$12 Wireless Charging through an Otterbox Defender!!! - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share my experience here. I've got my note 3 covered and protected with an otterbox defender as well as a Glass pro screen protector. I found a wireless charging kit that seems to charge fairly quick with the defender on! I averaged 20% per hour with the screen set to always on ( lowest brightness). I should also note that I am running tweaked 3.5. Below is the link to the eBay seller I got mine from. Want to know the best part? It was only $12 USD!!!!! I can't speak for the brand as far as longevity goes as I only had it for a few days.... but it does seem to work. I haven't tested to see if I lost NFC though. Nothing to really test it with but please let us know if you try it ! Also, the cover gets a tad warm but it says 93.7 degrees ( again with screen on ) when checking with battery spy.

Hope that helps some fellow note users out

Thanks for the review. I just purchased the same thing today and was hoping it would work. Cant wait to try it out.

Sadly this doesn't ship to Australia... ;-;

I've been contemplating getting one of those. The issue I have is that I use an Mountek nGroove Snap 2 car cd mount and I have to have a thin metal plate inside the case for it to stick. I wonder if it would interfere with it?

you got lucky. i got the same charger. and mine was defective didnt work. thats only a single coil. i ended up ordering a nice 3 coil for 25 and works amazingly. i wouldnt buy that style again if my life depended on it. seller said would resend had already been almost 2 months. i ended up filing via paypal and fought for my money back. i have pics of that one fully disassembled its a single coil. this is what i got and works perfect http://www.ebay.com/itm/321554421626?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I got that specific card cause the 3 post on the side some only have 2 what I found is that 3rd enabled sleep and charger to turn off and on when full. Been using 3 weeks with that combo works amazing. I don't even have to have centered. I just toss on dock upside down sideways doesn't matter charges it. It will actually charge a full 1/4 to 1/8 of charger not even on it charges just when close. And it's a 3 coil. I wasted so much time on first one. This combo was perfect

The one I listed came with the reciever as well as the charging pad. I have since ordered another for my wife's S5 in an otterbox defender and no issues with that one as well ( from the same seller ). I'm inclined to say the single charging coil units work well. As far as the metal plate goes, I haven't tested it. I did disassemble the reciever and it looks easy to mod into a mount though. Might that be an option Chillout2010? Kaos , it sounds like you had bad luck on the first you ordered....was it from this same seller ?

FYI, if you take apart the charging pad, this is what you are left with. There are only 2 screws and double sided foam tape holding everything together. You could punch 2 holes in your metal mount, and resolder the coils to the inside of the phone mount relatively effortlessly I'd think Chillout2010.

Possible. But ordered took over a month to come. Then said resend. Waited another month. Never got anything. I figured I went cheap got burned. Got lucky got my cash back. Then added to it keeping old reciever from the package deal. That works. And got the stand. Which is 3 coils instead of the one. No issues at all works amazingly.
The other one stayed red and green never worked.

I'm guessing it's a different seller then. I'm on the east coast ( maryland ) and had mine in 4 days counting the weekend. I ordered from a US seller in New Jersey ........ the key is to order from a somewhat local seller. I order from eBay too much lol. My post carrier must hate me [emoji14]
The seller I linked is reputable and stateside. No issues thus far. I bookmarked their shop and will definitely order again from them.

I just ordered one lets see what luck i have with this lol

Got mine worked well with my note 3 out the box and I ordered an extra one for my wife's note 2 and wont work with that model but my note 3 is working flawlessly.

Any idea if this will work with the Zerolemon battery case?
Sent from my SM-N910P

Purchased 2 of these. Using a Spigen Neo Hybrid case or none at all. I can say yes it does work but you have to be extremely precises about where you put the phone down. I would say you have around a 1/4 inch square.

Note 2 on tmobile anyway is missing hardware. There is a mod requiring you to solder points to the contacts if you feel brave.

update 1: the first use 50% of battery after full charge. I think this battery has at least 4500mAh.
50% battery for 3 hours of screen time and ~ 20 hours standby. WOW. My stock battery 3:15 - 3:45hours with RootDim and Juice Defender.
So i receive it today. looks sturdy, nice matte black cover. Fits PERFECTLY to my ATT Note also my wall charger. I'll review the battery life later after my first drain, charging now
i am afraid if i buy them under $10 may causes my phone damage.

white cover for $18 not onsale like the black one.
Welp, I caved in and ordered it. Thanks for the Free Ship code!
I'll report back when I get this.
I know it's ridiculous but I know I'll have some use for this if this works as they claim. Most people tell me to just get a 2nd battery, but for my use, that is not an option. We go on 100mi. bike rides where we track our routes via GPS and the AllSport app to see how we do. Swapping batteries will kill the recording so hopefully this extra 5000maH carries my phone from start to finish and actually record a whole ride.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Going camping for a week in Colorado next month and this will be great. Although I am somewhat worried about this causing damage to my phone. Kind of. Don't really know what to think. But hey, it was $10.....

Just ordered 5 seconds ago. For $10, can't go wrong. This bat is at least = or better than stock 2500mah. Summer time coming, extra juice for the phone.
I seriously think other brand battery cost ~ $90. This should be a winner.
For $10 I couldnt help it, went ahead and bit the bullet myself!

I rather not take that chance just to save $10. I got Samsung Original Note battery from AT&T for $20.
If later the quality of the battery has been proven, sure I'll buy. Just like when NewTrent first came out a couple of years ago. No one heard of them but look at the reviews in Amazon now. HUNDREDS of 4.5 stars review.

I'm working in a Lion battery Lab so i pretty much know about Lion battery. It's safer than you thought
Anyone order this and get it in yet? Mine should be here Friday. I can't wait to get it and then take off the plastic/covering to see what size battery is actually in it.
I have the 3030 MAh Gold Battery atm, this one is 1/3 the price and sounds promising. The only thing I'm skeptical about, is what the construct is like.
Apparantly there are a few others out there who opened a battery (claiming to have more than 5000mah) and finding out that it was actually two 1500mah batteries taped together, hence the cheap price?
Someone post an update on the battery, and let us know how it works!

That was the Hyperion battery you are talking about. I'm hoping this one isn't the same way.
I got my 2 pack of Anker 2500 mah and they "seem" to be true 2500mah.
Got it in! Pictures
So today I got home from worked, checked the mail, and wooohooo! Manila envelope in the mailbox!
So I opened this bad boy up and immediately started peeling the sticker off. I got the sticker peeled all the way off around and come to find out it is 3 batteries stuck together(with no markings on them). Like an idiot I started to push them out of the little plastic cage-type thing they are held together in and *SPARK* / *ZAP* I got shocked/burnt. It didn't hurt, just a little burn mark on my finger.
So I was reluctant to try it out my phone, but curiosity got the best of me and I put it in and the phone wouldn't even turn on. So I'm sure I fried it.
What is worse, I try to see how the back cover fits, and look what I find...
Its cracked!
So I called up the company, waited on hold for about five minutes.
Talked to a CSR and she said they would be getting a new shipment next week and they would ship a new one out along with a return address label to ship this one back. We'll see how this one fares.
Anyways, here are some more pics -Notice it DOES has the NFC Antenna
Hope this helps someone!
Yup, received it today, update some pix on my 1 post, review battery life later, really sturdy and promising. battery kinda heavy too
Got mine a few days ago. So far so good except for the same issues as above post. The back cover for me was cracked down in the bottom corner where the s-pen slot would be! Cover doesn't properly lock into the phone itself so that one corner hangs lose.
I called the company I ordered it from. The customer service was very good. They did notify me that the shipment is currently sold out and that they'll send me a new cover as soon as new shipments come in.

Extended Battery?

Does anyone know if Samsung is going to be putting out an official extended battery for the Galaxy S3? I don't trust the cheap "extended" third party batteries that are likely relabeled standard sizes with cheap cells, considering they're the exact same size, yet claim 1000+ mAh over the standard.
They did it for the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, but I have no idea when that battery came out in comparison to the Galaxy Nexus's launch.
Any suggestions?
I just picked up the Hyperion extended battery and back cover.
first initial charge:
Almost 42 hours of use.
Just so you know, I loaded my s3 with as much load as I could:
Turned off auto bright set screen just past middle
Engaged all my "live" apps that Galway update, including eBay, tapatalk, xda pre., etc.
Turned on WiFi, blue tooth, data, and every possible battery trainer I could think of and put all my emails to push.
I you tubed the hell out of it, looked at some porn vids, played the greatest game ever made for android as much as possible, basically tried to get to zero as fast as possible.
42+ hours and then it went time red.
Hyperion is a very reliable battery.
Something else weird:
My WiFi signal was stronger.
Could be a placebo thing but I will report back again Friday, as I need to charge for 8 hours again. It is suggested to drain to red and charge fir 8 hours straight a few times.
Hyperion ftw !
Fyi 4000 ma.
Lol I even painted the battery cover world rally blue to match my scooby

Nice car, I have a black '04. :good:
Do you have (or could you please post) a picture of the phone with the extended case sitting on a flat surface? I'm curious how much it makes the phone stick up. Also, have you come across any (protective) cases for extended battery backs?
that doesn't look any thicker than my epic did.

I'll try to post up some comparison pics today later on
Also have not looked around for extended cases but I think I have seen some.
OK so here's some comparison pics.
I used my htc rezound as something to compare it with. I think for some this at be to much, but the case actually makes the phone more ergonomical.
I loved the build of my amaze (resounds cousin) so for me the thickness isn't an issue.

Another inquiry... Did you ever come across a thin phone case that was compatible with the extended battery cover?
Btw thanks for the info on the battery and accompanying photos.
Edit: ahhh never mind. I missed the post where you said that you have not looked for a case.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"
Link to said extended battery? Is it for the Att lte or international SG3 ??

Just eBay it. Hyperion hasvtheir own account and (another reason I buy from them) they are in Michigan. Nice not to have to buy from China.
I paid 16$ for the battery and cover.
I think the buy it now was like 20$
I thought I saw cases for extended batteries on eBay but not sure.
I'm gonna 're do my back cover and clear cote it and see how I feel about it. I like the naked feel. I may just do a full invisible body armor or something.
Also I previously contacted andida they said extended batteries for the gs3 would be out soon and it appears they are on eBay ad of yesterday.
I may buy one just for comparison.
I think the Andida was 4500 as opposed to this one being like 4100ma or something.
Edit: just looked at the battery... made in China....lol. ah well. Still a good product.

I would very much appreciate that. Since the S3 is so thin already, I was thinking about getting an extended battery.
That was my thought too. I never thought I'd say this, but it might actually be too thin. I also ordered a Seidio Active w/kickstand case, but that won't fit the extended battery.
Edit: A bit of new info I just found, Mugen is planning a 4600mAh battery w/cover and a protective case for it. They just recently released a 2300mAh battery, but the big one isn't out quite yet.
https://www.facebook.com/MugenPowerBatteries
I have had great experiences with Seidio's extended batteries. I emailed them asking if they intend to make one for the G3. They replied and confirm that they will make one but would not give me any eta on it.
I just bought a Anker battery rated @ 2200mAh.. I prefer swapping batteries vs. having a thicker and heavier phone. I have used Anker with the sensation and the amaze. never let me down.

I had the Power brand from them for my EVO 4G. That thing ran all day with me playing games from time to time and playing on the internet. I think I might have went to the red maybe 3 or 4 times with that thing and it was late at night. I will be keeping an eye out for it from them.
One thing about the Seidio is their "soft coat" battery door. Unlike the oem cover which I find slippery, this soft coat gives a slight resistance.
I am looking to buy the seidio active with kickstand. This Commuter is too slippery! If I were to buy it, could I reasonably expect that seidio's eventual extended battery will fit in it?

I bought this case for less than $11 a week or two ago, and the price has apparently been raised since. But it's still a good value as it acts as a kickstand, wallet, case, and manages to protect the screen when not in use.

I think this is the best looking Note 2 case I have seen. However, it does not come in white
I mention it in another thread, but for those of you buying cases and such online have you noticed that some of the sellers are indicating that their products only fit the GT-N7100 (International) sub-model of the Note. Seeing as the Verizon version is identified as SCH-I605 I'm curious if there will be some slight variation to the phone causing some of the more form fitting cases to be slightly off in the placement of openings or button covers.
Here is just one such example... (check the description)

I got a flip case included with my preorder but I'll be selling at as soon as it arrives, I also just got a Rearth case... Just need the damn phone already! Lol

There is absolutely no difference in the shape, size, volume, weight, etc between models. The only difference is we got an ugly Verizon logo on our button, and the rest of the entire damn planet does not.
Any potential issues with the magnetic cover (and flaps) on some cases interfering with the phone and/or the screen?
The Smart Dock. This seems like a must.

Just got the TYLT and very impressed by how fast it picks up the phone and charges even through my Unicorn Beatle case. Little on the higher priced but if it lasts a reasonable amount of time will definitely be worth it. I don't like using the USB port to charge seams to shorten the life of the port a little
Itian A6 is my favorite and it's less than $30. -

Port or battery, seems either way it's shortening the life of something.

not seen an app for this, but I've been extremely impressed with the Choetech redesigned one. Search Amazon for B00C40OG22 as I can't post outside links.
A whole lot cheaper than most the other ones but has worked perfectly so far, easy to position about 1/3 bottom of the phone.
I just got the Choetech Stadium 3 coil and it works great so far.
Wow, I guess it's been a while since I looked at qi chargers because these are all < half the price I remember.
Yea, no kidding. Last time I looked the prices were to much for me to bother. lol

I use the Choe and a Nilikin. Had them for a while. The Nilikin doesn't charge sideways if the phone has a thick case and it will not line up the coils. Friend has a huge case and mine is not so big. Don't know about the in between sizes.
Got my Choe Stadium yesterday. Working great so far, even with two wraps and a Ringke Fusion case. At first I thought it was charging slower than it was draining, but decided to leave on while I slept to see. Charged to full np. Not hot or anything.
I don't seem to get almost any variation in charge speed by placement according to Ampere.
Did yours come in a box labeled "UPGRADED" on it? Didn't see a mention of it on the page (might have just missed it), and was just curious.
I just received this today. It works great and you can charge wirelessly on the go or with usb.

The CHOE upgraded and CHOE stadium are different models. I ordered from amazon and they sent me the wrong one so I'm returning it. The CHOE upgraded is a square and has only 1 coil. While the CHOE stadium is a rectangle and has 3 coils.

I actually looked it up after I posted that. Forgot to update.
It is the Stadium, but apparently a newer version. (T511 was the old one I think, from a few years ago)
"T513 QI Compliance UPGRADED VERSION" is what's on the box, as well as the CHOE Stadium stuff on the back sticker/back of the (rectangle)charger.

That is a very good charger for the money. My wife has been using one for a few months and I recently picked one up to modify it for use on my ProClip car mount. Works great. I removed the case and mounted the PCB directly to the mount with 4 small bolts that go through 4 convenient holes in the circuit board then cut the lower portion of the rear case off so the remaining bit attaches to the top to cover the back of the PCB. I have only been using it for a few days but so far it has worked as expected. Looks pretty 'factory' too.

ZEROLEMON Charging Case on the works. Already Planned.

The company already has a plan for a charging case. Can't wait to buy it. HYPEEEEEE

This was my thought, if this case is more expensive than a Car Dash charge it'd be pointless for me! The battery life on this phone is just insane as it is, got 6hours SOT yesterday, I've NEVER gotten anything past 3/3.5 hours before.

They just look so ugly too, to put a huge bulky case on a phone which has gotten very nice and slim...eek!
What they didn't tell you is that their plan is NOT to make a case for the OP5.
Just say'n.

People that are out all day and evening but also want to use their phone normally. You might go to work, head out that evening, have a few drinks, crash at a friends and go direct to work. They have their uses, people that go camping also get good use from them as well as battery packs.
I have the one for the 3/t. It's huge but it's useful for long flights. The fact it works as a power bank was also useful to charge my buddy's phone too.

We are waiting for this battery case... i'm waiting for like 2/3 months i guess, when you said the same thing to me on twitter... Do something like iphone 7, with 5k mAh, and slim.
In 2 days after the announce of iphone you guys put the case to sell... Come on, more you guys delay, less we'll buy it!
And please, try to sell using Ebay, amazon can't delivery to Brazil anymore e_e.
*Waiting for the case*

Anyone know when this first became available to buy? Anyone have one? I hated the one for the nexus 5 with a passion, but I'll give it another shot for the rare times i need it.

Less than 2 weeks ago. Have been waiting for someone to post reviews and videos. Please do post as many photos as possible. Want to know if headphone jack requires an extra dongle for reach. If that's the case it's not for me
Just so you know, it costs $59.99 on Zerolemon's site with a 10% disc if you use THANKYOU10. I dont know how much you paid for it. It's not a referral code or anything.

so i use that itty bitty powerpack on my keychain or the big ass powerbank in my backpack
Okay got it today. Here are as many angles as I could think of that would be helpful and I compared the size with a nexus 4 and an iPhone 5s. I've tried 3 different headphones and all connected without any problems (the slot is huge). However, i wouldn't use one with an L shaped connection. It was very difficult to remove. Straight ones were no problem. The speaker grills are kind of nice. Holding the phone in landscape doesn't block the sound this way. Although I'm not sure how long you could hold it. It's heavy as hell! I can't comment on battery life of course anytime soon, but if there's any other questions let me know.

Well give it like a week trail , and see how it goes, if it works out well for you , though i'm wondering if it gets warm , etc if it's in your pocket while giving it charging power and so on. There has to be some kind of that going on to keep it up to 100%, otherwise if it works out well for you, i will buy it as well.
