[Q] Samsung Splash Screen - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

If the splash screen shows an open lock, does that mean the phone has an unlocked bootloader? I am trying to find a gs4 with unlocked bootloader to buy. But I want to run stock android (dont like tw). And for those asking why not just get a nexus, I also want removable battery and it seems only samsung still does this. Hell if only the moto g or x had removable batteries, I'd get one of those.

the open lock only means that the phone's software is not stock anymore. It doesn't necessary mean that you have an unlocked boot loader. I have a locked boot loader and my s4 has an open lock because I rooted the phone. If you really want an unlocked(or really its a workaround-able) bootloader, buy a MDK bootloader s4. There are apps on the play store to confirm the bootloader.

Motorola RAZR V Confidential

I'm not sure how to name the title but I had recently baught a Motorola RAZR V and at the bottom left of the digitizer/touch panel there is words printed that says, "Motorola Mobility Confidential" and at the bottom right is says " Restricted Property: Not for sale" and at the side of the phone it says "Motorola Confidential Restricted Property: Not for sale" I baught it broken on the lcd and digitizer but I'm buying a new lcd/digitizer this week. Can anyone tell me what this is and if you've even heard of it? Model is XT886
those are pre release editions of the device only available to staff or in house developers(in this case Motorola), i had one like that but it was an old razr(flip phone) , it may contain certain functions not available on the mass produced version and you may have the bootloader unlocked too.

Well from my understanding there isn't a custom ICS or Jellybean ROM for this phone, and for the software on this phone it should be in a development state, and may even be jellybean for all we know, I wouldn't know because as I said the lcd plus glass is cracked and I had just placed an order for new ones, it should be here in a week. How would I be able to extract the software in the phone?
it all depends, once you fix it try to run adb commands or something like that, pull up an image from the phone or see if you can do thing which you won't be able to do with the bootloader locked.

And if my bootloader is unlocked how would I be able to pass my boot loader to other people so that they can unlock their bootloader?

[Q] Motorola won't give me the UNLOCK KEY for MOTO E

I get message on Motorola site that says no to getting unlock key.
MOTO E, bought from Walmart
US Retail Phone;
Android version 4.4.4;
Baseband version MSM8610BP_1803.346.31.00R, TRAC_CDMA_CUST;
Kernel version 3.4.42-g6bc7ff3;
System version 21.12.40.confor_tacfone.trac_cdma.en.US tracfone;
Build number DXC21.5-40.
I have spent many days trying to get some java apps to run on my phone and discovered this whole world of phone development. I am in the computer industry myself and am a Linux Administrator besides having a number of Microsoft and Cisco certifications. I have followed many steps so far in this process but seem to be stuck at the point of getting the bootloader unlocked. I thought that I caught wind of maybe flashing the memory with a different image to get around this. Is this most likely the path I will have to take now. I did try to get the Moto key on two different computers.
What is the next step if Motorola doesn't give unlock key. THANKS
rhcrco
Tracfone is not under Moto's bootloader unlock program...... So I guess it's impossible to unlock your phone...... The only thing u can do is get a phone that's carrier independent (factory unlocked)

Why are many people talking about unlocking phones successfully if you are saying the only thing to do is buy one that is already unlocked?
IOW, is there a list of phones that will unlock?
If I was to try getting a carrier independent phone, where do you get one and does this automatically mean it will be unlocked?
THANKS MUCH,

your baseband and version is strange, buying in a wallmart implies an original certified by motorola phone, then unlock key is guaranteed, which your mobile operator? It is possible that the customization that made blocked the boot loader unlock, check this.

Actually, there's a tool called Sunrise that allows u to unlock such phones but it supports only up to KitKat 4.4.3 on all Moto devices..... If u want to get an unlocked phone, it's best to get it straight from Moto's online store
And I think some other carriers allow bl unlocking but I'm not sure which ones
answer your question, thanks

thanks for you response, I did try sunrise just to see and it failed on the phone. Also went to HDCdev site to see if that might work, still in that process but I think my phone is not an HC phone.

Change ATT Moto E2 (2015) phone into Motorola version

Hi all. I'm a complete newb and don't even know the correct terminology to use. If I should not be posting this here maybe someone could point to the right place for me to post. Here is my issue/question: I have a Moto E (the second generation model, aka Moto E 2015) and it is the LTE version - the XT1527. I bought it used and it had originally been an ATT phone. I went to the ATT website and got from them a code to unlock the phone so I could use it with my provider (Ultramobile, an MVNO that uses T-Mobile's infrastructure). It's a pretty basic phone and pretty slow. I have removed all the ATT-branded apps I can but there is still plenty left. What I am wondering is: Could I somehow load what I think is called firmware so that the phone was like the versions actually sold by Motorola? I figure the less branded crap on it, the more space I will have for my own apps and perhaps it may even be a little faster. I have read quite a lot of posts on this forum and it seems to be quite hard to do because ATT phones do not have unlockable bootloaders (and I don't even know really what that is yet). But when I go into developer options on the phone there is an option called "OEM unlocking" that has, as a subtitle, "Allow the bootloader to be unlocked". It is currently switched off, but it does allow me to turn it on if I want to. It gives me some sort of warning about "Device protection features will not work while this setting is turned on" but that doesn't sound too scary (although I am of course totally ignorant and could be totally wrong about that). But does this mean that on this phone if I unlock the bootloader, I could load the original Motorola firmware/ROM once I learn how to do it?
Thanks for any help.
Dan
P.s. this would sort of be a learning experience. I have another phone I would use while I try to play with the Moto E.
I actually didn't see the part where you said ATT can't have the boot loader unlocked my bad, you can still check using the Motorola site I guess but yeah you can't change the ROM unless you can unlock the bootloader
So the first thing you should do is unlock your boot loader
Note: this will wipe all the data on your phone so back it up before hand
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-moto-e-2015-t3045748
Then I would actually suggest that you change to Lineage OS instead. The Motorola stock ROMs are no longer being updated with security updates AFAIK and you are stuck on marshmallow (android 6). Lineage OS has all the security updates and is on nougat (android 7)
To do that first you would flash a custom recovery (TWRP)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo.../twrp-squid-twrp-recovery-moto-e-lte-t3137649
Then you can find our official Lineage OS here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...ment/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-moto-e-lte-t3516694
Thanks but you have not addressed the main point of my post, which was whether my phone's bootlocker is or is not unlocked. Also, I am not interested in anything other than stock ROMs and I prefer Marshmallow (or better yet Lollipop). Definitely don't want Nougat.
I have this phone to, I have a question, this device exists possibly to unlock bootloader and put any custom rom? I can't find tread with this info

Question About My Samsung Galaxy S9+

I purchased this phone today. It is network unlocked.. It was on T-Mobile, and now on Sprint.. What I find funny, when the phone was first turned on, up came the T-Mobile Splash screen. Then when I installed my sim card for Sprint, and had it activated, up came the Sprint Splash screen, and all of it's bloat glory.. I did get a great deal as it was new and perfect condition and it only cost me $288 with box accessories etc..
Under dev options, I do not see anything for OEM unlock so I can install either custom roms or debloat this phone of what I do not need.. Model number is SM-G965U. From what I gather that is not a valid Sprint Model number nor T-mobile.. I'm wondering if this was a factory unlocked version, first set to T-mobile, then Sprint when I activated it today.. Total call on this phone was Zero and very little data use..

They are multi carrier. Everytime a new sim is inserted it personalizes for a new carrier. All the us models are the same hardware. There is no OEM unlock. No custom roms locked bootloader permanently. you can root 8.0 only no 9 no 10. Look up extreme syndicate down in the snap dragon section. Please note your model is a g950u or g965u. Not to be confused with the g9600 or g9650 which are snapdragon but of other countries with unlocked bootloader. Cannot be interchanged.

So I assume, that since it is network unlocked, and all the bloat is based off of each carrier.. Will a factory reset get rid of it all. Or do I have to go the adb route? I have no issue with it, but can not stand all the bloat I have always tried to stay away from.. And if you look at it.. It basically is no different than a carrier branded phone.. Once you pay off it, you and have the UICC unlocked, like this phone already is. Put if I had bought a international version, I'm sure it would never have worked here in the US...

You can either root 8.0 to debloat or adb to disable it. Factory reset wont get rid of none of it. The International version o believe supports every carrier except sprint dont have the proper bands. I'm pretty sure it can do verizon. You also have the option of flashing the us U1 firmware which is us unlocked version with no carrier bloat but it still has locked bootloader.
How come when using adb, and I type adb devices it come back with a series of numbers, and then says unauthorized.. I have used in the past and was very simple.. USB debugging it enabled.
Forget it. I figured it out. And debloated this thing just like I want.

Even thought he bootloader is locked, at least the bloat is gone semi.. If I need it back ( will not) I can just do a factory reset. LOL Time to install youtube vanced.
Question cpu z says I have a Snapdragon845. To bad it would have been nice to tweak it, if the bootloader was unlockable.

Yea I got the g9650 unlocked bootloader snapdragon and it's right. Stout. and great battery life even though it's a older device

Question Any way around "Locked device"

This phone was given to me by a friend, he says he got drunk, changed his lock code and doesn't remember. After a factory reset it just stays on a screen asking for a Tracfone SIM and he kept his SIM & moved halfway across the country.
I just wanna know if there is any means around this?
I called Tracfone, gave them the IMEI & they told me the phone will be eligible for unlock in about a month, I don't wanna wait as I can't root my S22 Ultra and I just wanna get back in the rooting scene, LOL
I know, call me impatient....
I apologize, I didn't notice a post w/ same issue but on a Cricket phone whereas mine is Tracfone but same situation.

What's the Model and build number? Is the bootloader locked or unlocked? Without knowing much detail I'd recommend finding the firmware that matches your phone and fastboot flash that or at least TWRP recovery if you can find one that works with yours and then you'd have more flexibility. This is all if your bootloader has been unlocked already though and if it hasn't I'd start looking through some threads on how to do that if you don't already know how to. If it's possible with your variant too I know carrier devices are pretty strict on unlocking the bootloader but Idk about tracphone variants.
It's not unlocked.
It's the Tracfone Moto G Power
Look up a thread here on xda about unlocking the bootloader for Motorola devices and come back here if you can unlock it. You'll have to do that before you can even flash anything such as partitions like a custom recovery.
