[Q] Is my GS4 bricked, or recoverable - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I experienced spontaneous reboots, & I use Safestrap 3.65 & I noticed that SS was missing in the Stock slot. I'm rooted & running HyperDrive 10.2 & Android OS 4.2.2 - or was....
I d/l'ed SS3.65 & to be sure I used the app to remove the recovery & then reinstalled the recovery on the Stock side & rebooted & recreated slot 1 w/HyperDrive 10.2 via a nand backup.
However, I kept getting spontaneous reboots, so I tried to do a full factory reset on the Stock side & when I tried to reboot the only thing that shows is the "Custom" warning & it doesn't move from there.... I have to remove the battery to turn off the phone.
I did some homework & looking back at it, I shouldn't have done the full factory reset before removing the recovery...
I do NOT have nor do I know ADB, but I need to get back my S4 if possible, I would greatly appreciate any help.
I am in New York City, so if there are any locals that can help, but need to look at it; I can get around to the 5 boros.....
Thanks very much in advance, Oldwolf

If you know what your original build was you could use Odin to get back to stock.

Riker, tnx so much for ur tip! I was on MI1, can I just Odin that?, or do I need the version that was 'native' to the phone.
Also, I need input on how to get into the mode needed for Odin to work- I forgot the button-press sequence… also, please tell me where to find the required driversto get my new PC (Win7) to 'see' the S4.
Unfortunately, most of my hacking b4 has been on the Moto platform; so I'm still 'Green' w/the Sammy stuff…
Thanks again! oldwolf

You should be able to recover easily. It's not a hard brick by all means.
First, follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259 and donwload the MI1 odin file. It should come as a zip but you unzip it and then you get a .tar file.
Then, download odin 3.09. A simple google will give a link.
Then, put phone in download mode. From a power off state, hold home button+volume down+power button. To get it powered off, you may have to pull battery and reinsert. Plug in usb cable into cpu and phone.
Then in odin, leave everything the same, click AP, choose the mi1 tar file.
Run odin
Done! :good::good:

Richard, thanks so much for your clear steps. What about rooting once I get MI1 up & running? It feels funny; in the Moto world I wouldn't have to ask… but so far in the Sammy world I've only rooted & Odin'ed once a long while back…
Also, what about taking an OTA update?, from what I've seen, it is not a good idea b/c of tougher security fm Sammy- but I heard there is an NC5 image that is rootable & you can even roll back… anybody have any ideas?
I'm also considering a diff ROM, but suggestions would be welcome- I've been spending a lot of time on my PC…
thanks in advance to all, Oldwolf

To All, never mind about the re-rooting question. I didn't know the link in the prev answer provided guidance for this.
I really appreciate getting timely responses & people being willing to help me get into the Sammy side of hacking…
Custom ROM suggestions?
What is the feel about taking the OTA update once I have MI1 Stock - it seems that there are more updates for HyperDrive available for 4.3 or 4.4x, or even Lollipop- but t_ere were reports of probs w/diff things, Wifi I believe & now that VZW has enticed me to give up unlimited data (for a sweethevrt deal on unlimited talk & text) I can't afford yo be w/out wifi…

My personal, non-richard, suggestion would be to odin to nc5, towelroot, get safestrap 3.75, then download either eclipse, hyperdrive or a safestrap compatible google play edition rom. This is because nc5 is simply a newer version and MI1 doesn't give you any special tweaks that nc5 doesn't have.
there are many threads around these forums discussing each step of the process that I've listed. Try searching for them first. I like to simply type in google " towelroot s4 xda" for example. If you can't find a thread that helps, i'll be happy to assist you.
p.s. I'm not richard.

Raymond, er, um, uh?!
Sorry about calling you that other name.... guess I was distracted... you know, w/my S4 sitting corrupted on the table & all.... & it looks like I gotta get more sleep.....
I noted in the thread you mentioned SafeStrap 3.75 & Towel Root, & a SS-compatible Google Play Edition Rom.... mine is a retail VZW S4, I'm guessing if you mentioned it that it'd be OK. BTW, I thought that Eclipse is no longer being developed for the S4... just older versions made for earlier versions of the Android OS.... via updates fm Eclipse's author...
Also, do you know any issues related to Hyperdrive for NC5? I'd given up on updating b/c I heard about wifi issues & I must have wifi....
Also, can you go directly fm a soft-bricked MI1 to NC5 just thru Odin, or are there intermediate steps. I ask b/c I've seen postings in my email box w/forum updates - even if I haven't been involved in the forums... & someone posted a non-data-wiping image to go to NC5, but you had to be on M2 first....
Another point- I saw in a referred thread that being stuck on the Sammy logo means data corruption & it seems that I'd need a ready-for-Odin wiping image; do you have anything on that?
Anyway, thanks for the search tips, I haven't been good at internet searching, I guess that I will have those skills improved also...
Thanks again for the non-Richard help, Raymond- Oldwolf

Don't sweat the Richard thing! Haha, I'm just fooling around. But I still don't know where you got Richard from.
~Eclipse works very well for nc5 even though the last update was in June. Its still a perfectly good rom.
~If you set up everything correctly, Hyperdrive will work fine for you. No bugs for me.
~As long you can get to download mode, you're set for odin. You can always odin to a official new version, just not a older one.

Raymond, I'm on my old Razr = small scrn; but I'll be sure to give you official forum props for all of your help when I get back to my PC.
I do like HyperDrive, but once upon time I saw that some of the versions in earlier teens had probs w/wifi & that's crucial to me… I also missed screen rotation since HD 10.2 for viewing pix & reading text/books but it was stable… & I have to admit I was a little worried
about having to go back & forth recovering fm Sammy hacking errors as its still new to me… if I were rich I wouldn't care, but I have to update my PC as well as other expenses, so spending a lot on phones is not on my horizon.
I suppose your help will crank things up a notch for me, there's nothing like experience w/a more experienced person pointing you in the right direction.
Which version are of HD are you on?
Which version of safestrap is needed for NC5? If I can find an official image to flash, I may want to go directly there, but I vlso heard that newer OTAs fm Sammy are harder if not impossible to root & I like root too!
BTW, your demeanor & willingness to help twigged me to the fact that you weren't all that upset at the slip w/your name, & I actually got a laugh out of how you reacted.
All the best, Oldwolf

Raymond,
Great news! Success on the first try.... I did have some minor blips, but all seems to be working. I tested first via wifi & then contacted VZW to re-attach my service back to my S4 & so far so good.
BTW, since I had a nand backup of MI1, I just restored that version via Odin b/c I wasn't sure if a nand made on an older version of the Android OS would work on a newer version of the OS & I needed to be back up & running quickly.
Of course, if using a nand backup made on MI1 can be restored to a device running NC5... I now feel comfortable about going ahead based on this experience you helped me to gain & I would just Odin NC5 & restore fm my old MI1-based nand b/u set -
I also anticipate that there might be a problem if the nand backup was made on SafeStrap 3.65 & one wanted to restore it on a device running SS 3.75....
One of the blips was that after running the tar.md5 for DeLaVega root, the last 2 items of that driver installation failed; but root worked & so far so good.
I am very excited to be back on the S4, & you can know that much more than the forum thanks I put on your post here, I am appreciative.
All the best, Oldwolf

[Q] unroot for OTA???

I've rooted my GT 10.1 but I have two questions that I can't find the answer.
1. Has anyone discovered how to unroot back to stock?
2. If rooted, will I be able to get the OTA of touchwiz by checking for updates under settings?
PS I flashed the TouchWiz UX found in this forum. Got to say it is really nice and I can't wait to get the version from Sammy. I then restored a backup using Rom Manager and restored fine except when checking for software updates. It used to say no update available, but today it says failed to connect to servers. Anyone else getting this error?
I guess that is actually 3 questions.
Thanks
1. Unrooting is pretty simple. Just flash the 3.1 OTA in the dev forum, after doing a full wipe. If you feel the need to go back to full stock, you'll also want to nvflash back to the original retail recovery, which you undoubtedly saved when you first rooted.
2. No one knows yet, but rest assured, within a day (less probably) of the update being released, it'll be available here as a rooted flashable ROM. If you learn one thing from your time on XDA, it should be "never accept an OTA update." Let the devs pull it apart and repackage it in a nice root-safe download.
Undoubtedly! (I wish) I wasn't planning to root but while playing with Odin, I thought I was locked at the downloading screen while testing odin. (Didn't hold down the power button long enough to shut off tab) I thought my only solution was to continue and root. No problems rooting, it was easy. I just wanted to make sure I get the TouchWiz update. Now I learned my lesson I will never do an OTA update.
Glad you told me that, otherwise I probably would have screwed up my GT. I don't know how I missed the post about backing up the stock image first. I try to read a lot of posts (heck I even use the search box) before trying something new. Anyway, I'm sure it is posted in the forums somewhere if I need to find it.
Thanks!

It's not so much that you'll screw up your device by accepting an OTA, but rather that you might lose root and/or your custom recovery (perhaps permanently). Nevertheless, there are some cases of OTAs screwing up devices when accepted over non-stock installs, so IMHO its always best to wait for a flashable ROM.

Yes, I believe the stock retail recovery is posted in the CWM recovery download package here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574. You'll note that Step 3 is where you were advised to backup your original stock recovery, although the step is (correctly) noted as optional. No big deal, in any event. Glad I could help.

[Q] Can't believe I'm that guy...

My Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model # SCH-I545) is stuck at an error screen with a yellow triangle in the middle and a picture of a phone on the left and a picture of a computer on the right. It also reads: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I JUST purchased this phone and the latest update was installed. I attempted to root the phone but after researching I found there is no current solution. I searched more and found a thread (that i can't post because I am a noob): I followed the instructions hoping to remove the update and return to stock, however the process did not work and Odin failed. Even though Odin was through, my phone still showed a line like it was downloading. I tried everything to reboot my phone, but could not find a way to do it, so I pulled the battery. Now, I cannot get past this screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this awesome blunder?
P.S. I am prepared for the scoldings I plan on getting...
I literally just posted the same question. Any help would be appreciated if you can figure it out. Ill return the favor if i can get any information :good:
If you took the latest update I'm not sure what the answer is because I haven't been willing to take the update.
If you were in mdk before the yellow triangle then all you have to do is Odin the mdk kernel.
I'd imagine if you are on the latest then odining the latest would take care of it also but again, I won't take the latest so I can't say for sure

If the phone was running ME7 then you can ONLY flash ME7 again (at least right now).
Grab the image from this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357235
and flash it using Odin.
Thank You
That worked great! I am back up in running and waiting patiently w/ the rest of us that updated... THANK YOU!!!!!! :highfive:
Thanks
I can't thank you enough. The S4 is my first Android phone and after 3 weeks, the USB connection on the phone broke and I finally got my new one today. While I was setting up SuperSU/Titanium Backup/ROM Manager, I guess the phone downloaded the ME7 update in the background and I told it to install (stupid me). This will teach me from rushing to get my phone back to the state it was in. (Not that I can do that now because I need SuperSU before I can install ROM Manager). Hopefully once I can get ROM Manager back, I can restore my MDK backup with all my custom settings and apps. I think I will make a visit to the VZ store tomorrow and see if they can revert back to the MDK version. I will make up some lame excuse of why I don't want to be on this new release.
This leads to my question of, is there a way to disable or remove the apk file that controls the software updates?
Thanks again for saving my life!!!
Once you take me7 update theres no going back unless you get a different phone. When someone gets the me7 ota rooted you can rename/remove sdm.apk and itll keep your phone from downloading new updates. I would say freeze as well but some users reported their phones updating even with it froze. When the me7 bootloader/recovery situation gets resolved there wont be much reason to go back to mdk anyway since people will start creating roms with it as the base.

Thanks for the information about the sdm.apk. When I debloated my phone I used the adb shell to remove most of the *.apk packages that I did not want. This was of course after I took a full Titanium Backup and ROM Backup.
Sounds good and I will not waste my time going to Verizon today.
You make a really good point about not going back to the mdk, but rather move forward with the technology and updates. This leads me to some more questions once I have root again:
1. Is my mdk rom backup totally useless at this point?
2. If yes to 1, since my mdk rom contained all my apps/customized settings, do I have to manually download everything and reconfigure?
3. If no to 2, how would I go about getting the app/customized settings back, Titanium Backup?
4. If yes to 2, if I go about downloading everything manually and configuring, will the new root remove all these settings?
I am sure I will have more questions so thanks in advanced
PS: I think I figured out what caused my USB port to stop working. I take my phone with me when I run so I think some sweat got in from my arm band and corroded the connections. I tried cleaning them with rubbing alcohol and compressed air, but still no dice. If connected to a computer or wall charger, it will charge, but a computer will not detected it. So my guess is there is damage to the board allowing whatever communication is needed to work with a computer.

A wee bit a help, puh puh please...

Ok, so I'm under the impression that there is no possible way at all to get on a custom ROM with mj7 rooted with vroot crap trap as there is no way to flash a custom recovery... And there osnt anyway to go backwards with the firmware.(bologna).. Odins out with fladhing new kernel? or odin repart-wipe flash a complete rooted W/ CWM with stock mj7 firmware? I'm new to the S4 but had the great grand daddy the original galaxy S for years and mastered that.. I just need a lil clarification with this Safe Strap (if that is indeed a possibility). Also I definitely want to gey this vroot off my phone and use the saferoot™ way.... Any help, or maybe a point in the right direction would be awesome... this is depressing that my s1 was cooler than my s4... Hey Samsung can I atleast get a reach around.... jajaha Thanks in advance to any and all that can help a NooB out...

I indeed do, links to files, would be awesome.. I've rooted flashed and tweaked many a phone.. this one here has been a pain right in the arse. I'm very capable, I debloated and de-odexed this phone but didn't trip the knox counter, it the route to the files, and the tutorials.. believe me I've spent two days reading the dev section and all ive seen is the bootlader is locked so to push custom recovery via odin wont twerk.... I used to brick my S1 for fun and recover it.. couldn't kill the thing.. my understanding is sufficient... any thread you could point me to or link me up, and I'm set.... Need a Galaxy Rescue Squad..... Thanks again for your help man

the easiest thing to do is probably do a full wipe Odin process so you can start over.
I made a guide to take phone from ME7 to MJ7....saferoot, safestrap and hyperdrive intall. Some adjustments to guide would have to be made as now SS3.71 is out and HD12 is out but the process is the same. Links are there or easily found.
as always, not for the faint of heart.. I suggest downloading all files to PC and verifying the MD5 checksum. So many people try to direct download to phone which is problematic in itself and many don't check the MD5. I have never had issues because of bad files or downloads because I'll take the time to download to PC and check it before copying over to phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579278
couple things, don't try to restore apps thru Tibu...clean install from playstore. I have had limited success with restoring "data only" from Tibu...Also have an extsd card, this is a must as you really need to keep data located on that and redirect data to it....like pics, movies, photos and that is where you would keep your flash files for the HD12 ROM, kernel modules and where Safestrap would place the backup as well as directing Titanium Backup to keep its back up files there too.
good luck

Upgrade from 4.4.2 NK1 (Rooted)

Well. I've been reading as much as possible, and although my requirements are here/there, putting together and nailing down my specific needs have got me quite stuck.
My Current System:
Verizon (On Straight Talk) SCH-I545 , Android: 4.4.2
Build: VRUFNK1
Rooted , SafeStrap Installed (Also, running XPosed Framework, quite a bit of bloat and Verizon apps removed).
I want to upgrade to Stock Lollipop (Rooted). I have researched to my limits and my problem is primarily my loss of understanding of the various Builds and requirements. This is my only phone and I just want to assure to be quite sure before proceeding.
I do understand the answer to this is here, it just seems that it is somewhat fragmented and I can't seem to nail down the specifics I need to make it happen.
It seems that FlashFire and this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-update-to-i545oc1-5-0-1-keeproot-t3096558
(I just realized that the ROM files here for use in Flashfire are now broken URL's), not sure where to find the proper files?
Do the trick? Flash the I545_OC1_Stock_Rooted_ROM_wNK4_BL Rom using FlashFire. (This link is now broken? New file location?) If I read correctly, it will take to the required NK4, from my NK1.....and put me right to Lollipop.....Done.
I've only ever used ODIN, so FlashFire is new to me. Just a few quick questions that I KNOW have really caused problems in the past, and just want to make sure I'll be ok:
1. Will the removal of tons of the Verizon Bloatware be an issue, or does it need to be wiped back to close to stock (Anything removed was on the XDA list of "Ok to remove KitKat files"
2. Should I Remove XPosed for the flash and put it back later if desired.
Am I missing anything? To be honest, it seems quite simple. I've flashed several phones and this almost seems too easy (A compliment).
Just a confirmation would be great. I think I've done the homework, but would really like some feedback before I pull the trigger.
I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP......THANKS.....
Here is a link to sign up as a tester of flashfire which once you are approved will allow you to download the application from this link as well.

I will upload the file to my server and send you the link shortly.

An answer to your questions:
1. Any system apps you removed should not have an effect because the ROM which you are flashing has the basic Verizon bloatware pre-insatlled. You will have to delete them again after installing a new rom unless it is debloated/deodexed.
2. If I were you I would remove XPosed just to be safe as it may leave something behind which could cause problems. But you shouldn't have an issue if you leave it in before flashing.
Be very careful to follow the directions in FlashFire word for word, if you skip or miss any steps it could result in a soft-brick.
THANKS for the reply. Also, thank you for the ROM link. I read in much of the original flashing comments there were several WI-FI issues. Has that been repaired in this version of the ROM?
I did get FlashFire. There seems to be several versions of that floating around, just hopefully the latest should be fine.
I did have 1 other question. I believe I also read that after the flash, Safestrap will no longer work? Is this true? Should SafeStrap be removed prior to this process? (Although if something goes wrong, I like having that there to hopefully get back?). Is the latest version of SS compatible? Will it just fail to even come up if the flash is successful?
I've flashed many times, over the past years, but am no expert. I guess I'll ask, although I clearly understand the concept of soft-brick....In this particular case, any insight of what 'Could' happen and maybe what I could have prepared to fix? Shouldn't be an issue I would hope.
BOTTOM-LINE QUESTIONS:
1. Can you please verify this ROM def. has the WiFi issues worked out?
2. Status of SafeStrap after Flash?
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE REPLY!
Any other thoughts, etc...greatly appreciated. (I see quite a few posts of people wanting to go BACK to 4.4.2 (where I am now) that gets me thinking also...lol...hmmm?
ALL the best and thanks again....

I am unable to verify if the wifi issues are fixed or not, but you could just flash it anyway and then restore from a backup in odin. Safestrap will probably need to be reinstalled as you will flash recoveries when you do the update in flashfire.
The people who post about going back to 4.4.2 are not on NK4 but on OC1 which does not allow reverting to 4.4.2. NK4 could use the nc5flasher to then revert to 4.4.2 or even something like Hyperdrive.
Thank you. I'm pretty sure that I read in one of the original threads that the WiFi issues had been worked out. I'm just wanting to make sure this particular version of the ROM is the corrected one. You mentioned if it is broken, restore from a backup in ODIN, your referring to the original KitKat ROM.
I was a bit confused. I thought that this also took it all the way to OC1, which is why I was questioning SafeStrap? Could you please clarify when you mentioned flashing recoveries when the update is done in FlashFire?
So, this particular update takes it to NK4, with Lollipop....not OC1 ? I was def. a bit confused there.
Really appreciate the info. Just want to make sure I have it all in a row before I pull the trigger. According to all I've read and what you've posted, I think that I wouldn't have much issue. I'm just nervous about the WiFi. Guess, I'll need to track down the proper file/s to flash in ODIN if there is a problem.
If you happen to run across anything about this ROM and the WiFi, would appreciate the info. Just no rev numbers on the file, so bit of guessing I assume.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO........Little more research and I should be ready to roll....THANKS....

This rom will put on 5.0.1 Lollipop but with the nk4 bootloader, not OC1. NK4 has safestrap capabilities. And yes i did mean restore to a stock nk4 rom if you had issues (via odin of course)
Sorry....Had a last thought. In the original procedure I read, it discusses flashing another file enabling tethering. I believe (?) that was after flashing the OC1 file, which I'm convinced your right about staying on NK4. Any idea about that? When I mentioned problems with WiFi, I think that was part of the issue, which they now worked out. Not sure if it's viable on the NK4 though?
Thanks again for all the help/advice with this. Just REALLY trying to make sure I understand it A-Z before I move.....THANKS.....
(Just went and checked, yep the tether flash is for the OC1, from what else I've read though, your right about the best move being to stay on the KK BL'er.)...

[SM-G360P] [ODIN] Official Samsung Firmware G360PVPU2APJ2

Hey guys I was able to take the time slooooowly download Stock firmware for our Prevail. Practically no support to this phone at all, but I've been working to change that as best I can. I am learning the ropes of ROM building and I have been able to make use of ASSSAYED Kitchen v.110 (Now upgraded to v1.20).
For those of you who don't know:
Odin tutorial
**DO AN ADVANCED WIPE IN TWRP BEFORE FLASHING. EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE EXTERNAL SD CARD**
Download Samsung USB Drivers (Go to this xda thread here).
Download Odin (Get it here) Extract to Desktop (Or wherever)
Download firmware to desktop (It's in .zip format and you can find it here). Extract .zip file to odin folder (again, or wherever). Extraction should yield G360PVPU2APJ2_G360PSPT2APJ2_G360PVPU2APJ2_HOME.tar
Right click Odin 3.10.6 and click on "run as administrator".
Click on AP and find the extracted ROM. Open it and it will take a minute to load in to Odin...Now make sure the 'Auto Reboot and F. reset time options are ticked and nothing else.
Make sure to be using a quality USB cord. Odin will recognize your phone being plugged in. It will say COM port number in the top left hand corner and added or removed will be in the log window. Once you are ready begin the flash press start.
Relax, It will take about 10 minutes to do it's thing. After the long agonizing initial boot process, you will be back to stock firmware PJ2 for SM-G360P
Hope it helps! So far there is no lollipop for our phone. Click here to check out all my uploads for this device. So far I have a TWRP port that actually works. (Must flash through Odin) an a Stock rooted deodexed busyboxed zipaligned rom of this firmware (Thanks to ASSAYYED Kitchen).
OLDER VERSIONS
OH1 Firmware
I flashed this back to my device in attempt to go stock but system status is still set to Custom just so everyone is aware. Not sure if it could be an error on my part.
just wanted to say thanks i have 2 of these phones 1 use for mp3 player/ play phone and the other my daughter has to use. ive tried a ton of twrps for this and everyone broke recovery. im dl ing the twrp and the rom you posted. ya there is no development on this phone at all. ive tried almost every rom i could to get it to lollipop with no luck. im going to try to get the theme store and the launcher swapped out with an updated version.. n5 s7 any is fine i just want to get it updated lol. ill play with it tonight and let you know how it goes. i appreciate the effort your putting in to this. i dont even have service to them i have a stubborn s7 that refuses to get rooted. i had no prob with the note7 but idk if i have some updated version of s7 but i cannot obtain full root. i need to have my audio mods at least. i have a good one with beats, dolby atomos and viper im going to try on the 360 as well. let me know if you would like the file. after i check if it works on this on that is.

Thread updated to PJ2 firmware. I can confirm this will make your device status 'Official'.
Thank you!
I just wanted to say:
Thank you so much mate! An amazing job here, I had a broken rom on this device, and thanks to your PJ2 build; I now have a fully working device again!
Fixed the play store, play services, and all the ads and junk on this Textfree branded device (PE2 firmware confirmed). keep up the great work!
Thanks for posting this! I see your other files, would you mind going in more detail how to install the stock rooted deodexed version of this rom? How do you recommend unlocking the bootloader to install TWRP or can we just simply flash it with ODIN then install the stock rooted rom? Thanks!
EDIT: according to this forum looks like you just flash it. Do you recommend your 2.87 over the 3.02?

EDIT 2: NVM found your other thread and looks like 2.87 is the way to go.

Awesome, thanks for keeping support alive for this phone!
I'd really like a custom rom for this phone i have to restart at least once a day or this ROM becomes unusably slow.. I mean atleast CM11
Hello. I'm Dave. I just got this phone (G360P Prevail LTE) and I'm pretty excited about it because it could sure use some stuff and I'm new to development and ROM porting. My goal is to bring great ROMs to the lower end phones that are sometimes forgotten in development. Right now I only have one good port under my belt, but it's a great one...PAC 5.1.1 for the ZTE Zmax Z970. Unfortunately, I used device and kernel trees that were already put together by another developer, so I'm not completely sure how to get started on putting trees together for this one. At least it's a Samsung, so mistakes will not be deadly, hopefully lol. There's a lot I don't know and this will be a hell of a learning experience. If anyone could fill me in on which devices that have some development going are most similar to this one, it would be a big help. I flashed the TWRP for the G360T1 before I found @adrwill2000's stuff since it has the same processor and specs and I'm sure you all know how that worked out...I guess I'll start by grabbing stuff for the device that our TWRP was ported from, unless you guys have any better suggestions. It would be best to start with trees from a very similar device. I almost hate to post this because it's very possible I will get nowhere, but I could sure use input from you guys that know this device well as to what my best starting point might be. Thank you.
I'm back to running H1 for now because it seems to be our latest that xposed is working on and imo this KitKat stuff sure needs some Gravitybox. Also, on mine, in J2, when I hit reboot it would reboot recovery. I was gonna fix it, but it's working in H1.
Scratch that...I found the Xposed updated for new 4.4s, so I'm on the deodexed, zipaligned j2 now. Thanks for all you've done with this, @adrwill2000...
It worked for me. My phone was bricked and I could not even get it to hard reset. Thank you!
