[D855] [Modem] [V20h] Flashable Zip! For every ROM! - G3 Android Development

Hey guys!
I've downloaded a V20h ROM, extracted some parts of it and put it in a flashable ZIP! There are two variants: The Full Package and the Light Package. I recommend the full one, but it is your choise. If you only want the modem, then take the light one.
All images are from LG source! No image has been edited in any way!
Contends
Full Package
Modem.img
rpm.img
tz.img
Light Package
Modem.img
The modem controls mobile data, wifi, bluetooth, etc.
RPM stands for Resource Power Management and, like the name saids, controls power to your modem.
TZ stands for Trust Zone. Read about it here
Compatibility
As far as I know EVERY ROM which is based on Android Lollipop (5.0+)
Only for D855
Why should I flash?
Because the radio was updated by LG in V20h and I think updates are always a good thing.
Responsibility
I am not responsible for any damage to your device. You do everything at your own risk. Do backups. Always.
Installation
Do a Modem Backup with this modified TWRP version.
If you don't want to download the modified Version:
Open a terminal emulator/ use in adb shell: Execute the folowing:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm of=/sdcard/rpm.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tz of=/sdcard/tz.img
exit
You will find three images on your /sdcard/ folder. Save them good if anything goes wrong.
Download ZIP and copy to your sdcard
Flash ZIP in recovery
Reboot and enjoy!

I doubt Trusted Zone and Resource Power Manager images have much to do with the baseband functionality. Modem only should suffice.
That said, I doubt there's much harm flashing them.

@AndroidPaul
Hi.
Just reporting that I downloaded the Light Package and I find it very good.
For some time and using different Roms, I was having real trouble with booting and having no service.
I was going mental with it.
I tried other v20f and v20h but no good results...I flashed this light one and it all stopped.
If someone please knows if this problem is related to the modem or is this a know issue with the daily changes in CM 12? I am on RR v5.3.4 and with this modem all is sweet.
I am just curious to know the base of this problem which it seems affects others also.
By the way I always clean flash.
Thanks.

Now it's time to raise as always annoying question - which one is better ? Any observation so far ?
I'm on H - no issues, just sometimes after reboot (quite rarely, but still) I got no signal and have to reboot again (but it could be rom/Kernel related maybe as well). LTE speed and signal is fine and without problems.

I don't have this device, but you may test it yourself. Make nandroid backup, clean flash & report me back! It doesn't flash any firmware images (kernel, modem, ... etc); so, it's safe to test on other devices. If you've any issues, you can restore your backup.
DPI Affect
Heard mention that the DPI change affects the quick circle case display......is this true, or would it affect this? If it does change, what can be done post flashing to regain quick circle proper display?
Thanks for the work, btw!!!

Yes this Rom is for the Verizon VS985 variant but he just stated that it does not flash a kernel, modem, or recovery of any sort. So the worst thing that may happen is your device bootloops or you just may not have data, working WiFi or Bluetooth, or some other minor issue. It is relatively safe to flash on other devices to try so long as you have a Nandroid backup of a working or stock ROM.

Unpredictable, it may work perfect or with issues related to hardware drivers: mainly Mobile Data, WiFi, bluetooth, ... etc. It could be fixed though with a converter replacements (port).

add ons
Do you think you will be adding volume enhancements soon?
Loving the Rom. Just needs themes and home back up and restore enabled
Saw that you would be pushing 1.0.1 update for tether. Will this just be an update zip or will it require a full rom flash?
USB Debugging Doesn't Stick After Reboot
I attempted to get USB Debugging to stick after rebooting by adding this line to build.prop:
persist.service.adb.enable=1
I reset the permissions to rw-r-r after editing build.prop before I rebooted. No luck, still not remaining enabled after a reboot.

I hope you can get Aroma working later on. The only downside is the size of the rom for download. The only bloat I find useful on this phone is multi window, knock on, and the clipboard. I hope to see some kind of volume enhancement as well.

Sure, at some point a new release of JasmineROM will include all requested features
Oh also the Verizon variants messaging app doesn't allow you to choose vibe pattern if there's a way you could enable that it would be awesome.

I've got the itch to do a bit of themeing. Do you guys use the G3 TweaksBox themes? Im considering building for that since it is cross ROM compatible.
It will be a black/grey/orange theme using the Numix Cinnamon theme as inspiration.
Would there be an issue if I change the DPI to the original value.
I don't like the one with the ROM, and I can't get used to it.
What would be the best way to go about it?

Most apps/themes should work with this ROM since it's deodexed, except carrier-related apps: messaging, *telephony*, ... etc. I'll make my own themes & a list of compatible themes later.

[GUIDE] Helper zips to switch between OOS 3.0 and OOS 2.2.1 firmware

At the moment we have rather dfficult situation because custom ROMs based on AOSP (such as my AD which is not yet public) require previous OOS LP firmware, while OOS 3.0 includes new MM firmware which breaks both older recoveries and custom ROMs.
As I need to switch between OOS 3.0 and my AD quite frequently, I created two helpful flashable zips so I can do that easily, and because it's useful for me, perhaps it'll be useful for you too.
Download: MM | LP
Instructions:
- Download the firmware you want (or both, if you want easy switching)
- Unpack downloaded zip, you'll find firmware-update.zip and recovery.img inside
- Put both of those files on your phone, in appropriately named directory such as "firmware-LP" or "firmware-MM"
- When you will need to do a switch, simply firstly flash firmware-update.zip, then flash recovery.img as recovery image via "flash image" option in TWRP
- Reboot to load new firmware
That's it, this way you firstly flash chosen firmware version, and then TWRP recovery that works with it.
So if you have two TWRP backups - one of OOS 3.0 and one of CM13.0, make sure that you have proper firmware (and recovery) after restoring backup - LP for CM13.0, and MM for OOS 3.0.
Situation should soon improve (when OnePlus pushes kernel sources, and MM-based ROMs will rebase), but until then it's wise to keep both of those firmware + recovery combos on your sd card, so you can do a switch without any problem on as-needed basis.
Hope it helps. Try to be careful with those, if you mix up wrong recovery with wrong firmware you'll need to flash proper recovery.img variant via fastboot. You can't hard brick anything by using those files, in worst case soft-brick if both your recovery and your ROM will be for wrong firmware you have.
Have fun.

ok so i will explain you when you download that file you have to unzip it and then you will have a folder with another folder (if you choosed unzip in archidreoid etc.zip so inside that folder you will have the necesary files (view the attached screenshot) you will have to pack them in a zip file
hope it helps but try to download the latest file to do that cause last time i tried the oneplus2 archidroid there were things that dint work such as ad filter

Ok it's kinda promising. But there is a "broken" kernel. Is there any way to make it look like stock android kernel? I know it's stupid but maybe there are builds or kernels that are based on stock Google one or something. And wanna know if there are any bugs.
Sorry for asking too much, I would test but I'm tired of doing that right now and I need my device for my daily basis, so I have no time for testing...
Oh, and yeah, is that "baseband unknown" thing normal?

Hello and thanks for trying.. So it eventually booted? Supesu can cause those kind of reboots while it sets up. . The cm was was made for Tmobile and international.. You could try to make sure apn is right and change your data connection. Like from 4g to 3g. Sometimes that triggers it. And what modem are you using?
not sure what modem I'm using. Can you point me to one that may fix the issue? also I downloaded the rom you mentioned in the op and it booted with no reboots with your kernel. Reboots happen when I use a cm rom from the sprint side

Then it would probably be due to the sprint CyanogenMod. I can't tell you how stable they are as I have an SM-N920I.. But if you tried the other Cm. Do you get data?

Try checking your apns and that they are correct. And changing.. If that doesn't work.. It might because of sprint device. Fingers crossed.

Hello guys! After a few months I decided to look into building a CyanogenMod Kernel for our beloved Note 5.
It is very much a work in progress and any issues should be reported here, please make any backup efs back ups, and nandroids
Link to download cm13 by rainbow dash. Please download this first and then download this kernel... As that is what I am using as my daily driver and if you have random reboots there are ways to fix that. Just report what is making you reboot and I will help you as much as I can. It is still a very beta build!

Camera doesn't work.
Some apps don't work unless you personally remove it's libs and stop them from generating. (eg chomp sms on message send)

Credits @Konsstantine34 @Rainbow_Dash @UpInTheAir (a huge mentor and alot of respect) @A Close friend. @RaymanFX for his first build of cm13 for our device.
[UPDATE!] Due to unforeseen things. I must upload it as a boot.img download it and flash it via twrp and make sure to be able to view Img. Update will soon follow with a proper zip. Please make a backup and report back, any issues. Camera still does not work! Report back with any other issues! Or reboots.

How can I flash your boot file. When I click install twrp doesn't see the .IMG extension.

In install menu select install image(right side) then select img then tick boot and swipe to install. When installing zips select install zip back again
Or install an app called flashify and select that img as kernel and flash

No AOSP builds/ROMs on 7.0?

Hey guys, I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm wondering if anyone else has compiled a flashable Aosp or near-aosp build of android 7.0? I'm currently on PureNexus, and I'm looking for a very minimal ROM as it's the only way to reduce the lag on this low memory device we all know and love (hate?). Thanks!

I'm 100% with you on this. Minimum is best. I was wondering where the homecooked 7.0s are too.
Way too soon for a stable aosp build.
You'll probably see a flashable, pre-rooted stock rom appear first. Often these are tweaked, debloated etc so can be quite minimal.
Experimental aosp builds will likely emerge soon too but if you're the type to moan about roms not appearing fast enough and the low memory of a device you bought then you likely won't like bugs either. Maybe wait for a bit.
I wanna post mine - but GApps FC (some location provider error) and I am looking for a fix. This commit didn't fix it and I thought it might!
https://github.com/bshiznit/platform_frameworks_base/commit/4f18c68e03b996dab5df4d586db9c9af5647445a
Anyway - if there is interest (and it looks like there is) I might post as WIP this evening...

Thanks but get same result --> I have attached another twrp recovery.log at bottom. It shows whats happening w/ su flash. I think LOL.
I had stock rooted but now am trying to get my aosp build up and running w/ no luck rooting. I am going to start over clean w/ fastboot stock w/o root and then try installing aosp rom and rooting.
I am also having the problem w/ twrp unhooking sometimes --- d**n N9 is very finicky!!!
Thanks for the help.

You can also just try flashing the stock boot.img
And then flash SuperSU

Ok finally got some time to play ---- fastboot is my friend LOL!!!
I used fastboot to wipe and start over w/ a clean tab -----> Only way I get root with my rom at current build is using twrp ---> flash my rom w/ stock boot image, flash supersu sr1 2.78 ---> bootup got root. That's all I can find that works. @USBhost Do you have an N k that allows root??? Do you have any idea what is going on with this??? BTW --- Trying to install as system install causes bootloop for me. So the only option I have at the moment is supply stock boot image and systemless root and w/ the rom. PITA
