To install this ROM you have to follow this:
1. Use Titanium or any other sw to backup your contacts, sms, favorites and any other personal files
2. Boot into CWM / TWRP recovery and do your usual nandroid backup.
3. Flash the Flash_me_first_I_will_fail.zip which will fail. Don't worry, is ok. If you don't flash this, your Aroma will not start. TWRP users reported that they could flash directly the ROM without the fail file.
4. Flash the ROM and make your choices in Aroma. Please click on items you want even they are already selected. If not, you could end up with missing apps after reboot even you sow them selected. Sometimes, there are some visual glitches and you'll not be presented with the final reboot screen. If you see that the process is stuck for more than 5 minutes, it means that the final screen is not presented visually and you have to press twice on the low right side of the screen (just below the progress %) and your phone will reboot normally. Don't worry, the ROM is flashed correctly.
5. First reboot will take ~7-10 minutes. Just wait patiently.
6. After you setup your ROM, make all the updates from PlayStore and Samsung Apps Store if any (I used the latest apks), update SuperSu binary and reboot your phone. After this reboot you will see also the AdAway icon in your app drawer. Start the app and update it.
7. Enjoy the ROM and give feedback.[/FONT]

I take no credit for this source; I have only compiled it and built it with some added tweaks and mods.
All credit for this ROM goes with those who shared their knowledge on XDA.[/FONT]

I succeeded to deodex, root and zipalign the NK5 firmware for SM-N915F (CSC SER) with the Kitchen but it doesn't seem to install.
I tried to install it from CWM but it goes very fast thru the installation (~ 5 secs) and says installation finished.
I highly doubt that it's installing anything in those 5 secs.
If someone want to have a look in the updater-script to find what is wrong I'll be very grateful.
If someone wants to try the ROM I'll upload it somewhere.
Thank you.

Try to install it twice in a row. Send me the link I'll look at it and send it back to you. I cannot install it tho as I have the SM-915T. I just saw your link I'll look at it tomorrow sometime and send you back one that should work.

Here is the link: https://mega.co.nz/#!WR1kBYLI!LOsSS0zBCsDdtiAJsmURqsk_9W3cvjNJd--kBzKgvQU
Please be aware that the ROM is not booting!

Hi man.
Do you progress in your work?
thanks

Sorry, but no progress.
I was busy with my work and there is no one to help me with the updater-script.

Ok.
I already have this problem on my note 3.
Try to do a factory reset manually and install your rom after. Sometime, the script dont delete system and after, no enough space in system

What ROM base do you have now: NJ8 or NK5?

NK4. It's for 915FY

Have you tried to flash this ROM?
I suspect that it didn't work for me because I was on NJx base not on NKx.

and compatible with this rom 915FY '?

Install Diskinfo from playstore and check what partitions you have for cache, userdata and system.
For 915F these are: cache - mmcblk0p25, userdata - mmcblk0p27 and system - mmcblk0p24.
So, if you have same partitions ad N915F then yes, is compatible.
Good luck.

I finally managed to make a working cwm .zip of NJ8. I will try to make one also for NK5. If someone wants it just say it.
Maybe later, I'll add some mods to it if I'll find some free time.
Happy New Year to everyone!

ROM link up in OP.

sorry but this rom and compatible x SM-N915FY?

I don't have the N915FY but I think that should be ok because they have the same HW.
If you want to try, please make a nandroid backup of your ROM first. Let me know if it works.
Good luck.

ok then I do the backup and then try the rm and let you know what prog ... I can use x to backup?

First of all you need to be rooted. Are you rooted?
Once you are rooted, install Chnglu's CWM from the link in OP. After CWM installation, you can reboot your phone in recovery (shutdown the phone, press vol-up + home + power button) and perform the nandroid backup.
Good luck.

Dont work on 915FY. bootloop in note edge screen.
I cant take a valide boot.img from 915FY for put into your rom.....

After flashing the ROM, before the reboot, restore your boot from the cwm backup. It could work.
Good luck.

Could those users having other variant devices other than the "S" model please post your partition block number for system, data, and cache. I eventually intend to include your devices in a Note Edge "universal" tool. Later on, intend to also add your carrier bloatware as well.
Hello there, if you can tell us a way (noob's guide) to retrieve those numbers. That'll speed things up

Lots of ways. Terminal, root type file explorer and app.
Easiest way for you might be to install DiskInfo app from Google Play

Attached v1.1 TEST version.
Warning: I have not tested properly and researched all in the "TEST" section. Up to you to decide for now as I have to head away for a few days.

I'll try take a look on when i return on the weekend and sort out the "Test" v1.1 and then look to include the G model not long after. Will need help and input to identify the various "carrier" specific bloatware though. That's including the exact apk name and install location.
After using this tool and removing the bloatware, will we have problems installing firmware Updates?

No. You can always flash manually with Odin. You cares about KIES and OTA.....
If you mean OTA, of course if you remove certain (updater) parts of your ROM.
Won't OTA have issues ifsome apps are removed?
Of course we can update by Odin. If we update the firmware then we can remove the bloaware again right?

[A1] Already answered in previous post. ....
[A2] Yes, will need to flash CWM recovery again though because the firmware package usually has stock recovery included. If you need, obviously re-root via CWM recovery or CF-Auto-Root method

No, it won't work on other variants if your bloatware is located in different partition and or the mount points also differ. Other carrier specific bloat will differ as well.

Followed the 3 steps instructions, My SM-N915S is now rooted and flashed with the CWM 6-0-5-1
How do I proceed from here?
What do I do with the Bloatware Remover .ZIP file or is it already implemented into the CWM recovery that I just used for the flash?
How do I start the Aroma Bloatware Remover process?
Thanks,
Matty

Is there a chance to have the ROM uploaded?
Dear UpInTheAir,
Nice tool you created and it is doing the job. Thanks for that!
Nevertheless, my device is still FULL of Korean language all over,
(The weather widget, the dialer, boot screen, etc.)
Will the rom you created enable us to wipe out the Korean from the device?
Did you give up trying to load your customized rom or is there still a chance to see it here?
Thanks so much,
Matty

System and app language is not bloatware.
You need to decompile various system apk and smali edit etc. That is quite difficult with so much entwined into the framework and without causing allot of errors. Some png might be able to replace without decompiling though.
No, the ROM was only basic and was intended to stay that way. I don't actually enjoy playing with ROM and more time than i have for it.
Yes, i gave up. ....
Great tool, thanks for your effort on this.
I've used this with the latest November rom and have removed all carrier software and quite a few bits of google and samsung as well. I still find battery life quite poor with Android system and Android OS eating nearly half the battery life. Huge list of packages in System including IMS DM, Perso, Beaming service, Selfie alarm, Samsung Mirrorlink, Wallpaper picker (must be near 50). Is this just the downside of Touchwiz or fairly normal.

I have v1.2 almost ready. Been sidetracked on other things.
V1.2 is now up
Now UNIVERSAL for common Stock & Google bloatware for all deodex/odex variants (hopefully).
As I can't test others except for SM-N915S, so I'll require feedback.
For OTHER VARIANTS: You will have to tell me the exact name (case sensitive) and path (location) for carrier specific bloatware. Without, I cannot add to the tool
Cheers,

What?? That has nothing to do with their question...
But to answer them, you need LP installed, root, & recovery(from the install notes above) to even install this. Seems all you get here is deodex and zipalign.
I'm on a 6603(US) and I did my phone like 20 times yesterday to get xposed to work. Got root and recovery each time, the first time. This is how i did it from scratch...
1. Using Flashtool, flash .93 fw
2. Boot and enable debugging, mock, unknown sources, & airplane mode
3. Run giefroot (v2 worked best for me)
4. Run dual recovery installer (after root's reboot)
5. Flash prerooted LP from twrp recovery
6. Run byeselinux after first boot
Phone will reboot and your set. You can then flash this file, or u can flash it at step 5 (this I haven't tried).
I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone. Follow my steps at your own risk. Backup everything first to an external device/sd card
Does this have any Oi customization? I mean boot logo etc...

To be sure how this works:
This is for not deodexed LP stock roms.
When you flash this .zip it will automatically delete the unnecessery bloatware and zipaligne the rom?

[UNMAINTAINED][ROM ALL-IN-ONE] [LP_5.1.1] [D58XX] Heavily debloated - extras etc

[UNMAINTAINED]
This is for both locked/unlocked. Being 100% stock it is not going to unlock your BL, mess up your DRM/keys etc!
As some people asked me hereby I present you my new all-in-one solution for z3c d5803, this time based on LP 5.1.1, with following charateristics:
- Based on LP 5.1.1 23.4.A.1.264 FW (D5803, customized IT); 23.4.A.1.200 (D5833, customized HK) both with good spaced LTE icon
- pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.46 and Dual Recovery 2.8.21
- 100% stock (odexed)
- Heavily debloated with my own original big list
- xposed flashable v78 official by rovo for 5.1.1 + xposed APK alpha4
- Web View Google already updated to latest version as of 21/Jan in /data
- NFC icon restored
- Etar Calendar replacing Sony's
- Google Keyboard, Dialer and Contacts replacing Sony's (normal V8) or stock Sony versions (in V8_sony version)
- Nova Launcher replacing Sony's
- ES File Manager (pre-bloated version) replacing stock one
- QuickPic (neutered signed pre-bloated version) replacing Sony Album
- Z3+/Z4 bootanimation and live wallpaper
- Z5 conversations/messages/InCallUI/Phonebook (V8_sony version)
- Gravity Box, Unlink ringtones/notifications volume, AppsOpsXposed, MinMinGuard, Blurred System UI and Xperia Xposed xposed modules in /data
- Latest Sony Music in /data
- DPI changed to 280 for much better screen experience
- External SDCard writing fix
- Status Bar Icons Spacing Fix - example
- Camera/Album link FIX - to be able use camera without Album installed so you can open the images you take with your favourite image viewer!
- Lock screen fix in SystemUI (for hour in bold, and minutes in thin font) - example
NOTES
1. as in my first debloating solution for all xperia phones, all the bloat/replaced stuff is not really deleted but moved to a Backup folder in system (/system/__Backup) so you can restore anything you want very easily (sony keyboard, sony launcher, system apps etc)
2. that's the reason you can see /system partition still almost full in spite of my high debloat, but stuff moved to the backup folder is "silent", so for sure it is not affecting the system at all and it is like it is not installed: I use this approach for people who needs to restore something, this way restoring is very very easy and fast. By the way, deleting the whole Backup folder (or moving it to your sdcard) you will then see something like 1.1 gb extra free space in /system!! (see screenshots below )

PS IMPORTANT NOTE for unlocked BL users: to fix r/w on system you will have to flash a custom kernel like the one by Gustavo for example
*** NOTES ABOUT FULL WIPE vs DIRTY FLASH
You can also avoid wiping /data to keep all your data untouched but if YOU DO NOT WIPE DATA:
1. all apps I updated directly in /system may conflict someway with copies you may have stored in /data and you could get FC, especially Play Store/Services (btw in case any conflicts will appear it is pretty easy to fix them if you know how to clean things up yourself, for example clearing data of the conflicting apps installed in /data, and then uninstalling them via settings > downloaded apps)
2. my all-in-one solution won't be be 100% effective: the personal apps I included that are going to be installed in /data (xposed installer APK, Play Games, Sony Music, Gravity Box and Blurred UI xposed modules) WON'T be installed but just placed in /system/etc/product/applications with no effects (so in this case you can either keep them there, won't hurt, or delete them if you don't want them, while if you want them installed you can just click on them to start the installation as normal APKs)
3. all the apps installed by sony FW in /data (kobo books, navigator, social life, psp app, avg etc etc) won't be automatically removed (you will have to go to settings > downloaded apps to uninstall them manually)
4. not all the things needed for xposed to work contained in the FW will be installed automatically, so xposed will not work OOTB anymore (to get it to work, you will need to install manually at least xposed installer APK you can find in /system/etc/product/applications, and then all the modules you want to use)
I repeat the above will happen only if you DO NOT WIPE DATA, with clean flash instead everything will be as supposed: for sure no conflicts at all, all apps installed, xposed, modules, full debloat etc everything up and running and working OOB!
In case of UPDATING from one version to another: (as easy as... if not expressly mentioned to do otherwise...)
1. full backup
2. wipe system, cache and dalvik (do NOT wipe data, this way you will keep all your personal data)
3. flash new version via recovery
5. reboot/enjoy

- updated Google services to latest
- Google Calendar replaced sony's
- status bar icons spacing fix by great @istux
- Xperia Xposed v2.0 by great @serajr -> if you are NOT going to wipe data during the upgrade, this won't be installed automatically. you can install it manually going to /system/etc/product/applications and clicking on "Xperia_Xposed_2.0.apk"
- simplified all-in-one zip structure with less "extra" scripts (i did put three zips in one so at the end of the fw flashing you won't see too many additional zips flashing after each other)
Removed stuff:
With my solution you are going to get rid of more than 170 packages and all relevant libs/stuff plus all applications automatically installed by Sony, overlays etc...
As said at the beginning, stuff is not going to be really deleted, but moved in /system/__Backup folder. This way you can restore things very easily.
At the following link you will find the full list of all stuff I moved away:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1geFByRKDTOOZSIBOixO2boG1_78NUjqzkB6iozzJ4-k/edit#gid=0
PS. the file is with read-only access for everyone, if you have any changes to suggest please reply the thread or send me a PM
HOW TO RESTORE SOMETHING
PS. of course I also removed from my FW all the stuff that can be easily downloaded from the Play Store (Gmail, etc)
In the hidden field below you will find the restoring instructions you need to follow to restore any package you may want back:
According to what you want to restore, you have to follow two different procedures:
- all the APKs that are inside /system/__Backup/various/etc_custom_apps and /system/__Backup/various/etc_prod_apps are regular APKs that are going to be installed in /data, so you can just run them and then select "install" like a normal APK, easy. You will then see them in Settings > applications > downloaded
- instead, all the things in /system/__Backup/system_app and /system/__Backup/system_priv-app folders can't be normally installed, but must be restored in the correct /system folders with correct permissions. To do this, see the step-by-step instructions below (in the following example, I am going to restore Chrome app in /system/app and Velvet (Google Search) in /system/priv-app, but of course you can restore how many things as you want at the same time)
Code:
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_app and MOVE the whole "Chrome" folder to /system/app
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_priv-app and MOVE the whole "Velvet" folder to /system/priv-app
- reboot
- done
PS. don't copy but MOVE things back, or permissions will get messed up and you are likely to end up in a bootloop!
PPS. still, if you mess up something copying stuff to /system, and you get a bootloop, remember you can just enter in TWRP, mount system, and then with advanced > file manager you can delete what you have just copied to /system, this way your phone will boot up properly again

Getting VERY slow download speeds for the file. MEGA is usually quite good. Does bandwidth decrease if there are lots of users downloading the same file?

INTRODUCTION:
Hello!
I'm Robert, an satisfied and happy user of the Samsung Galaxy J5 ( J500FN), but somehow bored of it since it doesn't have any custom rom or kernel, in few words, xda support. At begin, i was planning to build Cyanogenmod or AOSP and an custom kernel with minimal features, but i lack the knowledge to do it, but it's not impossible, just that i have alot of headache and i'm not that happy with that. I was also planning to do an custom rom too, with many features and many themes available, this is easier, but again alot of headache. I can't promise i would do these, but i may try again to make a better custom rom.
So, here is Stock ROM Advanced. It's just an simple rom, nothing more yet. Check out the features section for more informations.Screenshots attached ( switch XDA theme to 2013 or 2015 theme from bottom of page and click on Screenshots tab if you can't see them.
Please share this XDA thread since Galaxy J5 doesn't have it's own xda forum...
FEATURES:
- Based on firmware J500FNXXU1AOI1_J500FNDBT1AOI2_J500FNXXU1AOI1
- Pre-Rooted with SuperSU (v2.66)
- Busybox installed (v1.24.1-osm0sis)
- Zipaligned all system apps (for better utilization of RAM) - What mean this? <--- click
- Deodexed - What mean this? <--- click
- Debloated - removed some samsung apps and some other unecessary apps for more RAM, more internal memory available and less wakelocks (so more battery). More info about removed apps in post #2.
- Knox removed
- Faster boot & shutdown
- Faster than stock? You tell me
Click to collapse
That's all the features it has now. Is just an custom rom based on stock rom, with some minimal changes, but improving the daily experience, at least for me. I can't promise, but maybe in future i will make it more than an simple rom, with more features. I repeat, can't promise it. I have decided to add more features in next version.
DOWNLOAD:
Stock_ROM_Advanced <<< click. Just mediafire link for now.
DO NOT MIRROR THE ROM. IF YOU WANT AN MIRROR, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL UPLOAD IT TO THE WEBSITE YOU WISH since i have good network! Thank you!
INSTALLATION:
(it's actually easy to install it, but i've wrote it this way because there may be new people to XDA which just wish the rom and doesn't want to bother by searching to how to do it)
1. Download the rom and put it on your External SD Card ( make sure you have enough space).
2. Download this TWRP recovery: TWRP recovery by @aapav01 - more info about this recovery at CREDITS
You can also use TWRP 3.0 by [MENTION]Nick Verse [/MENTION]which is fully working. Big thanks to him as well. If you didn't know yet, he also made a KERNEL for our J5
3. Download ODIN program. I'm using v3.09
4. Enable the OEM unlock bootloader option at developer options (if you can't see Developer Options, then go to Settings > About phone and tap 7 times build number).
5. Reboot your phone in download mode by keeping pressing Power button + home button + volume DOWN button at same time for few seconds. After an blue screen will appear, press volume up button.
6. Connect your phone with usb cable to your PC.
7. Open ODIN program and an number should appear at ID:COM. If it doesn't, then make sure that the phone usb drivers are installed.
8. Click on AP or PDA ( according to the version of odin which you downloaded) and choose the TWRP recovery you've downloaded and click START. Wait until the process finish.
9. Now go to TWRP recovery by keeping pressing Power button + home button + volume UP button at same time for few seconds.
10. Choose Wipe, then Advanced wipe and choose Dalvik Cache, System, Data and Cache and then Swipe to wipe.
11. Now choose Install and go to the place where you did put the ROM and choose it. Wait till installation finish and DON'T REBOOT YET.
12. Flash GAPPS. I use Open Gapps, ARM 5.1.1 pico version. http://opengapps.org/ . It's XDA thread is HERE .
13. Wipe dalvk cache & cache.
14. Reboot & WAIT 5-10 minutes until it boot!. Only first boot is longer. NOTE: When you reboot, if it ask you for SuperSU choose "do not install".
15. If you followed all the steps carefully, then everything will be OK. Enjoy
Click to collapse
Flashing GAPPS is required because if you don't you will be stuck at setup wizard. This issue is probably caused by one of the removed apps. However, it won't cause any other problem. So, flashing GAPPS is a must right after you flash the rom, but you can remove them if you wish after you finish Setup Wizard.
CREDITS:
@SuperR. for his nice and useful kitchen.
@aapav01 for the TWRP recovery. Big thanks to him because without the recovery, you couldn't even flash the rom!
@osm0sis for busybox
@Chainfire for SuperSU
@Force me, for doing this small rom
Pressing the THANKS button does give me some satisfaction/motivation

FAQ / TIPS
1. How do i install Xposed Framework?
Follow these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64490530&postcount=2
This is a list of confirmed working modules until now:
Code:

- APM+
- Gpm notification seek bar[L-M]
- ScreenOffAnimation
- Android Phone Vibrator
- Flat Style Bar Indicators
- Greenify
- NoSafeVolumeWarning
- Notification Manager
Thank you:
@22rp420 @nov01 for confirming some xposed modules!
If you know more xposed modules which are working on our phone, share with us!
2. My phone is running slow / has lag. Why?
My phone haven't lag or ran slow never and i'm using Power Saving mode all the time.
Use Greenify app to hibernate the apps which are running in background. Maybe you don't want Facebook or other apps running in background, eating RAM and battery while you use your phone or while your phone is in idle/standby. Then Greenify become useful. It does help gaining some more available RAM and also battery.
Also, don't use any Task killer because it is not necessary. It just does the opposite: make the phone run slow.
3. My battery drain too fast!
People use phone different. Everyone. My best SOT (screen on time) was 13 hours. Maybe you can or can't achieve that SOT. It all depends of how you use the phone.
The biggest battery drainer on Android are:
- Facebook app, facebook messenger
- Google Services
Greenify does help gaining battery too.
You should install BetterBatteryStats app to see what is draining your battery.
Personally, i'm using facebook in browser and i enable play services when i need them. I disable them with Tasker app by running some shell commands. Of course, you can do this with init.d too or some other apps. I will share the shell commands which i'm using later. I have maximum 10 minutes wakelocks in BetterBatteryStats widget and my battery doesn't drain even 1% per night.

I don't have any issue with the WiFi, but I think that the problem might be caused by WlanTest which I've removed it.
Later, I'll post here an flashable zip which does bring the WlanTest back and hopefully Wifi gets fixed.
Thank you both for reporting this!

@MAICK-LGG3 @galaxysi9000freak
I'm sorry for being late and also that i haven't made an flashable zip. I uploaded an zip file containing the WlanTest.apk.
1) Download WlanTest zip and extract the zip on your sdcard.
2) After you extracted the zip, you will have an folder named WlanTest and inside the folder WlanTest.apk. Use an file explorer with root and move the folder WlanTest to /system/app.
3) Set permission for the folder like this: http://i.imgur.com/gin3axj.png .
4) Set permission for WlanTest.apk from inside of folder like this: http://i.imgur.com/NXy772e.png .
5) Reboot
Let me know if this fix your wifi problems.
I was quite busy on working on the rom. Starting from next version, the rom will have a new name. It will also be themed, will have it's own logo and own bootanimation and more. Don't wanna spoil
I see that this thread has 600+ views already which is nice to see it

Awesome work on this! Great to have a variety
How do you think install would go using superSu 2.66 Beta? I'm running it as system app on v3 but didn't know if I should mess with install and add newer SU version after.

As long as it's a zip it won't matter
(omigodomigodomigod....clapping and sit-hopping) ...SO EXCITING! Thanks Stang. See you on the other side! (ya mean I gotta set up Wanam and lmt AGAIN?! <--first world problems)
Well first attempt yielded good boot up but no cell/mobile signal. It kept trying...no sig...a little sig....no sig. Could be blamed on trying su 2.66 I guess...
Thoughts?

I don't see superSU doing that but try it. You should be have signal for sure. I'm on it and two others
That's this rom
Of course I had to give this a try and I wasn't dissapointed as always. Everything worked like a charm first try. only question I have so far is, on top left corner of the lock screen it says sprint, anyway of changing that?

Anyine can learn it [emoji2]. So no worries at all
Second attempt same result. Have signal for short time during boot then drops after about 10 sec. Any help appreciated.
And this was clean install with su 2.49.
Oh and it says something about no sim card in top left.

So it's not detecting you sim for some reason . Have you taken out your sim and out it back in?
I didnt think of that. Sim has not been out of phone EVER since ive owned it. Think I should try again only remove and reinsert to see if it recognizes it?
Hi mr. Stang support international language or now...
OK so another fail but I learned more. The FIRST thing that happens upon boot is I get android.process.media has stopped. I hit OK on it maybe twice at most and it seems to go away. The next thing is, I have good mobile/cell signal UNTIL I agree to Samsung license agreement and when searches for signal...poof signal gone. Did factory wipe...have signal back until agreeing to Samsung thing again then gone again like a light switch. I even powered down, removed batt and pulled sym card for a few seconds. No avail. Any help appreciated.
So after first makin the mistake of flashing the mdk version instead of the non-mdk version, (yeah i know complete noob mistake what made it so bad was i did it twice). I ran into the same problems as tech49, as soon as i agree to the samsung license agreement i lose signal and it comes and goes so fast after that i dont know what to do. I also had the android.process.media issuse as well. I did play around with the rom and love the look and feel of it just gotta figure out the issues.
Same as Tech. No signal. No wifi. no data. Can I download flashfire and install it then restore from my backup?
Same with me, no data/ service. WiFi works for me. Clean install. When I goto settings network>status..occasionally sprint pops up then back to no service (I'm on Verizion). Hope this gets works out as I love the look of this versions!
I tried to restore a back up with FF but stuck at sammy custom screen. Guess it's time to break out the laptop, lol.
