T-Mobile 4G LTE Crazy fast! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

OK, I am blown away at how fast T-Mobile 4G LTE is.
I get crazy speeds. Like over 85Mbps. I even get over 100Mbps at times. That's faster then my Comcast. LOL [emoji1] T-Mobile really does have the fastest 4G LTE in the Nation. I am loving T-Mobile service. Beats Sprint Spark LTE. Anyways what do you guys think? [emoji4]

Here's my speedtest,from Cumming,Georgia
sorry won't let me attach a photo!

That has yo be a temporary glitch. Dont get used to those speeds. I think they would advertise speeds like that. Best i get is 19 mbs.

I get high 70's in South East Texas

Mid 40s to low 70s constantly for me depending on where I am.

My speeds are definitely not the fastest in the world but they are pretty darn fast!!
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app

Seattle/Kent Washington area. Always get 60Mbps+ compared to Sprint Spark Fast Network at 12Mbps max. Lol Sprint really Blows! Lol ?

My speed test WiFi is Comcast with my own WiFi box and second pic is my abismal tmobile lte speed....

Sorry idk why it decided to upload images twice like that ...

I get around 50 down and 10ish up with my G900T on AT&T in Scottsdale, AZ.

Also, around 50. I'm in Lake Ridge, Northern Virginia -just 20 minutes from Washington DC. T-Mobile in the last year has really boost the speed in this area, a year ago I got less than 10 Mbps.

Hahaha this is what I get . Im in Georgia south of Atlanta
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app

I get close to that depending on what part of my city I'm in. Normally I get high 20's to low 40's.
Considering network load during the daytime, that's pretty good for most carriers. At night I can go above 70.
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Free mobile app

These are indeed crazy numbers. Only after the recent software upgrade did my speeds go up into the mid 20's. I tried multiple phones in the last year and a half trying to get higher than 5-7 mbps. Just gave up and pegged it to being in a low spot at my residence (?). I posted here that I thought that a trip to the USVI summer before last had screwed up my data speed on Tmo's side. They told me twice that my settings on their end were screwy.
I'm not a power user so never really had performance that I was unhappy with overall. I love my S5. I have been seeing these low speeds when I check with Speedtest. Just got a refurbed Note3 (which I like a lot) and my speedtest tells me it is giving me between 13 and 24 over 4 tests. I'm happy with that.
Have never in nearly two years of LTE here seen anything over 28 mbps, so 80 is pretty impressive indeed.
Also a question-My Speedtest app's "odometer" tops out at 50mbps.......?

wish I could get that high of speed
Usually only get 18Mb/sec down and 7 up. Called them and they said it was pretty much the only tower north of the river here in Kansas City that was LTE enabled. YAY me...../sarcasm
Over my wifi, I get the usual 100Mb/sec down and 6 up as that is what I pay Time Warner for. So no complaints there.
Using Twizted Lollipop 5.0 V1 as well on my S5.

Super fast.

Cali speed suks. ..

From home I get 70+... fastest speedtest was 106mbps. So insane and way faster than the 40mbps with comcast which I always thought was unbeatable in the area.

So anyone getting throttled for downloading torrents or other stuff. A few months ago I posted a link saying tmobile would throttle your data if they find out your using your unlimited 4g Lte to download stuff. Well it's been a few months and I'm still going strong. I still can't believe Tmobile Is faster then Comcast. That's just crazy. Wonder how Sprints data service is going. Lol not the Spark network is complete crap. Sprint Says The Spark is the nation's fastest data service. They must be smoking to much crack. Because I know some people that have Sprints Spark LTE data service and it can't even get 10Mbps most of the time. And the data goes off and on all day long. I even tried Sprint Spark network with the Galaxy s5 and after a week I gave it back and switched back to tmobile. So T-Mobile Rocks!

I can confirm that I too get pretty fast speeds. I was blown away a few days ago with these results!
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1221557718
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1221559756
And of course this is with my S4. I just bought my S5 today since my S4 broke today.

Sprint Customers, what are your 4g speeds?

So I will be changing from my Vibrant to the Evo 3d. I'm kinda concerned about some of the reports about sprints 4g wimax download speeds. Some of them say they get an average of 1.5mb/s.
My Galaxy S gets 5 mb/s in a good spot, and about 1 to 1.5 mb/s at home. I live just north of Atlanta so I should be getting 4g at my house.

here in new orleans we dont have 4G, But we have a great 3g network. I get a consistent 1050-1120 kbps no matter what time of the day I or where I test. I guess the benefits of having 3 highways run straight through the city and as you may know we had a little hurricane come by and wipe everything out. It took a year to get back 3G here. You would think that they would have just put up the wimax system then ( late 2007), but maybe it was not in phase yet. Durring the hurricane the only system that stayed up and running was sprint. Everyone else was out of order and it left thousands without a way to communicate.
Anyway my pops lives in a suburb of Chicago and when I was there I got 4G speeds of 3mbps at his house, and 2.2 - 6mbps in the city depending on if I was outside or inside.

Wow...crazy ranges there that I'm calling BS on without proof.
I'm in Chicago and have seen 5mb/s on my EVO once or twice...usually it's right around 2mb/s (very, very sad, since I could do more than that on 3G back in Iowa).
On my Overdrive, on a good day, it'll get up to 6mb/s but if I stay there too long they'll kill my connection (yes, no throttling, just straight up kill the connection).
I have also used 4G in Dallas, Seattle, Kansas City, and I believe somewhere else (Tulsa??) and they're all about the same speed. If anything, i would say Dallas was the fastest (maybe up to 6-7mb/s on my Overdrive).
All I know is the 4G on the EVO is horrible. I played with a Thunderbolt (Verizon, obviously) and it was doing 10+mb/s constantly on Internet Speed Test. If it weren't so expensive to have two data lines with them, I would've made the switch a couple months ago when my contract was up....

That really isn't that good bro....
Sure you hit just under 10 Mbit ONCE (change speedtest in settings to Mbit, not kbps) but there is ZERO repeatability, most of what you show is 3-4Mbit.
I've actually downloaded a file while tethered and got just over 1.1Mbit download speed (about 1300kbps) and it held that speed for the entire 2 gig d/l.
Umm, it was a linux iso.....yea, that's it.
Remember, there is bits and bytes and a k is 1024, not 1000 and stuff....
My Evo 4g and my Evo3d both did about the same speed and my Tmo Vibrant would run at 7-8 Mbit and NEVER fluctuate from that.
I do agree that the radios are much improved over my EVO OG
I can connect to 4g at my house where the clearwire maps show coverage but my evo or my wifes epic could never connect
My data streams are much more consistent as well.
I am hitting those speeds pretty much every time I speed test at that location- and sometimes faster.
Signal strength is generally improved as well and with the latest update I am a believer in the better wifi signal too
Wimax is really a joke. I mean its better than nothing but still, my friend from Finland got to try out an upcoming wireless carrier. He downloaded off their LTE network for 49 megabits per second. THAT IS FASTER THAN MY CABLE CONNECTION!
I don't think our radios really have an effect on the download speeds, I believe that for now, that what you are seeing is the limitation of our bandwidth.
Lol wimax is not a joke you seem to think the speed of the layer 2 wireless link between the phone and tower is the slow leg
Ever think it the carrier internet pipe an traffic

yeah, here in houston tx im getting 8.5Mbps on 4G and just over 2Mbps on 3G. Im very happy finally seeing the 6-10MBps mark for the 4G. on my EVO, i never used the 4g bc it was a batt killer, slow to connect, and didnt give much more speed. max i ever saw with my EVO was 4-5Mbps in the same location im seeing 8.5 on the Photon. def a great phone!
Its about time sprint offered a worldwide android phone, and ever better yet, its a MOTO. Ive wanted a moto for 10 years now. always used and loved the durability of the MOTO phones with nextel. they can take a beating in the field. Plus MOTO has been in realations with android since the beginning and they got their stuff down. I
Ill fight with any bugs on this phone and super excited to see what the DEVs are able to do with the code. there will and is faster fonest out, but more speed will chew more power. I think with this cpu, and battery life, GSM and CDMA radios, this phone has a LOOONG life and a long way to go. i hope she grows more interest to people and stays around for a long time. so far, im a happy MOPHO user
Im looking forward to traveling. last two months i spent alot of time in japan and Malaysia. def looking forward to buyin a SIM card, slappin it in and having good cell signal instead of climbing a 20+ story building to catch a faint cdma signal from who knows where lol

What speeds should I be getting with LTE?

As the title says what are the speeds I should be getting. I am in the Los Angeles, O.C. area and with speed test at anytime I can get anywhere from 4Mbps to 20Mbps with it generally hovering around 7-8Mbps. I thought LTE was suppose to be a good deal faster than GSM 3G, which is suppose to be around 3-7Mbps. Now is speeds I get normal, or is there something wrong? If there really is something wrong, what are my options? Thanks.
That is average it just depends how many people in your area are using you network I've seen up to 27mpbs during off peak times but average 5-10 during the day

Should be greatful, here in the UK we are lucky to get 6mb from a home broadband connection.

Then what is this that I see people showing they get like 23+Mbps and that is like normal for them. I spoke to a Verzion tech and said 5-10Mbps is normal, but it would be advised to go into a local store and compare speeds with another Rezound model just to double check and see if my phone is working normally.
i average about 13-15 mbps down and about 1mbps up and thats in phoenix
and look at there ISP on the speedtest things its not through verizon
I average around 13-20mbps download and 3-8mbps upload and i live in central florida.
Honestly, I get 20 to 30+ in baltimore city at all times. At work in the building that blocks Tmobile and sprint signal I get.. Like 15?
Best I got was at the inner harbor at pf changs, got like 44mpbs.

I'm in the Metro Detroit area and we have 4g pretty much everywhere. With a weak signal I get 3-6 down and 1 up, but when my signal is strong I get between 13-16 down and 10-13 up. Oddly enough, though I get a better signal on average with the rezound than when I had galaxy nexus, the galaxy nexus seemed to pull higher speeds when it did have a good 4g signal. I topped out around 35 down and 20 up with the galaxy nexus. It couldn't hold a 4g signal like the rezound does though. It would kick back to 3g off and on.
They are not advertising a speed yet because it changes so much due to demand and infrastructure. I have gotten over 60 mbps. But average 30mbps. The larger your city, the higher the demand. I live by Notre Lame so demand isn't as high as your big cities. Give it a year or 2 I'm sure they will sell speed based packages instead of bandwidth like cable does.

im getting about the same thing here in greensboro
I get around 15mbps in Central NJ (New Brunswick). When I went up to NYC I was getting about 20mbps.
It really depends on how close you are to the tower and how many people have LTE in your area.
I'm about an hour outside of Houston and I average 25-30 down and 10 up.
So then my speeds are typical for a large metro area, like where I am located?
3g GSM's specs say it can allow 3-7mb/s, but I bet most people out there with 3g devices pull about 700kb/s to maybe 1mb/s in a place with a strong signal. I had an Incredible 2 before this phone and the fastest internet speed I had was 1mb/s standing next to a tower. LTE is lightyears ahead of 3g. I personally think 7-8mb/s is great, not outstanding, but for surfing the web, downloading ROMs, and watching videos its more than enough for most. The 20mb/s + speeds are more for show than anything...
In Hollywood CA I get around 15-20 mbps up and 10-15 mbps down

verizon governing 4g?

I got a text from Verizon this morning I was at 75% of my monthly allowed data. Ever since then my 4g has only been getting about .5gbs download speed. They fix network issues pretty quick here so I don't think it's that. Do you think they are governing my speed down?
I don't know, I'm no where near my cap and just tested my 4G speed and was only getting 0.17M download. Complete garbage.
I haven't really tested it since the OTA updated the radio, possible that messed it up?

That's just Verizon 4G IMO. Our LTE here is complete garbage. Down all the time, constant drops, and the 4G just stops in the middle of downloading or browsing and pauses with no activity. I hate LTE.
I think something might be going on with Verizon. I'm on an unlimited plan and still have only hit about 5gb so far this month anyway, but for some reason today I have had horrible 4g speeds. I can't even listen to Google Music right now because it just keeps stopping to buffer.
It's probably just the 4G in your area man. Some people get great speeds while others get complete garbage. Hopefully in time they will improve their standard of 4G service for all.
I was getting about 40gbs now I'm down to about. 2 rediculous

I think I might call them tomorrow to find out and if so i am definitely going to protest it. I've used 4.107gbs out of 5 now and and my monthly cycle is only days away.
My 4G has been excellent in the past. I've gotten as high as 28M down and 14M up. But I haven't ran any speed test since before the OTA update till today. Today I only got 0.17M down. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it does in the next few days.

Also, before the OTA my wifi at home would do 15M down, which is what my cable speed is. Now it won't do over 5M down, while my laptop does the full 15M. I think the new radio update is cutting the speed.

I'm under the impression that when you get throttled, it's only if the tower you are on is under heavy load. Also, I'm sure they are not going to throttle you until you get into the top percentage of data users, and your on an unlimited plan. Att throttles there heavy users all the time, Verizon only when you are on a tower running close to capacity. This is all just what my understanding is, not an actual fact.
possibly throttling for me as well, I was at 20gigs
I dropped LTE briefly today in Michigan.
Still getting 30mbs down and at 17gbs used so far on unlimited. Netflix and Rom downloads to get me through the school day
there is no throttle if you are on a tiered data plan. however if you are on an unlimited, while it has not been done yet... VZW does have the right to slow you or whomever to a slower share of speed if the tower/network path is overcrowded. However, we are no where near capacity anywhere. capacity isn't the issue, it is just the coverage isnt as strong yet since the primary goal is full coverage of 3g footprint, then making signal stronger, overlapping etc...
I'm on unlimited and I am currently at 11gb data used with couple days left and just tested speed and have 15.5 up 11.6 down. I think it depends how much is being pulled from the tower at any given time.

Slow LTE speeds

I have been getting really slow data speeds in the Los Angeles area. I used to have the Galaxy S2 (i777) and it had decent speeds (usually 2-3 Mbps and sometimes up to almost 11). When I upgraded to this phone, I was hoping to get around 5 or 6 Mbps but I get this instead.

What phones did you come from and what has your experience been with data speeds? What city do you live in? Have you played around with the APN settings to increase speeds?

I am on the 2gb data plan and it says I have 1.9 left. I rarely use At&t data since I am connected to WiFi 80-90% of the time.
Speeds are faster early in the morning or later in the day around afternoon and also night time. It's just really slow during the day. I guess the network is just congested but it was never this bad when I was on my old phone.
Make sure you are connected to the closest server in the server list, sometimes it messes up and gives you one thousands of miles away, which result in low speeds.

All lte at my house except one 3g test as you can obviously see.
I think you may want to check apn or call att. That might resolve your issue
I had to do that twice in one year due to some technical beef my phone did not register with their servers after resetting.
Portland oregon
around most of Dallas I get 12-20Meg ... in some places 30-40Meg+
the only time I got terrible speed was when I tried using the LTE toggle. but that was easily fixed.
I hate you guys, such fast speeds.
I shot AT&T an email and this was their response.... not sure if it is true or if it is just the normal reply they give when people ask about data speeds.
"Thank you for contacting AT&T about your wireless service. I will be
more than happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding your data
speeds today.
I'm sorry to hear of your data speed issues on the new LTE network, and
am glad to look into that for you. I do see several tower issues being
worked on in your area, which started a couple of weeks ago. They are
planned to be resolved by 12/30/2012. There are also planned upgrades to
the existing towers there too. I have now sent in a network quality
report to our engineers to make them aware of the impacts this is
having. They do use these reports in network planning also.
If you have any additional questions about this issue, please respond to
this email. Thank you for choosing AT&T; we appreciate your business."
Ask them if your data plan is compatible. The Bestbuy website, when I ordered, said that I must upgrade from my 2GB 4G data plan to the 3GB LTE data plan. There was no getting around it. Maybe you have to have the 3GB data plan to use LTE. Although it does look like your connected just fine.
