Hey guys, me again with my ever so slow tinkering I've put together. Welcome to BenczeOS v 1.1 Umad.
What the heck is that? Good question, I'm glad you asked. Bencze Operating System!
This originally started off as a joke and I decided why not run with it and actually make this into an rom. Just like google, I decided to give my version a code name. Umad is v 1.0 - xx
So that being said let's get started. First things first:
Thread rules: Do not troll my thread. Please be respectful of other members. If you run into problems that are not listed in "known issues" then you may mention it. However a logcat would be helpful if you actually expect me to be able to fix the issue. Most issues (not all) are user error. Some times additional mods or apps you install may conflict. So before you blame me for anything please ensure you did a clean flash and also confirm that the issue was present before you restored/installed anything additional to what I have provided.

So this is my own creation based on stock CM 11s, with added tweaks and features not found in stock rom. The goal is to share my work with the community as an alternative to stock 11s with added features.
There are no nightly builds, and not likely weekly builds either (we'll see how much time I have).
If you are looking for a rom with a ridiculous amount of features or a slim, debloated rom you should look elsewhere. This is not the rom you are looking for

REBOOT AND WAIT FOR YOUR APPS TO OPTIMIZE (ONE TIME ONLY)

Additional info:
If you want Omni switch to work properly you also need to enable the disable signature check module. Otherwise you will get Restricted access mode which is pointless

or it's an extremely long time to boot. I did all the wiper, etc.. from the first post - and also flashed the ICS ('249 gapps)? Were we supposed to flash the ROM first, let it reboot and then flash gapps?

I flash rom and gapps in one shot with twrp. The kernel is already included. First boot will take a little while.

am confused every rom coming out now looks the same minus a few options....this looks exactly like jaimes,dag roms.. so what makes this difference?...what is added there dosent?

Nice work my friends...hopefully this is the only Roms you plan to port for 2011 xperia devices cause porting only ONE Roms is easy to maintain and plenty of update rather than porting too many of different type of Roms with fewer update and bug fixes....

i hv followed ur instruction and flash gapps too..but when i enter to set up mobile for first time and input my google account then OK it say "unfortunately set up wizard forced closed" am i made mistake? or i must change another gapps?
that's odd maybe u do something wrong or latest gapps have problem as u using the pervious one but u first say that

A note from the Dev...
V1.0 is obviously just the beginning, and i intend to add features, mainly more audio mods, and work on the kernel more. The kernel has some extra govs etc, but there is a lot more work to be done on it. It is stable though and serves its purpose. If you remember my rom from the S6, youll notice i am taking a different approach with this rom, so be nice, i am still working out best methods for applying major mods without relying on TWRP.
Applying mods with rom control
My Rom Control app is unconventional. I use it to run scripts to add and remove Audio mods etc.
To apply an audio mod, select what you wish on the Audio mod page, then select the Apply section. This runs the scripts to apply the mods. Audio mods need a manual reboot to fully apply.
To apply a SystemUI mod, simply select and apply mod and it will reboot systemui automatically and mods will then be present.
To apply misc mods, pressing Apply will do a full hot reboot to activate.

It's QF7 base. Is the new bootloader not compatible?
Also the room doesn't wipe caches, so you need to do that manually. Did you clean or dirty flash?

I tried a clean flash. I had issues too. I did some research and i found that twrp wasnt wiping the data partition properly. I also read this has been an issue elsewhere. Also twrp wouldnt even format my sdcard. What i did.. was go into twrp settings and untick the "rm -rf" method to format sdcard. This changes the format method to a more robust method. Im not sure why its ticked by default.
This also means that i had to wipe out or "nuke" my device. But this explains other issues i was having earlier last week. Data may not be getting wiped properly. This includes dalvik and caches.
This may be a talked about issue, and there may be fixes somewhere but i havent been around the s8 long enough to know about it yet.
Another thing you could try is flashing a custom kernel of another breed. See if ive done something in my kernel to affect this. But i doubt it as it seems to be a twrp issue to me.
Edit.. after formatting my sdcard with the other method in twrp and starting super clean, my device booted normally.
On a separate note, ive noticed csc didnt install properly there are some files missing. So if you want to correct the csc then use the csc installer in the s8 threads. Ill push an update tonight.

How to install the rom:
For advanced users:
0. Make sure to have a backup somewhere on external storage
1. Make sure to be on most recent TWRP, bootloader and modem
2. Flash the rom
3. If you need VoLTE or Wifi Calling, flash your correct carrier CSC
4. Done :highfive:
For normal users:
0. Boot your phone, enable OEM unlock in developer settings
1. Flash TWRP with Odin, following this thread Note 8 TWRP until it works correctly (to access download mode, press bixby+volume down+power on while phone is turned off)
2. Make sure you are using most recent bootloader and modem, latest one available here on Android File Host
3. Now boot into TWRP by pressing bixby+volume up+power on while phone is turned off
4. If TWRP asks you about allowing system to be edited, swipe yes to confirm
5. In TWRP, go to wipe, format data (a keyboard will pop up now), type "yes" (this will wipe all your data, make sure to have a backup!)
6. After this, reboot recovery and start the rom installer
7. Select your preferences in my aroma installer, make sure to chose NO ROOT for the first rom flash so dalvik-cache can be build properly!
8. If you selected to auto update bootloader in aroma, the installer will reboot automatically
9. You can still install my CSC selection if you are customer of a carrier which is not supported by default CSC inside the rom
10. Wait till the rom boots up
11. Go though the setup and boot back into twrp. Then flash your preferred root method in the recovery
12. After setting up, open IronControl Free and let the app apply my default settings!
13. Enjoy the rom!

so i installed b2, prior to this build and got the same experience so reverted to renovate., downloaded ur new rom today, clean flashed it, as soon as i try to restore my 29 apps from tibu, and reboot, the screen just flashes like crazy and i'm unablee to use the phone unlock it or do anything, same thing happened to b2.
I did remove that stupid 3minit battery app and it's resources apk. is that something to do with it? if so can we have a option in aroma not to have 3minit battery?
I did not remove anything else prior to restoring my own apps and rebooting.
On renovate when i do the same thing i do not experience the same result.

If you remove 3minit = systemui crash. Why? The systemui relies on it, that's why we have the romcontrol to disable it. The apps don't run in the background, they don't use any space, nor ram, nothing. There is no reason to delete those apks. If you choose to have the stock UI you won't get them installed of course.
I explained once back on SuperMan why I will NOT make a separate systemui with/without 3minit and that will stay the same for now.

Another masterpiece from the Roger Federer of XDA, runs beautiful on N8, no issues, hope you can crack the CSC encryption in the future but you've pretty much nailed it so far, thanks for your work.

sorry i brother i never used ur roms before so i wouldn't had any prior knowledge.

It's fairly common for FD devices that had the missing OEM unlock to lose root when using magisk in initial flashes, doesn't appear to me they know why.

What does that mean???
Good luck finding a ROM (official or custom) that doesn't have stuff you don't want in it, if you want such a ROM then develop your own.
This Dev is one of the best so seeing that comment is insulting.
He makes it quite clear that the settings are disabled in ROM Control and with them disabled they have no influence on the system whatsoever.
Your loss in skipping this ROM, one of the best in my opinion.

Tried the beta. Love this rom very much. Quick and smooth. Unfortunately, I am also on an FD. Was jailed 7 days when I was on the beta, blamed it on myself for my carelessness but this OEM thingy is my phobia. Agreed with you, it's about staying alive for FD users.

Was in the beta. the OEM unlock was hidden. I've already downloaded this stable version. Have yet to install. On reserve mode and ready to go anytime after better understanding in this discussion. You know our fingers are always itchy to try more even if we already know that FD is always at risk. That's the spirit ya?
Is this rom purely based on the note 8 ...Or is it like the beta that was comparable with s8 and s7 edge ? Cause had some theming problems when I was on the beta ...The contact page wasn't theming correctly...That's why asked ?

Well, I must say, this is my ROM. It's so feature rich packed with useful mods. Till now runs smooth and stable.
Aroma installation guides you through wipe options, debloating and feature. I am really impressed. I found my daily driver...
Finally I got a suggestion. There is still the problem with appearance of OEM-Unlock Toggle for many N8 users.
Most Custom ROMs hide this toggle. Isn't it possible to show the toggle and its status and just disable it, instead of hideing?
