This ext4 partition is for apps or for cache? An if for apps there is still need to use link2sd or u changed partitions so its seen as internal memory?
And one more question: Do i need to be on neo l ics fw or .62 vendor unlocked and newer play gb fws are good?

required FW is 62 or .79 with vendor partition..if you have it dont need to flash..i forget to say that on tutorial video.sorry...if you see the screenshot im on .62 firmware.. partition is for cache only..not available for user apps.
dont need to flash NEO L firmware..

ok. 1.5gb is a lot, i really thought that art needs 400-500mb...

as i say you can try 1GB and swap 128..or other values that you see its working..video is generic, should work with other sizes, but at least 1GB i think you are fine.

ok will try it. Now i need to clean sdcard and repartition it.
Did you (or anyon eother, but noone is talking here) tried something like link2sd? It will probably try to use "cache" partition as its, so its pretty unusefull i think (?)
---------- Post added at 10:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 PM ----------
SO after 15 minutes if use (and additional 15 minutes to ler it do the magic in the begginingI i see that automatic brigteness doesnt work and flashlight breaks everything - i mean screen gots dark and i cant do nothing except take out battery
EDIT: U said that this 1.5 gb is for cache, however i see that its used as internal storage (so its data), that mean that it can be how i think: internal memory is split for system and cache and data partition is moved to sdcard?

smokerman i belive you should move your Thread to Q&A or Troubleshooting as we are not the REAL DEVS of this ROM.. its Mike and he will eventually Create new threads for cm12 here.. lets give him this space... in the Dev thread.. i also for the same reason didnt create the thread here.. i hope you understand my point.. we dont want to tick him off do we.. lol

the rom at this point its enough for daily usage..when mike wants to take over or create a new thread i will close this one and put a link to his thread..for now its just to have all users in the same space as your q&a thread was created on early buildings..alpha..this now is like BETA stage..from my tests its a decent rom in this stage..i will try to fix touchpads if i can and if have time..nowadays i dont use xperia play anymore..im developing for other devices and this days xperia play unfortunely is more than outdated..i find myself struggling to get something more of this amazing device..i wish SONY could make a xperia play 2..but that is another thing..and people dont sign my petition , dont know why..almost a year and only 50 signatures..xperia play users are a bit ungrateful with developers..i know that now..thats why many developers leave from here and now its finally my turn to say goodbye..now and then i will be here to see my threads but anytime soon this subforum maybe will go to low legacy devices.

One thing I want to know: is the recovery still CM Recovery, and is it still not capable of flashing packages other than ROM and GAPPS?

Its still cm recovery, and it flashed supersu zip package. Dont have more mods for l as started playing with it yesterday evening
EDIT: I couldnt flash xposed for lollipop so it probably still doesnt let to flash other zips

I did the whole process and I get this

Do you made ext4 partition on sdcard? What application did u use for this? I recommend gparted as it always works for me (recovery or minitool sometimes gave me unseen partitions)

Can we bot Kitkat by using this kernel
just asking out of curiosity...can i boot kitkat(4.4.4) by using kernel of CM12
PS :- I tried to boot kitkat by using this kernel however it booted but was stucked in CM logo ....wouldn't it be great to get camera working in Kitkat and also there is no lag problem in KITKAT rom.
Btw, Smokerman Hats off to ur effort, its truly appreciated by every NEO L user

Certainly not... Kernels are never versatile. Also, the lag isn't necessarily associated to the kernel.

...and if you mean the speed, from my experience running PPSSPP, it's actually faster than CM11 in frame rate (for strange reason - CM11 stutters in even the simplest PSP game), though still not up to par with the good'ol ICS.

Hello XDA community! while I'm not forum Xperia Play, and recently between seeing as ive developing new rom's and I found this, and to save time to read all the post, wanted to know how things are going in general? .
Games?
Gamepad support? analogues?
3G - WIFI - Bluetooth - SMS?
stability and compatibility with applications?
if someone would be so kind you've tried the latest build and I can answer these questions.
thanks in advance

Hello
I wanted to ask, is it posible (on my ray) to make ultra light gapps and ROM with no ather apps just system and superSu + root browser.
I mean just main system apps, with no recorders, google talks, no live wallpapers picker or theme choosers...
My question is who could help me to find out main apps (just main) in my android?
Thanks.

Yes all these things are possible. A lot will depend on what ROM you are running and what you have already done to your device. If you google search for light gapps or minimal gapps you will find what you are looking for, just make sure to take a version of gapps that is compatible with your RAY and whatever ROM you are running on it. There is a pretty big list of what can and should not be deleted from your device here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...e-apks-their-purpose-safe-not-remove-big.html
Don't just remove anything that you "think" you don't need. Only remove stuff that you are reasonably sure is safe to remove and make sure that you have a rescue strategy ready (a nandroid back up of your device for example) in case it all goes wrong.

These types of general help threads are becoming more popular around xda and as sandy7 said, it is largely a way to keep people from opening up new threads (most of which are repeated questions). These unnecessary threads can clog up a forum and cause more important threads to sink and be hard to find. These general help threads are usually describes as new user friendly and that anything can be asked with out the asker getting flamed. That includes the dreaded "which is the best rom" question, which should be answered as politely as possible (hard I know!). If you guys care, I know of some of these other threads and I can post or PM you links, so you can see how others have done it.
I am on stock sony rom+mesa 3.8 hybrid, I created a back via TWRP, so now I want to install cm10 on my phone.
questions:
1) after installing cm10, if i restore the backup, will it backup only my data and settings? will it revert back to stock rom/the rom for which the backup was created?
2)how to switch between 2 roms(maintaining same data on both)?
3) does mesa 3.8 support init.d script?
4) how to check if init.d script is working on my device?
5) is i install any other rom, will the init.d script remain?
2. Confirm first - I know it works if it's the update of the same rom flash a new rom without wiping data, just wipe cache and dalvik, it will either work or bootloop
3, 4. If u are a noob, download pimpmyrom from store, itchecks for you and if it's not there it can make it supported, if dev there wud be a much better way

1. Nope if you restore ics backup on jb kernel you will be stuck in bootloop. Also I won't recommend you to use ics data on cm10.
2. If you are using ics rom then you can use nearly any ics rom over it without wiping data but doing all the other given wipes. Same goes for other android versions.
3. Just check in the mesa kernel thread no need to ask here.
4. If it's in the kernel then it will work. Anyways you cud do as mnishamk told u...
5. Most probably it may. Many of the ROMs here have int.d support.
Best Regards,
AJ

Installing Stock Apps In Custom Rom
I just want to ask if I could install some stock apps to a custom rom. I have installed "xNXT™ 7" on my WT19i yesterday. The rom is nice but I want to use stock ICS (WT19i) conversations app with it. I pushed it to system/app using ROOT EXPLORER with correct permissions but after rebooting my messaging app was gone.
I tried posting my problem on rom's thread but I'm new here @ XDA and not allowed to post under development forum until post count reaches 10.
Is there any way ?

[ROM][4.2.2][CM10.1] Unofficial Jenkins Builds (03/08 Oct, 2013)

======================================================================
[WHAT'S NEW?] FINAL 4.2.2 build feature notes...
10.1.5 comes with HALO.
10.1.6 comes without HALO.
======================================================================
[DOWNLOAD]
CM10.1.5 http://jenkins.androidarmv6.org/job/android/575/ (I don't own a copy of 10.1.5 since I had no need of HALO,
if anyone has a copy - contact me)
CM10.1.6 DOWNLOAD
Note: Google apps are NOT included - download from HERE THESE or use this MIRROR.
======================================================================
[Known bugs]
#1.Can't check Auto-Brightness in Settings->Display->Brightness?
==>>Pull down the Quick Settings Panel on Status Bar, choose Brightness and check Auto-Brightness from there.
#2. Wifi teather not working? [Fixed since CM 10.1.3]
==>>Search "wifi teather" on Play Store, users reported that "Wifi Teather Root" works. If anyone deers to confirm ill update this.
#3. Wifi don't reconnect after deep sleep (or 10min of inactivity)? [Fixed after July builds]
==>>A xda member, @soulreaver1 was frustrated of the same issue, so made an app that fixes it, visit it HERE where you will find the playstore link. It takes only a few seconds to thank him !
#4. BOOTLOOP after flashing SD-Ext script?
===>>Your SD-Card is not partitioned like it's supposed to caused by unknown bugs likely by Clockwork Recovery and u need to repartition it your SD-Card...So far I can only recommend Amon Ra, since I did it trough it and got the SD-EXT Tweaks working.
[Tips & TRICKS]:
==>>There are so many scripts on xda to boost your performance, wondering which to choose?
#Well It's best for you to try them all and see which one suits you best but if you wish to save some time click HERE , I personally use "Operation Killjoy" myself.
(CrossBreeder is another tweak, mentioned since it's compatible with Killjoy,
If you wish to combine it I suggest you to flash one at a time, boot your device after first flash and let it stabilize about a minute or 2, then flash CrossBreeder).
Flashing both at the same time caused great delay and system misbehaving, whats it gonna be it's up to you.
Others scripts I tried are Adrenaline Engine and Pure Performance and Fly-On(I believe was the name).
Know a better one then all above? Feel free to share it with us.
Credits on Operation Killjoy script goes to @Exit_Only.
==>>Flashed but no gapps?
#Since you're flashing experimental build, use THESE 4.2.2 Gapps or this MIRROR
Thanks to @rr0yy!
==>>Developer and Performance options missing??
#Enable performance and developer options with x7 times clicking on Settings->About->Build Date.
==>>Looking for data2ext solution?
#Here's the Thread link and...
==>>The Tutorial !
(Note: A partitioned SD card is required, otherwise skip this and partition it first.)
#1.After done with flashing ROM, flash the sd-to-ext* script.
#2.You must boot phone at least once before you can flash the second script. So, boot ROM and after 2 min are passed and system stabilized, reboot in recovery.
#3.Now flash the second to-sd-to-ext* script.(it should take about 2min to complete.)
#4.PROFIT! You got extra internal space! Get downloading cool new apps
(Oh, wait, If you get any error or stuck on "mounting sd-ext" or "unmounting sd-ext" do this:
Go into Mounts and Storage and try to mount /sd-ext. If you get Error Mounting then your SD Card is not partitioned well and I recommend you to flash Amon Ra Recovery and partition your SD Card from there. I had the same issue because of Clockwork buggs as already mentioned )
You just had to do it, huh?

Bad..very bad...
I don't know exactly for 3G but i can confirm that battery drain with on Wifi is huge...about -10% for like 10-15min on Wifi..
(played with my bro yesterday: wifi+game = from 20%->4% in 6-7min -_- )
Otherwise you get about 10hours battery with using phone not so much...
(-30% of time into Airplane mode)
(-No 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth..)
(-Greenify used to make sure no app runs in background.)
Playing games often turns your phone to "hand heater" and wastes your battery so quicky..(i reboot and remove the battery about 2min to cool off..)
If there is anything that should be fixed next, it's battery drain for sure..

I managed to get INT2EXT working with the latest RC1, it was simply a matter of trimming the ROM to give you more free space in your system partition. You may also need to mount /system in your recovery before flashing the script in order to get it to work.

[ROM][ICS][PORT] Stock 4.1.B.0.631 From Neo L to Xperia Play

Hello everyone,
There have been some time that new ICS firmware for Neo L is posted, and over time i manage to get a collection of patches that enable Xperia Play's touchpads.
Thread that i found it can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189311 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176936
Since no one posted it as flashable zip, i guess i could do it.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8eMrl6yvYKyQXl2ZVdCWVJTcWM/edit?usp=sharing
I had to make compatible with Lupus ICS/GB V4 Kernel (system less then 280MB), so that means i had taken some apps from /system/app to /data/app (on the bright side, apps in data can all be deleted, for debloating purposes)
It should be compatible with other ICS stock kernels, but i didn't test it
Screenshots are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38841129&postcount=57
Credits for touchpad fix goes to Markpython for editing framework.res and framework.jar
I must say big THANKS to Wedges,Doomlord and CosmicDan's for their work on our's Play's kernel :good:
And ofcorse thank to other developers and chefs here on XDA forum for their work :victory:
Update1:
-Thanks @smokerman, for making a video of this ROM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjnw55pfX18
-This ROM is compatible with Lupus ICS/GB kernel V5, now it have 30MB of free space in system partition

I am very curious .. I think I'll give it a try ...

Touchpads are compatible as any other ICS ROM, but i don't think it's perfect as in gingerbread.
Antutu score is around 4500 to 5500OC.
All phone functions works (GSM at leats). I mean, it don't have much features like other ROMS, but what it have, it works 100%
So far i didn't find any bugs (if there are any, it is most likely due my attempts to make a ROM out of Firmware files  )
As i see it, it is good ROM base-starter. To be modified, when deodexed... (this one is still odexed)
FInally as u promise a stock ics wthout fancy heavy apps.
Downloading now, let's see...
Edit: 2 things:
-why the quick google search bar doesn't do anything if i click on it?
-The system apps in /data/apps maked kinda messed up settings, but u could erase some usless stuff (like Wisipilot or Mc Afee) , like the guy before me wrote: "To be modified, when deodexed... (this one is still odexed)"

-google search is moved to data/app, maybe that's why it's not working
-Apps can be deleted from zip file before flashing (open with winrar/winzip and delete apk that you don't like/use , or later after flashing from launcher or PC (i use android commander for mass install/uninstall > http://androidcommander.com/

(google search is fine now, dont know why dont earlier)
Of course i know , but my point is that it would be nice having all those apps in system/app like in original rom. And in the same time u can erase some useless stuff (McAfee, etc etc)

I know what you mean, but as i said, the point of this "ROM" is to be as close as flashing FTF. I don't consider this as "my" ROM, it is for everyone else to download/look/edit/compare and this thread can be used for discution about mods that can be done with this rom...
My idea was to have stock ICS from Neo L that work on Play (with touchpads)
And i had problems with system size (system+vendor partition on FTF is much larger, around 340MB, and it hardly be squeezed to 280MB, to be compatible With Lupus ICS/GB V4)
I did some changes based on this for my personal use, and i'll upload that version tommorow as "my" ROM tommorow (upload speed sux for me)
Ps: as i said before, stock ROMs are always bloated

OK i understand your point of view.
Anyway, i reboot just to be sure and...well there's definitely something wrong with wi-fi. It's incredibly slow.

By the way, thank u. I always wanted a simple "original" stock ics for our Xperia Play. Why no one never ever did it?

So everything works here?
I basically just use my phone for N64oid, gameboid, Real Racing 3 and a lot of music and social networks (Instagram, Twitter, Face). So I don't care too much about touchpads unless I install a game like Fifa12 or Dead Trigger. But the problem I always have with all the ICS I've tested is that games like Real Racing 3 always closes (because of RAM).
Found a bug, the same on True Ancestor so i'm just gonna link it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40423492&postcount=118
Yeah, everything should work, only bug so far is double-tab opening when startint browser from bookmark shorctcut (as DanyXP said). Maybe it's firmware fault, i'll check afternoon on flashed FTF.
As for free RAM, you can use 480p version of kernel, it gives 30MB extra free RAM, at cost of lower resolution at video recording (i personaly can't see the difference, and for me, 720p version recording is look like upscale of 480p recording)
I don't have real racing 3, and most RAM intensive game that i played was SIMS freeplay

Guess what, i just checked on a Xperia Mini Pro with stock official ICS, no root, nothing modified and...the bug browser is here as well!
This Xperia Mini Pro has 4.1.B.0.587 but Hybrid Rom use the same build and has no bugs. How is that?

Thanks for info, it means it's firmware's bug. And i notice it's not just shortcut, it open two tabs from every aplication that have links who open browser (Timescape and XDA, for example).
Ps: Well, Krisdee is great dev, i'm sure he fix that bug.

I have no idea why it's working in Krisdee's ROM and why it's not working in SE official firmware...
But it's just small bug. Not so important IMHO
This don't help?

[ROM] AOSP Kitkat 4.4.2 - PRE-ALPHA 1- 01/03/2014-Unlock Bootloader Only

Hello too all the "legacy and low activity devices" users
I'd like to share you something that will allow x10 to live a little bit longer ...
So here it is ... Kitkat is here !
The bug list is quite long but I wanted to share with you this preview ...
DOWNLOAD it here
What is working and not ?
Working : hmmmm it boots that's the most important
Not working :
sd Mount : problem in kernel compilation against rom
recovery access : same reason as above
wifi : kernel / device tree to fix
camera
sound : kernel to fix
...
The ftf file I share comes with 3.0.8 kernel BUT Ion memory manager is not working ...have boot problems with it ..
Hope you"ll enjoy it even if it's just a pre-alpha version but I promise to do much better.
Thanks to Evervolv team for their amazing work, CM Team, Scritch007 for his 4.3 device tree I used and avoid me days of work and of course Achotjan and Feravolt for their advices
Note : Flash this file only if you know what you're doing ...
The sources will be available asap, once I fixed some few stuff (repo sync etc ...)
SOURCES
To compile with PMEM memory management :
android_device_semc_es209ra-pmem-version
To compile with ION memory management (not booting yet)
android_device_semc_es209ra-ion
KitKat is known to run on lower-end devices, but X10 don't have the required 512MB* of RAM.
Anyway, good job.

ah sh*t, you're first .. Nice job.. thank you
Do you have source files? I wanted to try on LegacyXperia builds..

Thanks

Great
Thanks for stay developing this is awesome!!!:crying::crying::crying:

Did you just flashed the ftf file I uploaded or something else ?
AnTuTu, Android 4.4.2 and X10i
I installed SetCPU, ES File Explorer, Root Explorer, Business Calendar, FSP2D and even started to install Google Play Store.
Didn't notice any apps outright failed. Google play probably needs correct infrastructure in place to work.
I was trying to be slack and install an old Google play and then have it detect it was old and re-install all the new correct stuff. Failed
Root Explorer and ES File Explorer are very usable with Alpha Android 4.4.2.
Didn't change or save any files so not absolutely sure on that part but root access is supported.
I can confirm 3G and HSDPA are functional at some level.
AnTuTu runs and returned 3045 clocked at 1190MHz.
Both 2D and 3D graphics are a long way from supporting high level applications.
FSP2D returns 32FPS stdev=4.77
But, all this may be taking the mickey out of the Alpha phase as there is still much work to be done on the core drivers before noob users should be even allowed to touch it.
Top marks to @Tof37 and those supporting him, as this is one small step for Tof37...but a giant leap for the XPERIA X10i
At last its here Great Job:good:
good job mate! its good to see that 4.4 booted perfectly on X10.
there are a little problems in rom. clock, settings, launcher works fine(launcher gives fc on walpaper change)
phone dials up fine, but there's no audio neither the mic works.
browser gives black screen but i am sure it is connected to internet and loads stuff.
proof it loads stuff(i dont know how i got this but phone froze after this window)
sd card, camera doesnt work as stated in OP
ram status with many apps cached
and btw after tapping for sometime on build nnumber, it said i am a developer... what does that mean?
i'll be looking forward to further releases...
Thanks for a KitKat break

C5 ultra optimization

SO since we have successfully rooted and unlocked the phone
its time to finally optimize the performance and user experience for the phone
so post your suggestions, experiments or tweaks you already know .
so starting off first will obviously be the removal of stock apps and also the crashmonitor.apk
i also use setCPU for screenOFF and gaming profiling and governor switching
I still am not sure which i/o works best, cfq or any else so suggestions are welcome
i am trying some tweaks to so will update soon
CHEERS !
Greenify for battery optimization!
Also Flashing Xposed and running several mods. I highly recommend Apps Ops Xposed. You can manually select any apps/system apps and prevent them from causing wake locks/alarms and draining battery...
Hey i tried to use a custom bootanimation .. Replaced the file .. Gave permissions.. But it doesn't work...
So can anyone upload the stock bootanimation.. Or any working one if anyone has modified it?
well did remove the crash monitor.apk doesn't break the phone?

Nope it doesn't break the phone... I deleted it coz it was continuously running in background and eating both ram and cpu
Also even though i change the resolution of the device.. I still can't get acceptable performance in asphalt 8... It still lags... :/ on high settings

there you go mate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3285521
Well since i have rooted my C5 for fews days...from first time,i forgot to clear the (recovery.from.boot.p) and the phone lost the TWRP recovery on first time..and then i try to reformat and reroot again but this time i went in to system/ and clear the (recovery.from.boot.p) and flash supersu ver 2.66 (not provided by Bigrammy. It went smooth on few trys without any problem and i can reboot to recovery mode...but after i install busybox, the recovery become lost.At first i thought is the superSU not compatible with our device C5..and i went again to reformat and unlock bootloader and flash the recovery once more.....and the conclusion is the recovery won't stick as it seems to be after flashing.
It sticks for me... Try reflashing and repeating the steps?

Seems that HK themer is for older sony devices and some more our devices chipset is mediatek..quite hard to theme i think
I even downloaded the xperia themer from sony dev world.. It offers very basic theming.. So it's also a no go...
Anyway.. Any luck increasing the performance?

Me too. I'm with version 5.0, rooted and will not bother updating until Marshmallow 6.0 is released & ROOTED!
Until then I'd rather have 5.0 rooted than 5.1 unrooted. I have many apps requiring root and also use Xposed. I cannot live without root.
