Regarding magnetic charging of Xperia Z3 - Xperia Z3 Accessories

I wanted to buy a magnetic charging adapter. Could anyone please let us know about the performance of magnetic charger adapter? Is it charge fast or slow compared to micro USB charger cable? It would be great if you could share your experiences on using the respective brands of magnetic charging adapter so that I can choose the best one.

If you use the cable and the adaptater given with the phone...
Then for me it's the same thing with the DK48 and the live view case

Using a car charger with a magnetic charging cable

Just thought I'd let people know of my experiences using a car charger with the USB magnetic charging cable. I have a 2.1 amp dual port USB car charger and also a Sony magnetic charging cable from my CP12 battery cover. I tried using the magnetic charging cable plugged into the car charger this morning and attached the magnetic charging end to my Xperia Z Ultra. The phone was on around 24% and started charging pretty quickly up until around 40% within probably 20mins. This is quite fast for this particular car charger as it seemed to take ages when I used to use it to charge my HTC One X with a normal micro USB cable. Anyway after it hit 40% I noticed it had stopped charging. I had a look at the charger and the power LED was off so I went to pull it out to check and noticed it was very hot! Not sure if it blew a fuse or went into thermal overload shutdown but I definitely think that it isn't really rated at 2.1amp.
Has anyone else had experiences using a car charger to charge their Xperia Z Ultra? I might just try the micro USB cable next time but I liked how quickly it charged with the magnetic charging cable.
I haven't tried it but I think the problem is the magnetic cable that you are using.

I'm actually very impressed that you were able to get the magnetic cable to stay. If I am able to get the cable to stick, I can't even breathe around it.

Hi Julz,
I hope your device is ok. I was using a similar charger in my car. Had two USB slots. 1amp and 2.1amp.
I'm not sure what cause it, or what happened. But I've had to send my Ultra to the store where I bought it. For some reason my device did that same as you describe. It also wouldn't stop the LED from showing. Meaning that it thought it was charging all the time. (even when not plugged in)
Now amps should be fine. Its the volts that you have to worry about. I posed a thread about batteries that talks about amps volts and how to look after your device... take a look

I have been using my Magnetic charging cable ( I pulled out of my Sony DK30 )
in my car for over a month with the Griffin PowerJolt Micro & have not had a
single issue with the phone or the charger . here are the specs & a pic of the charger .
Technical Specifications
Input: 12 volts DC
Output: 5 volts DC at 2.1 amps
Output power: 10 watts link to charger .

Yeah I think the generic no name chargers probably lack quality circuitry to regulate the charging properly. I'm hoping the Xperia Z Ultra has some decent built in charging protection to prevent issues with minor spikes or fluctuations. Brand name chargers like griffin should be ok.
Similarly, been using the magnetic cable with a griffin car adapter without any problems since I got my unit.

Umi Z charger

Hello all,
My Umi z charger cable has broken. Tried charging with One plus 3T charger but it doesn't work.
Anybody can recommend what charger cable shall work and where it shall be available?
I have no problem charging with any mix if cable and charger ..even standard USB chargers with adaptor to c fitting
Any decent USB A to USB C cable should work.
Use Nexus's usb cable
I have a Nexus 6P and I use the tiny cable they gave with the phone to charge Z pro with my laptop.
It charges pretty quickly with that cable on my laptop. But yea any decent cable would do. You can also order chargers on Umi's website.
I use this cable...
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01MY27YKY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
In principle, however, every cable should be suitable.
Make sure it is suitable for data transfer and loading.
Some cables have too much resistance, and then the charging time increases.

$14 Vehicle Fast Charger and $10 Micro USB to USB C Adapter with Lanyard

I purchased this vehicle fast charger for my Note 5 and it works great to fast charge my Note 5. It has a coiled cord, which I really like, and an LED light that helps you to see at night that you are orienting the micro USB plug properly. It is OOS on Verizon:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/acc...er-with-fast-charge-technology-for-micro-usb/
But It looks identical to this one on Amazon that has a 2 year warranty:
https://www.amazon.com/Strong-Chargers-Charger-Dependable-Motorola/dp/B06WP71XSP
I purchased this $10 micro USB to USB C adapter to use with the vehicle fast charger I already have and it works great to fast charge my S8. I like that I can have both a micro USB and USB C charger in one since my bluetooth earpieces are all micro USB. The laynard makes it nice to stay attached to the charger so I don't have to go looking for it.

Looks like they sell it on Amazon too:
https://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Micro-USB-Type-C-Adapter/dp/B01MU9DF60
It's a bit pricey at $10 but it works to fast charge my S8 so I didn't have to buy a new charger and it also allows me to have 1 charger in my car for all of my devices.
If you have Amazon Prime and get both the vehicle fast charger for $14 and the adapter for $10, it would come to $24, which is not bad for a vehicle fast charger that can charge both micro USB and USB C devices. The coiled cord is really nice IMO and so is the LED light for when you are charging a micro USB device.

Choetech Wireless Charger & HDMI Adapter

So the people over at Choetech was kind enough to allow me to test and review their wireless charger and hdmi out adapter. I've had both items for about a week and I'm always honest about my reviews. I prefer the pro's vs con's review style so here's my thoughts. You can also check out the video
Wireless Charger:
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Cha...946&sr=1-6&keywords=choetech+wireless+charger
Pro's
Cool egg shape design with simple resting ledge for the phone. The charger has vents on the back to prevent overheating. Fast charging works which is awesome sauce, and there's a LED indicator to show when the phone is charging. The phone charges in landscape or portrait mode. The unit is only $20, hard to beat that.
Con's
No wall adapter is included in the box, so if you want to take advantage of fast charging you need to use a fast charging wall adapter. I used the one that came with my S8 Plus. Another negative in my book is the charger cable is micro usb. With all phones moving to usb type c, it's annoying needing multiple cables. But this is something that will exist for many products for years to come, so I would buy this charger still.
HDMI & PD adpater:
https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Adapter...&qid=1505923962&sr=1-4&keywords=choetech+hdmi
I don't really have any cons about this cable. There's not much to discuss to be honest. There's a usb type c on one end that plugs into your usb type c device, and the other end has hdmi & pd out. I've tested the cable with my Matebook (Hauwei) and my Note 8 and both worked.
