[Q] [HELP] Creating Android Custom Rom Upgrade. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please i need help.
After following a tutorial here on how to create a custom, i did every thing possible to create it and i got it running. I edited the build.prop and change the android level to 4.2.2 and flashed the rom into my phone, so i decided to install android version 4.0 and later apps and games only to find out i get "error parsing package" and thats my only problem.
What did i do wrong? am i missing something or what? please i need help on it.
Thanks in advanced.

There are differences in package structure, minimum SDK version, API's and others factors that are preventing the package form being installed, just to clarify I assume you are trying to install Android 4.0+ apk's on an Android 2.3 or below device.

Did you compile the ROM form source or just port another ROM? Which version of Android did you use to compile with or as a base to port your ROM? Simply changing the build.prop information Android version doesn't change the version of Android your ROM is based on.

I apologize for the delay in responding if you compiled it form 2.3.6 source then that's what it will be based on you would have to compile it form 4.2.2 source if that's the version of Android you want your device to run on.

If you want to properly compile Android 4.2.2 I would recommend taking a look at this guide on compiling Jelly Bean from source. If there is something else you need me to explain please let me know.

Your issue is that just changing the number in the build prop will not give android 4.2.2. This is something cheap knock devices due to fool people. You will have to compile a rom from source. If there is any for that device but as 2.3 was never officially released I'm betting you won't find any kernel source updated for the device.

As much as you hoped that this screenshot would get you results, this screenshot literally tells us nothing about the device other then the fact it's running 4.2.2. A developer wouldn't even know where to begin with the very little information you provided.
So,what info i should put?

[PROJECT] Custom ROM for the SM-G360V

I'm currently working on a long-term project to get a custom stock ROM (if that makes sense) for the Galaxy Core Prime G360V. My goal is to make it exactly the same as the stock ROM, except minus all the bloat and possibly with root/SuperSU baked in. My first step in this project is complete; I have successfully extracted the root>system folder of the phone. You can download it from the link if you would like to assist me in this project. I'm still relatively a noob, so I will need some help with this. Any tips or assistance would be appreciated. Some info about the ROM I'm using:
Model no: SM-G360V
Android version: 5.1.1
Baseband version: G360VVRU3BOK2
Build number: LMY48B.G360VVRU3BOK2
Heavily inspired by Psilocelium: [url]https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core-prime/how-to/sm-s820l-freshly-built-rom-core-prime-t3516067[/URL]
Download link (PM me if dead):
https://www.mediafire.com/?cuwxch6xch255kq
UPDATE (5/21/2017): Academics have been really busy lately, but I should have time to finish the ROM this summer. I've upgraded to the Moto G5 Plus but will still be around to help with this device. Thanks for the support, and you all will know when the ROM is ready.
Leave a thanks if this helped anyone. And if you can offer any help to my little project please PM me. Thanks!

Hey[emoji14]
Thanks you for sharing what you are doing. If you want some help, I can help you. If you want th build a custom Rom based on samsung stock rom, you'll need 2 computers with Linux and Windows or a dual boot (Linux to edit system image and windows to use ODIN, but you can also use linux to flash .tar, but for me its really complicated ^^ )

Thank you for this. I unfortunately do not own a G360F. If I did, I'd probably be using the CM13 ROM for it but thanks for your interest in the project.

I meant to say that if I had the F version, I would be using the CM13 ROM for it. You're right, there are no custom Roms whatsoever for this phone (g360v)

Yeah, same with the G360V. After I mod this stock ROM, I'm going to build cm13 or 12.1 for it
OP update, check it out.
Sorry for inactivity.
I recently lost my Core Prime and as a result cannot develop right now. But I plan on doing something a bit more radical.. making a real custom ROM, like Lineage.
If any of you can, I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to grab one of the ROMs for other variants: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...m-lineageos-14-1-samsung-galaxy-core-t3586184
Edit the updater-script (with Notepad++) to include "coreprimeltevzw" and flash it with FlashFire. Let me know of the results if you do it. As soon as I find my own I will be trying it myself. Thanks all.

Instructions:
* Flash in TWRP

Worked flawlessly. Flashed with TWRP and rebooted and system loaded up fine. There was a few minor lags as it booted into the system past the MetroPCS logo but that was probably due to the changes made by the zip but after that the system was more fluid than it previously was even after having soo many apps installed. Great work. This is one step closer to completing a custom rom like CM13 or Lineage OS. Good luck with more development.

There is no need to flash WebOS Doctor or WebOS to the HP Touchpad to install any version of Android.
It is 2020 and a lot has change and improve to flash any Android ROM just by flashing a file that will make the HP Touchpad a 100% Android Device.

The tptoolbox_v42 can only be use to flash specific Android ROM and Recovery.
The tptoolbox_v42 is a very limited and old process that does not work.
If the user wants to convert or use the Tablet as an Android device only, there is no need to use the tptoolbox_v42.
