Qi charging at 100% battery - Verizon LG G3

Hi everyone,
New G3 user here, absolutely love this phone. I got a Qi charging sticker (http://amzn.com/B00MMRWS5E) and charger (http://amzn.com/B00F1SHFJA) on Amazon and both seem to work great, except for one minor hiccup: when my phones reaches 100%, the charging will shut off completely. It does not appear to trickle-charge; I put my phone on the charger at night and when I wake up my battery is often somewhere in the 90-99% range and the Battery panel in settings shows it as being off charge for sometimes several hours. I've searched high and low on these forums and through Google, and come up empty.
This issue isn't really a big deal, except that it messes with the Tasker profile I have set up to pair to my Bluetooth stereo when wireless charging (for music alarm). I realize there are ways to tweak the profile to work around this anomaly, but I'd really like it to work this way and I can't shake the idea that something is borked with my phone.
Anyone else experienced this? Is this standard behavior for this phone? My next thought is to try another wireless charger (the Tylt looks pretty cool) and see if that has any impact on it.

I have no issue, put the phone on the charger at night and in the morning it still shows charging at 100%.. I would suggest trying a different charger, I got generic one on ebay, sticker and pad cost a total of $8 and it works great.

I ordered this one http://amzn.com/B00JA7HNZO, it'll be here Monday and I'll report back.

I got three of these for $8 each with free prime shipping a while back. they work fine on my lg g3 and my wifes samsung gs4
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Char...420952241&sr=1-6&keywords=qi+wireless+charger

Testing wired charging tonight to rule out if this problem happens with wireless-only charging or any charging method. I'm starting to suspect my qi charger more and more, but this will tell us for sure.

Turned out my original Qi charged was faulty - new charger came today and everything works great! Phone charges to 100% and trickle-charges from there, and best of all it doesn't bork up my Tasker profile. All is well in the world.
Case closed.
EDIT:
Here's the one I got that caused this problem: http://amzn.com/B00F1SHFJA
And here's the one that does not cause the problem: http://amzn.com/B00JA7HNZO

[Q] LG Qi Charging Pad

Who has this and how does it work with the DNA? I read on Amazon that it has a really loud beep when you place it down or pick it up, or if it reaches full charge, etc. Another reviewer said they simply opened it up and pulled out the speaker.
So I do have this. Works great.
Oddly enough if the phone was on vibrate I don't remember it beeping.

I could only take a couple nights of being woken up by the beep before I ripped into it. Here's a thread on how to "disable" the speaker.

I have it. It only beeps when you first lay the phone on the pad. Love the convenience and mine is sitting on my nightstand, so the initial beep doesn't bother me since I'm obviously awake (I hope) when I place it on the pad.
I have it as well. It makes a loud beep when you put the phone down, and will beep if the phone isn't correctly placed. I have it on my bed stand and I have never been woken up by it beeping when it fully charges.
I just ordered one on amazon because they are 39+shipping rather than 79+shipping...
Honestly, this phone is perfect in every single way besides sense isn't my favorite Rom and the battery life. I have to charge it once during the day in addition to charging it overnight. Which is why I ordered this charging pad so I can just set it on that when I'm at home doing work or what have you.

they are only $49.99 at VZW. If you have a corporate discount, it brings it down to $37.50. I went this way, no waiting and much easier for warranty issues.

Typical of wireless charging. It charges no faster than USB.
I think the heat may come from the wireless charging coil.
I ordered one last week for $34 shipped from Amazon. Got it Friday. Works like a charm and don't think it's that loud either
Not an iPhone.....
My concern is that the heat will hurt the life of the device.
Unfortunately the heat comes with the territory.
LG Charging Pad
I bought this charger and have noticed a problem that seems like it could be a defect. When I place the phone on the pad it beeps (no big deal). After a while when the phone gets to a full charge the phone beeps (no big deal). What I don't like is that the phone does not actually ever get to a "full" charge. On the pad I have, it seem to only get to about 99 percent and then stop charging only to start again after a few seconds. Almost every time the charging stops and starts, the screen lights up and whenever the charging kicks on again it does the glorious beep. I read this from one other person on a forum so I hope this is just a defective unit. Can anyone tell me if when using this charger, your phone charge light ever turns green? When using this pad, my phone's charge light never turns green and I'm concerned that by using this my phone is getting a lot of extra wear and tear from the on/off of screen and charging. I already contacted the vendor and I think I'm going to do an exchange. If the second one has this behavior, i'm probably just going to scrap it for the Nokia even though they're more expensive. It would seem you get what you pay for I guess and i'd rather not take a chance...

Was your phone hot or just the charger? I'm curiuos to as to what the long term affect is going to be but its a risk I'm willing to take for the convience of wireless charging. I'm still waiting to see if it will charge through an Otterbox.

For me, its just the phone.
If I use a wireless charging pad at my office, is it going to hurt the battery in any way to be constantly picking up the phone and putting it back down on the charging pad, i.e. constant short charging periods? Will it effect long term battery life or possible just throw off the calibration?

Wireless Charger Weirdness (GDR3 Preview)

Since installing the GDR3 preview my phone does some really strange things when sitting on the wireless charger. It's gotten so bad lately that I have to put it in vibrate mode at night to keep from waking me.
When I first set it on the charging plate, it wakes up and dings just like it always has. However, a short time after, it will start doing that same thing over and over again. The last few days I'll take a look at it when I get up in the morning and it's got multiple apps running. This morning it was the Pro camera and picture apps. Yesterday it was Facebook and email. The day before that it was multiple settings pages...
Weirdness abounds!
Anyone else experiencing this?

When you put it on the charger place it so that the bottom end where the speakers are line up with the edge of the charger where the LED is. Also make sure it is centered from side to side. The last update turned down the sensitivity of the NFC system which is what the charger and phone use to talk with each other. If it is not lined up just right the phone does not think it is on the charger correctly and is warning you. It also apparently will chime now when it reaches full charge. I have not found out how to turn that feature off. I assume you can't. I think this is limited to the AT&T release of Amber only.

Interesting...I have noticed that it doesn't do it on the charging plate I have in my office, only at home. Of course, I have a Fatboy charging pillow and if MS did make the signal weaker, then that may explain it. I'm going to pull the charging plate (standard Nokia) out of the Fatboy and try it tonight.
I'll report back, thanks.

But you are not running the official AT&T Amber update that was sent to our phones OTA. As I said I think this is just AT&T adding their usual BS to a ROM to make it theirs.
i'm also running GDR3 on my 920, but i've got this "problem" from the beginning with one of my chargers...
interesting, where did you get that information about the weaker NFC singal? And are you shure, it does'nt work the other way around? (that the charger sends the signal/power to activate the NFC chip/tag on the phone?! seems to make much more sense to me)
What wireless charger model? Some of wireless charger has NFC inside and can use it to launch the app.

[Q] Xperia Z2 magnetic charge problem

Today i have problems with my magnetic charging cable and docking station it is not charging my Z2, the charging mod and normal mod are whispering see video for example the days before worked fine with the magnetic dock last night worked perfect only today i have problems with the magnetic dock charging..
Short example video:
The Z2 is not older then 30 days not rooted and has no damage..
Is there any other person with this problem our is there a solution for this problem?
Mine quit working a couple weeks ago. I've found several other posts online of the same problem as mine(not sure about yours since you didn't give any details). I haven't found any solutions besides sending it back.
If I use magnetic charging port I get an indication that charging keeps starting/stopping(with phone on or off) phone gets hot and battery drains much faster than normal(CPU stays at 2.3ghz but at 100%). USB charging also doesn't work properly but can at least charge the phone(works fine if phone is off but needs to be disconnected once full or phone gets hot and drains battery). This really throws a wrench into things for me since I have my own business and need my phone on so customers can reach me and use my phone for navigation and music while driving to customers. I used to put my phone in magnetic dock on night stand in beside clock mode ever night(wake up to fully charge phone and phone is ready ring if a customer calls before I wake up) and used a magnetic car dock while driving to not only keep my battery from draining a lot but usually arrive at my destination with it topped off.
I've been trying to get my US seller to help me get mine fixed/exchanged but now that they're starting to sell them here I'll probably send it in with my SW2 to Sony USA to have them fixed/replaced(unless my seller offers to send me a replacement).
On the plus side I've modified my Verizon Razr HD to work on US GSM carriers but I can't get my Metro PCS SIM(only half way through it's month) to work in it while my T mobile seems to he fine(Metro runs on T mobile network). So I'm trying to wait until the billing cycle ends to switch back to T mobile before sending mine in for repairs/replacement (hoping that this will line up with US stock arrival and they'll just send me a new device saving time).

I pretty much only use the magnetic port to charge, but I use a charging cable, not a dock. It's been about a month (maybe more?) since I got the charger, and the only problem is the positioning seems to be too sensitive (must be at the right angle for a good connection. Not sure if the magnet has gone weak or what. But the connection still works just fine.
I have no issues with the offical Sony charging dock, I think most of the cases of the magnetic point on the phone falling out is due to 3rd party cables that have stronger magnets.
I wish my problem was just that it fell out, that way I could just fix it myself and have to be without this phone for weeks if not months and then have to worry about if I get another one that might do the same thing.

Just got the update, and letting it settle in a bit.
Did the update.. S8+ seems to be a little snappier..
I have two S8+ and both have experienced a couple of problems with this update. Both also have an Otterbox Defender case. Before the update, I could use the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Stand without any problem. Now, it stops charging after about 10 seconds. If I take the case off the phone, it will charge fine, but I shouldn't have to do that now if it worked fine prior to the update. The other problem is the charger that came with the phone consistently gives "slow charger connected" messages on the phone.
I've never had luck with otter box cases as far as charging is concerned

I agree. The added protection seems to prevent a strong enough "signal" (not sure if it is wave or what) from charging the devices I've had. I guess that is the one of the trade-offs.

Lost hotspot after update.. But was able to reapply settings with no problem.
My S8+ did the update now wireless charging is not functional. I have the Samsung fast wireless charger and my S8+ is in an Otterbox Defender case. The wireless charging worked perfectly before the update. 50 to 100% in 45 minutes before the update. Now after the update wireless charging disables itself about 5 seconds into the charge. Doesn't matter what i do it wont charge. Will try to remove it from the case later today and see if that helps. Why would they break this?
You're not alone
I have also been having issues waking to a full charge in the morning after leaving on the Samsung wireless fast charger overnight. I place it on and see that I have connected and the screen goes off. I awake and the phone has less charge than when I placed it on there. Mine is also in a Defender case. The weird thing is that it is inconsistent. Will happen some nights, and not others. Completely hit or miss. Not sure if it is relating to applications running in the background, if they should be cleared out prior to charging overnight or if the phone is heating up and stops charging.
I have also seen where it displays a ridiculously long time to completely charge while plugged into a wall fast charger. Have seen where it will display 5+ hrs for a complete charge when it is at 58% and I am charging because I am going to an event and will not have access to a charger and don't need it going dead on me in that time frame.
I feel this has started ever since the most recent update.

Well an update for those interested. I removed the otterbox case and wireless charging worked again. I put the plastic surround case back on the phone and left the rubber skin off and wireless charging worked after fighting it on the dock for a bit. Placed the outer rubber skin back on and nothing, the wireless charging stopped working again.
This blows, whatever the last update did (changing the signal threshold for the wireless charging, maybe something with the batter security) Not sure those smarter then me might be able to figure it out, broke it.
This update has pretty much made the Otterbox Defender case useless if you intend to use the wireless charging feature. Or if you don't mind disassembling your phone every evening to use the wireless charging. I guess I could use the cable, but I wanted to avoid that, they wear badly.
Hope this helps someone out.

Wireless Charger Stand for Razer2 Found

I don't post here much since I have no clue about programming a phone. However, I know having a qi charger for this phone has been a challenge... Imagine my joy when I found one that only costs $5, and is also a stand! These are at 5 Below. It's not a fast charger, but it does work since it is adjustable.
I actually have this one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P999H4J
Initially it wouldn't work unless I placed the phone up a little higher, but all I did was open up the charger and moved the charging coils down a bit to match the location on the phone. It doesn't require any kind of soldering or anything. Just unscrewing, removal of adhesive (razor blade/knife), moving the coil set down, and then contact cementing it back in place. That being said, it's still annoying that Razer put the coil low on the phone.
I bought one of these this week. Having a little trouble finding the sweet spot. I'll wake up with the battery sitting at 98-99% and not charging. Maybe that's how wireless works? Charging on/off.

I just acquired a new to me RP2 so I have not checked this one yet, but all of my previous phones would qi charge up to 100% and then stop and sit slowly draining until the minimum battery percentage threshold would trigger it to charge again. Most were 90-95% when they would start charging again. I suspect it is to protect the battery from being damaged by too much charging, but that could be way off from the real reason for it.

Made an account just to chime in but I can confirm this works. It took a bit of doing, especially since I don't really have any electrical knowledge or skills so this was uncharted territory for me but it just took a bit of time and patience.
The one detail I would add is that in order to get the coils low enough to register for me (or for at least the case I was using) I had to break some protruding plastic teeth from the inside of the case. At first glance they looked like they were used the clip the front to the back, but there was no female slot to take the clips. Once I removed them I could position the coils EXACTLY where I needed them.
I included a pic of what position works for me. Good luck everyone!
