Is the update rolling out now ???
I dunno.... But I saw in YouTube that s5 got the Lollipop update.... Next will be Note 4 and then Alpha and then s5mini and s4mini
But grand 2 isn't mentioned...
soooo bad ?? we want lollipop ... i hope they make it for grand 2

If Sammy gives it to the S4 Mini, we will get it.
But we won't get any new updates.
The Grand 1 is the biggest example of all.
Leaks kept saying it'd get 4.4.x. It did not.
I think grand was not capable of update but grand 2 is .....so we should get it but even if we get it we will get it in march or June or even later than that and if it doesn't get than XDA is always there we will get lollipop anyhow CM12 is already work in progress it boots but has many bugs ...but they will be eliminated eventually.. So best of luck for our device.

Wait ... you really got a point!! Thanks!
I think of porting it from some other Sammy device that will get it and have the same board. Porting will be by hand and using CM11 or CM12. Both are good bases, but don't think that there's a chance in a hundred that the RIL would work.

Galaxy S3 – We have received this update from Samsung and after our rigorous testing, has been approved and passed to Samsung for release. We hope for this to begin pushing out to O2 handsets over the coming week or two (hopefully before the end of the month) so keep your eyes peeled on your update screen. We'll let you know if there are any unforeseeable issues or delays that crop up.

Honestly what interests me the most is the official kernel which should provide the official drivers so even if only the US variant gets the official update, shouldn't be that bad.

Not sure that would really help that much since the US variants use very different hardware (Qualcomm processor, Qualcomm Audio and Radio). It would only be useful if Samsung includes updated drivers for our international models.

Yeah.. I read the same somewhere else too...
Samsung says that it is because of the lack of RAM the international S3 has (only 1gb).
I don't know the real reason, though, as there have been many AOKP as well as AOSP for 4.4.2 and they are quite stable on S3.
Samsung Marketing reasons?
I guess... If at all the us variants gets the update.. With kernel source... developers can page it to the international varinats too

You don't have to go to Macedonia for update. Kies checks if your Mega has the CSC for Macedonia then downloads and installs as appropriate. Altenatively there is ODIN method of updating.
Anyway that is not the point of this thread. there is nothing for Mega 5.8 even for "Timbuktu"!

As I said even 4.3 there is nothing from Samsung.
dont buy samesung products. they just keep on releasing new devices and then don't even release an update for their old devices that is more capable of upgrade like kitkat.

Samsung devices inspite of its shortcomings has more accessories available. Example if I want a spare battery most of the time it is available compared to other brands.

I agree with bongski55, batteries are available. Just sad that there is no update.
If there is any consolation, I read a lot of posts regarding problems with Kitkat. The biggest problem of which the difficulty in reverting to previous version.
NEW UPDATE for Chile....But still 4.2.2....At least there is.....

Yes there is a ROM that's for the Fassy but one of the devs is busy working on 5 other devices to port ROM over for the device everything has been updated to 5.0 just waiting on the ROM
