Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included
in this ROM before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger
at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
About JazzROM-GT-N5110-KitKat [please read carefully]
First thing first; I don't consider myself an experienced ROM developer nor pretend to be one here.
This ROM based on both stock 4.4.2 and @civato 's 4.4.2 ROM (you should be already familiar with his ROMs)
It uses @civato 's KK Kernel, which I found superior to stock 4.4.2 kernel. So whatever Civato listed on KK Kernel feature applies here as well.
There are a lot of my own ported apps included in this ROM. I am not going to list them all here, I am sure you will find them out one by one when playing around with ROM.
Aside from ported apps, you will also find out many features in the ROM as well, like S5 practicle effect on lock screen, etc..
Needless to say, this includes my famous ported SPen Aircommand features too. Don't ask me to remove Spen Aircommand, if you don't want it, you are in wrong ROM thread my friend!
Because of SPen Aircommand, Chrome and Reading mode does NOT work (causes soft-reboot), so please do NOT report it as issue
since this is known bug since beginning (remember all discussing about it in Civato's ROM thread, so let's not discuss it here again!), so make sure use
Chrome Beta and turn off Reading Mode in the settings. If you think these two are too critical to you, then again this ROM is NOT for you my friend!

Be nice, be open-minded, respect others in this thread, do NOT be jerk ask nicely. If I don't answer you, don't be get offended, remember this is given as FREE and I am doing it on my spare time!

Installation instructions
Warning!: You need to follow these instruction step by step, if you do NOT, you will have problem!
1. Download and copy JazzROM-GT-N5110-KitKat-v3.1.zip to your device (preferably on internal SD)
2. Please Backup (full nandroid!) your device, in case you wanted to revert back the way it was.
3. Reboot into PhilzTouch recovery
4. Do Wipe Data/Factory Reset in PhilzTouch recovery.
5. Do Wipe Caches in PhilzTouch recovery
6. Go to Advance --> Whipe Dalvik Caches in PhilzTouch recovery
7. Flash the JazzROM-GT-N5110-KitKat, when it finishes, reboot your tablet
8. Once your tablet reboots, don't touch anything at least 15 mins, let the ROM settles down, so please wait..get a coffee or something..
8.1. After 15 mins later, now you can go thru your normal setup of your device, once initial setup is done, reboot it back into PhilzTouch recovery again, and do this two steps one more time;
8.2. Do Wipe Caches in PhilzTouch recovery
8.3. Go to Advance --> Wipe Dalvik Caches in PhilzTouch recovery, and reboot your tablet9. Once tablet reboots it back, find SuperSU and open it, if it prompts you to need to update Binary, update it.
*
Important!: Up to here (step 9), you should able to move around, check it out, do Google app updates, add your email account, Google accounts, etc..all normal setup like you do when you step
your tablet first time. Enable multiwindow, and check multiwindow side bar, etc, and make sure multiwindow works. Click on Air Command Shortcut app, and click OK when it prompts you, once you done with it, close Air Command Shortcut app and now Pull out spen, make sure SPen Aircommand window shows up and click on each options and make sure all works (action memo, scrap booker, screen write, etc). Make sure check everything here, all working as it supposed, If there's problem, start over from Step 1 again...
*
10. Open Xposed installer and go to Xposed Framework, install Xposed framework, and when it prompts you to reboot, reboot your tablet.
11. Leave Synapse App (kernel tweaks) settings all default, I found out that default settings plays nicely with @Civato's Kernel.
12. Get the moded SystemUI, please see post#2 below for instruction. V3.0 comes with moded SystemUI, if you don't like it, flash stock one on post#2
13. I hope you Enjoy the ROM,[/I]

Additional Info about xposed
I have following xposed apps installed on my device - keep in mind some are paid/donation ones, support the developers and buy it;
-Amplify (enabled)
-App Settings (enabled)
-ButteredToast (enabled)
-Flat Style Colored Bars (enabled)
-Gesture Navigation (enabled) - instead of using xblast tools, I use this one's gesture settings - double tab to sleep and long press to open Aircommand window
-Greenify (enabled)
-PerAppFonts (enabled)
-Popup Window Mod (enabled)
-Wannam Xposed (currently not enabled)
-Xblast Tools (currently not enabled)
-Xposed Fast TWLauncher (enabled)
Click to collapse
Using both Amplify and Greenify helps extend battery life. My ported TouchWiz launcher already optimized (by me) for smoothness, and having Xposed Fast TWLauncher seems like
makes it much smoother. Xposed Fast TWLauncher originally intended to Note 3 devices's SecLauncher, but it works fine here. I am currently not using Wannam Xposed nor Xblast Tools,
- I was relying on them because of gesture stuff, but since now I switched to Gesture Navigation, I disabled both of them on my device. if you want to use it, use only one of them as they may conflict each others.
Warning: Xposed stuff and apps are great way to customize and add extra feature to your device, but sometimes they causes a lot of conflict to each other and device itself, which eventually makes your
device unstable. So My personal experience and suggestion to you is always be cautious. before you go crazy with xposed stuff - always make a full-nandroid backup.
Additional Settings
I have these are set to (Settings --> Developer Options)
Window animation scale 0.5x
Transition animation scale 0.5x
Animator duration scale 0.5x
Click to collapse
You may loose some fancy animation (which is not noticeable anyway), setting them 0.5x makes the device much smoother and better performance. Of curse, this is up to you if you want
to have, I am just throwing it here just in case if you like to give a try!
Known Issues/Bugs
None of these issues mentioned here causes any instability of your device nor anything major, these issues considered as very minor, nothing showstopper
As it is mentioned above, Both Chrome and turning on Reading Mode (and using play books, or any other ebook reader) causes soft-reboot. Please use Chrome Beta from play store. There's no work around for reading mode, if this is very important for you, then you should probably using other stock base ROM(s). Because this ROM included latest ported and moded TouchWiz launcher from Galaxy Tab 4's 4.4.4 firmware, setting wallpaper lockscreen using TouchWiz launcher's settings causes launcher to FC, instead please set your lockscreen wallpaper thru Settings --> Display --> Lockscreen

Help and Troubleshooting
I have been running this ROM several weeks by now, and considering this ROM is quite stable and smooth, but as saying goes, there's no Perfect ROM, everyone uses his/her own devices quite differently, so there could be some bug(s) that I may overlooked. In addition, I had ROM testers who tested the ROM several times. If you follow install instruction carefully step by step and did clean install, you should not have any problem - all should work fine except two bugs Chrome and Reading Mode (see above for explanation).
It is very critical to read entire OP post here before posting question(s). Remember that this is provided as it is, means I am not your full time tech-support. Several people here in Note 8 community know me that I always try to help, but sometimes I don't know the answer nor have solution for your issue, so please do NOT be offended, ask here and maybe others will help you. Remember this is community driven thread, so help each other whenever possible.

How to get moded SystemUI on JazzROM?
This one is a bit tricky, but I am sure you eventually get new look of SystemUI (see screenshot) working without any issue or FCs, so be patient here;
Now, it is very important that you followed all steps outlined above first post and you checked everything (including Multiwindow sidebar, Spen Aircommand,..etc),
and you have been using your tablet at least couple hours!
Once you are confident that everything is working and no issue, copy both of these zip files to your device and go head flash this in recoveryJazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip.
- do not clear caches nor dalvik caches!, just simply reboot your tablet after flashing. Now, when your tablet reboots, it could happen two things; it is either get SystemUI stopped error or
you will get no error.
If you get t SystemUI stopped error, flash JazzROM_Note_8_Stock_SystemUI.zip to revert it back the change and reboot your tablet. Once you got stock SystemUI in place and rebooted your tablet,
what you can try is doing it manually copy systemUI.apk (from JazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip) to system\priv-app folder, give the permission 644, and reboot and check and see if you still getting error.
If no more error, you are probably good to go. It may take you couple of try, but I don't see a reason this won't work since it has been working fine on my device!
Assuming you got new SystemUI working no issue, it is very important to re-check everything again everything (including Multiwindow sidebar, Spen Aircommand,..etc),
Mod_SystemUI;
JazzROM_Note_8_Mod_SystemUI.zip
To revert it back to stock SystemUI, flash this in recovery and reboot;
JazzROM_Note_8_Stock_SystemUI.zip

LenovoLauncher HD (From Lenovo Tablet S8-50, USA)
Sometimes a simple launcher is all you need. Here I am presenting you LenovoLauncher HD. My wife likes this because it mimics iPad (she has iPad Mini),
so whenever she wants to use my Note 8 tablet, she switches to this Launcher. By the way it start to grown on me for some strange reason, maybe because of it simplicity?
Anyway, it is nice looking launcher. I have modified this launcher to fit nicely to our screen. Please note that app name under icons is small, can't able to make it bigger
even if I tried 13p font size, it still gets the default font size, but this really does not bothers me - so don't ask if I increase it or not. Second;
when this launcher is not set default, and if you uninstall an app, it give FC (but still works), so just ignore that..
This is NOT flashable zip, so in order to install, copy content of package to your tablet and install as normal apps. It includes onekey lock and mirage theme
(pulled from Lenovo Tablet S8-50). In my setup, I place the lenovo launcher in System\app folder, and i installed onekeylock and mirage theme as normal apk...

SecCalender Tablet SPen (From latest GT-N5100-4.4.4 firmware upgrade)
Maybe you don't know, Samsung just pushed 4.4.4 firmware upgrade to GT-N5100, had chance to download firmware, here extracted (deodexed) ]SecCalender Tablet SPen apps.
This is NOT flashable zip, so in order to install, copy to your device's system\app folder, before you copy two apps, make sure you delete the ones comes with JazzROM (or backup, in case you want to revert it back). Anyway, did not see huge diffrences, it seems app is a little polished that's all...but thought I should share with you and give you an options which version oc SecCalender to use..

This is NOT flashable zip, so in order to install, copy files to your device's system\app folder, - before you copy two apps, make sure you delete the ones comes with JazzROM (or just back them up, in case you want to revert it back) and give permission 644 and reboot.

SecThemeChooser for JazzROM's TouchWiz Launcher (see screenshot below)
This is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722650 originally made for Note 3 theme chooser, but it also works on JazzROM's moded TouchWiz launcher as well. Because I ported latest TouchWiz launcher from Tab 8's 4.4.4 firmware, so seems like Samsung's newest stock launcher supports theme chooser (but apprently it was disabled). Anyway, using this method will enable it. Please read install instruction in above xperiacle's thread how to install. Here I am including download link, this has some extras - several additional themes included. Have fun.

sorry guys...I don't have N5100, nor any other variant of Note 8, I have N5110 wifi...so it will be so difficult for me to build ROM for it...I don't want to say it is never going to happen, but can't promise any of you that it will happen anytime soon either...

Im really liking that Asus Zen launcher. Thanks for the port.
"Chance Favors the Prepared"

Thank you!
Trying out JazzROM. Thank you for putting it together. Very smooth. I like the updated apps. Battery life on day 1 seemed a little low, but have brought up Greenify and will see what the next few days bring. The take-away message here though is a big THANK YOU!

Battery consumption should be the same like Civato's ROM really. I am getting good battery usage, not perfect, but consider it normal (again, comparing the civato's ROM). Both Amplify xposed and Greenify helps extend battery life, in fact I am using both apps all my current devices. Let me know how your experiences with JazzROM goes..

The Amplify module made a big difference in battery life. Nice ROM!

I followed every point in your installation instructions, but multi windows is not working.. can you please help me? BTW. I miss the keyboard secondary symbols.. thank you for your hard work, it's realy a good room.

thanks for the feedback. Are you getting any error for multiwindows? or it is just simple does not shows up (multiwindow sidebar)?
About keyboard, when you say secondary symbols, what do you mean? screenshot?
I don't have issue with multiwindow, it works fine at my side...but of course, I will check it out...

Multiwindow issue & Email Exchange issue
After I got catlog from one of jazzROM testers, I dig into log, checked it out...it seems like there's some issue with SystemUI.apk - this is moded SystemUI, which makes it looks like S5's...
what strange is that I am not having issue, but again even if we all on N5110, there's could be tiny diffrences...anyway, my plan is do the new build v2.3, and stock SystemUI and Email apk, and some additional instruction how to replace SystemUI with new one (after ROM installation)..
anyway, watch out for new build v.2.3 in couple days....

First. Sorry for my bad english. The multiwindows sidebar simply does not show up no matter what i do although i repeat the installation steps two times. About the keyboard here's a screenshot taken from civato's room a month ago..

i'm probably going to stick to stock from next version (which will be full version with wipe as well), as I've found a glitch in this theme already (took me one day though... was finished yesterday) :S The stock version will be up in ~1 hour
Flott jobb, mange takk /Great work, many thanks!
Although I like the black dialler, I'd prefer one with the "stock font" numbers, if you know what I mean - could that be included with your stock version?
Takk igjen
i'll wait another hour then!
are you just releasing the theme or the entire ROM ?
cant wait!
It will be the entire ROM, like 0.1b
working on it now, then I have to test it, upload and post
A few suggestions for you. I'm not fond of the charging icon included and prefer the circle that alternates between showing the charge state (percentage) and plug icon in the center. It's a lot easier to see where you are at a glance with that one when its on charge and a little bit easier than the stock when its not. This is just me maybe but I prefer to get market apps off the market should I choose them. IMO a setup like designgears uses where you can take your choice when you first boot the rom is the way to go, lets users pick their poison. Any how looks like a good piece of work and I'm likely to flash this and give er a spin.
no novek i love your theme can you keep it plaese.
excellent!
and it seems your going to be busy, i know some people really like that theme! i.e. ^

Thanks for the tips, but LP and TB are apps I use much for testing etc. so unless there are many requests to remove them, they stay.
I'm going to put a .txt in OP for people to run in terminal on their phone to remove unwanted apps (with a selection that I use prepopulated). It's easier if people just removed what they don't want, and those who like what "stock-like" gives can get that.
The "Stock" version will still be with crt/advanced power menu/battery%, but slightly more clean...
Nice rom so far.
I have two issues though; one is that Google Maps won't update, says the package is incorrectly signed. Two is that scrolling seems to 'hitch' quite often. Having come from Lite'ning ROM which was silky smooth, it's quite noticeable.
Thanks for posting though

I use the Ti pro myself, have LP installed but have been running TW debloated for a while. Wanted to give it a fair shake. The idea was not those specific apps just a mechanism that allow users to choose their poison whether it be like design gears, a spare parts, a separate app such as pulser uses. Or what you propose, doesn't matter its the concept not the road. For myself I can fix these things before I flash or after case depending but it takes less time to skip unwanted software altogether than remove it after the fact. At any rate these were not criticisms just suggestions. I appreciate your efforts and will likely flash this after I see where my battery ens up with KF1 which I flashed yesterday.

It does for me for some reason... It's from here, maybe there's a solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007132
I'll look into the hitching... Is it just there during the first sync, or still present after the first 5 mins?
I use the Ti pro myself, have LP installed but have been running TW debloated for a while. Wanted to give it a fair shake. No criticism taken If I don't get suggestions on what to improve, there will much likely be less results too

Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (U9510E) - Update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Hello Everyone,
Below is a tutorial I have compiled and translated from bbs.anzhi.com on how to update your Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (U9510E) to the latest version of Android offered by EmotionUI, Jelly Bean 4.1.2:
First of all, I want to give credit where credit is due:
genokolar (aka G大) - Creator/Modder of the Custom Recovery for this, and many other phones coming out of China
Ry09iu (aka R大) - Creator of a Rooted ROM based on EmotionUI B534, which is based on Android 4.1.2
【LUV】 - The board moderator for the D1Quad section of bbs.anzhi, also who's ROM release I used for my phone, but it's upto you to choose which one you want to use
**IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOU TO ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH FLASHING PHONES. IN THE CHANCE THAT YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE, I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT**
**DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR FILES!!**
Now that the credits and the warning are given, let's get started:
Required Tools:
1. Recovery 6.0.1.9: This tool will open in command prompt and will allow you to flash in the Custom Recovery created by genokolar, as well as the stock recovery released by Huawei. Mirror
2(a).Official ROMs:

Step 4: ALL DONE!
Congratulations, assuming everything was done properly, and everything worked out, now you will have Android 4.1.2 on your Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL.
Images not showing up in your GooglePlay Store? YouTube not working?
Here is how our very own 12andy fixed the problem:

UPDATE: So using a clear hosts breaks the ability to connect to Facebook (via app and website). It's best to use AdAway, instead.
Nvana, it's the same process we've been using to flash the Chinese ROM(s), but with the added step of "fixing" the hosts file:
download SmartHosts from Goole Play (free)
tap on "Toggle hosts file" button
select "Clean hosts file"
And you're done! Rebooting wasn't necessary either, as the images started loading immediately.

Thank you for translating this! I do have a several question though.
1) Is it possible to edit the recovery so we can implement English into it? Maybe you can collaborate with the dev that made the recovery and ask him to make an English version of it??
2) I did a little research and I think the Chinese ascend is u9508 where ours u9510e. would there be any conflict or some features not usable?
3) I know you can change the system language but I am just wondering is there any difference in the chinese version of 4.1 vs the english version? or its just simply a language pack thing?
Wish you were in the 'GVA'
Thanks for doing this! Hope more people can test it out. I am bit too busy to play with my phone now so I'll do it in a week or so!
Keep up the good work!

Hey no problem at all,
1) I will suggest that to him, no problem, but not sure if he's willing to accept it though, but I'll try
2) The U9508 is actually the Honor 2, not the same as the D1 Quad XL. The Honor 2 was designed as a high powered budget ranged device to counter the XiaoMi M2 and the D1 Quad XL was supposed to be their flagship device. Although there is actually a Honor 2 with 2GBs of ram though lol
So to answer your question, this was made specifically for our phone the U9510E
3) Huawei has not yet released an international version of the EmotionUI for our phone, so the only way to get Jelly Bean on our phones is to run the Chinese version of the ROM. And to be honest, there aren't any major differences. For example, one difference is that the Chinese version will not have the Google apps, but we can patch it in by flashing the gapps from goo.im. I think the only difference would be that the international versions will have more language support.
Haha no problem, let me know when you do get to try it out
I've tried it many times however it did not work. The connection to the Chinese server seems to be established, unfortunately the ROM download did not start.
Got JB up and running late last night!
Please see my notes below.
ROM download:
make SURE that the ROM you download is in ZIP format; the recovery does NOT recognize 7z files (as expected)
for this reason, I downloaded version B
use Flashget to grab the file (saves a lot of time and grief in the event of network disconnections)
Flashing Custom Recovery:
the phone's drivers MUST be installed first
I think the program must be run first as well, prior to plugging the phone in (the procedure would only work once I toggled my phone from Mass Storage to Hi, and back to Mass Storage again)
Flashing GApps:
I flashed GApps right after flashing the ROM, but my phone sat at the Huawei logo even after multiple reboots
I went back into Recovery and performed a wipe, which fixed the problem
upon booting, I only had to install Gmail; Play Store was intact, and might've been included with the ROM already
ROM Impressions:
language selection was one of the first screens shown, so that part was very straightforward
don't know if it's a JB thing, but scrolling performance has improved irrespective of performance setting - smoother, with less input delay (say, scrolling up and down very quickly)
camera UI slightly changed (cleaner, perhaps?); continuously auto-focuses as you move the phone, so hitting the shutter "button" results in near instantaneous response (cool!)
more notification bar toggles - can be rearranged to a certain point
themes implementation - not really a fan of this, as I prefer the stock Android look/ feel for the most part; choice of vanilla Android is available
lock screen shortcuts can only be modified if using a theme
stock SMS client isn't vanilla Android - looks nicer, but isn't as responsive IMO
menu/ submenu background is near white - probably a bug, as white text on a near white background is just painful; probably not great for battery life either, and is not consistent with ICS+ Android colours
Dropped by the Chinese forum (yay for Chrome auto-translate!) to see if I can decipher any pending updates, but to no avail, lol. Looks like these ROM authors are also focusing on optimizations as well - happy to see that.
REALLY hoping this phone gets more popular very soon, and receives the Cyanogenmod 10 treatment.
Many thanks, Simon! Any chance you could convince the ROM authors over there to volunteer to become CM10 maintainers for our phone?

Great to see that everything worked! I hated their custom UI too, that's why I opted for HOLO Launcher HD for the stock JB feel
Supposedly Huawei will be working with genokolar to fully unlocked the bootloader and release a full custom recovery sometime this week so that should open up doors for other developers
And I don't even think they'll need any convincing, this thread here is a member of their development team releasing CM10 for the Ascend P1, so it's just a matter of time!
You're welcome

I tried to download via firefox however with using flashget as pointed out by Andy the download started immediately, for whatever reason.
I am also sure that this phone gets most popular soon because of a successfull compromise - strong battery, most compact size ( one-hand operation), 4,5" IPS+ display, quad core cpu and microSD. So keep your fingers crossed that our phone gets their own forum.
I do hope we get our own page but the thing that is stopping this phone from getting popular are
1) Hard to get your hand on one (BIG ISSUE)
2) Too late to join the quad core market (most people on S3 already and another big issue i mean who in their right mind is gonna give up s3 for this? and you can get a used S3 or BNIB for almost the same price of this phone if you try to import it...)
3) Try to ask anyone if they know what Huawei is ... most-likely they will be like `"what and where" ;p
4) This phone seems to be more appealing to the minority which are us who like to mess around and install Roms... and mess around during the day and runs out of battery (one reason why I choose GNex over many other great phone and one time i flashed 2 different Rom in one day at school because i was bored and then ending up running out of battery).
Yeah i hope their next phone would really make a dent in the market! But for now they already missed their chance to speak up and choose to forever hold their peace...
Well anyways while I am blah blah ing i just finished Downloading the Rom using Chrome, No Problem and took me less then 30 min. Well report back after i flash... which I should be studying for finals but... just cant stand the temptation you guys are posting....
Edit: Rom option 2(b)
So I got the rom to install but are faced with a few issue
1)*solved* Boot animation sound, I am ok with the boot animation but i dont like having sound... Would fast boot wolve that? or it takes the whole boot animation off? (Apparently if you turn the phone off in silent it will not make a sound when you turn it on!)
2) Play store not showing any image... I am not quite sure why... (Google it and did everything possible and still no avail...)
3) Messaging app when i type the keyboard cover the messages, like the message doesn't auto move above the keyboard and when i scroll the keyboard goes away. ** minor issue but its frustrating...
4) I just noticed I can't access YouTube from both the apps and the browser. Does this have to do with the rom?
I agree, this phone needs to be marketed much more here; bit of a dark horse, if you ask me.
Your S3 claim: I would have to slightly disagree with you on that one. Most people I know are still rockin' the iPhone and/ or Blackberry (this is a dying breed, however), but the tides are slowly changing now, as people are starting to take notice of Android. I only know three people with S3s, one person with a Note 2, and another recently obtained a Nexus 4 (had his Blackberry for awhile).
Boot animation sound:
I had my phone on silent (well, vibrate) last night, but the sound played still upon rebooting(?). Will test further.
Play Store images:
At first I thought it was my internet connection messing up, but turns out this is not the case. The first Google result pointed me to this, which indicates that using SetDNS (and choosing an appropriate DNS server - I like Google's/ OpenDNS', personally) solves the problem. I'll try this over lunch time at work.
Messaging and keyboard issue:
Swiftkey is typically one of the first apps I install, so can't comment on this.
Youtube:
Haven't tried the Youtube app/ site yet. I'm thinking this MAY tie into our DNS issue.
Further impressions:
stock browser isn't vanilla based, and isn't hardware accelerated, so it's a tad choppy (forcing 2D acceleration doesn't seem to work, either)
stock browser has a neat feature whereby if you swipe from the right bezel going left, it'll reveal the tabs; pretty intuitive in that regard, IMO
I tried the DNS level 3 and that didn't work.
One question did you set external sd to main storage? It doesn't seem to save apps on it?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
Aw boo.
And yeah, I have external SD as main. AFAIK, that setting is only for things such as pictures/ videos, and not for apps.
Apps will always default to the internal storage, which is where the App 2 SD program comes into play.
EDIT: Hmm, I wonder if LUV's version (option C, per this thread) is any better than B. Simon, have you tried this one as well?
Hmmm weird bc without setting it my pics and video already saves on external.
Can we not just flash a stock 4.1.2 and flash the radio? I'm guessing gps and camera won't work properly? I don't like the Huawei 4.1 to be honest :s I'm back to 4.0 haha just can't stand the setting menu.
By the way I'm just curious on how you guys got this phone? Through windmobo?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
Hmm, maybe the camera app itself ignores the system settings, and defaults to external SD on its own...
I don't think flashing a stock 4.1.2 would be that simple, otherwise we wouldn't need to go through these loops (via Chinese ROMs) just to obtain JB. Hence, my anxiety for a CM10 release.
I myself am pondering flashing back to stock, but the touch responsiveness of JB would be hard to let go of. Granted, it's a bit of an improvement only, but still.
Might try LUV's ROM later tonight.
And yes, I got this through Wind (on a TAB, nonetheless). I don't think this phone is available anywhere else at the moment, as far as Canada is concerned?
Sighhh I miss flashing roms I do it so much it's like I'm addicted haha. I still got my GNex to mess with.
Have anyone compiled their own rom before from free sources?
I guess we can try to learn to do that and cook up a rom for this phone that would be cool.
I'm having an issue with wify on ics I cannot connect to my school secure wifi. I had all my credential set up but it won't even attempt when I press connect.... You guys experiencing this too?
By the way have you tried the DNS to fix the market? I read somewhere that the app doesn't seem to work on jb?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
I only enjoy flashing when the ROMs bring about new, practical features, performance improvements aside. I always get a chuckle out of Apple fans who jump for joy whenever an update is released. My response? "Yeah, remember how you felt when Apple released that update? Now picture that feeling, but almost every day... welcome to Android."
I'd love to get into ROM compiling, but programming is anything but my forte. I'll leave it to the Linux-heads and the guys behind Cyanogenmod, SlimBean, etc., hehe.
Odd. My wifi worked perfectly fine on the stock ROM, connecting to my home router (WPA2 Personal).
I ran across someone that said that if you attempted to use SetDNS without root, that you could possibly hose your wifi. Considering we are rooted now, I haven't the idea as to why you can't connect to the school.
SetDNS set to Google's DNS didn't work, unfortunately. Might be a glitch between the app and the ROM itself, perhaps.
(My school uses 802.1xEAP. I know I set it correctly because my GNex connects fine.) ** solved
Yes I do rmb the days when I had the iPod touch 2g and I hated how things look soo boring and function so limited so modified the crap out of it through Cydia. They had pull down menu already many years ago in Cydia and apple didn't pick it up till recently lol.
Is Huawei working on 4.1 for global firmware? I hope they keep the stock lock screen and stock menu.
Can't wait for someone to release 4.1 AOSP!
By the way compiling shouldn't be too hard? There are many tutorial and program to auto compile I rmb I had a program like that few years ago...

Per this thread, it seems that we'll be getting JB officially very soon. Bit late IMO, but better late than never.
Bit surprised about what Telco wrote about the XL's reception though, as it's quite the contrast to what Howard found with his.
Battery life
Hi I just wondering if any of you on the 4.1 can compare the battery life with me. I think I read it somewhere that the 4.1 improves battery life significantly. Here are my results
4.0.4 ICS, Screen brightness on auto. On battery save mode most of the time
By the way anyone fixed the play store/ you tube issue?

About the reception i have to say i agreed! My GNex never looses signal completely (just down to no bar but still barely connected) but the ascend drops to no service. At school too I noticed I get drop signals in some areas that i didnt notice before. Maybe that have to do with the battery saving mode? I will try putting on performance mode to test it out in those areas.
The way you grip I do notice some drop in signal. Probably the architecture and location of the antenna

[MOD][Multi Window][I717][4.1.2 Deodexed]

DISCLAIMER: I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE OR DELETE YOUR DATA...BE SURE TO BACKUP BEFORE YOU BEGIN AS ALWAYS!
Well...without further wait i present to u the multi window mod for the I717! First & foremost...i would like to give ALL thanks to the multiwindow master himself @xperiacle because without his work none off these mods would even be possible. Second...please keep in mind that i do NOT actually own an I717 so my help may be limited but i must say that u guys have some of the most dedicated users i have ever seen so i'm sure they will be more than willing to be of assistance in case in any issues may arise. This will be provided in 2 versions one for MD1 & another for MD3 so be sure to download the proper package for your firmware...be aware that this mod will most likely remove certain features from cutom roms so if u cant do without them then u may need to wait until your favorite chef cooks up a version which includes multiwndow
YOU MUST BE USING A 4.1.2 DEODEXED TOUCHWIZED BASED ROOTED ROM TO INSTALL THIS MOD!
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install busybox if not already present on your device
2. Download an alternative launcher (i personally use apex)
3. Open your build prop and find the line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" and change it to "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" then save and reboot (this is what adds the onscreen buttons/bottom bar...MUST be done for phablet/tablet mode to work)).
4. Flash the version which matches your firmware (check "settings/about device/build number" & grab the zip that matches the last 3 digits)
5. Install the xposed framework as well as the app settings module (links below) then set "com.sec.android.app.flashbarservice" to 320 dpi then save & reboot (the edit button will not appear in other dpi settings without performing this step)
6. Open the "FLOATING MW CONTROL" and choose your desired setup
7. If u would like to add extra apps to the multiwindow launcher then download the "MULTIWINDOW APPS MANAGER" xposed module from the link below...u MUST reboot after enabling apps then open the bar, press the "edit" button at the bottom and u should see the list of available apps which need to be dragged over to the tray then press done when finished
KNOWN ISSUES
1. Padawan V4 users MUST install the zip IMMEDIATELY after flashing the rom WITHOUT rebooting to prevent sytemui force closes (alternatively if u do not want to reinstall your rom u can try wiping BOTH caches before/after flashing the mod although this may not help)
2. The icon next to the "edit" button located in the bottom bar when in phablet/tablet mode will cause will cause a force close so do not press it (it was implemented as an expanded desktop switch for N7000 but doesnt function on the I717)
As mentioned in step 6...this mod includes an app called "FLOATING MW CONTROL" (created by & used with the permission of @xperiacle) which not only does as the name suggests but even more, although users should be aware that it was not created specifically with the I717 in mind (it was designed to be used with the international N7000 instead) so there may be options which do not function properly. With that said...this app will allow u to switch from phone to tablet ui as well as from side/flashbar multiwindow mode to the bottom/traybar style and also allow u to hide the navbar as well. There is no proper documentation for the app itself although u will find that it is very intuitive and will not only tell u what step to take next to get the desire results but will also inform why u are not allowed to perform certain actions....well i hope u all enjoy your device a lil more now that it has this useful feature which samsung should have included in the first place

^MULTIWINDOW APPS MANAGER MODULE THREAD
credit/thanks to: ALL testers who helped get this thing going for u guys but i would like to extend special assistance attention to @scariola as well as @_INSPIREed for going above and beyond to work out the glitches as well as help their fellow I717 owners @xperiacle for the systemui, floating mw control app, & multiwindow apps manager module @rovo89 for xposed & @Tungstwenty for the app settings module
attention all devs: consider this my express permission (although i STRONGLY suggest getting separate permission from @xperiacle before using the included app which is entirely his work) to use this mod in building your roms with proper credit of course BUT i only ask that u actually bake it into the rom itself instead of providing an add-on zip (in that case just link your users back here) which may cause confusion and unnecessary/improperly placed posts...thx
screenshots
here u guys go...a few photos showing the different ui modes and multiwindow styles

Thanks. Wonderful job
@THEDEVIOUS1 once again bro thanks for all your work. Been good testing your work, you truly have been an amazing help for this device. And don't worry the thread will run itself. We have a bunch of people who will pitch in when needed, and when in doubt, I think I speak for myself, and @scariola saying I have no problem pitching in like always. I know you have some other devices to attend to . Good luck on them bro :good::good:

Multi Window Manager wants to patch a file and asks me which device I am running,
What device do I select when it asks me what device I am using? (Of course I717 is not there,)
The xposed module works for me, although there are apps which won't take to multi-window.

Did you follow Install Step #3?3. Flash the version which matches your firmware (due to force close issues Padawan V4 users MUST install the zip IMMEDIATELY after flashing the rom WITHOUT rebooting)
As noted in the OP this does break the ROM Customizer options in BlackSTAR BLACKJelly v2. Multiwindow works now though.
Also reporting that the Xposed MW Apps Manager works.

Look under Settings/about/ and check your build number.
I do believe it will have MD1 on the end of it. So that would be the MD1 v1 you would use.

I go through the FW settings one at a time. when I get to the hide the navbar, I hit hide. window then pops up stock or floating. instantly reboots. the navbar never appears. even after reboot.
had to charge phone a bit before playing more.

It will reboot on both. What is not happening for you? Touchwiz has no navbar since our phone has capacitance buttons so there is nothing to show or hide. Apex launcher does. That is if this app refers to the onscreen buttons as the navigational bar.
My issue is I can't find the bottom bar no matter what mode or DPI I try. I always get the sidebar.

It reboots so that setting sticks. I have noticed that whenever you change any setting in FW app it will automatically reboot to stick changes

(theme) "MISSING LINK" aka O.Z.O.P THEME BUILDER and BOOT/SHUTDOWN INSTALLER 10/15/14

(theme) "MISSING LINK" aka O.Z.O.P THEME BUILDER and BOOT/SHUTDOWN INSTALLER 10/15/14
*"THE MISSING LINK" Theme builder (see changelog)
BEFORE MODDING YOUR SYSTEM ALWAYS MAKE A FULL NANDROID BACKUP!!!!
This has been built and tested on my T-Mobile S5
O.Z.O.P. ROMOne Zip One Place
I started out theming back on my S2 and created what is now called "Missing Link"
As any themer/developer knows, these things take test, after test, after test, to get things working and looking properly !!!
The problem is, every time things get left behind and garbage files build up until the ROM isn't running just how I like.
I USED to have to wipe everything and flash the Base ROM, then flash seperate file after file, or mods and theme options to get it back to where i wanted it and this is where O.Z.O.P. is born!!!
My idea for this project is to have One Zip file in One Place with EVERYTHING you could want or need to build a new and different ROM when you feel the need for change. So this will DEFINITELY be W.I.P. and grow with more and more to come, and go if need be!!
So Here is a run down of the options given to you during the Aroma Installation
Starting with
*Backup/Restore your current settings, accounts, Bluetooth/WiFi pairings, text messages and setting with call logs, very convenient when you are a pure flashaholic like myself.
There is definitely a right way and wrong way to apply your restoration.
Don't worry that I've testing it thousands of times literally.
click for instructions on Backup/Restore Script
Right now the complete Restore Script isn't working in the same flash session as the ROM install.
follow these to reduce problems
1) In recovery run the "Backup Script"
2) Flash the ROM (of your choice)
3) in the same session run "Restore Script" and any other mods you want. This will get your account sign in finished
4) let the phone boot up and finish the "Set up Wizard"
5) now boot to recovery and run the "Restore Script" and this will finish restoring your settings options and text messages.
if you have "force close of android.process.acore" or any other force close issue

*Flashable TWRP 2.8.0.1

Instructions for installation
1-Download and place on internal SD card (either work, just quicker loading from internal card)
2-Boot to custom recovery or your choice
3-Flash the zip file of Missing Link you downloaded
4-Aroma Installer will run you through a list of option with multiple choices to choose from (if you're not sure what they are follow instructions to preview your choice while you using Aroma)
5-Reboot and you good, no wipe necessary, done
Instructions for Restoring your backup
1-You will only have a backup if you have flashed Missing Link or ROM Not Now
2-The Script creates a Flashable Backup and puts it in the NotNow folder on your internal SDcard
3-It will only keep 1 (one) copy of this file. It gets overwritten every time. So if you flash Missing Link and Then flash it again, you will no longer have the setup you started with. You will have a copy of your most recent Missing Link Theme. So if you want the "back to stock" copy, you will have to manually take a copy of the first flash from the folder and place it else where.
4-When you're ready just flash the Undo_Last_MissingLink.zip from recovery
5-Reboot and you good, no wipe necessary, done

NP. It's weird that it says that. I've seen with a few other Aroma zips from other devs too. Not sure why it says that, but the files always open with Root Explorer and they always flash fine. Let me know what you think of the mod options. Even better let's see some screenshots!! Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you
Im really looking forward to this, most other themes for the S5 have got abandoned and there is almost no nice theme around
Hey Stang, how you been?
Glad to see you got the S5. Maybe you could clone your thread over to Sprint S5 Themes and Apps as well. I'm sure the folks would like to play with this over there as well.

I'm doing much better since being dropped by Sprint for using too much" unlimited data"! I love this phone! I have been following your mod thread since before I actually had the phone in hand. So many good mods. The hard part is picking which to start with first. Unfortunately I've been having issues with my PC and decompiling correctly. I'm in need of a reformat anyways. That's a great idea about sharing this over to the sprint people. A few small adjustments and should work fine with Sprint version. Good to hear from you and keep up the good work. Thank you
This is very handy. I have a couple of suggestions that might help to get more people check this out quicker. Perhaps a quick tutorial in the initial post about how to use aroma? I only know how to use this through recovery. Is there another way? Also I think that maybe a pure dark theme would get people's attention fairly quickly. How are you able to theme pkm files with aroma? I didn't think that was possible. All in all, very cool. Thanks for the work that you you have put in. I'm looking forward to additional options.

Also I am not themeing the pkm images with Aroma, not Theming pkm files at all. I was surprised when I discovered them and disappointed when I found the difficulty in even viewing them. Hopefully soon I will get that part figured out. You can expect a whole level then!!

Not enough info to help?? what options did you pick?
What ROM are you using?
What recovery are you flashing with?
Did you download to your phone or pc?
Where does it "hang"? Does it say "zipalign in progress", "optimizing system"? If so this part takes a little while especially if you picked every option. If it takes more than say 2 minutes, then something is wrong.
I would check md5, if that's good I would make sure it's on the internal sdcard. It works on extsdcard just much slower.
I have not experienced this problem personally, but every phone is different so let me know so we can get you going.
thanks for the input

It shouldn't take longer than 10 seconds, at most!!
This could be a Safe Strap compatibility issue than I'm unaware of? Have you flashed and other Aroma mod installers? If so which one with a link please? I would like to figure this out!!! Any info to a solution would be appreciated. You might want to try the updated v2 from the OP. Just released now. Let me know if maybe that one works?

[UNMAINTAINED][ROM ALL-IN-ONE] [KK_4.4.4] [D58XX] Heavily debloated - extras

[UNMAINTAINED]
This is for both locked/unlocked. Being 100% stock it is not going to unlock your BL, mess up your DRM/keys etc!
As even in the LP time some people asked me about debloating KK (and I'm using it right now and actually seems i like it more than LP too) hereby I present you my new all-in-one solution for Z3C, this time based on KK 4.4.4, consisting in one heavily debloated full rom including some extras for both D5803 and D5833, based on 23.0.1.A.5.77 FW.
NOTES
1. as in my first debloating solution for all xperia phones, all the bloat/replaced stuff is not really deleted but moved to a Backup folder in system (/system/__Backup) so you can restore anything you want very easily (sony keyboard, sony launcher, system apps etc)
2. that's the reason you can see /system partition still almost full in spite of my high debloat, but stuff moved to the backup folder is "silent", so for sure it is not affecting the system at all and it is like it is not installed: I use this approach for people who needs to restore something, this way restoring is very very easy and fast. By the way, deleting the whole Backup folder (or moving it to your sdcard) you will then see something like 1.1 gb extra free space in /system!! (see screenshots below )

Requirements:
- Working recovery installed
Instructions:
1. full backup
2. full wipe (system, data, cache and dalvik) ***
3. flash either AIO for D5803 or AIO for D5833 (md5sums) [V2!!]
4. reboot/enjoy
*** NOTES ABOUT FULL WIPE vs DIRTY FLASH
You can also avoid wiping /data to keep all your data untouched but if YOU DO NOT WIPE DATA:
1. all apps I updated directly in /system may conflict someway with copies you may have stored in /data and you could get FC, especially Play Store/Services (btw in case any conflicts will appear it is pretty easy to fix them if you know how to clean things up yourself, for example clearing data of the conflicting apps installed in /data, and then uninstalling them via settings > downloaded apps)
2. my debloating solution won't be be 100% effective: the personal apps I included that are going to be installed in /data (xposed installer APK, Gravity Box, Xperia Xposed and Blurred UI xposed modules, Z3+ Live Wallpaper and latest Sony Album and Music) WON'T be installed but just placed in /system/etc/product/applications with no effects (so in this case you can either keep them there, won't hurt, or delete them if you don't want them, while if you want them installed you can just click on them to start the installation)
3. all the apps installed by sony FW in /data (kobo books, navigator, social life, psp app, avg etc etc) won't be automatically removed (you will have to go to settings > download apps to uninstall them manually)
4. you may get some FC due to missing overlays at boot: in this case, just enter in TWRP, mount system, go to advanced > file manager and move back the whole "overlay" folder from /system/__Backup/various/vendor_overlay to /system/vendor and reboot
I repeat the above will happen only if you DO NOT WIPE DATA, with clean flash instead everything will be as supposed: for sure no conflicts at all, all apps installed, xposed, modules, full debloat etc everything up and running and working OOB!
What you'll obtain doing the above:
- KK 4.4.4 23.0.1.A.5.77 FW (customized Belgium for D5803, Brazil for D5833)
- pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.46 and Dual Recovery 2.8.21

SCREENSHOTS!!
Coming...
Hope you like it! If so, just please press THANKS!
Removed stuff:
With my solution you are going to get rid of more than 170 packages (unfortunately not also all the libs like it happen in LP because of how are placed apps in system in KK) plus all applications automatically installed by Sony, overlays etc...
As said at the beginning, stuff is not going to be really deleted, but moved in /system/__Backup folder. This way you can restore things very easily.
At the following link you will find the full list of all stuff I moved away:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Gof3mcFSWxP4cONuoLXPQkGE6Xnfn9tsg899rLN3ALY/edit#gid=0
PS. the file is with read-only access for everyone, if you have any changes to suggest, please reply in the thread or send me a PM with the changes you propose
Sorry, the link was not public, now you should be able to correctly see the list!
HOW TO RESTORE SOMETHING
PS. of course I also removed from my FW all the stuff that can be easily downloaded from the Play Store (Gmail, etc)
In the hidden field below you will find the restoring instructions you need to follow to restore any package you may want back:
According to what you want to restore, you have to follow two different procedures:
- all the APKs that are inside /system/__Backup/various/etc_custom_apps and /system/__Backup/various/etc_prod_apps are regular APKs that are going to be installed in /data, so you can just run them and then select "install" like a normal APK, easy. You will then see them in Settings > applications > downloaded
- instead, all the things in /system/__Backup/system_app and /system/__Backup/system_priv-app folders can't be normally installed, but must be restored in the correct /system folders with correct permissions. To do this, see the step-by-step instructions below (in the following example, I am going to restore Chrome app in /system/app and Velvet (Google Search) in /system/priv-app, but of course you can restore how many things as you want at the same time)
Code:
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_app and MOVE both "Chrome.apk" and "Chrome.odex" files to /system/app
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_priv-app and MOVE both "Velvet.apk" and "Velvet.odex" files to /system/priv-app
- reboot
- done
PS. don't copy but MOVE things back, or permissions will get messed up and you are likely to end up in a bootloop!
PPS. still, if you mess up something copying stuff to /system, and you get a bootloop, remember you can just enter in TWRP, mount system, and then with advanced > file manager you can delete what you have just copied to /system, this way your phone will boot up properly again

Awesome man! Waiting on your feedback and your full ROM, because if the battery is much better on KK, I'll jump back to that version.
Used this last night.. its pretty cool man thanks!

after some time on KK i can confirm that at least for me it seems i get much better battery life with KK. lately in LP i could barely get to 5 hours SOT and had to charge the phone almost daily, while now here on KK during my full second battery cycle for example i got to two full days, and more than 7 hours SOT (see attachments). almost same usage as in LP i would say. it may be a case, will see later on if these stats are confirmed. if so i think I'll keep KK here
other differences i noticed so far: much better "looking" battery stats from settings in KK (i don't like new confusing graphs in LP) and most important in kk i don't have anymore the so annoying bug showing wifi on in stats even when it was surely off... can't really stand that bug in LP! finally, at last in KK i have again screen as top battery sucker, while in LP i used to have android os, Google services and/or others...
in general as said KK seems less buggy than LP here. also, i find better brightness management in KK (it seems i never need to change the brightness slider even under direct sunlight, as i used to do in LP, and no problems at all while waking up the phone, bugged instead in LP)
other thing, i much prefer the recents management in KK (after reboot don't see the many recent apps i had active before shutting down for example)
other pretty important things, in kk no spacing problems at all with icons in status bar (can't stand this bug too in LP, hate it!), no stagefright bug to worry about (i think? don't bother me too much that bug though), and probably no data connection problems as some are having in LP (didn't have them in LP here either though)
less important things: in KK i don't feel the need to change DPI settings, everything is good as it is (can't stay in LP instead if i don't change DPI first, thing are just too big by default there!), and i find KK nicer in some things (quick tiles/notification panel for example) and uglier in others (KK contacts and dialer are just terrible for example.. does anyone know of a nice alternative dialer/dialer mod? [emoji14] )
last but not least, i find KK faster somewhere (apps list in settings for example), but slower in others (clock app while switching tabs, contacts in phone app)
very last thing KK lockscreen is less customizable, but using snaplock now which is very very nice and has all i need!
all considered, for now I'm gonna stay with KK
bye!
EDIT: here I'm on locked BL, all stock. just using greenify and stamina mode
EDIT2: also, kk is so much faster than lp in booting.. just wow! Also first boot after clean flashing is much faster!

You list some pretty compelling reasons to return to KK
Also not so impressed with LP and my main reason for using LP was the problem with the R/W to the SD card in KK - but believe that has been solved now....?
Keep up the great work and looking forward to trying your KK rom when done.
PS: Maybe you should change your signature to: Z3C WAS running my (LP)..... but NOW running my (KK).
That way you get to advertise for both of your great ROMs

Excellent breakdown thank you! Are you going to have it all in one available soon for us to just flash with ease? Or how can I do it today in simple terms?

you can already do it pretty simply following instructions in OP. several steps are needed right now though.
btw next week will surely provide a "single file solution"
How about stagefright, is that patched? That's mainly the reason why I moved to 5.1.1.

I think it is not patched.
is kk affected too by that security bug? if so, and if there is a fix for kk as well, will include it in the full rom next week

You can read here that almost all the devices and versions of android are vulnerable. I am not sure how and where to get patch for kitkat though. There are some patched libs here on xda but the question is will they work on z3c.
Is the camera fix included to open pictures taken with the cam in quickpic?

no. unfortunately the guy who made that mod did it for LP only ;( we tried to ask to make it available for kk too or let us how to do that ourselves in his thread but so far he didn't reply
ok, other question. is it possible to include the "2g-only" and "3g-only" modes? i had this in another 5.1.1 rom an it was pretty useful in areas where the 3g-network is weak to force the device to stay in it and not to switch to 2g....

i have that already available in the rom using xposed and xperia xposed module by serajr, both included in my extra zip
thanks a lot!
Slowly im reverting back to Kitkat, too. Lollipop is just not so good as KK. I cant get rid of "uncompleted experiment" feeling of LP. KK feels more consistent, completed and actually more snappier. Thanks for your debloating solution for KK, too. Works flawlessly.
Actually im getting very tired of Google's progress on Android, and im sniffing around iOS and WP. Ill hope that Google will make some significant steps to improve overall experience. LP is failure in my eyes. Especially notification area is absolutely horrible.
Changing profile's signature tomorrow to give you more credit for you good work.

You can block calls to the stagefright player in Build.prop, this doesn't fix the libs tho.
Change those lines in Build.prop.
media.stagefright.enable-player=false
media.stagefright.enable-http=false
media.stagefright.enable-aac=false
media.stagefright.enable-qcp=false
media.stagefright.enable-fma2dp=false
media.stagefright.enable-scan=false
OP updated with all in one files for both d5803 and d5833
if someone try them, please report if everything works fine thank you!
