[Q] Help flashing ROM's - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hi guys, got a couple of issues flashing ROM's. I'll list what what steps i've taken so hopefully someone might be able to help out.
Sony Xperia Ultra Z C6833 / KitKat 4.4.4 / Build - 14.4.A.0. 108
1) Enable USB Debugging/Unknown sources then run Easy Root.
2) Backup TA Partition with Backup TA.
3) Run and install Dual Recovery.
(Please note that my Bootloader cannot be unlocked)
4) Try to install a ROM that doesn't require boot.img. Wipe data/cache/dalvik then install ROM. ROM seems to install fine, reboot to a black screen.
Then I have to restore with Sony PC Companion. I must be missing a step/doing something wrong and it's doing my head in. The stock Sony OS is O.K but the amount of useless bloat is unwarranted and I want to get rid.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you make wipe data/factory reset? Wothout it olds rom data will stay and wont let rom boot

Run full wipe(system, data, cache, davilk cache)

Wait...
So your bl can't be unlocked? Can you still install rom (zip) from recovery? Wiping data, cache and dalvik? And then load the zip?

[Q] Will a full wipe in recovery wipe the rom, too?

I'm selling my phone and wonder if a full wipe will take out the rom too. Any takers on this noob question?
No, a full wipe will erase only the apps installed (and its data too), but the cROM will persist.
Thanks for the help, Rober
select mounts and storages and wipe(format) system.
that depends on the rom really. Doing a factory reset on some custom rooms will clause a boot loop as it removes some files need for the rom. Best bet would be to do a full wipe and reinstall the rom before you reboot.

He said he has a locked bootloader, and the Real ICS is supposed to work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders, you even have an option to pick whether yours is locked or unlocked during installation.
I have the same problem. My LWW device has blocked bootloader (unlock not allowed), and was running rooted stock 4.0.4 .587 prior to update.
After installing Real ICS r5.2 I'm stuck on the Sony logo.
After installing Real ICS r6 it gets stuck in a bootloop (Sony logo-->Boot animation-->Restart)
Luckily I can still boot into recovery and restore my rooted stock ICS. Later I will try flashing the Real ICS Lite version, though I really wanted the full version.
Since I cannot post in the development section I'm asking you guys to help, please.
Additional info:
- I wiped user data, cache, dalvik cache before updating.
- I don't want to unlock my bootloader (again the Real ICS is supposed to work on locked BL too)
- Yes my stock ICS was rooted, had CWM Recovery installed, backups created.
EDIT: Problem solved, apparently you need to manually format /system along with /data, /cache and /dalvik cache before flashing!

[Q] Help please!! Boot loops after installing Zelly Cream v1.20

Please help!! I have searched all over this forum but i still can't find a solution to my problem
First of all, I'm still new in android modding so please forgive me if I don't have sufficient information regarding this question.
I have an Xperia neo, with the original ICS firmware (4.1.B.0.587), locked bootloader, rooted with this method http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/97327
and I use the CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2 from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364509 because my phone won't go to the recovery mode if I use the x-parts CMW package
I have tried installing the Zelly Cream v1.20 custom rom by following the exact instruction for locked bootloader, which is :
Installation instruction for Zelly Cream FULL ROM
Before installing this rom, make sure you have a complete nandroid backup and you
have performed all the necessary steps, otherwise you may get bootloop. I will not be
responsible for any kind of damage or loss to your phone, do this at your own risk. Read
carefully and follow the steps to install the rom.
1. Reboot to cwm.
2. Wipe data/factory reset.
3. Wipe cache partition.
4. Wipe dalvic cache under advanced menu.
5. Wipe battery stats under advanced menu.
6. Format data under mount and storage menu.
7. Format system under mount and storage menu.
8. Format cache under mount and storage menu.
9. Install zip from sd card.
10. Follow the steps in aroma installer to install the rom.
11. Uncheck "Reboot device" after installation completed and click on next to go
back to CWM.
12. Now reboot your phone..

But my phone keeps rebooting (boot loops) so i had to reinstall the original ICS firmware using this method http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 . After that i re-rooted my phone, restored my nandroid backup, and tried installing Zally Cream v1.20 again. But I still get boot loops and now I'm getting desperate (so in summary i have bricked/boot looped my phone twice trying to install the Zelly Cream) :silly:
So can anyone please help me??
Any answer would be much appreciated. Thank you!!
After flashing stock firmware why did u restored nandroid backup??
Flash stock firmware using flashtool with full wipe
Root it, install cwm
Goto cwm & wipe cache, data, delvik cache, format system, data cache
Now flash the rom
Reboot

[Q] Downgrade from CM11 to Jelly bean 4.1.2

Hi guys im an xperia s LT26i user and i have an unlocked bootloader. Im currently running cm11 rom by raymanfx. The last time i tried to flash 4.1.2 rom i did NOT wipe system and i ended up getting a bootloop and soft brick. So if i am running cm11 and if i want to downgrade to 4.1.2 do i need to wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache? cache and dalvik is a must but if i wipe system and data will it work?
You should make a full wipe probably everytime you switch your ROM. So:
- factory reset
- wipe dalvik cache
- format system
So your entire system is clear and if this don't work flash latest Stock ROM first and then the ROM you'ld like to run on your phone

[Q] Wifi does not turn on

Hi, newbie here. I have trouble with wifi. My phone is Xperia P
I installed aospa rom, at the beginning everything was fine but few hours later I couldnt turn wifi on. I didint know what to do, so I just factory reset the phone. Same thing happened.
Then I installed Blur Line (CM 11) rom, same thing happened again.
On advanced setting it says Mac adress unavailable (idk if this is related with problem)
I searched google and xda for possible solutions.
solution 1 is installing sqlite editor and changing "wifi_display_on" value to 0
this didnt work because it was already 0
solution 2: settings/wi-fi/advanced/wi-fi region code
this didnt work too. I select Turkey (I live in Turkey) but whenever I exit settings and turn back none of the region is selected.
solution 3: copy WCNSS_qcom_wlan_factory_nv.bin file to somewhere
it is on motorola atrix hd thread, so idk if this can work for my phone too. I downloaded it but havent tried yet
Do you think it can work for my phone, or is there any "wifi fix file" for Xperia P
What sould I do now? Should I install another rom (slimkat, pacman, miui v5) or is there any solution for fixing wifi?
Thanks for replies.

My phone was on stock rom, rooted and cwm installed.
First I unlock bootloader via flashtool, then I flash the boot.img via flashtool
I flash the rom and gapps with cwm (wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset) but then I flash the rom with twrp (wipe data, cache etc) again.
i dont know if I wipe some important data
formerly I installed some stock base roms via cwm, and I didnt wipe anything extra this time
I backuped TA partition before unlock bootloader. Is wifi work if I relock bootloader and flash stock rom & kernel

Seems like some kernel modules are missing.
This is a sure method-procedure that I follow for flashing a new ROM on my and on my friends' XP.
1)flash stock JB firmware(ftf) using flashtool.
2)flash boot.img from the ROM you want to flash, using flashtool.
3)reboot in twrp using power button during boot up.
4)wipe data, cache, dalvik.
5)flash ROM + gapps and reboot.
