[Q] What is the easiest way to extend the memory capacity of a KitKat phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
What is the easiest way to expand the usable memory for apps on an Android KitKat phone which is rooted? I have seen many apps and solutions to this. Link2SD looks to be the simplest. I want to enable the device to use the external SD card to store apps and data to. The phone I have, LG L70 D321 has 2GB of phone storage and 2GB of internal RAM (ridiculous). I have a 16GB external SD card which I want to load the apps onto since the other space is already exhausted.
The solution should be transparent to the end user, meaning that when they install a new app, it simply gets installed to the SD card without having to do anything extra like assigning paths or anything.
Thanks everyone.

There are a few apps that will install them on sd cards but be warned it will hurt performance and may cause issues. Also no widgets for anything on sd card.

[Q] Prevent apps from installing to SD in ICS?

Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I've seen this question in 3 different topics on XDA and none of them is answered. My question is similar to this; Apps are installed on internal memory but app data is on external. As a result i have a completely empty internal memory and a full sd card. Tried possible suggestions on other sites but didn't work. Why can't we choose where to install the app data? How to move the app data back, since app2sd wouldn't work on this situation.
FYI, buy a bigger memory card is NOT a solution, it's a workaround for the actual problem..

Looks like your problem can be solved with "link2sd" which gives a permanent option on where to install apps. Search it in Google Play.
In my case (i have three different memory blocks) you have to do a repartition and a custom rom but i don't want to go there so i just mapped the drives with editing vold.fstab and bought a bigger memory card

[Q] LG Realm 4.4.2 - Setting SD Card as Primary Storage?

Hi all,
I just got my hands on a Boost Mobile LG Realm. It turns out this phone only has 1gb of internal storage. I popped in a micro sd thinking it would solve the issue. It turns out that you cannot save apps to the SD card. Shoot, some of my apps don't even have the option of setting the SD card as the primary save location.
I have done some research, but alas I still need some assistance. Can someone tell me how I can use my SD card as my primary storage on Kit Kat 4.4.2? I have discovered that my phone has an emulated external storage so that it stops the SD card from being used as a primary storage.
I have successfully rooted the phone via Towelroot, and I have frozen/uninstalled some bloat ware using Titanium Backup
Edit: I have attached my vold file via dropbox: dropbox com/s/ihpfoo4h79kaphx/vold.fstab?dl=0
Like I said I have done some research and the code in my vold file does not match the ones in the guides.

Your gonna be kinda stuck. While you can move the apps to sdcard with a few tools the app data will still be on the internal storage. There are a few ways to move that also but due to the way sd cards work on Android it kills app performance and may even stop the app from working all together. This is due to android removing all sd card code from stock Android and each OEM has to add it back on their own so coding is different from one device to another.

Thanks for the reply. I understand; I guess I will have to lightly use this.

I am not able to adopt my sd card as internal memory.

So i had serious memory issues, like out of my 8gb 5.2gb was used for system data and 1gb for the default apps so i barely had room for ads , so i bought an 16gb sd card but i couldn't move all of the apps i barely could do anything on them(i dont really take photos/videos so they didn't take more than 10mb maybe). I didn't even have space to get the marshmallow update but i did some reading an apparently in the update i could adopt my sd card as internal storage and the only con was like slower speed but i don't really care for that myself. so i did a factory reset i updated to marshmallow erased my sd card memory before factory-resetting and when i finally opened the phone with 6.0 installed and went to my storage options and in sd settings all there is is eject and format, not format as internal storage, help??? also excuse me for horrible grammar/punctuation.
Right now after resetting i already have 6.2gb used out of 8gb and i didn't install one single app its all just after resetting.
Phone:Lg spirit 4g LTE(device wasnt in the main lg device page), android 6.0(marshmallow)

Not all Marshmallow firmwares / phones offer this capability. You should be able to force it from following this:

How to Install and Move Android Apps to the SD Card
Some Android phones don’t have a lot of storage, so you might run out of room for apps. If your device has an SD card slot, you can use that to expand the storage and have more room for apps. However, SD card support is more limited than it used to be.
