders are getting delted randomly

So lately i changed my SD card in my device to a Samsung 32GB and when I transfered all my song, later I noticed on the music player that many of the artist are missing.
when I went to check what's going on, I found out many of the folders were been replaced by empty folders that their name starts with the letter "µ".
like for example, the folder "ACDC" became "µCDC".
I tried transferring everything back again facing the same problems with different folders.
I tried doing a factory reset and tried moving the song to the SD card through a card reader, and checked the files were OK before inserting the SD card back into the device and they seemed fined, but after I inserted the SD card I noticed the folders got curropted again.
also before I inserted the SD card there was like 500 MB of free space on the SD card, while after I inserted it suddenly the was like 15 GB of free space, caused by so many data that got deleted.
I don't believe the SD card is damaged, but that my device is messing my things up....
I also remember that I couldn't transfer any video files to the SD Card when it was in the device and could only transfer them into the device's internal memory.
what can I do?
Use the sd formatting tool on your pc to format the card, if still the same then throw it away. It sounds like a fake card, did all the files work while it was in the pc?

All the files have worked while it was on the PC.
I even tried transfering everything via a card reader and everything check allright.
only when I insert it in my device some of the folders get screwd.

NEED HELP - data on SD card suddenly lost

I've seen other similiar thread about data on SD card suddenly loss in this forum. but apparently nothing that have similliar problems with mine. I have LG L70-D325 running stock KitKat 4.4.2 ROM with 16 GB SD card installed from V-Gen. before all the data is missing, I was accessing my SD card via USB cable to my PC. I was copying my pictures from Internal Storage to my External SD Card. suddenly, a dialog box pop up on my PC says that "system cannot bla bla bla" so I press cancel right away. after that, I check my data on my SD card via PC and it's still available. then I remove my device from PC by pull out the usb cable (I totally forgot to change the PC Connection from Media Exchange into Charge Only before pulling it out). when I open my gallery, there are no files in my SD card, so I check it via Root Explorer. what I found is all the data is gone, just a view folder from installed apps on my internal storage. before I lose my data, I was uninstalling an apps called Folder Mount. there are a picture folder that still mounted from Internal storage into External storage. the differences between my problems with other thread is that I still can access my SD card without a problem. I shutdown my phone and insert my SD card via card reader and my PC can access my SD card like usual, but all my data on it still missing. I've tried using GetDataBack for FAT for about 6 hours and still can't find my missing data. is there anyway to recover all my missing data since all important files is in there including my assignment paperwork. buying or replacing with a new one for me is unacceptable since all I need is the data on it.
I've had luck with this tool before:
http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Power-Data-Recovery-Free-Edition/3000-2094_4-10561431.html
I used the paid version and recovered 300 GBs from a 3 TB hard drive (twice - long story...). But, saved my behind. Hope it can help you...
If you can connect it to your PC, Disk Drill can scan it. Try any free data recovery tool
I thought I had lost a whole day worth of footage from a shoot I was at on 9-11-15. I had a drive go bad today that I didn't backup like I should have done and spent all day looking and searching for any kind of backup and recovery software. I accidentally found free tools: Recuva and Disk Drill on the web and figured, hey it's free...why not try them. Well, 20 minutes and 52 gigs later, I'm back in business.
