Lock Screen - Xperia Z3 Compact Themes and Apps

hi! I come from a nexus 4 and I don't quiet like the Sony lock screen.. is there a way of changing it with a stock android one?

I kinda second this.
While there are numerous apps that act as lockscreen replacements, none of them actually do the job well. The one that comes closest to pure AOSP is Holo Locker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.locker), but it's closer to ICS than it is to KitKat.
'Tis a shame since Sony's UI can actually be made to resemble AOSP, except for the single most seen screen on the phone -- the lockscreen (even the wallpaper can only be a static image ffs).

If you are on rooted your device then just delete the lockscreen apk and odex file from /system/app folder. now you are on stock lock screen.

I was looking for a way without using root.. I prefer wait for a root that doesn't lose DRM Keys..

Might I ask what the name of the lockscreen apk is? I found keyguard in priv-app but nothing of the sort under the app folder.
Have any other tips to make stock look like AOSP?

How did you make it work?
I tried deleting the Keyguard.apk and its .odex, that failed. Next, I tried an Xposed module but all I got from that was a bootloop.
Please, anyone?

If you don't use Pin or Pattern protection you can try disabling the lockscreen alltogether. The wallpaper thing was annoying me also. I've turned the thing off, works just fine to me.

I do prefer having a swipe lockscreen of some sort to place a widget (such as CLock) to be able to see things with a single push of a button, without really unlocking. Sony's way of doing lockscreens is just absurd, especially the way you can't set the background to match your homescreen. And those sparkles, ugh, don't even get me started.

Xperia Xposed let my live wallpaper show on lock screen

Tried many Xposed Xperia modules, all of them got me a bootloop.

The Keyguard.apk is the AOSP one so don't delete that, look for XperiaLockScreen.apk in the app folder and delete that.

I swear there is no XperiaLockScreen in there. And no, I didn't delete it, else I'd leave an .odex behind. Despite it missing, it's still working perfectly. Or, rather, as Sony intended it to work (which is, for me, far from perfect).
(See the attachment if you don't believe me -- I always leave .odex behind when I delete system apps just in case something goes wrong and I have to restore it from an earlier backup)

I absolutely love ACDisplay, similar to the motorola lock screen, and I really like the minimalist approach. I set it to show my background instead of the black screen and I think it looks great in combination with Tapet wallpaper app.

Can AcDisplay be set as the lockscreen (that is, can it be set to show itself even when there are no notifications)?
Having it wake up the screen will probably drain the battery as well, so unless there's a way to basically set it to act as a normal lockscreen, I'd avoid it.

Attach that XTP.apk or have a look at the res folders for any images that show what it might be for, they may have renamed it, or changed the way the Keyguard.apk works.

The XTP one is pretty much empty, no res folder, just the manifest and meta-inf. The keyguard is interesting though -- this is Sony's lockscreen!
Any chance replacing this with an older Xperia's Keyguard would work?
And to answer my own previous question -- AcDisplay can be made into the lockscreen. A damn good one, too, though I'd still like a system app.

They always have to make things that little bit more difficult it seems. You could try the old one for nothing, the attached one is a deodexed one from Z1C 157, can you attach yours, I'd like a look at that.

Yes you can set it to be as a normal lock screen. It works great, especially with double tap --> double tap to wake up (check clock or notifications) and again double tap to turn off the screen.
You can also set that notifications don't wake up the phone.

The next killer app

Hello fellow Arc owners.
I have a quick question for you all.
What do you wish your handset could do that it can't?
Something you've always wanted to be able to do with your phone but has never happened, no-one's ever found a way.
Whatever this something is, it has to be possible to do by way of an app - so no super-high-res screens, batteries that last a year on a single charge or anything else hardware related, we're just talking software.
And I'm not talking an updated GingerBreak or something like that. I mean a proper, legit, above board idea.
I'd love to hear any/all sensible ideas, thanks.
NB: I'm not looking to steal anyone's ideas, if you've got a plan for the next killer app then go for it and I wish you all the best.
I'm just trying to find out if there's a niche out there that could be filled...
Im thinking......facial or thumb print unlock screens.....no idea why though.

Thumb print.. won't be feasible on current screens
And facial.. would take too long compared to swiping ?
A snap shot feature would be nice like a system restore. I know there are way to do it in Recovery but it would be nice to have a application within Stock ROM because Recovery is not available within Stock we need to Flash the custom ROM like CM for it.
A better (and free) lock screen could be good ! ..
I used to love how I could use the iPhone/iPod as a touchpad to control the mouse on the computer. Something similar for the arc would be a good idea. Should be graphically pleasing though.
I love to be able to use the camera button unlock the phone directly to the camera app, by long pressing it, so it doesn't happen by mistake. And when you turn off the screen or press the back button it would go back to being locked.

As mentioned, finger prints would require different hardware.
Facial recognition is simply fraught with too many problems to be practical.

Really !! You know how to create a snapshot? Or access it?
Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Allows Screenshots Without Rooting
Don't know anything more about it though, sorry.
Sorry I think you got me wrong ...! Snapshot i meant a complete image of the system so we can restore it back to previous state. Let's say if something screws up we can restore the image
Right, ok.
I thought you had made two suggestions - screenshots being one and backups being the other.
I could be wrong but I'm not sure that's possible to do unless you're in recovery. I have a feeling that it's only possible to copy certain parts of the OS when it's not running.
As I say, I could be completely wrong but I can't help but feel that there's a reason why recovery is needed to made Nandroid backups.
May be I want to capture video of the activities I do on my device (just like capturing screenshot)...
Though m not sure if its achievable or not!!!
an app which can change anything in the system .. like the default wallpaper settings ..i dont mean the main wallpaper ... change the color .. change the notification bar ... but that easy change anything in the system ... where u can feel easy on making ur own system ... but the problem i dono how to make i hope somebody go on with my idea .... its free for u all ^_^ ... the first who will do this plz let me be the first one who tries it ^_^
thx
I am expecting an application that can show the time and other notification when screen is off. It means that the time can be checked without needing to wake up the screen. W 800 used this technology before. Very useful!

+1 , and the time/notifications have to move up over the screen after each minute (like a screensaver) (like Nokia/Symbian has)

[info]How to enable AOSP lockscreen

I'm sure that a lot of you know this already, and also that most of you enjoy the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. However, in case any of you wanted the simplicity of the AOSP lockscreen, here is a simple way to do it. With the Evo 4G it was the same way, but you needed to use the AOSP clock for the alarm to function properly. So far I've had no issues with it here, I'm able to unlock the screen and click dismiss, and the alarm turns off. So I've had no problems using it yet. If you have a screen lock or whatever, you'll need to enter it to unlock before being able to dismiss. That is good, to ensure you're really awake, lol.
Using Root Explorer or any other root level file manager, such as ES File Explorer, navigate to the /system/app folder. Scroll down to HtcLockScreen.apk, and rename it to HtcLockScreen.bak (I prefer to rename change the file extension to .bak so the app disables, in case I choose to go back to it, it's as simple as changing it back to .apk and rebooting). Once the HTC lockscreen is disabled, you're left with the stock AOSP lockscreen, which is there all along. Don't forget to make sure Root Explorer is mounted as R/W before doing that. Once done, reboot. You should then have the AOSP lockscreen.
EDIT: And btw, I'm currently not using the Rosie launcher. I'm using the stock gingerbread launcher, so I'm unsure if or how this will affect using Rosie. Report back if there are any problems with that, so others know. Thanks.

Awesome. As cool as the animated weather lockscreen is I think that whole ring thing is just stupid. It's ugly and not very intuitive. Not to mention it is not smooth at all.

I'm using the launcher from the Supra rim thread. He has an apk attached. I haven't had ant issues with it. The apologize drawer doesn't have that "rounded scroll " effect when you scroll it, if that's what you mean. Otherwise it works great.

I thought so too at first. But a month and change in (for the most part) and I found that I almost never used those shortcuts. I'm talkin' single digits here...perhaps countable on one hand....the weather is really cool, but, that ring...I'm all like "what?" But, as usual around here, to each his own.
Thank god for the stock lock screen...thanks OP

It is a good lock screen. But either way it's always best to have options.
I'm now trying to switch to the AOSP lockscreen. Works fine when I rename the htclockscreen.apk file but... I'd sure like a way to turn off the menu button which completely defeats the entire lock system. Reason I want to switch is that HTC still doesn't know how to make a lock screen that doesn't constantly pocket answer. Sense 3.0 is no better. So the AOSP lockscreen would do the job: if I could disable the menu button so that pressing menu does nothing (like it should). Anyone know how to disable the menu button on the lockscreen? Would also be nice to turn off the haptic garbage when sliding the slider too.
Any info? I found a flash for the Evo 4G that disables the menu button on the lockscreen but it involved replacing a .jar file in the framework folder. I'm thinking an Evo 4G file in there would probably not be compatible with the Evo 3D so we probably need our own file, right?
Thanks,
Mike
Hell yeah. Just what I've been looking for. Thanks. Works great!
is there any way to do the opposite?
use aosp throughout the whole rom
but have the htcsenselockring?
sorry if it had already been asked.
Guess I'm stuck with the HTC lockscreen answering in my pocket. You lose too much using the AOSP lockscreen:
(1) Caller ID on lockscreen: have to unlock to see who is calling and after that, there's no way to relock before you put it back in your pocket: pressing the power button disconnects the call. Smart!
(2) Menu button completely overrides the lock. Again... SMART!
(3) Idiotic haptic feedback while sliding the lock.
Just wish HTC would do it right. All they'd have to do is offer a side to side or different type of unlock as an option. Screen Suite actually works pretty well but you have two choices of a lock slider: iPhone (don't get me started) and a stupid cartoony spaceship that looks completely ghey. Sigh... this should be SIMPLE!

There is a ROM that has that, it has the sense lock screen but an ASOP look. Sadly I forgot which one it was since I flash like every other day.
Edit: Its Project ROM.
The easiest way to get the AOSP lockscreen instead of Sense imo is just go into Titanium Backup, go to Backup/Restore tab, scroll down to HTC Lockscreen(not sure of the name of the actual app but it is obvious and has HTC Lockscreen in the name), uninstall it and then reboot your phone and you will have AOSP lockscreen.
I used this method but now when my screen is off and I receive a call, I have to unlock the screen, but it only displays the red end button as if I am already in a call. It does not allow me to answer the call. Any remedy to this? Thanks

Thanks. Nice ROM. Icons in the status bar are blurry though. Apart from that, working fine for now.
Also, what file in the framework do I need to change to change the background that shows when we are in the Settings menu etc? Kinda obtrusive the default ones, so wanted to change them.
EDIT: Superuser is denying all apps root access, without any prompt showing up. Tried with both Titanium and Root Explorer.

Maybe the problem with the su apk is caused by the kernel you are using.I never encountered such a problem when i run the tests but i was using my kernel instead.

If you want, you can install another stock based kernel with OC.The rom will work fine with it.You will never get OC from my kernel. It's a way of thinking.I do not see it as a disadvantage.
If you want you can install another theme and change the settings background.
Please give some feedback on some other important issues like stability, speed, smoother scrolling, better touchscreen responsiveness, etc in comparison with stock firmware...

Hybrom is built without a boot image, and it can be installed on an any stock based kernel.
The choice about what kernel you will install is up to you.I prefer kernels without overclocking.
In the end you will have more disadvantages from an overclocked kernel (overheating, instability) than advantages (speed)
I agree;i use boof kernel and everythings work perfect.

To be honest it's a bit thin Not sure if we(on android) can change size, formatting of fonts.

-stability, hm ok didn't experience any problem.
-speed, speed of each app is ok, but switching between apps is slow, I would say to slow. for example when i receive sms and pull down status bar, click on it, sometimes it need 2,3 second to switch to sms.
-smooth scrolling is ok (why just ok? well maybe didn't pay much attention to that )
-touchscreen responsiveness, well I noticed one annoying thing, usually on stock, when light turns off ->touchscreen is off, and you can wake your phone with only hard keys. In your rom you can wake phone even touching on (turned off)screen which lasts only 2-3 second after it turns off. That wouldn't be a big problem if not only you wake it up but you actually press something
Also I noticed low number of free ram, I guess it's because of launcher and maybe other stuff you used.

About screen going off:The screen after about 20sec gets dimmer. It doesn't turn off.It turns off after 30 sec.In this 10sec interval you have the chance to fully wake your screen only by touching it.After the 30sec have passed you will have to press the (hard) home key to wake your screen.
About free ram:Please give me some numbers... (I already have improved this feature in the upcoming v16)
P.S. i do not own an mt11i,so testing is very hard (a friend of mine owns an mt11i,but i do not see him often). So, posts like the previous one, are very useful for me.Please give me some more feedback and i may be able to bring neohybrom at the levels of the original hybrom...

About screen, if you didn't changed levels, it should dim like stock, right? I know about that, but I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking that when screen goes off(really off, no dim) you can still wake up phone by touching screen.
About rams, hm, I moved back to stock, so can't check real numbers, but I remember after some time it gets down to ~70-80, it doesn't get freeup, and i didn't even used much apps, regular calls, sms, gtalk, 1-2 times browser.
only after I use one of those widgets from GO(sorry don't know name, as I don't use it usually) to kill apps, it only goes to ~130.

disable all lockscreens?

How can i totally disable any lockscreen on the rezound? I use widgetlocker but after a restart the sense lockscreen always comes up until widgetlocker loads up. I tried a few no lock apps on the market and nothing seems to work.
tried freezing the default lock screen?

you are going to have to use a app called Titanium backup (might have to pay for the pro edition but it is worth it) or something similar to this, but i recommend this app. Then go to backup/restore then freeze "Default lockscreen"

Yes. I just removed all those apks. We shall see what what happens.
EDIT: just rebooted and now have the aosp lockscreen. I did a google search and i guess i cant do this. It has to do with the android.policy.jar.
Did you try freezing Idlescreen_Base.apk and see what that does?

The chingy gb rom.
I used to use THIS when I wanted to not have a lockscreen. I haven't tried it on the Rez, but I would assume it would work. Might as well try that.

I deleted most of those idlescreen.apks and it seemed to do the trick as far as removing the sense lockscreen. But now im stuck with a blank screen until widgetlocker loads up. Cannot acess my homescreen until then either.

Thanks i tried that today, doesnt work.
I also have this problem on my EVO 3D. Cant disable that darn lockscreen for widgetlocker instead. And I really hate it when i'm using poweramp via lockscreen. I turn on my evo to change a track and the sense lockscreen appears and then it loads the poweramp player with widgetlocker.
I used to use a dialer code to disable the lockscreen in my Droid Charge (when NONE of the no-lock apps worked.
I don't remember the code offhand as I like the sense lock & have no reason to disable it.
I would love to be able to disable lock screen myself. does anybody have any ideas regarding this process?
*EDIT*
I just used NoLock. It breaks on reboot, but I guess that's okay because I don't reboot all that much. Plus, it's kindof cool because I can PIN or password or Pattern lock the phone easily if I want, yet still have the ability to keep apps from screwing up when I turn off the display.
Nothing worse that losing a GPS lock when you need directions and don't know where to turn next. Not to mention lots of other apps that you have to reload when have to unlock...
NoLock, works perfectly for me, even after reboot. I also deleted the sense lock screen. I don't use any lock screen at all though, I like to go straight to home screen.

[MOD] Screen Tweaks

Requires Xposed Framework!
Hey guys,
this is the first project I'm sharing on here, so be gentle
After stumbling across the Xposed framework one or two ideas came to mind and I made a module out of them:
Hide the "Swipe to unlock" text from the lock screen on my Xperia Z1c
Enable the CRT off animation
Prevent the screen from turning on when unplugged from the charger
The first two things work nicely on my Xperia Z1c, the third however I could not get to work.
APK and source for the first version are attached.
I don't know if this is of much use for anyone else, but I would be glad if someone could help with the third option.
Update v2:
The third option works now, the new version 2 is attached.
If activated, the screen will not turn on when connected to (or disconnected from) either charger or dock.
Update v3:
I uploaded a new version (attached) which adds the following options:
Hide the camera icon on the lock screen
Hide the carrier label on the lock screen of some Xperia devices
Hide the sparkles effect on the lock screen of some Xperia devices
Update v4:
I uploaded a new version which adds an option for disabling the analog clock face above the list of alarms on some Xperia devices.
Update v5beta2:
The new version adds preliminary support for Lollipop (untested).
You're welcome to try it and give feedback.
The module can also be found on the Xposed repo: http://repo.xposed.info/module/net.feichti.screentweaks
You say the "disable screen on on unplug" doesn't work, I haven't had a chance to check yet, but I've looked at your code an found the following
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as i can see on line 56 on ScreenTweaks.java, you are getting a value as a string from pref and checking if it equals "on" or "off". Why not just save a boolean?
secondly, line 39
mPrefs = new XSharedPreferences(MY_PACKAGE_NAME);
Don't you need the file name as well? Again, sorry if I am wrong about this
Otherwise, sounds like a great mod, will try it now
Hey hamzahrmalik, thanks for your reply.
The setting on line 56 is for the CRT animation, and it's that way so I can select to not do anything (don't change system default).
The other thing is correct, because I want the default shared preferences for the module package.
Well, looks like I was looking in the wrong place.
The setting for not turning on the screen works just fine if I connect a charger, but I was always testing it with the dock, which is something different.
Dock aware don't-turn-on coming soon...
thanks for work
any chance to disable the "stars effect" under the finger while unlocking?
maybe also remove the camera icon?
I have tried this on xperia z1 and it does not work

Dear Pezo,
Thank for the work, the crt-off works perfectly on my Xperia Z1c and it looks very nice!
The first option doesn't count for me because i dont use a lockscreen. The third i wil test later today and report the result.
:good:

I have also thought about removing the camera icon, I will look into it the next few days.
About the stars effect, I rather like it, but maybe I will look into that as well.

Another user said it's working on the Z1, do all of the features not work?
Just to make sure, you have enabled it in the Xposed installer?

Oh well, I was just looking for your ROM and it seems it doesn't exist any more...
Could you send your Xposed log, maybe I can fix some features for you.

hi!

i love my new lock screen
I think there is a bug on disable screen sparkles. After activate the sparkles gone forever, also after uncheck or deinstalling the mod - the Sparkles never come back! Anyone can confirm that?

I have no idea, but it can't really be my module, since I don't change any persistent settings.
Just to make sure, you did restart your phone AFTER deactivating the module, right?

Okay...thanks anyway for your mod/help!
Tryed clean install on "PureStock" and here its working flawless! Returned to clean "Monx" and it happens again, maybe its rom releated! :fingers-crossed:
Does hiding the camera icon also disable the swipe camera shortcut from lockscreen?
