This is a custom recovery flashable zip of the F400K V20C. This requires ROOT and Custom Recovery. Flash at Your own Risk!

2----->Place the F400K20C.zip and Super User zip on internal storage.
3----->Reboot into recovery and backup existing ROM(if you wish)
4----->Perform a factory wipe with recovery and flash the F400KV20C.zip and the latest Super User zip(which is Required for ROOT access in Lollipop Android version 5.0).
5----->Reboot System which can take a little bit.

This will work only on CWM flashable zip stock (because you need CWM to flash the zip, obviously):
- Flash this first:
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip
- Then flash this:

Now, people are wondering if it's possible to root from OTA/kdz update (like we originally rooted stock JB). In theory it should be. Basically what I did with this root fix is I've added one line to one of init scripts (which all run with root permissions). This line is starting the install-recovery.sh script (which is provided with SuperSU zip package). With KK it's not enough to just drop su binary to /system/xbin - you also have to start daemon (as root). Whatever rooting method you are trying to use has to add a line to one of startup scripts which starts the SuperSU script. If one such method is found please post here, I will also update the OP.

1) Download and install TowelRoot.
2) Varcain's patch
Add string "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh &" to the end of /system/etc/init.engdo.post_boot.sh
or just simply replace it by Varcain edited version
this file.
It's neccessary to get root after each boot.
NOTE!!! YOU MUST SAVE ORIGINAL PERMISSIONS TO THAT FILE (rw-, r--, r--)
3) Delete last string "/system/etc/install-recovery-2.sh" from the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
NOTE!!! YOU MUST SAVE ORIGINAL PERMISSIONS TO THAT FILE (rwx, r-x, r-x)
Congratulation! You get rooted phone
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When I did it the first time, I tried to install SuperSU 2.0 from the Market. He did not want to upgrade properly. Finally I got a soft-broken phone and repaired it by kdz firmware flasher. I'm not sure that the reason of soft-brick was SuperSU, but without it root works fine.
since I'm not a programmer, I would ask Varcain and opportunity that we end up CWM,
so that we enjoy the OTA UPDATE CM11, PA Rom 4.4.3 .......

Please could you update "varcain_rootfix.zip" for SuperSU v 2.01?
With the current "rootfix" does not work, and still wants to install SU binary.
Thanks for your work.

Instructions:
You must have adb.
1 Extract the zip on PC
2 Connect your phone to a PC with USB debugging enabled
3 Open the folder and press "shift" and the right mouse button
4 Select "Open command window here"
Follow the commands now:1 adb push aboot.img / data / local / tmp
2 adb shell
3 su
4 dd if = / data / local / tmp / aboot.img of = / dev / block / platform / msm_sdcc.1 / by-name / aboot
5 exit
6 exit
7 adb push loki_flash / data / local / tmp
8 adb push recovery.img / data / local / tmp
9 adb shell
10 su
11 cd / data / local / tmp
12 chmod 777 loki_flash
13 ./loki_flash recovery recovery.img
14 reboot recovery
After your phone will reboot in cwm mode. When i did it rebooted automatically with an error:HW reset was detected.Dont worry just press the turn on button for 20 sec and the phone will reboot without giving that error again.
Big thanks to szymel00 a user of a polish android forum.
The link for the zip: (http://d-h.st/2kk)
Tested without any virus.
I didn't have to flash anything
I used the app KingRoot(not in appstore). It just rooted and it was just done. Later that day it rooted jelly bean version as well.
PS! You have to allow unknown sources when running apk-s from outside play store.

[Q] help rooting visual land prestige elite 10q

I am looking for any help or information on rooting visual land prestige elite 10q please help
Me too!!!
Root (& install SuperSu) AND install Xposed Framework w/o TWRP/CWM/a custom recovery
Visual Land Prestige Elite 10 QL
I have a Visual Land Prestige Elite 10QL tablet. I spend two days trying to root/get SuperSu to install/get a custom recovery so that I could install a ROM or Xposed Framework. I had a very hard time, but with A LOT of research... I found the below information.
Rooted with Kingroot
Added Super Su, but would not install properly. If you root with Kingroot and want to use Super Su as your superuser instead of Kingroot's, I found the fix. Install Super Sume , which will delete the Kingroot files (but will not unroot the phone) and will replace with the Super Su files.
Then get this!!! Because TWRP and CWM custom recoveries are not compatible with VL PE 10ql tablets, I could not use them to flash a custom ROM or install Xposed Framework.
But, I found a fix!
You CAN install Xposed Framework without TWRP/CWM custom recovery.
I did a Nandroid backup using Titanium Backup and saved to SD card, although it is brand new and I could just do a factory reset if it screwed up. I don't recommend going to the next step before doing a Nandroid backup. (google it)
Use FlashFire to flash Xposed Framework directly w/o custom recovery.
Download the latest derivative version of Xposed for Lollipop (Android 5.0 or 5.1) by romracer. You need two files, the Xposed installer apk and the Framework flashable zip. Read about it and get the files here: Xposed Files Please Read Their Q&A to make sure you get the correct files!
1. Install the Flashfire app
2. Open The FlashFire app, then grant superuser when requested.
3. Tap the plus (+) button at the bottom to show the menu.
4. Choose “Flash ZIP or OTA” menu, and keep the “Auto-mount” option unchecked then tap checkmark icon to continue.
5. Tap the EverRoot menu, and ensure every single options remains unchecked.
6. Leave the Reboot menu to normal to boot system after flash.
7. Just hit the "Flash" button to start the process.
8. You will get a blank screen, then display the contents of your system just before it start the flash procedure. Don't freak out! Your device will reboot and it may take awhile.
9. Find the Xposed Module Management APK file (download file or system files), open it, follow the directions
10. Start customizing by installing modules from the repository!
Thanks to Robbie S www.andromods.com for contributing much of directions for installation

Your comprehensive guide to rooting the NC5 and fixing it if/when something goes wrong
To start out I found it very time consuming to find the 'right' information on rooting the NC5 or that it wasn't possible. So I went on the mission to see if i get what was out in the wild to work.
Well I figured it out and I hope this helps!
Step One: Charge your phone! In the event we need to use Odin to fix a boot-loop/soft-brick.
Step Two: Check your version number. As the title suggests this method is only for Verizon Galaxy S4 NC5!
(ENABLE USB DEBUGGING AND UNKNOWN SOURCES IN SETTINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING)
Step Three: Time to download the tools we will need to get this done. Place these files on your SD card. This is the only time you will need your computer. CLICK IT> ONE STOP SHOP
Towel Root: Okay, this is version 1 of the app. I know there are newer versions but they don't work and this does so use it. Select and install. Open the app and select 'make it rain', your phone will reboot and base root has been achieved!
Super User: Select and install. Open the app and install the SU binary at the prompt. The app will also ask to disable KNOX, if you do the app might hang. Home button out and try again after a reboot. Eventually it will work though a bit funky at times.
Safe Strap: Select and install. Open the app and select 'install recovery'. After it installs reboot to the recovery by selecting 'reboot to recovery'. When the recovery loads select the backup option and make a backup!
This is our recovery and allows nandroid backups(you should have done this) and flashing of safestrap ROMs. The bootloader is locked on this phone so no flashing of CM11 or any custom kernels. Do some research before you start flashing things!
Well that was easy! Now you have a rooted and safestrapped NC5 S4!
FAQ\INFO
This recovery is BETA and does not support ROM slots. Everything must be done on the STOCK slot. MAKE A BACKUP!
Nandroid backup and restore is working completely with this recovery!
If you remove Samsung Hub auto rotation will break. Attached is the library file that fixes this. Extract libgnustl_shared.so from the attached zip. Copy and paste to System\Lib and change permission to rw-r--r--. I use Root Explorer, though not free is a very good file manager. There are free alternatives on Google Play.
CREDITS DUE!
HASHCODES< Safe Strap!
CHAINFIRE< Super SU!
GEOHOT< Towel Root!
Thank you for your work. But I have a few major points to address with this:
1. There is a newer, stable SAFESTRAP out (3.75), this one also supports ROM slots, and doesn't corrupt the Non-HLOS Partition.
2. Version 3 of TowelRoot is out, and alot more stable/clean than Version 1.
3. SAFESTRAP really should be installed after busybox is installed, which you did not recommend.
The Samsung Hub Auto Rotation bug is a very nice find though! Thank you for that.
Hey thank you! I will update accordingly.
However TowelRootv3 would not root my phone. I tried changing the strings, the app just states the phone isn't supported.

Elephone P6i Modified Stock ROM (4.4.2) (Rooted)

I see a lot of people are looking for a decent ROM for the Elephone P6i. This is the firmware that came with my device, plus a few slight modifications. The recovery included is the PhilZ touch Recovery CWM 6.0.5.1, and the SU binary is already installed, as well as busybox and SuperSU as a system app. I also installed fully customizable audio modifications, including XTREMEMusic, assembled by @androidexpert35 at xda, and Sony Atmos, which are both available for download here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-beatsaudio-e-xloud-installer-t3029951
I am also posting links to both the CWM-flashable zip and the CWM backup. You pretty much have to have a custom recovery already installed to flash this zip, unless you want to go through the trouble of extracting it, then converting it to SP Flash Tool files. I might upload the files for direct flashing myself depending on the amount of requests.
Update: SP Flash Tool files have been uploaded.

* stock boot animation
Special thanks also to @ashyx for initially taking a look at this device , I haven't given up on rooting this device yet.
Special thanks to @klemen241 for helping me try out the SM-T280 build
Haven't done extensive testing on Xposed modules, but the pokemon go iv mod/hacked worked and that was good enough for me (Before pokemon Go was patched). If you use this ROM feedback is highly appreciated
NOTES: To be safe, perform a cache wipe using recovery. I didn't need to do this personally but I haven't tested all use cases
NOTES: Since this rom is deodexed, the first boot will take quite a while, so please be patient .
NOTES: if you are coming from V2 and are using the mount_ext4 apps2sd scripts please update it for additional support for the V3 ROM HERE:
https://github.com/jedld/smt285_data_scripts
NOTES: (09/13/2016) Unfortunately, the V3 build fails the Google SafetyNet check, will be a problem if you play Pokemon Go
Other Notes: Removed support for zygote.init scripts in V3 as I am now using the app_process32_xposed binary, will work to get this back soon. I haven't had a need for zygote scripts though. The vold.init scripts shoud still work as before if you are using the apps2sd script
Installation Instructions:
Odin or Heimdall Required. I you are coming from the Stock Rom please wipe/factory reset to be sure. If you are upgrading from V1 or V2 you are not required to wipe unless there are problems. If you are upgrading to V3 cache wipe is recommended using recovery.
--FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK--
1. Make sure to backup of your data and have a copy of your stock Rom in case something goes wrong.
2. Make sure your device is OEM unlocked. (Enable Developer settings and Enable the OEM unlock settings)
3. Extract ZIP file below and flash the tar.md5 file using ODIN, for details on this kindly look for instructions in the xda site.
4. For Heimdall you can use 7zip to extract the system.img from the tar.md5 and just flash the system.img itself.

Other Notes (So people don't have to ask):
* I've tried to run superuser daemonsu, but unfortunately the sepolicy scopes for vold and zygote are too narrow in this device for supersu to use despite being root. In theory a version of daemonsu can be made specifically to run on this device with a somewhat castrated functionality though I don't have access to the source code to figure it out. Navigating the sepolicy landmine is hard.

There are reports of wifi problems with the latest build due to wrong permissions with dhcp hooks, if so you can do the following (big thanks to @_mone):
Using adb shell:
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount,rw /system
chmod 755 /system/etc/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks
mount -o ro,remount,ro /system
/system is readonly by default, which is why you need the remount commands. Reboot your device after just to make sure.
Hi,
The mount_ext4_sdcard.sh script moves all apps to SD card on reboot?
Edit: did not read till the end. System apps are not move.

It won't by default for safety purposes, however you are welcome to edit the script and try to move them all

Thanks for your hard work. It's a pity this device is not as popular as their other models or more people would have already signed the petition.
I regret not doing more research before buying this tablet.
Hello there
At first i want to thank you for your hard work so far
Then i've got a question,
I just built this Tablet (LTE version) in my car. Now i'm on to configure it with Tasker to "act more like a car radio". It was really hard, because of the non rooted device.. But i did it so far
I used a sound mod, called Dolby Atmos (i think it's from lenovo?) on allmost every of my rooted devices to improve its sound.
I'm wondering if it would be possible that you could build in this mod inside a rom for me?
Normally i flash it as a zip file via a custom recovery so it's in the system files. but maybe you could edit it in there before the rom get flashed via odin? I could give you the zip, if u dont find it. It would be really nice!
Greetings from germany

Edit:
It works like a charm! You really improved my devie with it!
Hi,
If it's not too troublesome, perhaps the next version can symlink the host file to a r/w folder so that ads can be blocked.
Thanks.

Possible, though the only r/w partition is data and cache, and it may potentially cause problems when you suddenly try to do a wipe. I'm working on deodexing and porting xposed framework for now. Either that if you've got some IP addresses that need to be blocked I can create an edition that has those entries. I'll see what I can do though there might be away to do it without breaking factory reset/wipe cache.

May need to modify build.prop, you may do this yourself here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/how-to/guide-samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0-sm-t285-t3438296
Also there may be an Xposed framework modules that do that. Not sure though since I'm ok with the stock DPI

Thanks. Will need to find time to re-flash this weekend.
Regarding xposed have you actually tested any other modules that need root?
I already built a rom with xposed but it was all but useless because pretty much all the modules I use need root.
most of those I tried don't need root so far (youtube adaway, pokemon go iv). Haven't tried those that need root but I suppose those wouldn't work.
I use app settings and it works for dpi change, and you are welcome. I am glad to test stuff, its fun haha. If anyone has questions about t280 you can ask me
how can i boost the volume? since its not rooted i cant find the mixer.xml
