Bricked XZU C6802 PLEASE HELP!! - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hello guys, My XZU C6802 just got bricked today, in attempt to install Cyanogenmod.
I was rooted, I had dual recovery and I guess I installed CM10.2 because it was the most stable one out now, although, I didn't think and or realize that I can't go from a 4.4.4 to 4.3 on the 10.2..... I'm an idiot.
However, I've tried every method online to try and boot the phone up but it just won't turn on....
I've left it in charge for hours on end, 6-7 Hours and no point... Sony Support that I called told me to, Connect a wall charger to it, then at the same time hold power button and top volume button and if it vibrated 3 times that means the hardware is fine and the phone is responding.... in which mine did that and he told me to leave it in charge and to try and turn it on after a few hours.... but that didn't work either. It's connected to the charger but it's just blinking red LED light all the time constantly.
I can put it in boot loader mode only, by connecting the usb and holding VOLUP button at the same time as plugging in the usb.
I don't know what to do and I really need my phone, so I hope someone can help me!
I don't know if its gone now or if it's worth anything, should I sell it, keep it? I love the phone but if this is how it's going to be for a while or always at this point, Might as well try and sell it cheap and get another Samsung maybe.
I hope I don't have too. Please help guys!
Thank you XDA!

Did you try flashing stock ftf? That should help.
Hold volume down button while plugging in the usb cable to your pc, the led might go green (if i remember right), meaning you booted into flashmode correctly,
then download the flashtool from the internet and ftf from the forum and flash it off.
You should have it working
br
s

If you can get to the bootloader then just fastboot flash the approprate(IE the offical version that was on your before you borked it. if I recall correctly its probably listed in the bootloader) kernel, fota, and system image files. I'm sure there is a thread here that has the files. As an aside if you can get to the bootloader, you are not bricked, you're fine man/woman, listen to The Eagles on this one.

Did you unlock the boot loader at all?
anyway to recover:
download flashtool (http://flashtool.net)
download a FTF (see FTF thread in dev section)
start flashtool
select flashmode
select FTF from above
select start/flash/etc (cant remember the wording)
wait for the graphic to say connect phone
Hold vol. down key while connecting phone - LED will flash (blue?) for about 1/2 a second then turn off
(if the above does't work press the red reset button beside the SD card slot and try again)
wait for flash to finish
disconnect phone

You could also try EMMA from Sony.
Worked ery well everytime I bricked mine

Download sony pc companion and install it. Goto update software and select & make sure your phone is off and plug it in while holding vol up or vol down to get it in flash mode. PC should recognise it after installing drivers and select the recovery option if given ( you might have to tell it to force an update or it might automatically do it). Sit or make a cuppa while waiting for it to download the sony rom. You wont re lock your bootloader just restore the sony rom. Once downloaded it should start the process, I've done it a few times and managed to recover it.

Sony PC Companion won't work, tried it a lot. I have also tried EMMA too. Doesn't work, emma says; I have a locked boot loader.

I couldn't find any FTF?? I'm new here, i'm sorry, I just didn't really find anything. I got the flattop though. Thanks for that.
Found FTF; http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...tf-depository-sony-firmware-releases-t2829387

Thanks blueether. I used flashboot to unlock my boatload and then phones screen turned on and then I flashed FTF and it was complete reboot and I have my Stock back. Then loaded dual recovery again and restored my tarp backup of my complete phone. its working great thanks to you.
One question I have now, since I unlocked the boot loader and then re-installed stock, does this mean I have to unlock it again to be able to install Cyanogen or it permanently stays unlocked?

I didn't mention unlocking it in the guide did I?
Now that you have unlocked it (and I assume that you dont have a TA backup) just leave it unlocked. the only point to relocking is if you have a TA backup to do it with to restore the DRM keys that you just wiped

I had the same problem.
Just unlock it via fastboot like described on the sony homepage ( http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ ) . The only thing you can't do is checking if its possible to unlock your bootloader, so just jump this step (worked with my C6833, no warranty to work with other models fron other countries).
Then you can use EMMA without any troubles any time you brick it. At least with my device it worked.

When you unlocked the boot loader isnt it better? I thought that's what everyone does in order to install custom Roms am I right? I mean when I had locked one I couldn't turn on my phone when I had installed cyanogen m

yes you have to unlock the bootloader to run custom ROMs and kernels, but if you don't back up the TA before you unlock it you have no way to get back to a pure stock state and you lose your DRM keys - so things that rely on them no longer work.

Ah, I see. What are DRM keys used for? and What would no longer work exactly? Sorry, I am new to this, so I am trying to get some knowledge of what everything is exactly.

Screencasting is one thing it breaks. The backup you made in recovery before unlocking your bootloader should relock it if restored. I have never been able to confirm if it might also restore drm keys though.

Okay thanks.
I have been trying to install recovery and root my z ultra again after a clean fresh stock restore and I can't install it.
I keep getting Towelroot error.. Tr.apk - Easyroot...
I have even downloaded the tr.apk separately and put it in the Files folder like it asks... Still.. no luck.
I am trying to install recovery on un-rooted rom then boot into recovery and flash supersu.zip.
Any easier ways? Any other ways to root and install recovery?
I have been trying many ways and I haven't gotten much luck.
Thanks.

now that your BL is unlocked life is simple, flash bootloader with recovery, flash su from recovery. although [NUT]'s dual recovery should work just as easy
You could try and flash (or even hotboot) this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705130

brick Sony z ultra GPE
Hey there! Such a problem. I beg your Sony Z Ultra GPE through Flashtool, as it turned out it can not be done. As a result, received a full brick. Does not respond to any operation. Please help if you can! Have a backup TA section. When connecting the phone without a battery, the computer recognizes it as SEMC Flash Device. Thanks in advance. Sorry for my English.

Ah I see.
I checked the thread you sent me, I cannot hotboot it, it doesn't detect my device for some reason.
I have all ADT, ADB, FLASHMODE AND BOOTLOADER mode drivers, it has worked before.
Any suggestions any ideas? Also I was wondering, is this for 4.4.4 the doomkernal you sent or 4.4.2? Cuz there's a pic in the thread showing 4.4.2 so I just wanted to make sure!
In the thread, this was mentioned, however, I don't understand this at all, well not much anyway.

[Q]What went wrong, when flashing X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf

I tried to unlock bootloader following the guide on the developer section (actually, only the "guide" in the header, 1 step). I tried multiple times, and this always happen (attachment)
edited:
This seems to be the situation for the fxp 123 too.
--
As I'm a noob. I have no idea whether to flash the fxp 123 with our without bootloader. Anyhow.. as my question says.. I can't do ether.
odd,
i actually did the exact same thing and its fine here.
this is what your trying to do yes ?(below)
•flash the azuzu kernel downgrade ftf with flashtool
•disconnect usb cable, press power button until phone vibrates shortly and immidiatly connect the usb cable again (it is supposed to be stuck at SE logo)
•start the batch file for unlocking bootloader, cause it says press any button before it starts, it won't start unlocking until you press any button
•now wait until flashtool recognizes your x10 (if flashtool doesn't do anything, check third post please! thx)
•close flashtool and then press any button in the cmd window that the unlocking process starts (please close flashtool, instead the bl unlock cmd and flashtool are constantly killing and restarting adb!!)
•after unlocking is finish you have to flash azuzu kernel upgrade
•now power on phone to check if the phone is starting after the unlock (if you are using a custom kernel yet with the bypass method and get stuck in a bootloop enter xrecovery and clear dalvik-cache, then your phone should boot up again fine)
•power off phone and flash dooms ck v05-fs with flashtool
•now flash the wifi modules for dooms ck with recovery. (atm the update.zips are for xrec, but for sure please always check dooms kernel-thread if there is anything changed)
•power on phone again and if everything is right, read the line under that one
•WOOOHOOO!!! Here you are with unlocked bootloader, custom kernel directly loaded AND without reflashing any rom, means you have kept your current installation
a.have you tried checking the S1Tool to see if you can unlock ive seen people saying its just not an option.
b. what are you choosing to flash ? i actually selected kernel straight away on the downgrade part
maybe use the s1tool and post that so people can respond to that
No. It says I only have to flash the X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf, if I'm going to a custom ROM afterwards.
Have I misunderstood?
i guess its me misunderstanding
could you like me the thread where you got the file from or your guide
if your unlocking your bootloader i find it odd that the file says BL''RELOCK''
anyways this is the guide i followed and worked like a charm.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087&highlight=blrelock
the first post has the guide and my files were called the following
qsd8250 (zip file wich held the qsd8250_semc.bat)
wich allowed me to unlock the bootloader (this file had nothing to do with flashtool)
only used flastool for 2 things.
1) downgrade kernel
2) after qsd8250 was done unlocking bootloader to upgrade kernel to doomkernels V6 for UL bootloaders (was my choice of kernel)
That was the guide I used too.
"If you aren't keeping your current device configuration (because of flashing another rom after unlocking bootloader or anything else) the simplest way to unlock is to flash stock 2.3.3 rom, root it and use the bl unlock plugin from latest flashtool"
So i took the flash thing named bl_something..
---
As it seems that was wrong, can you give me a quick tutorial, as I didn't quit understand your way. and this one mention and easy way to do it if you'r going to change ROM at once.
tutorial read beyond the big text http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087
basicly it says this.
1) get the files you need
semc bat is for x10i and x10a. But only if you haven't tried any simunlocking
the bl unlock file from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1253277 - thanks to the_laser
Kernel up/downgrade for flashtool from here: - thanks to azuzu im using FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec
and a custom kernel for Unlocked bootloaders (since your unlocking it )
i used doomkernels v6 for UL BL
Wifi modules for kernel if needed mine had it built in
and then the guide tells you to do this
Please make sure you have enabled usb-debugging in your current rom before starting with this!!
•flash the azuzu kernel downgrade ftf with flashtool
(i opened flashtool selected flash and then selected 'kernel downgrade' and in the other tab i skipped the 'loader' and selected 'kernel')
•disconnect usb cable, press power button until phone vibrates shortly and immidiatly connect the usb cable again (it is supposed to be stuck at SE logo)
(it asks you to do this and so i did)
1) turn off phone
2)unplug phone
3)hold back button
4)stil while holding back button plug phone in
5) flashtool takes over and you can let go
•start the batch file for unlocking bootloader, cause it says press any button before it starts, it won't start unlocking until you press any button
(when its done open the qsd8250 file wich you unzip(ped) and start the qsd8250_semc.cmd)
•after unlocking is finished you have to flash azuzu kernel upgrade
(same deal as the downgrade)
•now power on phone to check if the phone is starting after the unlock (if you are using a custom kernel yet with the bypass method and get stuck in a bootloop enter xrecovery and clear dalvik-cache, then your phone should boot up again fine)
•power off phone and flash the kernel you downloaded with flashtool
(the one you picked as said i used doomkernels v6 for UL BL)
•now flash the wifi modules if its needed with xrecovery. NOT FLASHTOOL!!!!
•power on phone again and if everything is right, read the line under that one
If you aren't seeing the se logo at turning on phone, but directly the custom kernel logo, you were succesfully. If you want to enter xrecovery you have to spam the back button now if the xperia logo appears instead of the se logo.
and thats it
all thnx should go to 9Lukas5 since i just copy / pasted evrything that he wrote

And when are the bat file finished, it didn't give a clear message, so after a while i exited it.
the bat file auto exits when completed cant remember but it asks you to press any key again and when you do it auto closes
make sure thats done and make sure you do this while flashtool is closed
so close flashtool before pressing any key in de bat file
and i dont see an error in the flash tool info you posted ? how is it stuck ?
i dont know if it matters but i actually upgraded straight away to the kernel i wanted to use
so instead of doing the kernel upgrade delivered with flashtool i upgraded to doomkernels v6 ULBL
seems like your almost there
The upgrade didn't continue..
I'll try your method instead, as for the bat tool.. it's "stuck" at the *daemon started successfully*
ah yeah ok
its bat file first while flashtools turned of
then when it auto closed turn flashtool back on and upgrade
I don't think you understood my explanation
First I downgraded
then I started the bat
then I closed the flashtool
then I pressed "any key" in the bat
then it got stuck on *daemon started successfully*, and it still get stucks there.

I think u may be missing adb drivers on ur pc
Sent from my Xperia X10 using XDA
I think you might be right.
First, after a while just having the bat file opened this pops up: "error: protocol fault (no status)". Whatever that means, and it get stuck at the deamon thing again.
however when I start flashtool while having the bat file open it starts killing the apb server because it is out of date.
now.. what is adb server and how do I update/Install it?
Also, when I get this apb server thing installed ( can anyone link? ), can I use FXP 123 to upgrade with?
edit:
I used another computer, as I was away from my main computer. I got no problem with the adb server there, other than windows defender, but I manage to allow it
now, back to the question above: Can I install FXP 123 as custom kernal? instead of upgrade?
Thats what i did but with doomkernels v6 and no pro lems here ... maybe just to be safe flash the upgrade first then your fx123 its how the guide told us to do it
Sent from my X10 using xda premium
and so I did
Then I installed CM7 FXP123 .... stuck at CM7 loading logo
any idea what happend?
---
btw, thank you so much for the help so far! I really appreciate it and ofc used the thanks button! ^^
Redo de wipes ... enter recovery if you can? Its the rom loadin not kernel is it?
Then full wipe
Wipe cache partition
And wipe dalvik cache or whatever its called
In xrecovery its in adv option i believe
Ive googled some more and dalviks cache alone might even be sufficient
Sent from my CM7 Zmod / doomkernels v6 UL BL X10!
(And all that without bricking it) so far atleast.

To fully run adb u need to download java runtime environment and android SDK. The reason I think its adb is because it stops after saying starting daemon. This I think is adb starting

Got everything working now.. except, I don't have a market app
As I said I just used another computer and the bat file worked, and after wiping all data as Bjornlindekens suggested I got it running.

[Q] CM9 problem Bricked phone (no response at all)

Hello
My phone: sony ericsson experia Neo (MT15i)
I tried to instal CM9 but something went wrong and now i cant start my phone.(normal, recovery nor fastboot)
I downloaded CM9, extracted the boot.img file, and placed it in the fastboot folder.
Then i placed the Zip and the google apps on the SD-card.
I then rebooted the phone in Fastboot and flashed the boot.img file.
Everything looked like it went fine but the phone wasn't rebooting. I've tried alot of things now but nothing works.
The only thing that happens when I try to put on the phone is the slight vibration in the beginning and then nothing happens.
Can somebody please help me? I cant even go in recovery with CWM
I also had this problem with CM 9. You just have the flash the old kernel back. Or you can flash the whole firmware again: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239
Edit: with Flashtool.
I would have tried that, but the problem is i cant go into flashmode anymore. Nothing works.
Fastboot?

2)why volume down?
5)seus nor pcc doesn't relock bootloader, plus if he unlocked it via official way, he won't be able to use pcc nor seus.
@OP: what happens when you try connecting in fastboot mode? No blue led? Hows your phone named in device manager?
@madfysh
I had the same problem with that CM9 kernel and I had unlocked bootloader & I recovered my phone using SUSE by the same process I wrote that's y I suggested him those steps

I think there might be a problem with the Trim Area though. I have been looking for a solution but it seems hard.

I was thinking there was a trim area problem so I was looking for a solution.
At first there was nothing, no device recognized when I attached it to a pc. No flastboot, no flash, no recovery, no leds, nothing at al (exept for a slight vibration in the beginning).
Then I followed the method for unlocking the boot loader with testpoint and then te pc recognized the device as a neo. But thats all. Nothing more, stil no reaction when i try to turn the phone on in any way.
I disconnected the device and now when I reconnect it it isn't recognized anymore.

Use Flashtool, flash an Official Global ftf from SONY, then let it boot up. It will work. Only way to do it. PM me if needed
Is this the OFFICIAL CyanogenMod 9 RC1? The boot.img does not work. Use the boot.img from FXP's Unofficial CyanogenMod 9. It works. Personally though, use FXP's CM9 cause it's working better then the official one.
Before using the full restore method (The Flashtool thing) try flashing the boot.img from FXP first. Still doesn't work? Flash official, boot-up, turn off, flash FXP kernel, full-wipe, flash ROM, reboot.
My Phone is fixed.
Alejandrissimo helped me with rebuilding the Trim Area.
Everything works fine now, except connecting to 3G/HSDPA. I used to be able to connect to it but now it doesn't anymore.
Does someone knows a solution for that?

Hello arcsuser,
Thanks for your help,
I have downloaded the zip file as proposed.
unfortunately I was not able to install it because I don't have the root access on my tablet.
If there is a way to install the zip file without the recovery mode I'd be glad to know it.
if not, I will have to go through the process.
thanks again for your help.
let me know if there is a way without the root mode

Actually I have now the same question than "OP" on the recovery mode. I have now rooted the device the "super user app" is available and activated.
but I still can't access the recovery mode. I have tried the key combination mentioned in your post to "OP". then I referred to the post from DooMLoRD "All the info you need before you begin" with the Xperia Z tablet where the recovery mode is described.
I have the sony screen displayed, then I press volume up, the boot is going the normal way.
I tried with the usb cable connected to the PC, then it goes directly to the Xperia logo.
I tried the normal reboot (one light falshing) and the hard reboot (3 lights flashing) I do not have the device vibrating like explained by DooMLoRD.
Is this the reasn ?
thanks for your help again.

You don't need recovery to install the apps if you have root. Just unzip the file using root explorer. The unzipped file will show from the structure where the files have to go so just copy them to the corresponding folder on the tab using root explorer. (apps, and their associated odex file if there is one, will usually be in /system/app folder) Don't forget to set the permissions (rw-r--r-- for system apps and odex files), also using root explorer. Reboot and if they're gonna work as system apps they will...

Disclaimer: "Before you do any thing please follow this thread & Backup your TA key first using this thread " or you will lose DRM keys forever.
My Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact SGP 621 is now rooted with lollipop 5.0.2
1) First I flashed the normal Lollipop firmware using the flashtool which is there in one of the threads in Sony xperia Z3 tablet compact android development section
2) Then I checked in the dialer if bootloader can be unlocked. It said yes. Bootloader was then unlocked using the Sony website where you get the Sony unlock code in your email.
3) Then I followed this thread to http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...ment/advanced-stock-kernel-twrp-root-t2959720 to root my Sony Xperia Z3 tablet compact.
4) I did have few hiccups in the step 3 as I was new to Sony devices. Previously I was using Samsung devices (tablet and phones) but I managed to get the TWRP installed at this point.
5) Then I flashed the prerooted Zip file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...-sgp621-lollipop-23-1-0-690-noba-ftf-t3058400
6) I did backup TA keys once my device was rooted. Since I read in many threads that backing up TA keys required root.
Thats it. Once I was finished with step 5. Tablet got rebooted and I had SuperSu installed with awesome lollipop firmware on my Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet compact.
Now I am a very happy and satisfied man since then. I am getting excellent battery life of above 10 hours in 4 days.
Since I was new to Sony devices I had to struggle a bit but it was worth the hardwork. Lollipop is extremely smooth and battery life is amazing.
Hope you find this information useful. If you need screenshots please let me know I will share it in my next post.
Cheers!
That's great, but it look like complex...., can you write the steps in detail?
Detailed procedure I followed to root my Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet SGP 621 (lollipop)
Disclaimer: "Before you do any thing please follow this thread & Backup your TA key first using this thread " or you will lose DRM keys forever.
Here is what I did. Sorry for making it so long.
MY PC - Windows 7 x64 SP1
My Device - Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
1) Install the flashtool on your PC. The one which I used was flashtool-0.9.18.5-windows.exe file.
Once downloaded install the flashtool to lets say C:\Flashtool.
In that folder go to "drivers" folder and install the file.
This is extremely important.
Please refer to the "driver installation 1.jpeg" and "driver installation 2.jpeg" in the attachments below on what to select during installation.
Once you select those three options hit "install".
Now you have flashtool installed on your PC.
Go to "Start" -> type " Flash and you will have two options if you are having 64bit windows OS. Select "Flashtool 64".
For better understanding please check the "Flashtool 64.jpeg" in the below attachments.
When you open flashtool software it will ask you to move the firmware ftf file which is there in C:\Flashtool\firmwares to C:\Users\abcd\.flashTool\firmwares
abcd is my username in the PC I used.So you have to navigate to similar path in your PC.
In the same location paste your Sony lollipop firmware SGP621_23.1.A.0.690_NOBA.ftf
flashtool is ready for use.
2) On your Sony xperia z3 tablet. Go to Settings -> Developer settings -> Check USB debugging and unknown sources.
Switch off the device.
Now press "volume down" and connect the Sony Xperia Z3 tablet to your PC.
Select the SGP621_23.1.A.0.690_NOBA.ftf in the flashtool and flash it.
This might take roughly 5 to 10 minutes but it will complete for sure.
Reboot the device and go inside the Settings -> Developer settings -> Check USB debugging and unknown sources.
3) Unlocking bootloader (Do this step ONLY if you have backed up your TA keys or Do NOT attempt this)
Open the phone dialer on Sony Xperia Z3 tablet and type *#*#7378423#*#* .
Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status.
It should say bootloader unlock allowed: yes
You will need IMEI number of your Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Either you can check on your Box or type *#06# and you will get your IMEI number.
Write this down somewhere.
Go to this site http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ and follow the instructions to get your unique unlock code.
Once you go through each and every step in that sonymobile site you will get the code and further instructions in your email.
For better understanding please check the jpeg attachments "bootloader unlock step 3" and "bootloader unlock step 4" below.
Now Power off your Sony Xperia Z3 tablet compact and then press "volume up".
Connect the tablet to PC.
To proceed further you will need adb. Click here to download adb.
Install the adb setup on your PC.
Go to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Press "shift" button and right click in the empty space inside that folder.
You will get the option "Open Command Window here"
Select that option.
Now type the below commands (these commands are there in the bootloader unlock step 3.jpeg and bootloader unlock step 4.jpeg" below in attachments)
fastboot devices
fastboot i 0x0fce oem unlock <your unlock code>
Thats it. Your bootloader should be unlocked now.
Reboot the device and go inside the Settings -> Developer settings -> Check USB debugging and unknown sources.
3) Installation of TWRP and Root.
You need .img file for this.
From this thread I downloaded the .img
File name will be Z3TC-stock-twrp.img.
Just rename this file as boot.img and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Power off your Sony Xperia Z3 tablet compact and then press "volume up".
Connect your tablet to PC.
Go to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Press "shift" button and right click in the empty space inside that folder.
You will get the option "Open Command Window here"
Type the below commands one after the other.
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot boot.img
it should say "finished". check the "successful bootimg commands.jpeg " in below attachments.
Reboot the device.
Download the Pre-rooted flashable Zip from here
Download the SuperSu from here
Copy the Prerooted flashable zip and SuperSU to your SD card.
Switch off the Tablet.
Go to recovery by pressing "power" & volume up and down alternatively.
You will now enter TWRP.
Install the SuperSU zip file.
Then Install the Pre-rooted flashable zip file.
Reboot and you are done!
You will now have working Root, TWRP and awesome Lollipop firmware on your beautiful Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
4) Final step Backup TA keys.
After rebooting the device.
Once it enters the homescreen.
Go inside the Settings -> Developer settings -> Check USB debugging and unknown sources.
Connect the Tablet to PC
Download the backup TA software from here
Extract it on your PC.
Double click on the Backtup-TA.bat
It will identify your device.
Just back up your DRM keys from the options on your screen.
I read online and in some threads in XDA that backup TA software needs the device to be rooted and that is why I kept this step in the end.
I completely agree if you guys find the above procedure tedious.
After going through many threads and websites this is how the steps panned out.
This is the procedure that worked for me in the end.
I did have few hiccups and bootloop as well. Then I just kept it flashmode and re-flashed the lollipop ftf file using flashtool with "wipe data" option checked.
That solved the problem.
Coming from Samsung devices I had to find out what was fastboot mode, flash mode, how to enter recovery and how to use flashtool. It was all new to me.
But I didn't give up and went through the grind.
Result? Super Sony Xperia Z3 Compact SGP 621 with Root on Lollipop firmware with Excellent battery life.
Thanks to all the brilliant developers on this site who in various threads explained various aspects of rooting. It is because of them I was able to put everything together.
Please find all the screenshots in the attachments below.
Hope you find this information useful.
Thank you
Cheers!
I do not understand the procedure.
If you unlock the bootloader (step 3) you lose the keys drm. The backup of the partition TA must do so before unlocking the bootloader.
You have verified that have intact the drm keys?
(not speak English, I use translator)

Thank you

I think when you unlock bootloader, you will lose DRM keys.....
Sony apps that are working after rooting
kvi said:
I do not understand the procedure.
If you unlock the bootloader (step 3) you lose the keys drm. The backup of the partition TA must do so before unlocking the bootloader.
You have verified that have intact the drm keys?

Hi,
Yes, I am able to login to PSN network after rooting with the above steps.
Unfortunately, I do not have PS4 to check the connection.
Please find the attached screenshots for your reference.

Thank you. I followed your steps and everything works fine. I can connect to PS4 remotely using LTE without any problem.
But is it possible to get a working TWRP? I can't get into recovery mode after rooting and flash the device. Any solution? I need to flash xposed via TWRP...Thanks.

Hi,
In order to get working TWRP you can try repeating the step 3 and reflash the .img file from that step. I am hopeful that doing this will work.
Don't forget to check to check the USB debugging AND unknown sources in security options.
To enter recovery you need to keep holding the "power" and keep pressing "volume" up and down alternatively for a little while say 10 to 15 seconds (max).
It will enter the TWRP for sure.
Once you do enter TWRP just "wipe cache" & " wipe dalvich cache" once.
Cheers!
TA partition backup
i am pretty sure u need root on a locked bootloader before backing up ur TA keys.
once unlocked,ur TA keys are gone.no amt of backups, reflash official firmware or any other magic shows will recover those keys.
u can check if ur TA keys are intact by keying in*#*#7378423#*#* select service tests>security and look out for for the screenshot below.i have compared an unrooted and rooted with TA backed up and am very sure this is what u shld have if u have backed up TA keys correctly and restored them. Any errors would mean ur TA keys are screwed.

Mate, I suggest you remove/amend/add disclaimer to your post on how you root and backup your TA.
It is well known and proven in xda for sony devices, you CANNOT unlock your bootloader to backup TA keys. Once unlock, your TA keys are GONE and there is no way you can recover them.
that is why the root exploit was found on the z3 compact and we are able to root with a LOCKED bootloader to backup TA keys BEFORE unlocking and flash like no tomorrow.
Please do all the noobs a favor and make the changes before someone here starts multiple threads on recovering TA keys or warranty related questions.
It didn't work to reflash TWRP, it will just get into boot loop unless flash the rom again. The the previous TWRP was gone.
Can you verify that you can enter TWRP after flashing the rom? Look likes it is impossible for now.

Ok, I found out the correct solution to get TWRP works on rooted lollipop Z3TC.
Follow the other XZDualrecovery tread and install the XZDualRecovery. Then you can boot into TWRP by using volume Down.
You can also install Xposed framework via TWRP and Xposed installer via regular apk install.
I did get bootloop by installing xposed installer. Just uninstall Xposed framwork from TWRP then it will back to normal. Hope this helps.

Qilive(smartphone) how to root Q8 series tutorial(q8s5in4gp-q8s55in4g2)

1-step
in order to root these qilive devices you will need...
magisk manager apk v5.6.4
stock boot.img file
working ADB to unlock oem and flash
2-step
lets get to it
place the magisk.apk and the stock boot.img
in the internal memory of your phone (downloads)
if you like to keep stuff organized :good:
3-step
follow the vídeo tutorial and use magisk manager
to patch your stock boot.img it will output a new
boot.img that includes magisk Root (patched_boot.img)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF4_hnKgjFA
ps: major ty to hovatek team for this great tutorial
step-4 use Google drive or usb OTG to get the patched_
boot.img to your PC and place it in the ADB folder
once you have oem(bootloader) unlocked just
rename the patched_boot.img to boot.img
step-5
unlock oem, these qilive devices wont unlock
the bootloader even if you enable it in DEV options
enable USB debug in dev options
you will need to use ADB commands
command- adb devices
serial appears
command- adb reboot bootloader
phone reboots to fastboot mode
command- fastboot devices
serial appears
command- fastboot oem unlock
(MAJOR WARNING the fastboot
oem unlock will wipe/reset/factoryreset/delete your data)
after you give the command small letters will appear
on the phone screen(yes or no) hard to read dont be hasty plz
use VOLUME+ to select and VOLUME - to confirm
note: when my phone ended the unlock it whent back to
that black screen where you choose fastboot-recovery-restart
and was stuck there, side keys did nothing if this happens
just long press the power key for 10 sec it will shutdown
then press power again to turn on
first boot after unlock will take longer then normal dont freakout
after you unlock small letters will appear during boot up saying the device
is not safe unlocked ,you can later use ( fastboot oem lock )
step-6
flash the patched boot.img with ADB
command- adb devices
serial appears
command- adb reboot bootloader
phone reboots to fastboot mode
command- fastboot devices
serial appears
command- fastboot flash boot boot.img
finished/ok
command- fastboot reboot
and voila you should now have magisk
installed in the app drawer, open it!!
step-7 run the install one final time from the
magisk manager and install magisk V16 using
recomended option it will verify/patch the boot image
Do NOT select the AVB 2.0 BOX it will bootloop the phone
and your done, enjoy your qilive rooted phone.
from this point on you can use the fastboot
command- fastboot oem lock
to remove the letters in boot up about the
device not safe unlocked
WARNING oem lock
will WIPE/FACTORY RESET again (god damn it!!)
ps: i had to install twice in a row, major pain in the ....
Repeat step 7 after Wipe/Reset
here is the stock boot for 2 qilive models
you can get the stock firmware for any qilive
at this site www.doc-doapi.com/EM/qilive/smartph...te_3m-fdd-cs_mul_20170818-110645_songlixin_PC
and get the recovery or boot from the unpacked firmware file
ps:my phone is the Q8SIN4GP AND ITS WORKING FINE
A VERY SPECIAL TY to topjohnwu (magisk creator), this man is nothing
short of a God damn genius!! , and if you can donate to him.
hope this helps other qilive users to root:highfive:
quick note on the qilive models, they have two model names
the cliente name in my case Q8SIN4GP
and the factory name in my model its 882912
in order to download the right firmware for your model
you need the factory model witch is what appears in the qilive
site above, it will be in the back of the phone or the original
box on a sticker just bellow the bar code, full model exempl
:Q8SIN4GP/882912 my firmware serves several models,
these Q8 models all start with 88xxxx WARNING
dont try this using the wrong firmware/boot file or you will DAMAGE your phone
Help with BOOTLOOP problems, if you find your self stuck in a bootloop
the phone wont go past the qilive logo and just stays there, dont freak out
you will loose your data but there is a way out
just keep pressing power + Volume up until a black screen with 3 options appears
when it does let go, use Volume + to select option and Volume - to confirm
select Fastboot or alternative select recovery and then select reboot to bootloader
both option will place your phone in Fastboot mode, once in fastboot mode
connect your phone to PC and use ADB commands to fix/bootloop
command- fastboot devices
serial appears
command- fastboot oem unlock (skip this if you use phone unlocked)
a confirm action option appears on the phones screen
use Volume up to say YES / or Volume Down to say NO
Warning oem unlock will WIPE/Factory reset your phone
once it finishes the phone will be stuck on the
Recovery/fastboot/restart screen just long press the power key
until the phone shuts down
start the phone again using Power + Volume up when the black
screen with the 3 options come up, let go and use Volume up to
select Fastboot mode and confirm using Volume Down
Once in fastboot connect your phone to PC and use ADB commands
command- fastboot devices
serial apears
Here you will flash the magisk patched_boot.img
the same image you used to root your phone
command- fastboot flash boot boot.img
it will say finished-ok (or similar)
command- fastboot reboot
the boot up time will be longer than normal
but the phone should now complete the boot
and present the inicial setup screen, select language
enter your mail, the usual bla bla...
any way at this point just repeat step 7
to get root running again

hi phonedriller,
...well, i must have been an unlucky fisherman
an app i installed ended up giving me a soft brick (bootloop between qilive icon opening screen - btw still with the "warning" of "device is unsafe etc", i.e. oem still open - and black screen, qilive opening screen etcetcetc)
have cleaned cache; went for factory reset; etc
BUT: am presently stuck when trying to go via ADB (which used to work perfectly before) that somehow the usb drivers don't want to get installed properly. as a consequence, desktop cannot see devices.
and i cannot, for the sake of me, remember how i had succeeded before installing usb drivers.
could you please help?
thx

PS: adb will not work if the phone is not booting to the OS
it will work if you manualy place the phone in fastboot AKA bootloader
MODE ,you see if it does not boot to OS then usb service is not working
use power + Volume up to enter the black menu
use the Volume up to select fastboot(bootloader) volume - to confirm
connect the phone to your PC
flash the boot.img, the same boot.img used to root (patched by magisk)
to see is adb is ok just run - fastboot devices
if a serial is presented then all other stuff should work
step 1 - reflash the boot img
step 2 - after the flash finishes - fastboot oem lock
message on the phone screen, confirm yes to lock
OEM
step 3- press power until it turns off
it should now complete the start up (boot)
if not working this method let me now
you can still flash the full factory firmware
using SP Flash Tool v5.17xx

however:
phone (now without the "orange state" message, i.e. oem locked) still bootloops and short of ADB "fastboot devices" the desktop doesn't see the phone (and driver installation continues to fail), as per your PS (thanks!) i guess flashing the full factory firmware ("RC-mt6737...zip" quoted by you in your very first post) is next.
would you please point me to a basic-for-noobs tutorial or instruct me on the step-by-step commands/procedures using this zip file?!
HUGE thanks

I had issues with adds being displayed at home screen and I was not able to close them. I had to use NetGuard to find that FOTA talks to 'adsup' and it is a known malware provider. I learned that some of the system apps try to talk with Alibaba servers and AdOppo (whatever it's called). Kaspersky might not be wrong, actually.
I'm trying to download stock firmware, but I don't know the file name. The website with it is locked, so unless I know exactly what I need, I cannot download it.

Up any phone cheap or flagship, thus the firmware flashes,i discovered that having malwarebytes(premium)free for 30days keeps the phone clean and working fine,it seems that one is forced to buy from a main stream brand or risk this kind of thing, little to no support,no updates at all,bad security, the problem is certain apps if removed resoult in boot loop like this Helper app

Flashing is super easy use spflashtools or. Odin compiling a Rom is not , were you able to get the original firmware? You will need the original firware to get the boot and partition info from what i read so far
Unfortunately not. I will ask at the shop where I bought it how to contact tech. It should be freely available. I don't understand why Qilive restricted access to firmware.
I'll post when I learn anything.
Well, you can download the firmware if you know the file name. The bad news is, it seems the stock firmware has malware preinstalled. If there is anyone who could help confirm it. I have the ROM, and I can upload it to Google Drive if needed.
Hi all,
I'm coming back to a question lingering since the very first post here and mentioned again in post #9:
Is there a successful way to install TWRP on this Qilive model?
Re this topic:
- has anybody tried/has anybody been successful with the procedure described in post #9?
and
- has anybody seen the following TWRP builders' version (do an in-page search on Q8S55IN4G2)
https://twrpbuilder.github.io/fr/downloads/twrp/
with the download belonging to it
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657591798
???
any successful installations to report???
Wouldn't THAT be great!!??
thanks
