ATT Lollipop/KitKat Firmware Update signed/encrypted/custom - AT&T HTC One (M8)

S-on users will need to relock/lock bootloader before flashing.
S-off users can simply flash using either method below. I also have included an S-off only option which i removed the boot and recovery img from (perfect for users on custom roms who only want to update firmware)
Option 1) Use fastboot to flash
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ATT444firmware.zip
*** If any message appears about reflush and flash run above command again ***
fastboot reboot-bootloader
**** this firmware has both stock boot and recovery so flash your custom rom's kernel and/or your custom recovery NOW before rebooting****
Option 2)
Rename zip file to 0P6BIMG.zip and place on your external SD card. Reboot to hboot and allow bootloader to update/flash
Download Links Do NOT mirror these elsewhere.

OMG I LOVE YOU :fingers-crossed:
This is REAL developer spirit!

i did option 2 and it goes thru the phase in bootloader, and when it boots i hear the boot up sound but stays on the HTC screen, but i can hit the vol up and i can hear the sound like it did a reboot but its stuck on the HTC screen. any ideas?

I think you will need to reflash your ROM as dottat did not specify if he had made the package for s-off not to wipe. Generally during firmware update, it will wipe clean the phone to reset partitions, I am assuming. If you come from gpe firmware, best to reflash because gpe and sense have different partitioning.
Hold power+vol up to force shut down then use power+vol down to get to bootloader and enter your custom recovery from there.

Firmware won't wipe.
That said I believe by second option he meant SD card method. If he's s on he will likely need to reflash his roms kernel (boot.Img) via fastboot after unlocking again.
@hauntyu
Just pull the boot.img out of the zip of the rom you were running and flash that in fastboot mode after you unlock your bootloader again.

Which method would I use to flash the ruu or download because Im gpe and it says when I run the ruu its the wrong image.

You would need to set your cid and mid back to stock. Then flash the firmware only zip I posted in my other thread. Then factory reset. Then flash this ruu.

You have to flash stock 4.4.4 recovery and then relock. Then you can either download it from the other thread where it's posted and manually flash it in recovery or do it the regular way through update.

You are gonna need to lock using your pc so your pc is required anyways. Make sure you back up your stuff before you unlock your boot loader again as it will factory reset your phone to do so.

I'm trying to get back to stock, but I'm S-On. Every thread I've seen (including this one) requires S-Off and I can't find instructions on how to relock the bootloader from S-On.
As I posted elsewhere, I've tried to run SunShine, but it won't work with LiquidSmooth. The couple of "stockish" ROMS I've flashed haven't worked and I've had to reflash my backup.

Flash a stockish Rom and then separately flash the stock boot.img from the 4.4.4 firmware zip. Sunshine will fail on any Rom that uses a non stock kernel. Even debug turned on in kernel will cause it to fail.

OK so then it should go something like this..
1. Connect phone to PC.
2. Move recovery file you linked to my android folder on PC where my fastboot files are.
3. fastboot flash stock recovery
4. fastboot oem lock
5. Reboot
6. Take ota.
Am I missing something?

phone won't boot - request HELP !!!

hi all
Forgot to charge my EVO 3D (CDMA) and battery completely drained. Even after using another fully charged battery my phone goes to bootloop - just shows the HTC logo and reboots again and again. Here is what I have:
hboot : 1.5 (S-ON)
radio : 1.06.00.1216
ota : 2_17.651_5
(I am using this phone in India activated on Reliance)
As the phone doesn't boot I can't access it thru adb to give command 'adb reboot bootloader'
I can get bootloader by pressing vol_down+power
When I run the 2_17.651_5 RUU (exe) from my computer while phone is on fastboot, it completes successfully without errors. But still on reboot it just stays at the htc screen and reboots (guess it's becoz stock kernel not getting flashed as the phone is s-on)
kindly help to get back my phone boot again
thanks and regards

Don't listen to the previous guy. Try using fastboot OEM lock and then ruuing. Or, try getting freezas stock kernel and extracting the boot.IMG and flashing it thru fastboot. Or, you could use fastboot flash recover recovery.IMG to get twrp or clockworkmod and do a superwipe and try flashing a new Rom. There are tons of options if you still have fastboot.

Thanx for responding. As I mentioned earlier,I have already relocked and RUU'd the exe file, but though it runs without errors doesn't solve problem. Again as it is s-on doesn't permit to flash boot.img. Though I am able to flash twrp recovery, not able to get into recovery from fastboot. Thanks again, really appreciate your help.

You don't need to relock once you unlock the HTC way. Just unlock the phone then flash via fastboot the boot.img and then ruu if you want.

thanks. extracted boot.img from freeza's kernel and flashed from fastboot after unlocking. But still doesnt solve problem. Can you give me a link for boot.img
Pleassssssse HELP !!!!!!
I have the exactly the same problem, a full reboot result in boot loop, and can not fix it by now.
I guest the phone is rooted before OTA, so OTA can not flash kernel successfully because the wrong signature, and the phone will not boot because the wrong kernel.
I have tried ruu, fastboot boot recovery.img and etc, all failed.
The key point is that, the phone is rooted and you tried OTA. HTC OTA must have a stupid bug, it can not recovery from a partial update, or automatically roll back becasuse of the partial update, dem!
Please have a look at the guide/flashing notes in my signature. If u r unlocked u are likely not entering recovery correctly.
If u are trying to flash the Ruu u have to be locked or relocked. If u cant boot to android, run the xhausx's full Ruu zip from bootloader.

2) ran xhausx's full RUU zip (PG86IMG_2.17.651.5.zip) from bootloader (could get into bootloader by pressing volum_up + power button. adb cannot connect to phone (as phone does not boot), to run 'adb rebooot bootloader')

Then adb

Have you tried to just run the RUU like you said boot turn debug on .... Then go to hboot flash your recovery...
Then fastboot boot recovery.img.
This should work I have unrooted my phone 3 times already in the past month Trial and Error on my part adb always found my phone...
I am tryin to figure out what is going wrong on the last part with TWRP...
Since you said after you do that it was a no go? What happend ? Adb should still be working since you just flashed the recovery...
Anyways I hope you get it solved man I am tryin to figure this problem out.
Do you have a rom already ready to be flashed on your SD card?
Problem is, since i’m not able to android boot I can't reboot bootloader from adb, as I can't connect adb without the phone normal booting. When I boot it just stays at the HTC white screen.
I have flashed twrp recovery from fastboot, but when I give command 'fastboot boot <twrpxxxxx>.img it just boots back to the HTC splash screen
You can go back to complete stock if you rename the RUU file PG86IMG.zip and load onto the root of sd card. Get into bootloader with [power+volume down] and it will automatically detect and load the zip file. This can only be done if you are relocked. I did this in order to get the latest update. After you get back to stock you can unlock and root again.

As I mentioned in earlier post, have tried flashing PG86IMG.zip from bootloader, but still phone doesn't boot properly and is in a bootloop.
You've used the following file and done these exact steps and allowed the phone to boot to full stock OS? (assuming 2.17.651.5 is correct version)
OPTION 2 - RUU.zip info:
I prefer the .exe version but xHausx’s “FULL” PG86IMG_2.17.651.5.zip may work for you (must be renamed PG86IMG.zip). Make sure you have plenty of battery/charge left!

**THIS WILL RETURN YOU TO FRESH OUT OF THE BOX**
You will not need any special drivers loaded, etc...
1.Download the stock ROM ZIP image from here: and rename it "PG86IMG.zip"
2.Copy it to SD Card
3.Reboot phone into hboot mode by holding volume down and then press power.
Keep volume down held until you boot into hboot mode.
4.In hboot mode the phone will scan the SD card with the image. Once it finds it will ask you if you want to update. Press "Power" to update.
5.Wait.... For a while. When it gets to "system" it will loop a few times. Its quite nerve wracking actually but after about 5 or 6 times it will complete.
6.Once the entire flash is complete it will prompt you to "press power to reboot." Press power and your phone will reboot to 100% stock ROM.

I don't think you need to run an ruu to get the stock recovery back. search and you should be able to find a download link to get the stock recovery and you can just flash that with adb/fastboot.

Found out hard way: you can't just be on the last official RUU (3.14.605.12) to get the new update from Verizon.
ALSO dammit you have to have previously taken the small February update to 3.14.605.13. The update's name mentions
605.13 in its title. The problem is that you can't get that little update anymore!!!!
Those of us with only 605.12 may have to wait until the next RUU is issued. Gripes me.
You realise someone posted the full ruu zip in this thread. You don't have to get it from software update thing

still looks for 605.13 and craps out with an error message!
how to solve that
In February, Flyhalf205 uploaded the 605.13 OTA.zip in another thread.
The one I could not find anywhere.
You take that little one, rename it update.zip, and flash in hboot.
Do a factory reset and it'll boot up.
Then you can get the current OTA from Verizon.
13 zip is here

I was on 605.13 stock ICS, rooted and with Amon Ra recovery. I grabbed the 605.12 recover and flashed it and relocked the boot loader. I have tried multiple times to run the OTA (both pulling from Verizon and by putting it on the SD card). It keeps failing with the same 'Wrong Task ID' error mentioned by OP. I even wiped the SD Card, did clear storage from stock recovery, a couple of factory resets to no avail.
Can someone help? Is it possible that the 605.13 OTA a month or so ago didn't install properly since I had Amon Ra. In Software it shows I am at 605.13 so I doubt that. But would you suggest running the 605.13 Update.zip manually and then try to pull the OTA?

Can someone help? Is it possible that the 605.13 OTA a month or so ago didn't install properly since I had Amon Ra. In Software it shows I am at 605.13 so I doubt that. But would you suggest running the 605.13 Update.zip manually and then try to pull the OTA?

You will need to relock the bootloader then run the 605.12 RUU and let that boot up and not modify anything then you will get the 605.13 update first and then the latest after that, that is how I got the update and had no problems at all.

[Q] Bootloader Relocked, Help!!! TaMPERED

I Unlock the bootloader following this method youtube-com/watch?v=iyRxI15CUnA&feature=youtu.be (HTC Dev Bootloader Unlock) ... went good, them i rooted following this youtube-com/watch?v=Y7-dAlaJL2I and install TWRP 2.6 , all good, but when i try to flash CM 10 ROM only get the boot up screen (fancy circle and CM logo) them i decided to get back my official sense rom (JB 4.1.1 sense 4.x) but Says ''you dont have OS installed'' (factory reset/erase cache/dalvic cache/system) i tried other ROM but nothing happens only boot up screen, son I contact the developer ''QBKING77'' he told me that follow his video to relock the bootloader youtube-com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4 and i did it... Now My Phone Is Useless because i dont have rom installed and i cant re-unlock the boot loader to enter in recovery to try another ROM. What Can I Do, Please Help!!!
You need to unlock your bootloader again and make sure you have a working recovery installed.
You're S-on so you have to flash the kernel separately from the ROM. You need to get up and running, though, so download MeanBean ROM and flash it from recovery. You can connect your phone and computer together and boot into recovery and mount either internal or external storage and transfer the ROM zip to your phone. Do a full wipe in recovery, then flash the MeanBean zip and reboot. The phone will boot to the splash screen then back to recovery. Flash the MeanBean zip again and reboot. You should be good to go then.
Also take a look at the link in my sig. My guide contains some useful info. I recommend gaining S-off as soon as possible. Any more issues, shoot me a PM or reply in this thread.

Go to the link in my sig. I have a link to a guide on how to setup ADB on your PC. I also have links to the drivers you need, or you can just install HTC Sync on your PC to get the drivers you need.

Type adb devices from your OS or recovery
Type fastboot devices in bootloader
If it's still not responding click the link in Fin's sig and find the link to the latest drivers, download them using the 6-6-13 and don't forget the BMP drivers
Uninstall everything HTC from your PC/reboot PC/install drivers/plug your phone back in and let the drivers install(they will also install once you go to bootloader and recovery)
Try the commads again

Follow my instructions from my first post and install MeanBean ROM. It's in the Development thread.
MeanBean has a kernel installer built in to facilitate flashing the ROM while you're S-on. You can also fastboot flash the kernel but there is a little more work involved in doing it, and right now you just want to get your phone up and running. You did flash a custom recovery to your phone, correct?

You can install any ROM for your phone while S-on by using either the Flash Image GUI app or fastboot flashing the kernel. If you need more info click the link in my sig.

No signal, phone number, SIM problem? Number 000-000-0000

As I was using CM 4.4.2, everything was going fine, I had 3 bars of LTE, and then I tried to make a call and it said mobile networks not available, I checked my signal in the status bar and it still said LTE and data still worked fine. I went to my phone settings and checked it and it said my mobile network was unknown, and my phone number was 000-000-0000. I wiped, and flashed CM10.2(4.3) and it did the exact same thing, only this time it said my phone number, but still, I couldn't make any calls or text, I've tried flashing two sense 5 roms and none of them display my phone number or let me call or text, but upon changing the subscription type from global to LTE/CDMA, it gives me LTE data, but that's it...Can anyone please help me?
Backup your internal storage.
Copy to pc.
Flash stock based Rom.
Flash stock recovery.
Perform a
factory reset from settings or recovery.
This will wipe everything and restore the radio partition.
Flash back a custom recovery and Rom.
Copy sd contents back to device.

Stock DNA Recovery Image
To flash the Recovery:
Place the file in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode:
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
The image is easily installed via an unlocked bootloader with the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery imagename.img
For example, I provided a recovery img named dnastockrecovery.img
So you would type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery dnastockrecovery.img
The image must be in your fastboot working directory.
Or you can use Flashify from the Play Store.
I recommend getting used to and familiar with doing it via fastboot though.

No problem bud.
Glad that worked out for you.
Same process always fixes 3g/4g issues after flashing many roms for me, on all of my devices.
:good:
This exact thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Busted my ass trying to fix it, after a few days of no service i finally got it.
---------- Post added at 12:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:45 AM ----------
The way you fixed it seems a lot easier than what I did. I returned to s-on, 1.15 hboot and the oldest firmware. Now my phone's bootloader will always say tampered too, since i had to HTC dev unlock it to get root.

I have a second DNA that I have not been able to use.
Since Moonshine S-off I have not had any data connection. It has been very frustrating.

Regarding the instructions you listed above, are these run from the phone or adb/fastboot? Going to perform this after work tonight and just wanted to be sure. Thank you!

I figured that out after i commented.
when u go to flash your custom rom back to you need to do a dirty clean or can it be a clean flash by wiping cache system sdcard everything.

You'll have to install a custom recovery first. I use TWRP. Install your custom ROM onto the sd card. Boot into recovery, make a nandroid, wipe in recovery> Data, Cache, and Dalvic, then install your ROM and reboot.
