After a lot of trial and error - finally found the solution!
In order to root:
1. Install their "king user" app from the built in Chinese "Cube Market" (just search for the word "root" or "king user" and you'll find it).
2. I tried to root it from this app, but it didn't work, so I downloaded the PC app (kingroot #dot# net), connected the device to my PC (don't forget to enable USB debugging etc...), and it'll root it. (it's in Chinese, whenever you're not sure regarding to something, use "google translate" app with the option to take a photo of the text. there OCR is great).
3. Now the "King User" will function as "Super user" app for all the permission. I tried to change it to SU, but it didn't worked so I stayed with "king user".
That's it, your device is now rooted.
Next I installed the google apps, but again - I did it from that "Cube Market", just search for "Google" and you'll find a bundle of "Google services" including google play store. Add to this the "Google play services" (also in the Cube Market), and you're good to go.
Good Luck!

Hi and thx..
but this did not work for me somehow.
I have sent an email to the seller and he sent me after some back and forth a manual incl root program.
I've attached the files here. Accept no responsibility for problems.
root.rar is only an .doc file with pic's
worked at the first time and installed after rooting the google service automatically.
i hope i can help anyone who have the same problems
greets

Thanks for the info and files.
I did find however that the version of Root software in your post is different from the one in the instructions making it impossible to follow the instructions.
I clicked a few icons until it took me to their homepage... http://www.dashi.com/zhuodashi/shuaji.html
It seems if you download the latest version from there the version, layout and icons etc. match the instructions you provided.
Thanks

Hello. after one month of trials...
It's ok for me! with my cube u25gt-bn but only with the root tool updated
Thanks a lot inspectaclueso !
You must follow instructions exactly like described on the .doc notice (into the file "root.rar") on the first page of this thread
Good luck.

Can you elaborate on the steps you took? The tool is quite different from the one described in the doc. My U25GT-BN is already rooted, but I can't install google services. Thanks.
[EDIT] Never mind that, I followed the suggestion of @inspectaclueso for downloading the latest version and IT WORKED. This thread should be marked as solved!

Thx
thanks very much, but we need download lastest version in site that inspectaclueso informed

[Q] build.prop for Moto X ingress

Exactly what the title suggests, will the s4 be able to spoof as the Moto X for ingress for the new weapon? And will it be possible to only spoof that app? And what kind of harm can come of this?
Edit:.. I meant to say the new Droid ultra/maxx/Mini one of those should work.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
remember how quick they made the galaxy photosphere camera work without hacking the build prop? this should be a couple days tops. I heard that only the motorolas can get the new bursters from hacks. but all can fire plus they will probably be dropped from codes like all the new mods.

If we could get a hold of the build.prop from the Moto X, we could copy the ro.product.brand, ro.product.name, and ro.product.device information, that would probably work. :good:

I replaced ro.product.brand, ro.product.name, and ro.product.device with information from one of the other released phones, and when launching ingress got a bonus intro package of gear for using the new Motorola device. So changing them does work.
I won't tell you which phone or what the values I changed them to are though, as technically it's cheating. I did just to see if it would work.
I'm still questioning the morality of using the ill-gotten items myself, may end up just recycling the items while at 100% XM and revert to my original build.prop.

Gee thanks..
Didn't work for me.
I wonder how the Google always listening feature works on the moto x? Is it just like some of our features where it barely works? Or is it straightforward? Would love to have that ported and run on our phone.

[OTA][Nexus 7 (2013) LTE]signed-razorg-KVT49L-from-KOT49H.899e0334.zip

Here is the latest "Verizon patch" OTA for your Nexus 7 (2013) LTE for anyone that wants it. The OTA doesn't seem to push unless you pop in a VZW SIM card. This is Android 4.4.2 Revision 2 and is 37MB in size. It applies only to Nexus 7 (2013) LTE devices on build KOT49H and will update you to build KVT49L. It was done at Verizon's request so I cannot confirm 100% this update doesn't kill puppies. It didn't break my ability to use my phone SIM in my Nexus 7 and tethering (I have a this on my phone data plan) still worked so not sure how evil it is.
Direct Download: Google
Unrooted, stock users can use the sideload instructions here.
Rooted stock users should not flash this OTA.
This patches a lot of things, including the radio, breaks root, and replaces the recovery. I wouldn't be surprised if it replaced your entire music library with Britney Spears tracks.
Instead, the factory recovery images are available now at Google's Developer website. If you want to flash to this version without losing data or replacing your recovery (you will lose root but reinstall Superuser with TWRP/CWN/Philz), then download the factory recovery image and modify it.
Use the install script below (removed -w from fastboot flash image) and remove recovery.img, userdata.img, and cache.img from image-razorg-kvt49l.zip. I attached the script as flash-all.bat.txt for convenience. Remove the .txt extension from it if you want to use it.

No need to do all that. Just be stock and have stock recovery installed. Take the ota and reroot. Being unlocked and rooted won't cause a problem but you will loose root because like I said reroot. If you have a custom recovery it will just not install causing no problems.

[REQUEST] Please add this brightness mod so AOSP can get as bright as Touch Wiz

I'm posting here because Slim is my favorite AOSP type ROM.
We all know that AOSP ROM's for TouchWiz phones can't get as bright in direct sunlight as the stock TouchWiz ROM can.
Please see if you can use this mod somehow, so Slim auto-brightness can get as bright as TouchWiz can.
All CM/Slim ROM's have only a "1" for Auto_Brightness. While TouchWiz has anywhere from 1-7 and that's why TouchWiz gets brighter.
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 2 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 3 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 4 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 5 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 6 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
echo 7 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness

Credit goes to @hatcyl because it was his thread over in the Note II subforum that got me pointed in the right direction to figuring out how we can do this on our Note 3.
As I've presented it here, this script will enable an extra ~5-10% brightness from your Note 3 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 OLED display in both rooted TouchWiz and AOSP ROM's.
When enabled, you lose all ability to adjust brightness. So you have to disable this mod after you don't need the extra brightness any longer.
All needed scripts are attached to this post.
To enable, you use this script:
enable_extra_max_brightness.sh
To disable, you use this script:
enable_manual_brightness.sh
To go back to auto-brightness, you use this script:
enable_auto_brightness.sh
I used Tasker to set up shortcuts on my desktop. One click sets the brightness how I want it.
I don't recommend this mod for anyone unless you absolutely need a little extra brightness juice to read the screen under direct sunlight. This mod makes all colors overblown/ugly looking, until you go back to normal brightness modes.
I think I'm going to learn how to get AutoVoice going with Tasker so I can set up a voice activated command that will enable/disable this brightness mod. Because I have a hard time reading my screen (dark themes) under direct Texas sunlight!!!
ps. Like I said, I'm using Tasker. So I haven't tested these scripts, other than the command that is inside them. Let me know how it works out for you!
DO NOT LEAVE THIS MOD TURNED ON FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE OR TWO. IT'LL EVENTUALLY FRY/BURN-IN YOUR OLED DISPLAY IF OVERUSED! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OTHER SIDE-EFFECTS THIS MOD MIGHT CAUSE.
If a dev out there can figure out how to enable this mod and not lose adjustability of manual-brightness, that would be freakin sweet. :good:

Tell that to Samsung since it's incorporated into stock TouchWiz.

[Q] [HELP][MT65xx][ROM] Locked/OS FUBAR/no brick but still heavy

Hi, thank you for taking the time reading my post and any help or directions you could give to solving my problem.
I was given a phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) to replace my aging LG Optimus P509.
When I received the SGN3 I did a wipe of the user data so it was pristine through the recovery feature to put it back to 'stock'.
And that's when my issues began.
PROBLEM #1
First thing that happened after wiping is I 'lost' the internal 16Gb SD storage.
PC would only see the 2Gb's of application storage. Android system would see the 16Gb's, BUT it was reported as 'filled' with 15Gb's of data. If I just DID a wipe of the user data then where did all this 'data' come from???
So started looking around the system using different root explorers to see if I could manually delete the bloated data.
Couldn't find it.
I DID discover that the 'folder' that the 16Gb storage was under had no permissions. Just a series of dashes where the permissions would be listed. The OS's corrupted somehow...
Used a different Home loader and IT was reporting the 16Gb internal SD storage as there and pretty much empty. But still no access.
So I take it to a 'phone repair' place and explain to the guy what my issue was. Figured he was just going to look around and see what he could see. Nope, he starts pressing buttons and gets to the "recovery screen"...eventually. When I realized what he had did it was too late to stop him.
PROBLEM #2
The 'recovery screen' was not what I once saw, blue and orange screen with a droid on it, to a black screen with white characters with three options. Fast Boot, Recovery, Normal
AND the screen was now upside down in orientation and you could not use the 'enter' key (volume up). Refuses to select anything. So no more recovery option.
I learned through researching the issues here on XDA that a replacement ROM would be something I should do to address my issues, just reflash. Start anew.
I learned that the Device (Samsung Galaxy Note3) is NOT a SGN3! It's a KnockNote (my term). To my understanding you cant flash an OEM ROM on a non-OEM device. It's a Mediatek MT65xx device, made by China.
So I start looking around for a ROM to put on there. Not much that I can understand...
Here is the kernel information that 'could' help with identifing the device.

So I began using it as basically a PDA until I could get things sorted out.
PROBLEM #3
I allowed my niece (9yrs) to play some games on it and...she set up a very nice and complicated pattern lock that was so pretty to her that she forgot the pattern. not a problem as long as wi-fi or cell service is on...which this device has neither.
(no SIM, I turned off wifi before I handed it to her)
My questions are these:
Q 1 : Can I install a recovery ROM, stock ROM to the device?
If so, can you direct me (link) to where I can find the one I should use, based on your knowledge?
Q2: I can not get into the phone (pattern lock), is there a way to establish a connection to the phone even though I don't have access to 'developer options'?
Q3: Could you describe the steps needed to complete this task, I KNOW there are tuts galore. That's part of the problem. So many different ways, options, etc.
Since I am residentially challenged at the moment due to a fire this device is pretty critical to me and I can't screw it up, no fails, no bricks.
If you can offer any advice on how to resolve my issues your help is very much appreciated.
If you need any more information about the device or require clarification please ask your questions.
Additional Information:
No WiFi (local/cell)
No Cellular Service
No 'developer/debug options' (because I am locked out of device with a pattern lock, see above) :crying:
No Adb

If this post is in the wrong place please direct me where to place it. XDA is a large place with a lot to sort through.

Change build.prop for diabetes app

Hi All
Can anyone help me here, i want to change the device name for a Kenzo
I did use a build.prop that was posted in the official LOS thread but it was for a Samsung Note 7
See this link: https://www.dexcom.com/faq/what-devices-and-software-are-compatible-dexcom-cgm-apps
Basically i need to change the device name to one of the following:
Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 6.0.0-6.0.1), Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (Android 6.0.0-7.0.0), Samsung Galaxy S6 (Android 6.0.0-7.0.0), Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (Android 6.0.0-6.0.1), Samsung Galaxy S7 (Android 6.0.1-7.0.0), Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Android 6.0.1-7.0.0); LG G4 (Android 6.0.0), LG G5 (Android 6.0.1-7.0.0); Motorola Nexus 6 (Android 6.0.0-7.0.0), Samsung Galaxy S8 (7.0.0), Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus (7.0.0), LG G6 (7.0.0)
I understand the principle of it, using root explorer etc I am just a bit hesitant about modifying files, knowing my luck i will brick the phone
Here is an S8 build.prop, is it just a case of editing the ro.product.name?
https://dl.xda-developers.com/4/2/2/9/0/5/8/build.prop.txt?key=iXKx0YegZjecFfHCDV6utA&ts=1507578114
Go to build.prop
Find
ro.product.model= Redmi note 3
ro.product.brand=Xiaomi
ro.product.manufacturer=Xiaomi
Then change name, brand, manufacturer according to your liking.
No chance of bringing phone but make backup.

By changing build.prop it won't allow restricted apps to work. It will show incompatibility error or fc. Which Samsung app do you want to install? There are good alternatives for all Samsung apps if not better.

They have support for Samsung devices only in Android so it's almost impossible to make it work. BTW try market helper. Don't know if it still works.
