Insufficient internal memory - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Phone tells me insufficient internal memory from one day to the other even though I haven't installed or downloaded anything new.

Here is a picture

You'll want to move some apps (maybe just a few of the biggest ones) to your SD card since you only have 368 MB left for apps on the device. Total space for apps on the device is limited to about 6 GB of the 16 GB total.

Have you changed to use SD as internal memory?

You mean as my default storage location? Yes I have.

The internal memory you're speaking of is the internal storage, of which we have about 14gigs to play with in total. This memory is formatted with the FAT32 filesystem, a filesystem which is often prone to allocation table corruption. This can lead to a filesystem reporting it's free space incorrectly.
The solution would be to backup any data on the internal storage to a known safe source (say to your PC temporarily) and then format the internal storage, which can easily be done from the phone's settings menu. Afterwards, copy all of the saved data back.
If the problem persists after this, then you will have to go on an errant file hunt, because files can also become corrupted individually and misreport their size. Such a file if found should be deleted.
Hope that was clear. Best of luck!
Just a thought....how many nandroid back ups have you saved and still have on your internal sd?

Are sure it's not the phone memory where the apps are stored. Because some people who use a lag fix like oclf don't realize it could take up to half of phone internal storage.
Friends don't let friends flash drunk
Thx For the input...I just did a factory reset through the dialer. Quick and painless.
Construction thumbs and swype don't mix!
only 2 gigs of space is dedicated to apps. remember our phones have a 16 gig internal sd card. and 2 gigs of rom if im not mistaken. since its an internal sd card that means apps are installed to the phones memory, not the internal sd card.

How much Internal memory have you got?

I have received a "internal memory full"msg yesterday, with around 40 apps installed.
After moving most apps to SD card, ive still only got 100mb left.
When i check the internal memory status from Appsmonster, ive seen the internal memory size is only 500mb instead of 1gb! How much internal memory hv u got?

I believe the specs says 512mb of ram, and 1gb of ROM. What is the difference I don't know, but I"m sure it runs out of "ram". I don't know if we have access to the "rom". Hope it helps!

um.. I'm talking about Rom, not RAM. Internal memory is Rom. It should have 1GB ROM, but only showing 550mb...
Anyway, I've solved the problem, the logservice of Dell Venue keeps creating log files up to 2mb each each time I force close the apps, and therefore has eaten up all ROM! I've got to root it to clear these useless log files.
Oh, sorry, didn't know the phone had EXTERNAL ram...my bad. You see, my Venue has 512MB INTERNAL RAM and 1GB INTERNAL ROM. Where did you get your Venue from...???
I didn't mean to offend you and thanks for your reply. Anyway i've checked my friend's Venue and it's also showing 550mb, very strange indeed.

Hi, can you tell me where log files are kept? Since I found out this issue, when Force Close happens, I choose Log to SD Card then I can delete manually. But for ones logged on ROM I don't know where.

Will we get App2SD support on JB?

mistake? no friend, that was no mistake they planned that. ics was a major change in android and the apps to sd card thing is history now (at least in stock roms)
and the reason is that external memory can never be as fast as internal memory in running and executing apps. imo

mistake about app2sd? any rooted and open source rom and kernel, can enable this feature. where does jb comes in picture? people have been using it since froyo custom roms.

internal memory is fast i agree, but it is still not faster than class 10 memory cards.
when i transfer data to internal memory it never went above 8 mbps....but with my class 10 memory card i can transfer with 16 mbps speed....so flash memory isnt always the fastest one

It is not history it's optional. It's a feature still embedded in ICS and Jelly Bean but it just needs to be turned on. They made it optional due to the devices like the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 which had no external memory. So having the feature would be pointless. It can be turned on though. I have a couple devices that has it work through your normal system settings.

The main issue with that is majority of consumers that are using these devices have no clue what a class is in relation to SD cards. Hell half of them think SD cards are SIM cards and vice versa and their pictures are on the SIM xD

I know the modern consumer is anything but "brilliant", but pictures on a SIM card? Lol. That may be a touch harsh, though it did get me to laugh.
On a side note, my current devices happen to be the exact same as yours. Fancy that.
Just rooted p769, installed app2sd and want to move apps. When run app2sd get this message:
"the device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving app to SD function may not be supported by this device."
any alternatives or any way to remap without app2sd or link2sd? I have not tried link2sd yet but it'll probably be similar. Would like to remap or move apps until JB/CM is available which will likely have it integrated.

Now i have a total of 180 apps, most of them are system, pre-installed, removed most bloatware. Don't want to waste internal storage memory completely, would like to keep some apps in phone and have a few hundred megs free internal, the rest moved to externa sd. Hope it's possible.
On the JB there are app2sd but all data of applications is still saving in phone memory.

He's saying that the larger apps such as for example real racing still save the data files to the sdcard. Now the difference is that you can move the actual app to the sdcard.

[Q] Low Free Space in Internal Memory

Hi
I have a problem with my Android phone. I already select an option to install apps into SD card but each installed apps still consume some free space in internal memory. Example: an app size 20 would take 2-5mb in internal memory. Unfortunately, my internal memory is only 222mb.

I knew that. I tried to move or install apps in SD card but a few megabyte still increase in Internal Memory for each apps installed. So it will be full since internal memory is too low.

You need root so you can delete apps that you can't if you're not rooted. Look at the photos, I can delete google maps, but only if you are rooted. And my biggest app is only 10mb because I can move any app I want to my sd, not only some. So you need to be rooted so you can free up some space on your phone.

Yes, it's rooted. But even so, each time I install an app into sd card. internal memory still cost some space. many 1 mb will make it full. If you try for yourself to install an app in sd card and check free space before and after installing. You'll will see some space will be taken. Do you see that way?

Then get "superuser" and then get link2sd and delete apps that you don't use or apps that came with your phone that you can't remove. My phone has 220mb internal and I have plenty apps and I have like 20mb left. That's still a little bit but that's why we both need to upgrade our phones, but this way helps, but doesn't eliminate the low storage stuff.

We have too? No. At first, I can just install app to SD card. I don't have to create 2nd partition. But I did create it with my PC and insert it back to my phone. But I can't see anything different. It just waste space for 2nd partition. So nothing useful for 2nd partition in you opinion, right? I should delete it to bring space back.
U all should make 2nd partition, because some of the app wont work in sd card, plus all the data will link to the 2nd partition, it save a lot of space, but make sure u are rooted

Is this true - internal storage only 2 gb???

I saw this on another forum. Is this true? It would make it unusable to me, and I just ordered one before seeing this. Do we not have at least 12 GB free for apps?
"..an issue I do not know how to resolve. It comes w 4.3 pre installed but the internal storage is not unified (due to USB storage enabled) so just under 2GB is allocated as app storage. This being the setup on older android version we had the option to move individual apps to the secondary partition b within the app option but this being 4.3 this option does not exist so this really puts a damperbn usability of this device."

If you add what it says is available to the what it says I'm using, it totals 6.81 GB. I doubt that includes system apps, as I said I have a lot installed. I had to keep them all on the phone because the ones I moved to the SD card the widgets didn't load on restart and I wasn't getting notifications.
Hope this helps you.

But 6.81 is pretty bad - some 16gb phones have around 12 gb for apps. What in the world is taking up so much memory? I need to install copilot maps which are over 4 gb plus all the other software I use. Don't know if this is going to work for me. Heck - I have almost 5.52 gb free for apps on a 8gb moto-g phone

Well, screen shots of my internal file system storage. My phone is rooted so I could free up more space deleting some system apps I don't use like Facebook but people had to reinstall the system apps they deleted to get the last update to install, and I don't feel like messing with that. I just disabled them. Can you install your co-pilot apps on the SD card?
Sent from my MT2L03
No, I don't think the maps can be loaded on sd card.
Darn - I purchased without checking this out - figured if my 8 gb phone had 5.52 gb free a 16 gb phone would have around 12. My fault for not doing proper research. Everyone was saying how much they like the phone. and I let that sway me. Guess I will send it back as 6.81 gb free in 2014 is almost $99 phone territory.
Looks like copilot is downloading fine. I'll let you know if I have issues after it completes.
It gives you the option to use extsd as default storage.
You are showing 12.69 GB available internal storage for apps. Is this correct? Or is it the 10.50 that is available to apps?
Yes 12.69 available. But when I go into settings > manage apps it states 5.8gb for apps. I believe it uses internal/external for app data, so I believe you'll be OK
check in the copilot options. maybe it has the ability to choose where to save the map data
NOKIA HERE does ... and its awesome btw
