[Q] should i get the Z2 ?? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello guys i want to buy a new device am coming fros the galaxy s2
and im considering buying a z2 or z3 or lg g3
i know the z3 is not very different from the z2 but is it good to buy it ??or the lg g3 ??
plz help me am really confuse right now

Z3 is a better but more expencive version of the Z2 however Z2 can do most of what Z3 can exept performance (thats software), camera and battery (all software problems)
(these arent huge differences)
(maybe between Z1 and Z2, Z2 is worth it but Z2 and Z3 if they are same price then go for Z3)
(Z3 is weaker than Z2 from what ive seen, it cant take as much of a drop or impact)
LG g3 is ok but its slugish which put me off it.

If you want the best performance go for htc one m8.
Unfortunatelly these days software is even more important than hardware.
Z2 is a great device, with good camera and useful features, but it will never be as fast as htc, although it has even better specs.
Lg g3 will be even slower. This huge ppi will make it lagg, as it's still uses the adreno 330.
So in my opinion go for z2, or z3 if it's got a good price.

[Q] [xperia SP] Upgrade anyone?

Hi,
For pretty much the same price, would you upgrade your Xperia phone (I'm on Sola currently) to a SP or to a ZL?
I've handled both in a store, and the smaller screen and very similar performance made me doubt the ZL. I came in to check/buy the ZL, but after seeing the SP (it's also a bit cheaper) I wasn't so sure anymore.
Any thoughts? Haven't seen a sub-forum for it in XDA, but I guess it's still early...
Specs place it under the ZL, but real-life use is not so much about specs.
Thank you,
Hajah
The ZL is pretty good and got a 13MP Camera Full HD Screen and Many RAM/Storage but the SP also awesome!!! But if me I would go for the brand new XPERIA Z.

[Q] Before I make the jump from iPhone

Currently I own an iPhone 5s. Love the thing all around, but android has a spot in my heart as being the first smartphone to own. I wanted the Necus 5, but after reading up on the Xperia Z1/2, I want one of these a lot more. Now I'm with t-mobile on the jump program, but my iPhone is about 60% paid off. I have a few questions here.
•Tmobile has the Xperia Z and Zs. I've read this was mistaken to be the Z2, but then I read the specs were slightly off. The Z2 being a little bit better, but not hundreds of dollars more. If I could I want the Z2, but it looks like the only way to get it is to buy the unlocked international version for the full $600, right?
•With that in mind for anyone who has made the switch from i5 to this phone or one of the too android phones have you regretted it all. I don't want to get the feeling of wishing I had my i5 back or paid it off first. Lol
•Speaking on the Z1s if any of you have one or have fooled with one, how much different is it than the Z2? If it's not noticeable then I wouldn't mind barring the jump plan and getting ahold of the Xperia Z that way. Oh and yes, I will be rooting, customizing and all things of the sort. It's why I love android so I have to do that. Wait, are there plenty of mods and stuff for both the Xperia or is it limited? I know my nexus 4 had a lot.
If you will buy a Sony phone, Z2 is the best and only choice as of now. The only Sony phone better than Z2 is Xperia C with its huge battery life but that's about it. T2 Ultra battery life is also good but it's too big for me. In spite of what people say, there is a big enough difference with Z1 and Z2 but if you already bought the Z1, then no need to upgrade unless you have extra cash. Z2 to Z3 might even have a smaller difference unless Sony puts their A game and surprises us with Z3.
If you're coming from Z, it's really worth upgrading to Z2 because it fixed all the flaws of Z even though the design of Z is a little better than Z2 for me.

I was referring to the Z1s though, not just the Z1. It seems to be what Tmobile got instead of the Z2, which is in other countries.
I have an iPhone 5, which is not really that different to the 5s. I jumped ship a while ago.
This is not the first time I tried to switch to android. I hated android before on Motorola milestone and galaxy s3, but I have to say I'm really loving this phone. Sure, at the beginning I kinda missed my iphone as I wasn't really used to it. After I got everything going, this phone has been great. I especially love the noise cancelling. (without it I wouldn't have purchased it at the first place) it works just as well as those dedicated noise cancelling headphones, in my opinion.
The only things I miss on my iPhone right are the smaller screen, imessage and iTunes. Big screen is not really my thing... 4.5-4.7 inch would have been perfect.
Every phone has its pros and cons. Long story short, I don't regret switching to it at all.

There isn't much difference between Z1 and Z1s so Z2 is still the better phone. Z1 should have been the Z2 if Sony didn't skimped on the specs. Sony could have stopped Samsung's momentum last year. But still a job well done for Z2. If you have a friend that has a Z2, try feeling it because it's really hard to judge the phone without seeing it personally.

Should I get this phone now (2015)?

Hello Guys!
I'm about to order this phone to substitute my 2013 Moto X. The main reasons (in order of importance) for me considering Z2 are the following:
-Battery Life
-Price
-Waterproof
-Camera
However I'm concerned about getting to know the opinion of well educated xda'ers who have owned this phone for longer now. Do you guys think I should get the Z2? How much would you recommend it?
More specifically: Are you satisfied with the latest stock firmwares? Are you still able to have a nice battery life / camera after flashing a custom ROM? Are Sony devices easy to unlock and root?
Thanks in advance.
I've not long since bought one. It's a flagship phone at midrange money now. The later ones (Z3, Z3+) don't bring any real changes over it to justify the price difference.
Sony are always late to the party with updates but it doesn't mean they fix the bugs! So hold off the latest version for a bit to let them catch up.
4.4.4 is well polished on the Z2 and well worth keeping for now. Get one, you won't be disappointed!

What he said, I switched to the Z2 from the OnePlus One, due to the amazing battery life (It really is insanely good)!!
Why are you still on Kitkat? I think Sony has done a great job with Lollipop on this thing

They changed the way Bluetooth works and it wouldn't pair properly with the Parrot system in my car. Also, I couldn't get a 3G signal with it and that's the best I can get where I live. Maybe these issues will be fixed in later builds, I'll try them from time to time.
To Charlie, no I've not tried rooting or any custom roms. I must be getting boring in my old age but I've been happy as a clam with 4.4.4
Z3 has less battery capacity than Z2 due to the fact that Z3 is a bit thinner than Z2. Go for Z2.
I would suggest Z3 over Z2 anyday.. Differences you ask?
- Better Display
- Better Camera + higher ISO
- Much better battery life
- Slim and better built
- Waterproof'ing improved
I'm not saying Z2 is bad, but Z3 is truly better in my opinion and from my usage when i used my friend's phone a lot of times.. I own a Z2 and i don't regret.. Although we have to agree there were too many defective units in Z2 while there are hardly any in Z3 series. Plus Z3 design is perfect and it has better build quality despite it being slim, its tough and waterproof is fault'less. Display is more sharper and better compared to Z2.. So i would suggest you to go for a Z3 right now..
Just some technical details
Z3:
7.1MM thick mesured (i think sony say 6.9)
3100mah battery
Upto 10hours SOT easily (acording to a couple Z3 owners i know)
Overal improvement of the devices hardware
Z2:
7.9mm thick
3200MAh battery
Upto 7hour SOT with heavy useage
If the difference is less than 80 euros go for the Z3 :good:

Z3C vs Z2 Which one to buy?

Hello there,
I need to buy a phone and am getting both Z3C and Z2 at similar prices. ($400).
I know the merits and demerits of both but am still confused. Also I owned a Xperia U (great dev support) but am unable to see any great dev support for both the z3 and Z2. I am a sony lover <3 Should I buy them or look forward to any other device with great dev support (OPO, OPT, G3 etc)
Thank You
If you want really really good dev support then go with the OPO. LG G3 has terrible dev support. ^^ But the SONY XPERIA Z2 or others or solid phones with good support. Only the camera isnt the best if you unlock the device s bootloader. Thats something important. I think in the end the size is the biggest point. Do you want a big or small^^ Smartphone it belongs to you. Sony has got sdcard slot. Also n important point i think. Or you could wait for the Nexus 5 2015, because then you would have the best dev support out here. gl
Hi, both the two choices are good ones, personally i own the Z2 & I can assure you its amazing, but the Z3+ have some amazing under the hood optimizations which are quite a kicker for this years devices, Also, you may have already heard, IFA is just around the corner & Sony will be releasing the new Xperia range, so in my opinion it would be wise to see what new is coming & then make your decision accordingly. Also generally the launch of new devices leads to a price drop in the previous iterations, so hang on a little (till 2nd September) atleast

Yes I agree with the fact that z3+ is quite a kicker but its too much over budget :/. I do plan to wait till 15 september and then choose wisely
Lg and Samsung are no go! I dont care about the camera because it will be a upgrade over my moto e anyways. I plan to wait till sep 15. I dont want to go to opo because its not sony

Surely go for Xperia Z2. It has a good development support in xda. Z3c has 2 gb ram, 720p display and 2600 mah battery. Z2 has 3 gb ram, 1080p display and 3200 mah battery.. They always get almost same featured firmware upgrade.. So why not go for the big and powerful one?
Well both are powerful enough!
Infact Z3C has a better backup than that of Z2. The extra ram is of no use at least today. Z3C is newer but its dev support seems worse than that of Z2.
I am confused lol
I remember you from Xperia U times
Z2 all the way. Bigger screen, bigger battery, same software features, more RAM.
I would go for Z2 if you want a bigger screen.
Z3Compact is smaller so much more compact, and its battery life is legendary.
Z2 has a great battery too, but Z3C has beaten all the records in this regard.
Yup that is the thing
Yap.. I also remember you.. @jatinrungta
Camera remains the same if you go back to stock and use DRM restoration.
@alone_in_dark
is it worth the phone today? since i am seeing no dev in z2 at all :/ while opo has a lot of dev support
For custom rom, Niaboc79 is there for Z2... you won't need anyone else.. And for other things.. Cross development section is there..

Broke my Z2 and it is unrepairable. Should I buy Z2 or Z3?

Hi guys!
Unfortunately I totally broke my Z2 a month ago, just by dropping it from my pocket (wow). Now I want to stuck with sony devices and I only have money for another Z2 or a Z3, they are the same price.Which one should I go for? I dont care about the +200MHz in the Z3. I don't like the speaker cut outs on the Z3 and the notification LED is also not really great, however the device is newer and the shape of it is better. Any opinions?
I definitly would choose the Z2, especially because of the more color accurate display, the Z3 has a horribly blueish tint (and yes, you could calibrate the whitepoint, but this reduces the maximum brightness and the contrast ratio).
I also read a lot of customer complaints about the glass on the rear of the Z3 just cracking out of the blue.

To be fair though, that also happened to my Z2.
Get the Z2... If you can wait till you have a little more money. Get a 6P

If you consider using flip case, get z3 as it has magnetic sensor.
If you don't care about it get z2. They are the same devices + you get awesome headphones ?

Both phones are going to be dead in the next months or so, no Android "N" for them. I would avoid them, but if you can only spend so much I would buy the Z2 again.
I wouldn't recommend buying both, since these devices are getting outdated soon. I love my XPERIA Z2, but like people say.... Other devices are a better choice right now.
All android devices will be outdated in a year or year and a half, what are you talking about? Why is that even relevant? If you deem a software update worth your 650 dollars then go for it, im fine with 5.1 and a little more money in my pocket for more relevant things than a smartphone toy.
Well I don't care about getting updates for the next 2 years. They will get android M and I will be completely fine.I don't want to pay much more for example a Z5.And of course I can always install a custom rom which is based on a newer android version.
Z2 but for me I wish I did get Z3 for dual sim so depend on your need.
I would buy a z3. It's unofficial development is a bit better than z2. But beside this I love the way look z2 if unofficial development is not that important to you buy an z2.
Z3 is better
