[Q] (SOLVED) unable to root my S 2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a newbie.
I tried to root my phone but just unable to root it.
I flash TWRP ( 2.5.0.0) via ODIN sucessfully with a green Pass . Reboot phone to recovery and Hit System and TWRP asked me to swipe if I want to root my phone. I did and my phone reboot after some action performed by TWRP.
I checked with root check basic and it said Root access is not properly installed on this device. I tried to run TWRP manager apk. It said to run the apk phone need rooted. So I know the phone has not been rooted.
I did the following to see if I can correct the problem.
1)Reboot to TWRP recovery and flash CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox zip file. No success.
2) flash another zip: su-3.0.5-efgh-signed. No sucess.
3) flash another zip: Update superU-1.51 : No success.
4) Flash ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.2.8 on top of TWRP then try to run Install zip on SD card but CWTR return with an error "E: can not mount sd card "
Below is my phone spec.

You're supposed to root with odin and not with recovery. This is why cwm doesn't work correctly. Try framaroot (google it and install app) and select the appropriate root method (consult the framaroot q and a or root guide). And also, did you double check that the file you flashed was for your device? There should be device specific root files for your device and it is important to pay attention to thread details.
Regards, gsstudios

gsstudios,
Thanks for answer my call for help.
Unfortunately Framaroot does not work for my model. I searched the forum and somebody already tried but no luck.

Link for TWRP: http://www.4shared.com/get/oUigxM-6ba/TWRP_302-0.html
Downloaded supersu from:
1. Make sure usb debugging is on and oem unlock is on
2. copy supersu file into phone
3. Turn off phone and go into download mode (vol down+home+power)
4. Connect to pc and flash TWRP file via odine (make sure you untick autoreboot)
5. When flash passes unplug phone and hold (vol down+home+power) immediately once the screen turns black switch to (vol up+home+power) even if you see the red error keep holding and TWRP will open
6. Flash the Supersu file that you copied from TWRP and wipe delvik cache then reboot to system
Supersu should be installed and you should have root.
Thanks again @rs1981

There are several ways to skin this cat; two possibles solution are shown below; both assume you have access to a working build of TWRP (version is irrelevant)
Option #1
- boot into TWRP
- tether device and test if adb server responds
- if no proceed to option #2
- otherwise follow step #2 from this post to reflash aboot and twrp
Option #2
- boot into TWRP
- tether device and transfer Nexus ROM KTU84U (KitKat based) to internal storage
- wipe system, data, cache and dalvik partitions from advanced wipe menu
- install Nexus and reboot device
- once ROM boots follow step #2 from this post to reflash aboot and twrp

Likely due to TWRP 3.0.3 which has issues flashing certain ROMs. Did you try option #1? ADB capabilities are integrated into TWRP v3. You could also try flashing CM 11 which seems to be more tolerant of TWRP 3.0.2/3.0.3 weirdness. You'll need to include a GAaps package and SuperSU (use this build) with CM 11; see OP for details.
If neither of these options work we can try a different ROM (albeit untested w/locked bootloader) or update the recovery partition from fastboot. The latter will require fiddling with drivers on the host machine which you previously indicated was problematic. Same with unlocking the bootloader assuming you saved the unlock file.
i cant access adb shell, i have the unlock file but with out adb functionality, the rom CM 11 needs a unlock bootloader, can i flash it with out the unlocked bootloader ?

this is from the link
General Information
- This ROM is for all variants of the 3rd generation Kindle HDX tablets.
- This is primarily for users of Safestrap 4.0.1, however
- This will also work on devices with TWRP however you must also unlock your bootloader.

Dude - you're fine. If you want to challenge great. I'm trying to help you out of a pickle of your own doing - not justify the validity of my posts. If uncomfortable flashing CM 11 roll up your sleeves and get fastboot drivers installed/working on your host. Then unlock the bootloader and reflash TWRP.

Two options:
#1 - follow instructions (step #2) in unlock thread (code block)
#2 - grab Flashify from here and use it to install the desired build of TWRP (no tether required)
Also suggest you issue the following adb commands in advance and record the results somewhere; these codes can be used to create an unlock sequence for your device in case the previously generated unlock file is invalid:
adb shell cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/manfid
adb shell cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/serial
we did it, thanks so much, my bootloader is unlocked thanks to you, now i am testing lineage 14, and i am very happy, tanks again for your time

Chinese tablet: Help with bootloop

Hello friends, I ordered a really nice looking Android tablet from AliExpress, and in the process of attempting to get to the goal or rooting it I have apparently broken it, I have searched through forum after forum for clues on how I can go about fixing it, but I have come here to ask for support from the greatest community on the internet, you all. Here are the details:
For reference, here is the link to the tablet I purchased:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-...912.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.78df4c4dxi2Tgy
I am able to get to the "Factory Mode" screen, choosing "Version", the following info is shown:
BB Chip: MT6580
MS Board: KT107
Build Time:
2018 03 06
11:43:04 CST
Kernel Ver.:
3. 10. 72+ ([email protected]jty) (gcc version4 4.8 (GCC) #4 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 6 11:45:14 CST 2018
Android Ver.: 7.0
SW Ver.: KT107_L1_20160428
Custom Build Verno.: unknown
IMEI1: unknown
IMEI2: unknown
Modem Ver.: unknown
Bar code: unknown
How did I get to the point where I am now? I enabled OEM unlocking in developer options, then enabled USB debugging, then I rebooted into fastboot mode. After that I ran the command "fastboot oem unlock", I was then prompted to tell it yes or no, I said yes, and it then brought me back into fastboot mode. I rebooted it, expecting it to perform a factory reset, and ever since then it just hangs on the boot screen indefinitely. The screen is animated (the normal boot sequence) but it never gets farther. I'm able to get into "Factory Mode" as well as the screen prompting me to choose "Normal Boot", "Recovery", or "Fastboot".
I have not been able to find a working recovery (downloading the img then trying "fastboot boot xyz.img", it tries to boot but then says "unknown command" before failing). Even if I were able to load up a recovery like TWRP I don't know how exactly I'd go about trying to fix my situation.
For clarification I haven't flashed anything, I've only tried to unlock the bootloader. I then tried to relock the bootloader, same result.
Any help would be appreciated! I would hate to think I spent that money and broke my tablet without even having it for a whole week! Thanks again in advance!!

Hi there,
This will be impossible the only solution I could think of is contacting the manufacturer and asking for the stock ROM.
However all is not lost you can try and search your ROM on this website.
www.needrom.com
I'm not really sure but you can try to boot up a custom recovery using adb and then reset the whole tablet it might work
ONLY BOOT THE RECOVERY AND DONT INSTALL THE RECOVERY AS IT MIGHT NOT BE COMPATIBLE.
yet I will research more about this tablet to help you out in any way.
Resolution
Thank you for the resource for roms (NeedROM). Though I didn't find a recovery or custom ROM for my device I did try several fastboot commands, and turns out running "fastboot format cache" and "fastboot format userdata" made the device bootable. Handy info to have if ever you are in such a situation!

Hi there,
This will be impossible the only solution I could think of is contacting the manufacturer and asking for the stock ROM.

Updates?
I think I've just purchased the exact same device and was wondering if you made any progress whatsoever? I'm in dire need to overclock it for that extra horsepower among other things. I've scoured high and low across many forums and have had no joy in finding anyone's success story. It's killing me that I spent £60 on the thing for only 1 reason and it can't even do what I need ??
I managed to build a working twrp recovery for this device. If anyone is interested then I will post it up somewhere. Would be really nice if someone had a working open OS, lineage etc for this. If anyone gets one I would be real interested. I tried a few things Hexagon, Infinix could not get them to work even though I followed the 'guides'. Two fruitless days wasted on this and the frustration shows now. Anyway enough griping from me, point is : 1.I got twrp on this device if anyone wants + 2.would love a lineage os(or equivalent) ROM.
Ive entirely borked my chinese tablet with this same chipset is there any chance you could share your TWRP recovery file?

I did exactly the same, I tried to flash many ROMs but none works, I don't have a premium needrom account to download this https: // ww w.needrom.com/download/jty-kt107/[/url] which is the Rom that I need to try and I think which is the tablet
Could you solve somehow? Or do you have a needrom account to download this ROM and try it? I would thank you and thank the other members of the group if they could help me, I will wait for a favorable response, happy day.
