You are out of luck I'm afraid. This OEM never releases the kernel source for the device and with that and other needed files for it there is no development at all. This is why no developer ever gets this device.

Its Very Bad to hear..
but i saw faw days ago this: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/meizu-mx4-...ected-feature-ubuntu-touch-hit-europe-1476642
That will May be a good news for feature development for the MX 4 ..
Because The Flyme is an Heavy ROM With Tons of bugs and it supports kinda bad english , still the Store There is in Chinese..
Do you think if i will contact With the Original Development forum in meizu's forum may help to Release The Kernel Source? , Maybe the Ubuntu Development Will Release The kernel?

I wouldn't count on it. As a China based company they are not held to the GPL laws.
As for Ubuntu touch it will be the same thing. Ubuntu touch is almost completely a dead development project on every device so far. Not alot of interest in it.
You can hope but they have been the same for as long as they have been putting out devices and China doesn't require then to follow copyright or gpl laws.

MIUI goes open source

If you’re into Android rooting and modding, chances are you will have heard about the popular replacement ROM known as ‘MIUI.’ In-case you haven’t, MIUI is a ROM by Xiaomi, a Chinese tech company, and is based in Android Gingerbread v2.3.7. Unlike your typical version of Android, this ROM provides you with the awesomeness of Android amazingly combined with the great look and feel of iOS, providing a unique user experience.
Now, for the first time, MIUI has gone open-source and can be found on GitHub. These are a couple of MIUI applications and the ROM. That’s not all, expect more source to be revealed in the near future.
This ROM was originally designed in Chinese, and was not intended to be translated or be available for people in the other parts of the world, so a big advantage of it being open sourced is that the modding community will take it upon themselves to translate it and also make it available for many new devices, like the hundreds that CyanogenMod supports, which is at present the most popular ROM available for android yet.
Now that its open source, we’re probably going to see some crazy mods and what not.

what does this means to us SGA users?
Why spamming ?O.0
MIUI was ported to sony xperia x8 which has a armv6 processor, so I think that the SGA developers can exploit the source code and port MIUI to our devices.

[Q] Porting Ubuntu Touch to Galaxy S3 GT-I9300

Hello mates, glad to see you in this thread, thanks for watching and helping.
***Searching for developers***
First of all I want to say that my english language is not very well, because I'm learning it now and it is not my native language.
OK, let's get it started. Few days ago I saw an Ubuntu Touch UI and I loved it. If you love it too, you can help me and all the "lovers" of Ubuntu Touch. In this thread I will collect all information, files and sources about Ubuntu Touch.
For now I have got some links and info about porting Ubuntu Touch to the other devices such as our SGS3 international. I know that there is an Ubuntu Touch version for Verizon Galaxy S3. So now we have a chance to get it to our device. I was reading our forum for more info about Ubuntu Touch versions for other devices. I know that there are a lot of threads with questions like "How do you think, will it be possible to port Ubuntu Touch to our GT-I9300?" or "Can someone port Ubuntu Touch for our GT-I9300?", but this thread is not just a words or requests, I really have some info and files for porting Ubuntu Touch to our GT-I9300, here they are:
– Official Ubuntu web site about porting Ubuntu Touch to other devices - there are a lot of information about porting and also there are some files, programs and documents.
– Here is the Ubuntu Touch version for Verizon SGS3 - I think someone will have a profit from learning their package. BUT DON'T FLASH IT TO OUR INTERNATIONAL GALAXY S3 or you will get a bricked device.
– Some info about porting CM - may be someone will need it.
– Home page of Ubuntu Touch - here you can find the Developer Preview.
You need the following things on your SGS3 to flash Ubuntu Touch:
– CyanogenMod 10.1
– Ubuntu Quantal (I'm sorry, don't know, what is it)
So I don't really good at programming and I want you to make a port for our device, I can be a beta-tester, also I can help with something more, if project will be started, port will be made and work stable, I will pay some money to the developer of this port.
Let's try it? :highfive:

I don't know how to develop for Android. ):
But if someone can teach me, I will learn.

My answer to this is:
It has really no sense to port Ubuntu touch to the I9300 as long as there isnt a proper CM10.1 Port.
CM10/10.1 is the main condition to make a smooth ubuntu touch possible.
Exynos Sources are the main condition for a good, stable and fluid CM10/10.1 (which we still haven't got from samsung )
So better try to contact samsung, flood them with requests for exynos sources and if you get them, not the crap around on internet and github, give it to the developers like codeworkx from CM and you'll see a progress.
Otherwise you can forget a fluid ubuntu touch.

It's for Verizon Galaxy S3, read the first post carefully.
Sorry for my bad English, I study it at this time.
Sent from my Galaxy S3. OF.
There is a version that works here. But it's with many bugs and lot's of things that just doesn't work. It would be nice if someone complete working cm for gt-i9300

Learn Android

Hello all, I am new to XDA forums. Previously I only used to visit XDA for custom ROM for galaxy y and its trouble shooting. Now after flashing so many ROMs I have a good idea about how to flash any ROM. But I wanted to learn how to port an OS. How do people port Cyanogen mod onto various phones? I know its source code is freely available, but how to fine tune it to work for a particular device. ? How to learn the basics of creating a custom ROM and how to build one? Also how to develop Android Apps and port any OS on android-suited hardware architecture (like Qualcomm SoCs).. Sorry if I misinterpreted and told any technical terms here.! I am a Computer Science student in first year engineering! I know C++, Visual basic and HTML

Cyanogenmod ROM mipad 2

Does anyone know if a cyanogenmod rom for mipad 2 is available?

Dear Developers and Hackers of XDA,
I just bought this tablet. I looked around on the MIUI forum for MI Pad 2 and see that there are ways to root a developer MIUI ROM for this tablet. I also see that there are also instructions to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery. I am big fan of Cyanogemod and am hoping to have it on the tablet. Has anybody tried and/succeeded to port Cyanogenmod to this tablet?
Hoping for the best
Sincerely
dspati
Hi dEvasEnApati I'm in your situation! I hope to recive news as soon as possible because i want to install cyano!
Xda dev have you got some news?
Hi,
Following the instructions from the miui forum I managed to unlock the bootloader, root , install TWRP and AOSP rom. I was wondering what are the requirements to have a cyanogen mod for it? Are there CMs for devices with intel x86_64 hardware?
I'll get my mipad 2 soon! I think in a week or two then I'll Start heavy development on it ? i think of aosp is possible cm will be possible too :] I'll keep u guys updated
Hi Nailyouh,
Thank you very much for doing this!
Maybe this may help: As paul_ro21 mentioned, a working AOSP rom, which was most probably developed by Xiaomi is available on the miui forums. I have it on my mi pad 2 as well and it's working fine. I am looking forward to a CM rom for this tablet and I will be happy to help with testing!
Sincerely
dspati

Waiting for your work on CM
Im too tired with stupid MIUI on this awesome tablet :
Stupid ram management, it has 2gb ram but it cannot run multi-tasking !
Im facing a big Problem i was not aware about..the Kernel of the MiPad2 is not open source so we are pretty f**ed by xiaomi. In fact the Kernel source has to be released but xiaomi don't care about Copyright infringements. I regret the decision buying this Tab. I like the Dualboot thingy and the aosp Rom runs smooth as butter but without the source we'll stuck on 5.1.1. really sad if you ask me, the Tablet is really beautyful and I love the outstanding Display. I'll try to figure around with the kernel from the aosp Rom next week I'll keep u informend and will make a thread if I suceed.
Cheers

Is it possible to port a custom rom from RN3 SD to MTK?

Dear xda community,
I just made my account so I can ask the question written above (and join your community :fingers-crossed. I don't ask for instructions, guides etc. I just want to know if it's possible and if so, how hard is it?
There was a guy who always ported the MIUI official global developer SD roms to the MTK phones. It worked pretty well, though I'm not a great fan of MIUI's design & bloatware. Long story short: he did it in a very short period of time.
There are many Android 5 (6 at best) custom roms out there, though we have Android 7 (offical resurrection remix OS) for the SD device. MTK and Snapdragon share the latest MIUI/Android version (7.11.23), so maybe copy/paste files is possible until a certain limit?
Thanks for your answers and best regards (and sorry if I'm not seeing any obvious mistake, I'm just learning C++ at the moment and that's all )

Actually No... SD and MTK are 2 different architectures and the kernel having the apis implementated wont be common... But it would be little simpler if porting rom also shares the same archecture... So u need to browse similar roms which are in same architecture....
Also to port across different OS versions, you need kernel source to provide respective drivers.... Hope it helps
