[Q] US CELLULAR- us990 - Sprint LG G3

I havent been on xda in a while but i have done my searches before i ask this question. Can i flash sprints ls990 recoveries, roms and mods to a us990 us cellular device?

Ah i dont think so just because of modems, radios, software ect.. I could be wrong but im pretty sure not.

You could try to look on android fourms or I guess just root it and stick to what you got

recoveries no, roms maybe, mods probably.

I am willing buy a US990 and flash the sprint GSM rom. I should only need to modify the boot.img right?

No, you would have to modify a lot more. Although the boot.img is a good start you are also going to have to modify the kernel and and maybe wrong but some lib files. I have no idea how close the ls990 is to the us990 hardware and software wise. Here is a whole site dedicated to develoment for your device, now I have no idea if these roms are any good but here is the link: http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/429-lg-g3-development/

In my attempt to unlock US990 for GSM I did folowing so far:
1. I flashed Cloudy 1.3 while selecting the model as LS990.
a. Phone got stuck in boot loop.
b. Lost access to TWRP.
c. Download mode was still accessible, device info showed as LS990 but SWV was still US990.
d. When tried restoring to stock LS990 ZV4, flash tool failed and gave error that device model is different.
2. Restored a LS990 Nandroid Backup.
Results were same as flashing Cloudy 1.3
3. Installed the newly available CM12.1 Unofficial(Thanks a ton to @Seoyne) :
a. Modified telephony on the build.
b. No GSM access yet.

you can flash kernels. but you have to decompile them and use a new dt img. the one specifically compiled for the us990. i found that out when trying to use a dt img from a ls990 kernel.

Look at the int forum they have a couple of ROMs for your phone

This link is not working. Can you tell what exactly you were trying to say. TIA

If you have the right dll and the KitKat Sprint tot, you can flash stock Sprint on the us990 you just won't have service on stock roms...you would more than likely have to use cm or aosp based roms
Google how tobflash as990 to ls990...that what I did and I even have an ntelos sim card in this phone and all works but lte

[Canadian/Claro PR D801/803] Development

First off, I'm not by any remote chance a developer or anything of the sort, I'm just your typical flashaholic enthusiast who thought he bought the wrong model phone, as development for the Canadian D801/D803 is seriously lacking. All I'm trying to do in this thread is trying to bring every bit and pieces of its development into a single thread. I'll try and give credit where credit is due, so please, if you believe you are the one to credit for something I post, let me know so I can give you the corresponding credit.
I cannot stress enough, please do a Nandroid backup before you attempt ANYTHING! I will not be held responsible for anything you do to destroy your phone! You have been warned!
Phone models compatible with this thread:
*Claro PR D801
*Wind Mobile D801
*Videotron D801
*Rogers D803
*Bell D803
*Telus D803
T-Mobile D801 is NOT compatible
Install TWRP Recovery on LG G2 Running Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM (All Models))
If you lose knock on/off feature, just dial 3845#*80x# (change x for phone version)
Then go to setting and update touchscreen firmware. Thanks to @Rotopeon for the heads up!
Now to the good stuff!
I'll first post the kernels that are compatible with this phone; to me, this piece of the puzzle alone is the most important to me, as this allows you to basically flash any rom you like to this phone.
Unofficial Cyanogenmod 12.1 for the LG G2 D803
Say thanks to @zr239 in his thread for this!
Kernels
1- Wootever kernel
Just click the one that reads (d803-custom-05) [Canada]. This kernel has the generic connectivity icons (no LTE icon etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same.
2-Furnace kernel
Download the one that says D803 (for BOTH, do NOT download the one that says D801!) This kernel has the stock (your company issued) connectivity icons (4G LTE icons etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same.
3- Dorimanx kernel
Download the one that says D803, flash in recovery
4- Stock Claro PR (D801) kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D801 phones and D803. This kernel has the generic connectivity icons (no LTE icon etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same. Thanks @prking07 for the repack!
5- Stock D803 kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D803 phones and D801. This kernel has the stock (your company issued) connectivity icons (4G LTE icons etc). Merely cosmetic, LTE speeds remains the same. Thanks @prking07 for the repack!
6- Houstonn's D803 AOSP Kernel 01-20-2014
7- Simple Kernel (Kit Kat compatible kernel)
Root
1- Kingo ROOT
This is how I personally have rooted various LG G2 phones; to me, it's the single, most easiest way to root almost ANY JB device. Try and see if this works for you.
2- Alternate root method
Try this if Kingo fails for you
Modems
By cross compatibility, it's implied that you will not cripple your phone if you flash any of these modems to a compatible phone: signal quality and end user experience may vary, so test whichever is better for you. If LTE goes missing on your phone, dial *#*#4636#*#*, and in phone info, and select the LTE option. There's also apps in the Play Store that can do this for you.. Although these have been tested already, you never know when the planets will align and make thing go awry, so always make a nandroid, and please BACKUP YOUR EFS IF YOU'RE GOING TO MESS WITH MODEMS!
1- Stock D801 Claro PR modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
2- Rogers stock D803 modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
3- Stock Bell D803 Modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery.
4- T-Mobile stock modem
Flash this radio to you D801/D803, if, after flashing a T Mobile based rom, you get lousy signal. Will not brick/erase/destroy your phone. Flash via recovery.
5- KK Baseband If you're planning on upgrading to Kit Kat from 4.2.2 JB or AOSP, FLASH this file (baseband) before flashing the kit kat rom of your choice
Roms
Just download your favorite rom file, flash it via recovery, and IMMEDIATELY afterwards, flash one of the provided kernels in this thread! If you don't do this, you'll end up in fastboot!
1- Stock Bell Rom (rooted)
2- AOSP Roms: sweet compilation by @Dene_Bluesman!
3- Stock Claro PR Kit Kat KDZ file (Flash stock Claro ROM 4.2.2 JB, then flash this; if you do not, you'll be stuck on 49%)
4- Flashable Bell stock Kitkat D803B20e
5- Flashable Rogers stock Kit Kat D803R20D
6- Liquid Smooth AOSP
Recovery
1- TWRP 2.6.3.2
Bell Mobile
Roger Mobile (Also compatible with Claro PR)
2- TWRP 2.6.3.4
Download the file named (d803-twrp-recovery) [Canada], and flash it via custom recovery
3- Philz Recovery
To flash:
Download the above file and place it in /sdcard on your device. Using adb shell or terminal emulator:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Make certain that you get this command right. Typing the wrong number could result in a brick!
Or if you comfortable with it, just Flashify the file
Here's a D803 Build prop just in case you need it
D803 Stock Build Prop
I'll add more stuff as needed, let me know if you need anything else and I'll post it here!

I can see that lol. I wouldn't mess around with radios too much, it's super easy to cripple your phone if you do. Now kernels, you can mess with them all you want. Bad comes to worse, you'll end up in fastboot, but just flash a working kernel and you're game.

Hey nice thread, very helpful and with everything they basically need to know for a head start. Just a few recommendations though.
I like to install the custom recovery first cuz that way I can make a nandroid of my phone's stock unrooted ROM. I'm not sure if that will clear the root check when restored but anyways is good to have a stock unrooted backup. That's a life saver for when you decide to root you phone and start playing with new ROMs and kernels. Then when you finally find a good ROM that you love and is stable you can delete it to free some space.
Also if you can edit the title to something like "[Canadian & Claro PR d803] Development" so that people looking for a thread with Claro info can know it's here. Our phones are actually 803s so maybe having 801/803 can confuse people; IDK. The stock ROM says 801 but I really have no idea why. Maybe they made their ROM kanging the T-Mo 801
Anyways anything I can help with I'm always here. Anyone can PM me when needed
So just to be clear, I can flash ANY Rom as long as I flash my stock kernel in recovery right after?

Doesnt break lte per se, if you dial *#*#4636#*#* phone info, and select lte it will work.
At least, me personally have tried every single d801/d803 modem on my phone, all work the same. Even the tmo one.

Your stock kernel or a kernel designed for your phone (custom or not). So far all roms work using this method; if you find a Rom that does not work, please let us know, as this would pretty much be the first one. Always have a nandroid ready just in case.

Hi all,
First, i would like to thanks omegajester for this great post
Next, my device is a LG G2 D801V11B LG-801 variant on Videotron canada.
I am confused as to which kernel, modem, recovery, roms i should put on my device, as all I really see is information for d803 or (one that i didn't know about) Claro Puerto Rico:
from the kernel section
1- Wootever kernel
Just click the one that reads (d803-custom-05) [Canada] ...
2-Furnace kernel
Download the one that says D803 ...
3- Stock Claro PR (D801) kernel
File was repacked correctly to not break Wifi, cross compatible with other D801 phones and D803 ...
4- Stock D803 kernel
Same confusion goes for the modem section :
1- Stock D801 Claro PR modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
2- Rogers stock D803 modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
3- Stock Bell D803 Modem
Retains cross compatibility. Flash via recovery. ...
4- T-Mobile stock modem
Flash this radio to you D801/D803 ...
I know this is very crucial. I know mine is label under the basband version : M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190036
I got my phone rooted using the Chinese root method which worked well. I think I have tried installing all the TWRP version I could find and the only i got working is the 2.6.3.2 which if I am not mistaken prevent you from installing 4.4 rom (SELinux protection... ) By talking with Dees_troy he was able to provide me with a 2.6.3.3 test version of TWRP which is great but still can't install 4.4 roms.
My question is as follow:
At the end of the day, will I be able to install 4.4 rom on a twrp 4.4 on my canadian videotron version of the G2?
Thanks in advance
and sorry if I missed something or did not correctly understood something in the OP I have read it multiple time but still unsure as to what install/flash

Your D801 is basically a D803 in disguise. This being said, you should be able to flash any D803 branded piece to your phone. Example, my Claro PR D801 worked wonderfully with Roger's D803 TWRP version; also, kernels branded with D803 should work with your phone too (as they do with mine). Modems, unless you're experiencing crappy signal, should be left alone, unless you feel like testing different modems; usually LTE goes away, but can be reactivated with the methods posted in the OP. You should be able to flash the 2.6.3.4 TWRP on your phone without too much problem, and be able to, in fact, flash a 4.4.2 rom (as I have before- I end up always going back to a stock LG based rom though). Try it out and let us know how it goes!
PS: If you wish, you can leave us your stock modem and kernel files and we'll uploaded it here for the benefit of everyone, and gladly give you the credit for it :good:

Can I flash a Tmobile ROM on verizon

Can i flash any tmobile ROM? like this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682608
I recently flashed a MIUI ROM from our verizon thread and noticed it worked decently with either a tmobile sim or our own Verizon LTE.
I also recently flashed this T-mobile ROM :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292054
which was posted on the T-mobile thread but had our verizon kernal in the list of downloads, with success.
So my question is this: can i flash any Tmobile ROM as long as it doesn't include a kernal and radio and of course access the network settings to change it to LTE/CDMA.???

Probably not. Most ROMs are tightly integrated with their kernel; if you flash just the ROM and not the kernel, lots of things will likely not work well.
I think you should make a little list of the ones you have success with though... [emoji1]

Thanks! This proves we can use i9505 (generic S4) roms, but doesn't guarantee we can use Tmobile. But that may not matter. This means we can use the repository of I9505 ROMS which opens the door to a boatload of ROMS!!! WHOOOHOOO.

Yeah, if you're one of the lucky few with the MDK bootloader or a developer edition phone.
But you still probably need to flash the entire ROM, including the kernel that supports it, assuming you're one of the lucky ones.

I'm assuming most of us have the MDK bootloader. I'm running TW 4.4.2 now (goldeneye ROM). Works flawless. All the mods for i9505 work great too. We have some awesome themes out there in the i9505 themes thread. Verizon S4 keeps getting better and better.

Current Verizon LG G3 (its 99 cents on sale, I have some questions)

Its time for an upgrade and I am eyeing the G3. Its currently $.99 on upgrade, and the price is playing a big part in my decision as money is tight right now and my older S3 is falling apart.
The thing that draws me to this phone is its unlocked bootloader. I have tried to research on my own, and what I have found is that you can get a custom recovery and ROM on a G3 from most stock OOB configs.
However, I cant find any super recent talk of it. That doesnt mean there isnt, it just means I havent found it on this forum or elsewhere and my Search-Fu is probably weak.. I believe I read that the G3 was recently updated OTA to lolipop, and my question is does the CURRENT, brand new G3 from verizon still have the capability to install custom roms? I am no smartphone expert, ive rooted and custom rom'd an old tablet and I am confident in my technical skills, and I just want to make sure that the phone (which i probably will go pick up from the VZW store tomorrow) is still viable because if its not, ill probably get a different phone. I will go deeper into research mode once I know for sure, I am worried though that the bootloader has been locked as this happened to the S3 later in its life after the Kitkat upgrade.
TLDR is a new G3 from verizon still ROM'able and such?
Thank you for your help, this is a pretty awesome site/forum and I hate to bother you all with noobish questions!

The thing that draws me to this phone is its unlocked bootloader. I have tried to research on my own, and what I have found is that you can get a custom recovery and ROM on a G3 from most stock OOB configs.

I have a Verizon g3 but mine didn't come with the boot loader unlocked! And also it's a great phone, the only downside is the battery life with the new lollipop update but if you root it, you can fix that problem

O really? So you are unable to install a recovery and ROMS?

That's correct. I rooted my phone but I was unsuccesful on unlocking the boot loader and now I updated my phone so I lost root. Although I heard about an app called autorec in the play store that will install the custom recovery for you. There is a Verizon g3 variant too

Plan on kdz'ing or tot'ing back to the stock firmware (10B), and then root, unlock, and install TWRP (custom recovery), and you'll be good to go to install custom roms! All OOB firmwares from Verizon can be kdz'ed or tot'ed back to the stock firmware, so yes that's a HUGE plus.

So just to clarify you are saying is that all G3's regardless of stock firmware, even the latest VZW version G3, can be rooted, unlocked and custom rom installed, it just make take a little extra work on some of them?

My root script will root 24B. Autorec works with 23C and only 23C. So 24B = Root only but 23C = Root + TWRP. Check out my toolkit which will do all of this for you. bit.ly/VZWG3Toolkit

That's correct. And whether or not you want a custom ROM, I would still root AND unlock, that way you can install TWRP, take nandroid backups, etc. and thereby make it easier on yourself if you ever jacked up the phone doing something with root. I figure if you're gonna go to the trouble of rooting, might as well unlock too. Just my 2 cents

Technically, it's not unlocked. There is an exploit that allows you to flash custom ROMs and kernels as if the bootloader was unlocked. On the surface, yes. You could say it's unlocked, but it it were truly unlocked, you could flash TWRP without having to be rooted. But you can't replace the recovery correctly without being rooted first. Hence, it's an exploit that skirts around the locked bootloader. It's still locked, but an exploit allows you to flash TWRP after you are rooted.
Here's what I know:
The first thing you must do is root the phone. You can root 24B as stated earlier by an earlier post.
Once rooted, you can flash TWRP but only if you are not on 24B. If you are on the latest OTA (24b), you can still flash TWRP, but it requires some extra steps. However, there is an app for this that you can install and run and it will prep your phone for TWRP and then install TWRP. It's basically a one-click TWRP install. You can get it in the Google Play store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecvs985. Saves a lot of headaches.
So, I can one-click root my phone. Then install the LG G3 AutoRec-LP app to flash TWRP for me and I'm done!
You're bootloader is not unlocked, but TWRP is a "bumped" version. Bumping is the term they use for taking advantage of the exploit. But, you can't just flash any ROM out there for the G3. ROMs are specific to the model of the phone you have. For instance, you cannot take a D855 version (UK version of G3 I believe) of a ROM and flash it on your VS985 version. You'll brick it. ROMs have to also be "bumped" in order to work and be flashed, hence that is why the ROMs are specific to each model of the G3.
So if the AT&T version of the g3 has a ROM but the Verizon doesn't have that particular ROM, it's because the dev hasn't bumped their ROM for VS985. So, you can only flash those ROMs that are bumped for VS985.
But, the bumped version of TWRP and the ROMs act the same as if you had an unlocked bootloader, but it's an exploit that could be patched in the future. For whatever reason, LG and Verzion have not done that. Not sure why. But, caution on blindly taking any future OTAs. I would wait until you hear whether you can either revert back to a previous version to exploit and still root and bump on that previous version or not. Otherwise, you will be SOL.
As for unlocking the bootloader, that has only been allowed for overseas variants of the G3, but there is one issue that many might now like. When you truly unlock the bootloader with LG's unlocking tool, DRM is removed (which many would love), but then that means, some movie streaming services you use might not work any more because of the DRM removal. So, my feeling right now is, bumping is the best way to go.
Here's LG's description of what happens when you unlock it officially using their tool (mind you, as I stated, this is only for overseas variants of the G3):

Is Moto E LTE 2015 Retail US Firmware Safe To Flash? Really Need an Answer!

As mentioned in the title, i am wondering if this firmware is safe to flash. The model and carrier I have is sprint xt1526. Yes, the bootloader is unlocked. The reason for my concern is because i don't want to end up with a brick. Also, if it did successfully flash, would i still be able to use sprint? Or would it be limited to specific us carrier or carriers? I really want to know, so any answer related to the original question is appreciated!

I can't give you a 100% sure answer on that but I am on VM phone and I was going to try to flash the ret us ROM but got cold feet at the last second and flashed superR's Boost 5.1 ROM and it correctly labeled me VM right of the bat with my LTE texts calls etc and downloaded my vm apps automatically. What version are you using right now? Look in settings>about phone>sim info

Build number is LPI23.29-18-S.11

Flash the Boost ROM. We sprint + vm piggy back from boost. I highly recommend starting with the 5.0.2 Boost ROM and then update to 5.1 like that. Just follow the directions in his thread. The stock or debloated both work for us

No problem. The retail US version probably is flashable, I just don't know what the end result would be

If anybody wants to volunteer to flash the moto e 2015 LTE retail version, please let me know the results. I would try it, but my computer is currently not being very cooperative.
The most recent update breaks the Wifi and cellular on my Virgin Mobile Moto E (XT1526). I tried it through three methods. 1) flashing SuperR's ROM 2) unrooting, pushing the S.11 firmware, as a fresh install, and 3) unrooting, going back to S.2, and then allowing the OTA updates to work their way up to S.11. Once I get S.11, I appear to lose my ICCID, so cell signal shows an exclamation point, and while the phone sees Wifi (it connects to my router), it also has an exclamation point and no IP address or any other info.

OK this is very very simple. No need to unlock sim. Download a rom from whatever service provider ie... att tmobile. The only thing you need is for it to have an aroma installer format your memory put your new Sim card in flash then go and download new recovery for the phone ie.. 900t as your recovery is 900p after then find a stock rom flash new recovery then your new stock rom and poof profit 4g. New phone. Fckn magic and I am a novice who messed with everything everyone else said with no luck best was hspa. But it would always jump towers roam no signal blah blah. Now I feel like I have a new tmobile phone 28mbs download .is the lowest I have pulled.

OK so first off...Wow try to help ppl out. You guys r a bunch off asshats, I believe I explained in the first post how to do it. And the last guy that made a post did I say Europe international unluck. My obvious answer would be just follow the one of the other post because unless your staying their I don't even know what carriers they have. But to domestically turn your sprint phone into lets say att or tmobile ir verizon. All notes have same hardware inside the only different is the locked bands you can't use. So I am going to try and make this simple as I can.
1... ROOT
2.... INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY
3.... DOWNLOAD A ROM WITH AN AROMA INSTALL AS THIS WILL LET IT BYPASS THE CHECK FOR THE CORRECT PHONE BECAUSE AS OF THIS POINT YOUR CUSTOM RECOVERY IS SUPPOSE TO ONLY FLASH 900P ROMS.. THE AROMA BYPASSES THIS.
4........INSTALL THE ATT...TMOBILE... ROM IT PROBABLY WON'T BE STOCK BUT ONE
5...... REBOOT.
6.....Now YOUR PHONE Is T-mobile or att.
Nit finished though
7..... Download a CUSTOM recovery for the company you switched. to I.e....twrp 2.8.7. 900t
8..... Now you can stop or what I did just to make sure things went smooth when completing the switch I installed a stock rom called the company bam
NO SIM CARD ERRORS AND FULL 4G
AS YOU ARE USING THEIR SETUP UNBLOCKED THEIR BANDS THE ONLY WAY TO TELL THIS WAS NOT THAT COMPANY PHONE IS THE IMEI STARTING wITH 99 and the frame under the battery Haz it mark.
FLASH WHATEVER ROM YOU LIKE AFTER THAT .
PLEASE STOP ACTING AS THOUGH I DID SOMETHING WRONG TRY, RECORD IT I JOHN BEIL WILL BUY YOU A NEW PHONE IF IT DOESN'T WORK. BUT WHEN YOU FIND THAT I FOUND THE EASY WORKAROUND SECRET DONATE THANK AND SHARE TOY STORY PLEASE & THANK YOU

Ok, re read again your instructions.
Flashed the stockish lollipop T-Mobile rom.
I am all ready Sim unlocked, so can't address the sim unlock.
It seems the T-Mobile rom shows the 4G icon when connected as UMTS.
Speed test shows the same 2.5 megs. I get all ready, on any other Rom.
My Verizon phone with the same Sim gets 4 times the speed on LTE.
Thanks for working on this!

Yeah so I've been flashing ROMS for quite some time. In fact I use multiboot on my Nexus 6 but anyway. I have 2 Note 3s and just bricked one of them when I flashed the wrong recovery in Flashify. I am going to try and restore it with ODIN and I hope it works. I flashed Darklord's Note 5 port which was absolutely stunning till I killed the phone with the wrong TWRP recovery. The phone had the SIM not valid in another language so I'm guessing flashing the right recovery would have made it work for T-mobile. Anyway, this will be my first brick after all of these years. My other Note is booting now and I hope the T-mobile and Straight Talk sims work. If per chance it does, I can then flash the Darklords ROM and still have service? I ask because you said you can go ahead and flash any ROM you like. Edit: I am having a hard time getting this to work. Is there any way you could just tell me what particular ROM you used because now I tried the Kitkat ROM and it will not boot. Please help. Thanks!
Ok follow the directions next time I don't know if you can Odin because of adb, but Samsung has an app, don't use flashify for this use twrp don't download a T-Mobile recovery till after u flash the aroma ROM then flash T-Mobile recovery then any T-Mobile rom

I completely understand that but can you please link me to the ROM you used or any Lollipop ROM that works? I ask because I cannot find ONE with Aroma installer for T-mobile that is 5.0. The kit kat ROM I just installed is stuck on the Samsung boot animation and won't boot.
