[Q] Need to unroot and remove Cyanogenmod for warranty repair - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I'm hoping someone can give me some tips here.
My Xperia z2 tablet has a cracked screen which is apparently serviceable under the seller's warranty, but I need to make it so that the original firmware / software etc is intact. I hope that makes sense.
The tablet is rooted and is running Cyanogenmod.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Sorry - I should also add that due to the screen crack, the whole right hand half of the touchscreen no longer works, which makes things harder again.

Update: I now managed to flash an FTF I downloaded so it appears Cyanogenmod is gone, but unfortunately it's in Russian (I think) and I can't read the setup menus - or press the 'next' button, which is in the bottom right of the touchscreen.

Maybe you should try some sort of remote control software like VNC?

Poting Android 2.1 (2.2) to a 1.6 device

Hi guys
I've bought an Eken M001 Android Tablet on eBay and want to upgrade it to Android 2.1!
http://www.merimobiles.com/Eken_M001_7inch_Android_WIFI_Tablet_p/meri0398.htm
What do I need for that or can you guide me to an dedicated Howto?
Probably not possible... yet
Hi!
That's probably not possible yet unless all the needed drivers have been released for it and unless someone have been able to root the device yet.
So unless they release an official 2.1 upgrade for that thing (looks like an interesting device) you are probably stuck on 1.6 for now.
download an app called Slideme. its a market alternative, and will let you install apps from sd. the device might come with root available to you. just copy the contents, and get to the art of porting. im not exactly sure how you would go at that, but im pretty sure, installing apps would be usefull. i might need to pick one of these up.
do you know if the screen is capacitive or resistive. that website doesnt really say

Judging by how hard he has to press the screen to get icons/widgets/links to respond, I'm going to say the screen is resistive. The screen also appears to have anti-glare coating, something not usually found in capacitive displays at this time.
-mak
I'm playing with this device since friday afternoon, so here are my first impressions:
- responsiveness isn't very high, needs sometimes a second and hader tap to do an action
- seems to be slow but can't tell you if it's the CPU or Android 1.6
- 2 hours are fast elapsed
- have a cracked DocumentsToGo pre-installed
- have a file manager pre-installed
- MAC address for WiFi is missing
- has builtin G-Sensor (portrait and landscape support)
- ac power adaptor doesn't fit german power sockets, had to "cut down" it a little bit
- really "cheapish" look, the white body isn't white (some way of a pissed white )

hd2 n00b questions

I am purchasing an hd2 that has a non-responsive touch screen (not cracked/broken) from someone off of craigslist. I'm willing to take a chance and hope i'm lucky enough that it's not a complete hardware issue 'cause I obviously won't have any warranty.
My question(s) are:
Can you navigate through the phone and within the apps itself using only the physical buttons?
If I try to replace a digitizer with the ones on ebay for 30-40, do these need soldering? Has anyone had any success trying these? I'm aware that may not completely resolve the issue.
Will t-mobile (my carrier) provide me with an unlock code?
If I flash it with android do all the features of the phone work? WiFi, sound, camera, etc?

As Samsamuel said no there is no navigation buttons on the HD2, you have to use the touch screen.

I have not checked out the digitizers you refered to on Ebay but I would suggest you buy a LCD digitizer assembly already together tbat requires no soldering. This will allow one much easier instalation and replace both major parts that have to work to solve your problem. So you should be assured you will fix the problem.

Yes if you are currently a T-Mobile costumer they will must likely give you the unlock code, but you have to contact them.

Yes on just about all NAND Andriod ROMs for the HD2 have everything functioning with only very minor things being buggy.

i find this kind of odd. most electronics used to be configured where if you couldn't access the primary input there was always a secondary option...kind of like how if your mouse wasnt working, you can still do everything with a keyboard. granted, this isn't in the same category but engineering has definitely fallen off in the way of profits as opposed to proper functionality these days.
i came across this piece of software called 'mymobilizer' which lets you control and see the device and its screen from a computer. i installed but i can't connect because it requires an authentication on the device (press ok to allow or cancel to deny) and i was hoping the home, windows, or call key would act as an enter but unfortunately no. that would have at least given me some kind of flexibility to at least play around with it in it's current state and i was so close yet so far...
are there any other softwares just like this?

^ here's an example of what i'm referring to.
i dont think (or hope) that it needs a new lens since it looks to be in good shape and the t-mobile US HD2s digitizers don't require soldering from what i've been reading so is it a matter of simply unplugging it from the ribbon or what have you and inserting/plugging the replacement back in?
are there any good guides that focus just on the screen/digitizer disassembly and replacement? I saw that one video on youtube but it's not really a great step by step tutorial.

i currently only have a 1gb sd card on me, is it possible to install android from a card with that little capacity? i was reading one where the minimum requirement was 4gb.
If you buy the one on craiglist I wouldn't worry about SD card size as with a dead screen you won't be doing much with it except for use as door wedge perhaps.
dead screens are normally a hardware issue stripping the HD2 is not the simplest plus eBay screen parts are cheap poor quality junk.
If buyining a used HD2 you need to buy a good one & preferably a revision moel with the yellow reset button.

Yeah I agree have traded functionality for profits to a certain extent. And I agree not having any kind of control with any external buttons is a drag, bit it is a all touch screen device. The link you posted shows a LCD and digitizer wich is what I was talking about and yes this kind is the solderless kind that just plugs into the mainboard. I personally have not done it but I have read about people that have and watch a video or two.
As far as a spacific video to watch I really don't have one to suggest but seach YouTube really good you should find something that will help you out.
Now on the SD card I would get atleast a 2GB to 4GB.
The link is just the digitizer.

[Q] Xperia Mini - NOT Pro - with front camera

Hello guys, I know it could sound really weird for you all, but here's my point: I just bought an Xperia Mini on eBay from a user claiming he had received it directly from Sony Ericsson as a free sample. I received it yesterday, it was unpacked and was sold together with the battery charger only. Nothing too strange.
By the way, after about half an hour I realized the phone had a front camera.
Ok, I watched the video and i know I'm a noob on XDA. But I'm no stupid
So don't tell me it's the light/proximity sensor! I wouldn't be here! It's a working front camera, since I can switch between this one and the "normal" one and take pictures. Here is a picture of the phone:
EDIT
Looks like I can't post links, so I'll just skip this step
Anyway, the other strange thing is that the phone comes with Android 2.3.3, build 4.0.A.2.368, and I can't update it. Not directly from the phone, nor using PC Companion. It just keeps saying the software is up to date.
So... have you ever heard of something like this? What should I do?
What is the phone model in the settings?
Model ST15i
I wrote to the seller, and he just answered me: he says that, working for a company that create applications for iOS and Android, they usually get five samples for each model. This is one of those. It could be, as I thought, a sort of "prototype". The thing is: I am grateful for the front camera, but I'd like to be able to get software updates, and this seems impossible. And also, I suppose that updating through "unofficial" ways would take to the impossibility of using the front camera.
i'm thinking of sending it back and buying a new one
I'm really envious right now...
really curious now.. Try adding photo's with the attachments feature !
where are you from?
can you share the link where you buy?
sorry for my bad english
Here's the picture of the phone... I wouldn't be envious at all, anyway. I have a couple of days to understand if I can update the phone, if updating causes the impossibility of using the front camera, and if - even worse - it can cause hardware incompatibilities, crashes, explosions or else. Then I have to decide if I want to send it back or not.
D'oh.
That's pretty cool... But it absolutely sucks that you can't update the firmware..
Maybe you can contact Sony and ask if there is any way to update..

I doubt it... it looks like this is a "test" version that was long ago abandoned by developers... anyway, I'd rather buy a new phone. It's easier xD

I'm italian and I bought it from a private seller, so I have a UNIQUE piece... wow, sooooo cool... lol

Do you want to buy it for 135 €? That's what I spent to get it...
If I was you, I wouldn't contact Sony about it
If it was a test product, don't think they will be happy that an Xperia Mini is roaming around in the wild with a front camera. In my opinion if you really want to update, flash a ROM that is made for the Xperia Mini Pro, then you might be able to use the front camera. There is barely any difference between the XMP and XM then the HW keyboard and the Front camera.
an update is not necessary. you can flash a custom roms

Well... how do I create a backup copy of my firmware? Because I'm not sure it's the same as the "normal" 4.0.A.2.368. By the way, if I flash a new ROM on my device, what happens if I try to restore to the original manifacturer firmware? Does the phone keep it in memory, or does it restore to the new, "clean" firmware?
Sorry for my bad English, I don't know how to explain it better -__-

Install CWM recovery and do a backup maybe it will work if anything goes wrong
This phone is original?
What you could do is flash any Rom you want, that is from a Stock Rom. BUT! Always back up your system so that you can go back to it if something goes wrong.
If you need any help on how to's and stuff like that just tell me and ill help you out.
I'm curious by this system
You can root, install recovery CWM and send me one backup?
at least you can use face unlock after the official ics update

[Q] Need help reversing accelerometer axes

To cut things short,
I've bought a Chinese phone but it had some issues.
I managed to get over most of them but I recently found out another one that screws up a lot of apps and even dailing.
Basically what is wrong is that the phone thinks it is laying face down when it is laying on its back, and it thinks its laying on it's back when it is face down.
I'm looking for a way to correct this, I'm not afraid of doing some fiddling within the fw if that's what it takes.
The phone is fully rooted and backed up.
Even though the phone was sold to run on ICS it actually runs on gingerbread.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to get this fixed then I would be very thankful.

[Q] couple of questions

So I'm new to android after having an iPhone for the past 4 years and decided I wanted a change. I couldn't decide between the z2 and the m8. I've had a HTC before and it was quite possibly the worst phone I've ever owned (hero) however I loved sense. And the xperia ui just seems too plain for me. So im wondering, if rooted would I be able to put sense 6 on my z2? Would it work the way it should or would there be limitations?
I was also wondering about the whole kid mode thing on sense / touchwiz. Can this be changed into a sort of profile for the phone? So I could have it set to my profile and have everything open to me or set it to another and have half of my stuff different. (Ie apps, logins, etc etc ) basically like having different log ins to a PC.
And my final question is; can you get the phone to have an iOS control panel (slide from the bottom). That was ridiculously helpful and its missed greatly!
On a different note, my double tap to wake can be a little off by not working and I've had a couple of occasions where my phones been in my pocket for a while and it failed to wake up (double tap or physical button) have Sony addressed these issues and is there going to be a fix? From what I can gather the double tap is a certain builds issue. I've also got a gap in the bottom left and the phone overheats shooting 4k. I'm not too bothered by the overheat but I still expected more for a flagship phone. /:
I'd send it back but I'm worried id receive a phone with even worse problems. /: almost makes me wish I'd got the m8!!
Yes there is some ported Blinkfeed from Sense6. (didn't work for me anyway) Otherwise You can try Golauncher or something else.
2nd question kid mode isn't pre-installed in this phone, not sure about what kid mode does. But I found an apps that you can try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zoodles.kidmode
3rd question you can't have exactly same things as ios, but you might like PieControl.... it's something different from what you expecting.... you may also try SmallApps(with Sony UI)
Double tap to wake is working fine for me and it should work without any problem. Before you messed it up rooting or flashing I recommend you to take it to shop and ask.
4k overheating is normal and gap is fault. Definitely you can get new XZ2. Gap issue is not good with waterproof.

I mean, once rooted is there a way I can put sense6 on my phone as a whole? Not just blinkfeed..
Yeah, I've seen with a few security apps that you can password protect particular apps and stuff but I was wondering if there was a way you could have different profiles set for the phone which youd have to log into for example.
Thanks for the info, I shall give those two a go!
Yeah, I think I'll go into a three store tomorrow. Is there a production line that's fault free so far?
Thanks for the help so far, sorry if I didn't make my original questions clear enough!

Sorry it's my misunderstood. Yes there is no sense poted rom for XperiaZ2 and there will be no sense ported rom in future,I bet.
I've seen Sense Ported ROM on GalaxyS2 but it's discontinued..... so it's very difficult to port it.
Have fun with your XperiaZ2! And have a nice day!
