[FIX][SHARPENING][ALL VARIANTS][29.01.2015] Sharpening Mod Script v. 3.5 - G3 Original Android Development

Hi guys... probably you remember this thread: [FIX][Oversharpening][All Variants] Stock kernel with oversharpening fix
Those kernel aren't good as the stock ones because i builded them from source without any fix ( this is also the reason why they take some time to boot ).
Additionally some doesn't like the sharpening completely disable and want to try differents values.
Here i come with this new Aroma Scripts. Just flash it in recovery, select your preferred value between 0 to 40 ( 0 - 5 - 10 - 15 - 20 - 25 - 30 - 35 - 40 ), install and reboot.
This might be compatible with all kernels ( also AOSP ) but i didn't test for all so i need your feedback.
Installation:
- Copy the zip in your device;
- Reboot in recovery and do a backup of your boot partition ( just to be safe );
- Install the zip;
- reboot your device.
IMPORTANT: Remember to put your screen off 1 time to make it working.
Changelog:
v.2.0 - Now stock Kitkat ROM might works tnx to my new livebump script
v.2.5 - Script Fix
v.3.0 - Added all values from 00 to 40
v.3.5 Better compatibility
If you are asking to yourself if this is safe to try the answer is : YES. Just do a backup of your boot partition before install the script. If your device will not boot reboot in recovery, restore your boot partition and you are good to go.

Hi ! I flashed your last chupachups kernel with oversharpening fix implemented but my g3 runs your lollipop rom (the one already rooted), not your chupachups release. Everything is fine for now. Is there any reason to flash a stock kernel and apply this mod instead ?

Chupa Kernel is enouth good but the kitkat kernel i posted aren't. So i think that is better to use this instead of thoose kernels.
Plus, with this, you can select your preferred value ( some guys didn't like the sharpening completely disabled ) and might be universal ( stock - AOSP )

boot error
i encountered an boot error and the led is blinking blue and red. glad i have the backup and just restore
edit: i just saw kernel already bumped tha'ts why. im using the kernel with oversharpening fix

Direct kernel patching, now this is really nice
Thank you so much for the hard work you put in.
I'll test later today and report back.
I had a look into the updater script and it extracts two folders tmp and sbin, but the zip only contains tmp?

I am using a stock ROM with root and TWRP, did not flash anything (besides temperature mod).
Does this mean my device is good to go for this?
(Never completely got my head around bump root, bump unlock, bumped kernels, and when a dev needs bump)
Thank you.
Regards,
sub

Same for me, o had modified kernel without oversharpening, flash back stock, and try the new mod an did not work

Sick script man.
One problem setting the value to "20" cause a security check error on boot. Other values "0, 25, 5" are okay.
Been using stock aosp kernel without the os patch.

My only test was with 20 values, can be this the problem or is because is not working with stock kernel?

Nevermind, I tried choosing "20" again and all went well. I guess the script glitched and didn't patch correctly.
Its working with all kernels.

So you think o should try it again even if i m using stock kernel or o must first flash back the skin not oversharpening kernel?

I've tried with stock and stock bumped ( I know it don't make sense) with 20 and 25. I got the security boot error.
Maybe is intentend for custom kernel only?

What is a family-based ROM Project?
A family based Rom project is a rom project like others, only different by one thing: I'm not the only modder/maker of the Rom, anyone can contribute with mods, help, suggestions about the rom, because in the Open Source world the first thing to know is that any user is part of a big family, a big community, in this case xda.
Click to collapse
How can I contribute?
Simply send me a PM with the mod/tweak you like, if all is supported natively the mod will be in the monthly/weekly update, if not I'll try to include it, but it will be integrated only if working without problems, otherwise, if the mod make the system unstable I'll made a flashable zip with a "readme" file containing risks and warnings, so you can use it!
Click to collapse
And if I want to make a ROM based on this?
Simply use it! As any Open Source project, you are free to edit, rename, use it in your own project. I only ask to be mentioned, me or the thread (I prefer the thread), because anyone that have addict something to the ROM can use it, but it's a good thing remember who helped too...

AnyOtherPersonReadingNow: Have you flashed it? Some feeds?
I'm using it and I saw that with the 1.5 version the Player boot in 11+11 seconds and is too much speedy for me... I'll release the Beta 1.9 next week, to fix the remaining problems and features (some build.prob tweaks and other tweaks), next I'll release the Stable 1! Yeah! After the first stable version I'll release only some small zips with only the modded files, and sometimes a new version with all the zips included.

Xposed on the new MM update

If anyone has put Xposed on their Honor 5X with the latest MM 6.0.1 update could you post which version/installer and if you had any problems?
no working on last xposed version, using twrp to flash.
stuck on HONOR animation for 10min and getting a bit hot
tried xposed uninstaller and everything is working now
Using this version: xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64.zip
With this apk.
Working well on both stock ROM b330 and CM13.
First boot can be a bit long, just be patient.
I used the file @mooms supplied and the first boot took a very, very long time. At first I thought it was stuck. But finally it booted up and it's working.

It was at least 20, maybe even 25. I just left it alone for a while and did something else.
BTW, an entirely different issue is which Xposed Modules will be compatible.
Amplify works (for battery saving).
But many other modules (eg GravityBox) say they do not work with OEM skinned ROM's, only pure AOSP.

I know that was also said on the version for LP but I was able to use some of the functions of GravityBox like Expanded desktop Mode to hide navigation bar and enable volume keys to kip tracks when listening to music.

Exactly, GravityBox will run, but only some functions works with the stock ROM.
If you want a fully working GravityBox, switch to CM13! (however, roughly half of the features are already implemented in CM13).

He meant there's an Xposed forum on XDA. All the info you need is there. He obviously knew the answer but didn't want to hand hold.

The answer was already given on post #3 by @mooms and guess what : the title of this thread is "Xposed on the new MM update" and B330/B340 are exactly MM !

Sailfish for Xc

Update 9/7/18 - Now possible to have full Xperia X official version support on XC, including Android apps and OTA update. See post by g7 in this thread in Jolla forum - https://together.jolla.com/question/185922/sailfish-os-on-sony-xperia-x-compact/
Requires official Sailfish X system image,, which can only legally be obtained from Jolla by buying a licence for 50 Euros. Once you have the image, download and unzip g7's patcher, and copy image to same folder and run the patcher.. Then fastboot the rom using the same instructions as for the community port below.
--------------------------------------
Here is the info for community port, (v. 2.1.3.7, no license required, no official Android support, no ota):
Check it out - https://together.jolla.com/question/180109/announcement-community-sony-xperia-x-compact-release/
Not my work, I just found it. I downloaded, but won't be able to test until tomorrow. It's not a flashable, instructions to flash via fastboot are included in the zip.
If anyone beats me to it, post here and let us know...
Flashed successfully and working well. Auto flash didn't work for me on Win10. I had to make a modification to bat script, and didn't work anyway, so had to flash fastboot commands manually.
Working: cellular, wifi, mobile data, gps, bluetooth, sensors... Call volume is good.
- Download zip from link above and extract
- Download oem image from Sony site linked in README file in zip, and extract to sailfish folder
- Open cmd, and cd to sailfish directory to flash
Code:
fastboot flash boot hybris-boot.img
fastboot flash system fimage.img001
fastboot flash userdata sailfish.img001
fastboot flash oem (name of Sony oem file).img
Done
So far my experience:
Very impressive. Much better than the Firefox OS and Ubuntu touch ports, etc, that I've tried on Xperias in the past. Main issues for me are,
- camera not so good in low light, (good in good light)
- limited system app options, (alternative browsers, keyboards, etc.). There is functiining Jolla app store, with some good apps, as well as dev-type repos, like warehouse, and openrepo, with patches, etc, but I find the system apps kind of laggy/buggy. Hopefully more development coming
- app switching/multitasking cumbrersome. In general, don't expect anything like android. It's all gestures and no buttons. Probably actually better than I realize, but takes getting used to.
pros,
- Really nice ui, and lots of customization options. I've just started figuring out a little bit.
- boot time is less than 10 seconds, (about 2 or 3 seconds after Sony logo).
- good experience so far with support forums
- potentially capable of using android apps. Sailfish has a service called aliendalvik that can run Android apps. I can't tell yet if it works on this phone, though. It seems like it doesn't, out of the box, but maybe could... (update 5/24 - see here for working Android files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76612066&postcount=71).
Can't get it to flash. Script is written to look for 228 fw, (N), so flashing with O causes 'wrong version' error. I downgraded to 228 to test, but script just starts, and then closes without doing anything. I also tried changing batch script to look for different version, but didn't help. I wonder if it's a Win10 issue..
success. needed to edit batch script and flash commands automatically.
Going to update op with instructions

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Will try flashing it tonight
UPD: Flashed successfully. Works great! Even Android Support(tm) works (after installing RPMs from Sailfish X)
Bugs so far:
- Sometimes the screen won't react to touches after unlocking. Solved after locking the device again and then unlocking it

I've noticed screen responsiveness a little dull in general, but liking it overall...
Sensproof said:
After using it for one day in seems the lockscreen bug was caused by double tap to wake option, which i had enabled earlier from the command line. The bug is gone after disabling the function.
One more thing to consider if you want to install Sailfish is camera quality: there are problems with focusing in low light (seems to be a problem on Xperia X as well: https://together.jolla.com/question...focus-or-picture-sharpness-seems-non-optimal/). It will probably be fixed in the next build though

Noticed the same after 2 days. Too bad really, because in good light, the camera is very good.
Going to add review in op...
stupid question: I need the boot loader unlocked?

as posted in op, not sure if available for this phone. Seems like there is official support from Jolla for Xperia X, (search for SailfishX), but it's a paid service, and only officially available in certain countries. For unofficial support, you just have to search...

Did all fastboit commands return successful, (ok)? If ao, try a different vendor img. There are several to choose from. I flashed from O, but the oem file was for N. Also, try using script first. Flash manually only if you have to.

the download is a zip file with an img file inside. You need to extract the img to flash it.
