[Q] MHL on Galaxy Alpha - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Greetings,
I know officially mhl is not supported on galaxy alpha
For curiosity's sake and confirmation - will someone please plug in an mhl cable and test if there's any hdmi video signal to the monitor?
Many thanks!

Nope, it won't work. I have one that I use for my Samsung Tab Pro 10,1, and it doesn't output anything on the Galaxy Alpha. I was actually amazed when it didn't mostly becuase Samsung seems to have cut corners everywhere on this device besides the chassis.

Thank you for testing that out..
I had been contemplating on galaxy alpha as it is on clearance... with the lack of community development for this device...I guess I'll give it a miss and see what does S6 have for offer

I shelled out for the Alpha, 0/10 wouldn't do again. Good choice on a flagship that will at least get support with time. This is horrendous. I really need to learn compiling roms. There's like NO development for this device. I should have learned by now not to buy niche products.

What problems your alpha has? At least mine works like charm, no need for CM or any other custom rom... This is first Android for me that I haven't rooted. Usually people need an software update or custom ROM, when the device has something missing and/or something is not working properly.

Well for starters, when I listen to music from Google Play and the device goes into sleep in the pocket it starts lagging, lol. It only stops when it has fully switched onto the smaller processor, I guess? To me that's bad coding. TouchWiz is still clunky and too colorful for my liking, and the dark blue color is just not to my liking either. The screen is not THAT good either, I would have expected them to use a more expensive amoled on this one but hell, can't have it all, I can live with it.
I bought it for the looks and I hoped more people, devs and such, would be willing to buy it. Samsung makes decent products, their software is absolute bollocks if you ask me. Like I said, I took a chance and bought a device that at the time didn't have any development going for it, and to this day it still hasn't.
I am really happy that you enjoy your Sammy device, even if to me it sounds like you have a bloated up phone due to no root. But I guess there is something for everyone. How ever I must ask you to understand that I don't look for the same as you, apparently do, from the phone. I want stock vanilla or CM on my device because I find it more soothing. My Exynos tablet finally got it and I was hoping this phone would too.. So yes, I took two chances with Samsung now. The first one ended well but I feel like this one isn't going to work out quite as well. I say these things solely because I enjoy these things in a phone. We're simply different people and you do not need to understand me or see the display the way I do, for instance.
I do not intend to squash your enjoyment of your device at all. I am really happy that you enjoy your phone. How ever when I look at the display and the software, I find it lacking for the price, and I know that CM or vanilla would at least ease me off a bit.

It is just first time, that bloated samsung crapwized phone works like it should.... At least I use most of samsung stuff... for fun mostly... Of course I have disabled mymagazine and s-voice, because they were slowing things down, but on most part it works. And cm rom is on the way and it will be nice, light and smooth as all of them just wait and see. BTW even nexus 5 is slowed by battery-draining, sometimes laggy Google services. So I would agree that good cm port is better than any stock rom. Problem with our device is custom hardware. For instance wolfson sound processing hub, exynos octa 9 (or more) core processor with 4+4+1+.... cores for everything, custom camera sensor, heart rate monitor, independent intel modem.... and so on, makes it hard for developers to work, but is awesome when they take their time. You should hear what that wolfson chip is capable of when it is de-restricted and reprogrammed to use all functions it has.
All this makes me think that this phone has received much R&D money than half of devices they have released this year together.
P.S. To be honest I usually brake stuff, but i bought this, because it was small and light, had 1 year free screen insurance, wolfson sound, OLED screen (the newest gen ALMOLED tech with diamond matrix was a bonus), durability (small samsungs are strong and it has GG4 on the screen), camera (sensor and software) and power (THAT exynos).

I do know the processor in theory should be great. But because Samsung is not releasing anything useful we can't take advantage. And I'm sorry to say this but progress is stalling like a boss on the unofficial port of CM11, which if I might add is already an older edition of CM than what is currently being dev'd by the Cyanogen boys.. Not to mention by the time it's done it's going to be even older. I appreciate the effort but it's a very slow progress, it's not the devs fault, it's Samsung's fault.
By the way, once again, I'm glad you enjoy the heart rate thingy and such but I really don't need it. I just wanted the metal chassis and the perfect size factor of this device. A some what sturdy built Samsung for once. Not too plasticky. The thing you mention about "new display technology" I don' really follow. PenTile is so freaking weird when it comes to the green subpixels. I will still hold my ground on that I can see that fitfh less green in each subpixel. I've described this as "stitching" effect earlier. The way you can see on a solid icon for instance, that the red color is not "level" all the way down, it's more of a line of sown pixels. It can be seen on white text too, it's like the edges of the text blurs into a dark background. On such a small display I'm certain that 720p would look more clear in an LCD display with protoPenTile, RGBW or an IPS display. But I'm really nitpicking the display here and like I said, when I'm at a fair distance of the display I don't notice it and I can live with it. It's just my brain is annoying me with the fact that it's THERE, lol.
Don't brake your phone this time then, that's too expensive a phone for that.

Look at the white around the reds.. It's a weird effect that I can see even when I'm holding the phone down in normal position. Sorry I know it is a big picture.

Samsung vibrant or wait for the Google G2

My Tmo phone is the G1 which i currently have. I loved the phone, rooted and everything but I have a chance to get the Vibrant. I am not sure if i should go ahead and get the Vibrant, or wait for the G2 especially after annoucning the +hspa on it. What would you guys choose if you had this choice(which some of you probably do)

Cyanogen himself is getting the G2....that will tell you everything you need to know about how dev work will go with it
Personally? I hate 3.7" screens and it's a dealbreaker for me
4's just about perfect, 4.3 would be even better but don't want the EVO or DroidX
When is the G2 supposed to come out?
I would go with the G2. Stock Android you can't go wrong!!!!

I was looking at it too, since I loved my G1, but I read that it was going to be marketed towards more mainstream users, which to me means it will be cheaper and probably have lower specs. I might be wrong and the specs aren't out yet, so I guess we'll see.
Hard decision.
I see the winner in these categories as follows...
Physical keyboard: G2
Larger screen: Vibrant
Manufacturer: G2
Physical layout: G2
Weight: Vibrant
For me, not wanting to give up my G1's keyboard was a major hangup. But honestly, Swype is so good that I have accepted no keyboard.
As far as development and support, HTC phones are unsurpassed in the Android world.
Screen size for me is the single biggest, and why I opted to get a Vibrant instead of waiting for the G2.
However, I REALLY miss the physical buttons on the G1. They beat capacitive buttons all to pieces.
Physical keyboard immediately means, I won't get it.

Agreed. Although now, in most situations, I use the Android keyboard
and the voice input. The voice recognition is actually pretty darn good.
For all intensive purposes, I only miss the physical keyboard about 3 seconds per week.

Before the Vibrant, I would have said "whatever" to the screen size diff,
but after having this screen, OMG, my G1 looks tiny.

I only miss the trackball!!!!! Trying to correct things and move around inside
text was a breeze with that thing. But, I have no issues with the Vibrant's "buttons".
i was thinking that i should sell my vibrant and try to get the g2 but after lookin at the specs it was a big step down from the vibrant.
G2 vibrant
processor: 1ghz snapdragon vs 1ghz hummingbird
screen: 3.7" OLED screen vs. 4.0" SAMOLED
there's some other features that weren't quite up to par against the vibrant. the only reasons i like the g2 is its getting the HSPA+ network and has a track ball pad thing. the only thing wrong with the vibrant right now is it doesn't have a cyanogen rom on it to make it godly.

CM6 is in the works (don't ask when) and the G2 isn't using a Snapdragon its using:
So what exactly does the MSM7230 have to offer? We initially labeled it as a budget-Snapdragon since Qualcomm’s press release said it was destined for “mainstream smartphones”, but now it looks like it will offer about the same performance as Samsung’s Hummingbird chip or TI’s OMAP3630.
Based on all the info we can gather the MSM7230 is a 45nm system-on-chip which contains a similar Scorpion CPU as the previous Snapdragon (QSD8x50) matched with an Adreno 205 GPU. The new Adreno 205 offers about 4x the graphics performance of the previous Snapdragon (Adreno 200), which is around the equivalent of a PowerVR SGX535. Support for HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps and HDMI out are other notable features.
The Adreno 205 GPU is also believed to be in the dual-core Qualcomm QSD8672, which first appeared in the HTC Glacier benchmarks that everyone went crazy over. It should offer plenty of power to run all the Gameloft HD titles, but we still expect the GPU inside Samsung’s Hummingbird is a tad faster.

Personally I'm not impressed with G2's specs at all. But I know there are many people out there who won't even consider a smartphone without a physical keyboard. I think that's what G2 is targeting at.
If physical keyboard is not a must-have for you, I don't see why you should pick G2 over Vibrant. (you won't get the HSPA+ speed most of the time)
HTC will lose here.
Over the last couple of months a few huge features have come to be standard for any respectable smartphone, and just the fact that the G2 won't have an excellent display is a big enough reason in itself that it will not sell.
It doesn't have any serious ups over the vibrant besides the HSPA+ capability (which we all know is virtually useless at the end of the day), and when you walk into a store, just comparing the displays can be a deal breaker.
They really should have included some things that the vibrant doesn't have... but they didn't.
I'm keeping my Vibrant

I completely agree. This is poor timing for the G2 to be released with the specs it currently has. With the 3rd Gen Snapdragons supporting 1200 x 800 displays I'm incredibly disappointed it will only have 800 x 480 (same as our vibrant but still not an upgrade)
Also with gingerbread expected to be released anywhere from October to December (wide range I know) why not wait and have it release as the 1st phone with the new UI? Wouldnt that really make it the 2nd generation google phone?
I was expecting more HTC, but maybe after the G2 released we will start hearing some specs on some other awesome new phone scheduled to release in late november/early december.

I was one of those people. Fortunately my wife wasn't, so I had a chance to try Swype... and I bought myself a Vibrant a few days later.
As someone who has used both phones I would say the Vibrant is still better. Both phones are extremely nice but I don't care for hardware keyboards anymore. The G2 feels just as fast as the Vibrant though since its stock 2.2. The biggest let down is the screen, I can never go back to an LCD screen after that Super AMOLED beauty.
I think at this point it comes down to whether you want the hardware keyboard or not. That is going to be the deciding factor.

I completely agree with the screen and all that. But I disagree with the hardware keyboard is the point "it comes down..." simply because the G2 is running Stock Android. If the G2 gets fast updates kind of like how the Nexus One got 2.2 so early, then that would be another factor (vs. TouchWiz). In addition, Cyanogen himself said that he was getting the G2

So people and certain devs might go towards his direction if they don't have a Nexus One themselves (or upgrading from a N1) just simply because Cyanogen would be getting one and that he would most likely be putting his #1 priority as the G2 (or Nexus One.. Note: this is my pure speculation).
The Galaxy S is definitely better on terms of hardware without a doubt. With a strong developing community to support the phone, it should pretty much fly on its own.
Edit: People have the option to go with the Epic 4G for their physical keyboard. It's still a Galaxy S phone!

More proof we're better off with our RAZR...

Granted, the writer is using an unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus, so there aren't the network issues we've all come to know & hate, he basically says the phone itself is lacking, and ICS is GREAT! Can't wait til our "premium" phone gets it!

The only real low points on the hardware was the camera, and the build quality. The camera on the RAZR is nothing to write home about.. and I've never had an issue with Samsung build quality before...it's just uses a lot of plastic.
To me the more plastic, the less quality. It's a direct relationship as far as quality 'feel' goes.
My last 2 phones were Samsung and I actually liked the plastic. It makes it light and nearly indestructible. Don't hate on a phone unless you've used it for at least a few months. And I'm tired of people saying the GN has a crappy camera because it's 5 MP. Unless you plan on making that photo a 10 foot by 10 foot you won't notice the difference. 32GB is plenty of space and I use WAY less because all my music is on Google Music (10k songs).
All I'm saying is that you'd think Google & Samsung could have put a lot more effort into the physical build of the phone. I'm sure the camera's ok, and the sensor is what's important, but 5mpx to 8mpx really does make a difference (I know because my fiancée and some family & friends constantly say they wished their phones took pics like mine did (EVO 4G, Photon and now the RAZR).
32G IS a lot of space, but the fact is that today's user expects expandable memory, and it wouldn't have been hard to include. Hell, the OG SGT has a micro sd slot, why not a brand new device?
Lastly, plastic is just plain cheap, and really makes a phone feel like something my 10mo old daughter plays with. If you use cheap materials you shouldn't charge "premium" prices.
I haven't touched or used the phone, so my opinion is based on what I've read, but I HAVE fondled my RAZR regularly (it begs for it) and in my experience, it's more top notch. I have a feeling there will be a lot of exchanges from SGN to RAZR. Just my opinion...

I would never say one camera is better than another based off megapixels...it's a meaningless bullet point spec. That said...it looks like it may simply not be that great of a camera based off the OTHER more important specs. Looks like it's the same module as seen in the Galaxy/Nexus S...which was "okay" but not nearly on the same level as the SGS II, or the newer iphones.
I would like some help,
Is the phone heat going up to 120F/49C some thing this phone can take or Is that bad.
P.S My S2 never has gone to more than 113F.

Actual space is 27.3g free, of which apps and data share this same space. As far as tunes in the cloud, MUCH better on battery life to play local on device. Not to mention if in area with weak or no coverage.
as far as camera is concerned on our devices, the sensor is fine, the problem I think has to do with the software and compression.

I think once the razr gets ICS (and stable dev support) It will give the Galaxy Nexus a strong run for the money. Kinda like how the Nexus S came out after the Galaxy S1 and the S1 was still better.
Actually I once thought that I'll get a Galaxy Nexus, but as soon as I knew that there's no 32GB version available here, I just go for the razr...

Well.. The Nexus has a higher res and probably better screen. It has a removable battery (important to me in an LTE device). It also has NFC, which could be fun with new tablets.
Not to mention it has a slightly better SoC, the 4460 vs the 4430. The 4460 has a slightly faster GPU in it...but more than likely that will help just close the gap in the resolution difference.
I don't really see how the RAZR will give it a "run for its money" for guys like us the Nexus is simply the better phone. No frickin bootlocker preventing the community from fixing the issues Moto decides to ignore months on end.
EDIT: BTW, I own a Razr...I'm not jsut trolling. It's a good phone, I just think the Nexus is a clear choice if you have an option.

Kinda feel the same way, as long as the galaxy nexus comes out before Xmas day as that's my last returnable day.

I'm feeling the same way. I love the feel of the phone but there are teo major faults that have me thinking I should return it.
The battery is dire. It's nearly out of charge and it is only six hours since it was at 100%.
The wifi reception is beyond bad. I can see six or seven networks with my three year old HTC Hero whereas I only just manage to connect to my own network.
It's a simply beautiful phone but I need it to last a full day and be able to switch to different networks as I move around.

Hi
I do agree, wi-fi is a little bit weaker on this one as on my desire before, but could connect to all my networks. Real test will happen on monday for wi-fi at the airport, as this was weak on desire also.
Regarding battery life, I really cannot complain, played with the phone on wi-fi for hours ( browsing). From my point of view the battery life is ok.

For those of us who want a solidly built, robust and quality device the RAZR stomps all over the Nexus from the inside out. I agree that the specs of the Nexus come out ahead and yes it certainly is the more "playful" device for us but that doesn't really matter when it's built like a Samsung. No offence to Samsung but this Moto feels like quality and is quality and sometimes having a stronger foundation is more beneficial in the long run.
Who else goes through the trouble of EMI protection like Moto.

Dude, research before you said that more EMI shields is a better thing. The reason they need that many is because they had to put every chip on the same side of the PCB. With chips on different side they can use the PCB ground plane as EMI shield so you would see less.

[Q] What more did you expect??

Hello guys. What were you actually expecting from Samsung Galaxy S3? Why I asked is because of reading few people's comment on it saying- "Samsung fail", "Not worth ed". Did you all expect Samsung to stuff in a super computer in a 8.6mm phone?
Now, you might say "that's MY opinion". I guess you are right.
But let's think something deep-
1) All you are asking for is 2GB RAM. Why? I could never cross 550MB in my S2.
2) 12MP? Well that might be even what I wanted. But Samsung fully concentrated on software tweeks.
3) The design is poor- I don't agree. What I agree is the build quality is cheap.
What do you guys say? I think S3 will be a hit
I was expecting )
1-ultra amoled hd 3d display
2- near 2gb ram because many games and apps is future will require more and more ram.
3-better shape design.
4-well camera has been improved even it is 8mp.
5-hd resolution ......
Others were fulfilled basically the software features are awesome but design and shape is pathetic and as for hardware nothing is new or special I believe it depends what people expected from then .....
Ok wait WORST PART#### Samsung galaxy s3 featuring exynos is bad As sense 2.1/30.3.5/4.0.+
Would never be ported As it will be impossible reason - exynos chip does not support sense we would need to remake the ui ....
I will stick to S2!!!

There should be a forth question in the poll:
"Undecided, waiting to see it up close"
I'd want full hd display with 3d;2 giga of ram and a better gpu but I gonna to by s3 anyway!I really liked the design and these upgrade is good enough for me
I was explecting multiple versions of the device.
I would have liked to see one with a full QWERTY keyboard.
I would have like to seen one with no physical buttons.
I would have also liked to have seen one with pur ICS.
I watched the entire unpacked, and all I could think was, I can't wait for me to get my hands on one and flash CM9.
The S2 has never let me down performance wise so I expect much the same from S3.
However, my only disappointment is the look of the phone. It looks so S1. Major letdown.

OP raises a good point. Question is whether our expectations were too high or too unrealistic??
Just image, if there were no high-end phones from Samsung after SGS2 (assuming Note and GNex didn't exist). If we look in this way, SGS3 is a decent upgrade from SGS2. We can't expect them to give a gigantic upgrade compared to Note/GNex when these phones are roughly 6 months old. Idea is that, compare SGS3 to SGS2 and see what you are getting extra. It's unfair comparing it to GNex.
1] Change in design -- for better or worse, that upto you to decide.

2] Better SoC -- upgraded CPU and GPU.
3] Better resolution, even if you consider the PenTile. If we talk about sub-pixels, we are looking at 60% more sub-pixels compared to RGB matrix in SGS2.
4] Better camera quality even though the resolution is same. Check comparison between SGS3 vs SGS2 camera shots here
5] Bigger battery and more storage options.
I thought they would be able to produce a RGB matrix HD SAMOLED. Clearly, there is still some technical/engineering challenges. Hopefully they will do it in Note 2.
As for 2GB RAM, I would like someone to do a test and figure how many applications running simultaneously are required to fill 1GB.

I agree with the excessiveness of a 12mp camera though. Design is in the eye of the beholder by yes plastic is cheap even Though it has it's advantages. I just hope the phone doesn't get so hot like the sgs2

my view on phones's today

i think the advantaged of buying android on apple is getting smaller
there no point of buying phone with no battery door
or no sdcard
or low mah battery
my next phone will be iphone
its should be perfect phone specs with android
or nothing
had enuf with lags of android
What is the point of this? Terrible grammar, and completely pointless....good riddance.

Personal experience speaking here, you have to jailbreak an iPhone to even have a shot at making it as customizable as a stock Android phone, and it's getting harder and harder to jailbreak every generation. And having used both, I'd rather run a stock Android device over a jailbroken iOS device.

the reason why you are lagging, if your sig is correct, you're still running a Ginger Bread rom with an outdated recovery.
If you are still on GB then i would assume you dont have the latest firmware and that i would recommend you updating to the latest ruu before jumping ship.
no the sig not correct
im not talking about my phone
my phone is gr8 just the battery life
im talking about android generally

I know you were being sarcastic, but that is a common belief. In reality, iOS does a great job on the Springboard, but for the most part, it uses a lot of visual trickery to hide the lag in other places. In particular, apps don't launch nearly as quickly as people think they do, but you don't get that impression because the OS saves a screenshot of the last state of the app when it closes, and uses that as a load screen so you think it's already loaded. 9 times out of 10, by the time you try to interact with it, it has finished loading. That one time when you beat the app and it does nothing, you write it off as a glitch and move on. I will give them props for being very clever with manipulating psychology to make things feel so smooth, because that's where most of the perception of smoothness comes from.

My view on technology as a whole is I hate it! I can't stand that I don't know how to operate it and because if that I want something that doesn't want me thinking outside the box. I like my box. I just wanted to come to xda and start a thread about that.
On a side note, I have owned an I phone 4s and while it wasn't for me I did notice lag and didn't condemn the Os or manufacturer. Learn to operate your equipment or please just go get what suits you. Don't rant about how bad something is if you have 0 clue how to go about changing it in a developer website.

Go buy an iPhone and you can do your happy dance afterwards.
I dunno I have played with some pretty nice tip of the line android phones and the Iphone5. Can say if you are quoting any Os before jellybean and any processor before the s4 then maybe you should check out some new Technology, but if your gripe is java based I don't think anyone here can help u there.
Here's a shot, I think a smartphone should have a t9 dialer. I hated that about my old I phone 4. Then I had to buy an app if I wanted to use it for more than 5calls to keep the t9. I loved the camera and the battery was good on my 4s. Ios6 looked identical to ios5. Not very refreshing. Their software is well optimized to their hardware.
I can agree with you in some respects such as I have owned all the nexus lines except the 4. IMHO the nexus should be the fastest and best of all phones. It shouldn't have half ass battery life or a half ass camera and an open Os. Its touted as flagship yet trails in every category other than being but naked aosp.

I think Google is going more for affordable and compatible with Nexus than they are top of the line. So far, they've been letting the OEM's handle the top of the line market. For them, it's a win-win. They make reference phones and tablets that show Android at its best, and they keep in good graces with the OEM's by not outshining their latest handsets. It's a valid strategy, but with the new Nexus program in place, it's one that I think they need to branch out from. They're giving the OEM's credit in the name now (Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG Nexus 4, Samsung Nexus 10, etc), so they can afford to make some high end hardware now without marginalizing the OEM's they depend on. I have disposable income, and I might be willing to pay $650 for a phone if it was true AOSP and had the specs to back up the price, but I don't have much interest in the current Nexus phone lineup, even for the price.

No please understand I am not arguing with anyone's point. Its just always been my opinion that the nexus should truly be flagship... With a t9 dialer. Excellent battery life. Camera at least on par with the sensor in the Iphone5 or one series or galaxy s line. Even if you had to rely on 3rd party editing apps. Back when HTC made the first nexus it was a solid well made very good phone and really led the pack. Now all nexus since have some for of tradeoff. Technology is booming but one thing apple has done is keep it to themselves. Apple doesn't want verizon, verizon wants apple. Not the same for android. Too many variables. I'm still holding on to the hopes of a moto nexus with a really great camera but that doesn't seem like it's gonna happen. At least moto will put a big ass battery in something, even if they won't use the greatest camera lol.
I like aosp, but just wish there was one aosp device that came in and really put it down in all the right areas. Battery life shouldn't be an issue or excuse anymore, nexus4 doesn't hardly last longer than the old one yet another manufacturer with same processor can get double the battery life. I think I'm just ranting and probably should stop lol
Google does android, they should be setting the bar that others follow but instead the bar gets set by others and they try to catch up every year since the nexus one... Again it's my opinion

Well, just to increase your excitement a little further.
I have owned just about all the flagship phones over the last 3 years. HTC one M7, 8 & 9. Galaxy note 2 & 4. Galaxy S3 & 4. Nexus 4, 5 &6. iPhone 6 & 6+. (Seriously). Alot I know.
Have never found one that i thought truely had everything. HTC's (great speakers, smooth rom, but rubbish camera. Samsung Notes and Galaxy's (Good cameras, cheap build, laggy software). Nexus devices (fast smooth OS, poor cameras and build). iPhones (stable smooth OS, good camera, locked down OS, boring).
But, the S6 edge is absolutely fantastic. The build is brilliant and beautiful, the camera is absolutely excellent and the phone is blazing fast (ignoring touchwiz redraw). I really do think that this phone is a game changer and the best device released in the last 3-4 years hands down.
So please rest assured that i think you will find that this phone is very much worth the wait. (plus there might be some custom development by the time you receive the device).
Hope you enjoy

This is great to hear. I've been worrying about choosing between this and the M9 for ages. I've had flagships forever as well, but when I saw that this one wasn't waterproof and had no expandable memory I got very sad. But looking at this and the M9 side by side, the LED display is about 999x brighter. Coming from an S5 I can't got back on a good, bright screen.
This phone is so freaking awesome...excellent build, gorgeous display and the best camera in the market (daylight and night pics)... The speakers are loud too(sound quality is decent)… Samsung set the bar really high with this one.

I did a side-by-side comparison in the store as well and to me it wasn't merely about brightness of the M9 and the S6, but the resolution really appeared to me to be much better for the S6. I'm an HTC loyalist and have been for years, but the screen and camera issues with the M9 caused me to jump ship back to Samsung, not to mention there is now a Samsung phone that has an attractive build. Fingerprint scanning and wireless charging were big plusses as well. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and decision.
I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. The only thing that isn't up to par with the Ones IMO is the speakers, and who listens to high end audio through their phone's speakers expecting greatness anyway. Heck, I never did that with my One.
Did anyone mention too that the cameras are amazing?!? LOL simply put, I reiterate everyone else's sentiments that this is the best phone I have owned to date and I've had many of the flagship devices. I also was always opposed to not being able to change the battery or expand the storage but I haven't had issues with the battery or storage yet! I know it isn't the "post your photo" section but this is one I took at night that is unedited. Best night shot on a cell phone I've ever owned.

My list isn't as robust, but I've owned and used a lot of phones, and the S6 Edge is the first time since the freaking Galaxy Nexus that I can recall being genuinely excited about a new phone and not just "oh hey that looks rad I want it." From the moment I saw the S6 Edge I had a moment of "well I'm getting that." The Nexus 6, the M9, those didn't really grip me. They're fine phones, but nothing that made me almost annoyed at the knowledge that I'd be getting ANOTHER phone.
I'm not going to call the S6 Edge perfect, but I will say that it's the closest I have EVER run across. I have my quirks with TouchWiz still, it's a bit too slippery for comfort, and TBH the whole edge thing is, as yet, a bit gimmicky. The notifications are... okay, and the clock is nice, but I don't put a lot of mileage into them.
What the S6 Edge nails is just the intangibles. I haven't just wanted to PLAY with a phone since I got the iPhone 5s. Even when I have nothing to do, when I'm sitting at my laptop, I find myself looking for excuses.

I did not go through as many phones as you but I would say a new one every 6 months and I feel the exact same way , the galaxy s6 edge is finally a smart phone with everything I want from build quality to camera .
Let's see if it can last the full 12 months lol
Do you guys think quick charge makes up for the small battery?. That's the only thing that disappoints me, the battery life
I LOVE my HTC one m8 and haven't had a Samsung since the original note, it's great to hear these comments and I can't wait to get mine! Going to be a long week whilst I'm waiting.

I know there are a number of users who are complaining about battery life but mine is ok. Averaging around 4-5h screen time. Not great but not bad. Fast charge however is excellent. It charges extremely quickly. I have also purchased a koolpad qi charger and this works brilliantly. A bigger battery would of been nice but then that means a bigger heavier phone.
My battery life has been considerably better than my HTC One M8 was (also owned an M7). Both HTC's were good phones, but the S6 Edge is *amazing* in so many departments... loving my purchase decision.
