You can't flash anything directly from fastboot without an unlocked bootloader.

How do I unbrick my kindle then? If I can't them i'm toast.

BUMP. I need this image ASAP...

You cannot flash it anyway. Fastboot cable works in other way on HDX.
You cannot unbrick your device.
Which state of your thor now?

Stuck in fastboot trying to install CM

Hey everyone I have a kindle fire 3rd gen HDX 7" (THOR) and my ultimate goal is to install a CyanogenMod OS instead of the stock fire OS. I have been following a youtube guide on installing CM and I was able to get it rooted. The guide instructed that I use an app called "fireflash" to flash TWRP, then install CM from there. Unfortunately I was unable to get fireflash to work, so I downloaded an app called "flashify" to flash "TWRP" as the recovery partition and "U-Boot" as the boot partition, as per the video's instructions.
Once I hit the flash button, the kindle for some reason booted into fastboot mode and it has been there ever since. After some research, I have tried to interact with my device in fastboot mode, but only commands that begin with “fastboot -i 0x1949” will work, and will not boot back into the stock OS, but instead gives the error message “FAIL: oem idme not allowed for locked hw.” When I give the command “adb devices”, nothing shows up. Also, when I try to flash TWRP, the command prompt simply tells me that the recovery image cannot be loaded. I am assuming that I need to unlock my bootloader to proceed, but I would appreciate it if someone could confirm this.
Sorry if this is a little long, but I wanted to be thorough. Can anyone suggest a way to either get back into stock fire os so I can start over, or proceed to install TWRP and CM in fastboot mode? Thanks!
Sounds like your device may be toast. You followed instructions for a completely different model of Kindles — there's a big difference between the HD 7 and HDX 7.
I'd try the commands over on this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22077057&postcount=11

Thanks for the reply, and I was afraid of that. I followed the instructions on the link you posted to no avail. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly was it that I did to cause this to happen? was it the flashing of the boot and recovery partitions?

You can't flash TWRP to an HDX without the proper preparations and only a few older devices qualify anyhow. You effectively poured sand in the crankcase.

yes i can go in fastboot mode. but my phone is not rooted.
what shall i do ?
Rooting has nothing to do with flashing. Put it in bootloader mode and flash a recovery. Then try doing a factory reset. If that doesn't work, re-flash the ROM.

i will enter in bootloader mode and then how to flash recovery? can you explain little? Thanks
It's all in step 5 of the guide you used to root the device on the first place. No need to re-write it here.

actually i didn't understand which recovery to flash? twrp or stock ??
No offence, but you need to do more research and know how this stuff works before flashing things.
I can't answer your question because I don't know what you are trying to flash. Ask in the thread where you found it. If it's a custom ROM, TWRP Will work. If stock, stock recovery is best.
I'm signing off for a while. Good luck.

Right, because the device is rooted. The first section of the routing guide tells you the problem (modified system position) and there are threads here to solve it.

well that's why you need to unlock bootloader first before attempting to root your phone. and know what you are doing (flashing). With all that said if you can still boot to Recovery then flash this Full ROM (save this on an SD card) that should stop the bootloop and have a working ROM

If you can't boot to recovery or even bootloader this is your guide

if you can still access bootloader then simply just boot TWRP from it, first download this full rom and save it on your SD card
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087013219
then go to bootloader if you can still access it and boot TWRP
fastboot boot [whatever your twrp name is].img
you can download modified twrp here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=16464
then once inside TWRP just install the FULL ROM that was downloaded and saved in the SD card/
My phone boots into fastboot ok but there is no recovery wont boot. I try to flash recovery and it says it cant because not unlocked tried unlocking bootloader says its sucesfull but phone wont get bast boot logo.

Stock recovery disabled via twrp, how to enable it?

Hi, I used fastboot to boot TWRP without flashing it (using fastboot boot twrp.img). Foolishly of me when exit TWRP I was asked to disabled Stock Recovery wich I swiped yes. Now my stock recovery is gone. How do I enable it via TWRP again without having to flash it? or what are my options? phone functionlity was not afected, just the stock recovery.
thanks.
imho you either use twrp OR stock recovery. so in my opinion youve done all right.
Download fastboot image.. extract boot.img from it. Boot in TWRP using fastboot .. then install->install image->boot.img(file you extracted)->flash->choose recovery, not boot when where to flash->done.
If it doesn't work then flash the whole fastboot image with mitool.

I ended up flashing the whole image beacuse it bricked when using the command "fastboot oem lock".
any idea why it bricked? i did flash a stock recovery before in order to lock it again.
After rooting it im interested in locking the bootloader again. Maybe I skipped a procedure in order to lock the bootloader again??
Right now im rooted, phone working, stock recovery (since I flashed a fastboot image with SP tools) and unlocked bootloader but I want to lock it without bricking it again.
thanks.

To lock bootloader again you must flash stock image via fastboot with "lock bootloader" bat file (it is in stock image flashtool zip). But why U need to lock bootloader? i dont see sense to do it.

Hi, thanks for the answer, I want to lock it because some features got disabled when unlocking the bootloader, like xiaomis "Find mi Device". I also read that having the bootloader unlocked may compromise your data security.

Tkx Davey, it works.
In another case, another my friend (I have many friend use HDX 7 ). He try to unlock bootloader & install TWRP (in this gui https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75284993&postcount=1006)
but in this step
Code:
dd of=\\?\Device\HarddiskX\Partition6 if=aboot_vuln.mbn
dd of=\\?\Device\HarddiskX\Partition18 if=twrp_cubed.img
In a stupid moment, he doesnt run the second command (dd of=\\?\Device\HarddiskX\Partition18 if=twrp_cubed.img)
(bootloader unlocked in next step)
And now his hdx 7 stuck in [fastboot] mode.
How can I can help he solve this problem?

If a vulnerable bootloader was installed (first command) then a standard TWRP image can be flashed from fastboot as previously noted.
