How do I disable the jelly bean popup notifiaction - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm running 4.1.2 happily rooted and customized how I like it, I don't want to upgrade at all but I get the popup on my phone every 12 hours and it cancels whatever app I was using at the time, I want to get rid of it. I did some searching and found you should attempt to rename or delete or move BlurUpdater_vzw.apk and the odex file in /system/app but I can only copy the app, can't rename or delete using es file explorer with root permission applied. So how can I disable this annoying popup?

[Q] How to flask apk

What is the nessary steps to delet a apk and replace with a new one using root explorer. I'm on a miui rom and i am having proplems sending and reciving a picture or a video. I have a fixed mma.apk to solve this proplem but not
sure on the proper steps to do this. I tryed to find this answer in different forums but no luck. Hopefully some one can give me the answer. (Thanks)
I don't know about root explorer, I've always used Terminal Emulator (It's free)
Then you can move or copy the mms.apk to the system folder.
cp /sdcard/Mms.apk /system/app/

That's just an example, and you'll need to use the command su first to gain root access. You'll have to point it to wherever the mms.apk is.
cp - copy
mv - move
I found when I did this before (Miui 1014 MMS worked for me just the way I flashed it), my messaging disappeared from the bar at the bottom, but reappeared with the apps. I just had to move the shortcut back to the bottom.

[Q] How to enable wireless hotspot on rooted AT&T One X+?

Subject says it all... I'm not on one of the new mobile share plans that allows for tethering. After rooting, I tried the wireless tether just to see and it still directs me to call AT&T to enable the hotspot feature. Is there a way around this by changing something in build.prop or freezing/deleting an APK that monitors the wireless tether?
Failing all that, is there a decent app anyone can recommend that accomplishes the same thing?
If you have supersu or similar installed, install fox fi or wifi tether from the Google play store. You need to grant it root privileges (it will automatically ask)
If market won't allow you to download it, I forget the work around on that.. Google it

Figured it out, had to tap Mount R/W in root explorer and allowed me to delete read only files. Problem is i deleted Street View with titanium backup and deleted the odex file via root explorer but now want to install it again. Problem is i can't install it because google play says it is already installed! How can this be? Did titanium backup miss some more files that are need to be deleted and where the heck can they be as they aren't in system/apps???
---------- Post added at 12:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 PM ----------
I even searched just the word "street" in Root Explorer and brought up some more hidden street view files and even an apk file. I deleted all these files so there is no more files on my device even with the word "street" in them (according to root explorer searching entire device), rebooted my device, signed out of Google Play and back in, Damn Google Play STILL says Street View is installed on my device!?! How, why? So confused on this, would think it would be such a simple task with these root tools???

Do you have the APK file for the HTC wifi hotspot as it's not on ATT version of HOX+
I used the same method as on the One X and used a SQL editor to modify the telphony.db. I will try to find the original post and get it posted. This will allow for the Stock hotspot to be active.
Awesome, thanks...

Enjoy.
If you run into issues, you will need to delete the values in the carriers_cache section and reboot.
Thank you very much sir... worked perfectly.
Here are the (modified) steps I used:
Install SQLite Editor by the makers of Root Explorer. Paid app, but worth the $3.
Find telephony.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases.
Find line 12 and change it from broadband to pta.
Reboot phone.
After that I just added the widget.
So which one works...deleting the HTC hot spot apk with root permissions and using Fox fi?
Or editing the app with the script editor and keeping the original HTC hot spot?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I didn't use Foxfi, just the built-in hotspot accessible through settings.
Gotcha, I'll try that but it sounds like if you can use root to delete the HTC hot spot it won't cost $3 :-$
Trying to confirm both methods in fact work
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Well, give it a try... there was another thread last night where someone rooted and then tried Foxfi and it still gave him the same message about contacting support to enable the hotspot. I think you'll more than likely need to edit the file. Does anyone know if the telephony.db file contains any private information or can I post the modified file here?
Ok two questions here that I'm struggling with.
A) I didn't have Fox fi OR es explorer ask for root rights, how do I make super user give them full rights?
B) I don't see anything that starts with /data in es explorer. It won't go into any directory above my /storage??
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you aren't really rooted. Do you have SuperUser or SuperSU in your app drawer?
I apologize..a quick Google search gave me instructions..simply go into settings to give yourself root access. Worked after
Now my problem is the "data" folder is empty.
And there's no data folder in the "system" or "sys" folders
Update: after giving ES explore the remaining root access "system", now I see everything in the data folder!
Will get the sq editor and try the fix soon heading out of town for weekend.
Thanks for all the help!

[Q] How to open terminal/ADB

Hi All,
I'm a complete noob when it comes to Android and am having difficulty following instructions to apply a volume hack to my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.04).
Note: I have managed to root my phone, and have ES File explorer installed. All text in full caps is mine.
Here's the link to the full instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1722136
Summary
1) Download attatched file ('default_gain.conf' inside 'VolumeMods.zip')
2) Use a file manager or ADB to push it to "system/etc" (back up existing file first!) I'VE GOT THIS FAR
NEXT STEP IS THE ONE I HAVE PROBLEM WITH - HOW DO YOU DO THIS?
3) From ADB or the Terminal do: HOW/WHERE DO YOU OPEN TERMINAL?
Code:
killall mediaserver
Just read the link you posted. You don't have to use terminal, just you es file explorer to push the file to where he stated, change permissions then just restart your phone. The only reason he said to use the terminal was to reboot the media scanner, but rebooting your phone does exactly the same thing. Hope I could help

You can long press on a file using es and I think you go to properties then change the file permissions from there, you would have to look up what the permissions need to be.

OK. I long press on default_gain.conf
It gives me the option to open as text.
I open using ES Note Editor.
There's a huge amount of text lines. Question, how do I scroll through the lines really fast? About 15% through file and can't find tick boxes you describe.
I have no idea how you can scroll any faster I'm afraid and when you go to properties on the file you should see a button that says change. You might not even have to do it, I'm not sure whether its just when installing an apk file.

if you have only the apk file for those apps you can just use root explorer and put them into system<app and reboot.
if you have the PROPER zip file (meaning all the configuration settings and stuff, not just the apk compressed in a zip) than place in root of sd card and select flash from sd card (as you do in custom ROMs) and select your zip file and install. make sure you have a proper zip file though cuz it can mess up your system if its not and youll have to restore if it does. and that reminds me, make a nandoird!

and dont use carbon it sucks (in my opinion). if you want it because it can upload to a cloud service, just use titanium backup and enable dropbox (or any cloud service of your choice) in the preferences.

Are you rooted? What file manager do you use? This is how I put this in place.
I use ES File Explorer on my S5 as file explorer. I placed the attached file (after extracted, the file is mixer_paths.xml) in my Download folder. I then copied the file with ES File Explorer and navigated to the folder /system/etc. I then renamed the existing mixer_paths.xml to mixer_paths.xml.bak (just to have a backup of the original so i could revert back if i wanted to) and copied the new file into that folder. i then verified the properties were correct (rw- r-- r--) and then rebooted the phone. test it out by playing a song before replacing the file and then test again after the file is replaced and phone is rebooted.
