Leather Band Adapter - Samsung Gear Fit

I've been working on a leather band adapter, will have them posted for sale in a couple of weeks. Have been wearing my prototype for a couple of weeks, plan to have them in either plastic or stainless steel. I have a couple of design changes I want to make, but it's been nice having a regular leather band again. The design still allows the charger to connect also.

The guy who was going to do this for the gear s seems to be MIA. If you pick up on that there's a TON of demand already.

I would be extremely interested in one of these myself.

Any progress on this? I'm actually in the market for a stretchy/elastic band, so it's always snug and I don't have to worry about latching it...

Verus Iron Shield case

Does anyone have this case for their G3? If so how do you like it? This is the case I am talking about. I want to get it but hesitant because I want something thin and I like the aluminum frame. If someone does have it and does not want it LMK and ill buy it or trade for a brand new otterbox defender case. :good:
I'm curious about this case as well seems this company mimicks spigen (Thor=slim armor, iron shield =neo hybrid) but their cases appear to be high quality since spigen doesn't make a neo hybrid for the g3 I'm really debating on getting this case

Verus
I had the Spigen Slim Armor case Black. It was a nice fit and very low profile. It also had an extra hold on the plastic so Im not sure if it is truly for G3. I sent it back and got the Verus. This case is very similar to the Spigen and has a perfect fit. It is slim and has a thin metal frame around it. Making it look very nice. I would say these are the best two cases out there and I would say the Verus is number one. The metal frame makes it standout.
I would send a few pic. here.
I've got the Versus satin case. I had to run some sandpaper along the cutout edges to knock down the sharp edges (top) and bottom, but nice case and not slippery like the one I picked up at Verizon.
It takes a bit to remove it tho so not for the person who likes to swap batteries.

The hole is for the Korean variant of the G3. Spigen made the decision to make all of their cases "universal", so they all have the hole. That why I went with Verus and got the Thor. The Thor is nice, but it also adds significant bulk and weight. I've ordered another case to try out.
I have spigen slim armour with no hole. You need to buy the us version of the case
When I was talking to the VZ rep that was helping us when we were getting the LG G3, he showed me his Spigen case that is similar to the Iron Shield. He loved it but the "metal" frame around the headphone and charging port kept cracking. For something that is metal, it breaks easily.

Must not have been the slim armor one. Mine has the soft rubber/tpu on top/bottom of phone and there is no metal around the port holes

I got it at my local Verizon store so I have no link. There are also reviews on Amazon that other people have gotten the US version as well with no hole.

got mine a few days ago - it's thing and light - the metal seems solid enough (the edges are a little sharp though). No extra hole. has an S5-like back with those little dimples. Got it in black with the silver rim.

oh shucks. i got amazon one and it has hole for the clear case that is
Just ordered this case after reading about it here and watching a couple of reviews on youtube.
Pretty excited about this one. It looks great, has pretty good protective features and is still relatively inexpensive. Just purchased on amazon directly from verus for 19.99 plus 2 for shipping and zero tax.
Should have it within a week.

I bought this case at first I like it but I noticed with the case on my signal dropped down to 1 bar from 5 bars and my download speed went from 15 Mbps download speed to less than 1 Mbps it took me about a week to figure this out as to who would think that the case would block the signal but it does I spent countless hours on the phone with Verizon trying to figure out what was going on then just by chance when I was switching the dim cards back and fourth from my g2 to my g3 to see if it may be the phone I noticed that my signal was fine until I put the car back on so don't buy this case hopefully this will help anyone thinking of buying this case

Yeah I was going to get this before unread the same thing in a few reviews. Battery killer.
I have the exact same case that you link to, OP. It has already survived a fall with just a little ding on the metal band around the case. I haven't noticed any drop in signal or battery life while using this case.
I got this case yesterday and have to say that I don't like it at all. As others have said, the metal is sharp in places and the signal does drop. I went from getting 4G in my home to 3G after putting the case on. Once I took it off, it went back to 4G. If anyone wants to buy one for cheap, let me know.
I just received the verus iron shield the other day too and I love the look and feel.
On this thread, I believe, and elsewhere I read some people were seeing some signal degradation due to the metal frame.
This made me sensitive to this and I've been trying to see if that's the case. I was testing two nights ago in my basement and it appeared that I was getting one less bar of signal. I was pretty tired and bleary eyed so I need to try this again hopefully this weekend.
I was wondering if you or someone else has checked this out.
The case is beautiful and gives above average protection, which is more than enough for me, but if the signal is being affected that would be a dealbreaker.
On another note, I have the supcase frost/clear back case and I love that too. It's thin, light and looks terrific. It offers no better than average protection but that's ok with me too.
These 2 cases give me everything that I personally look for in phone cases.
Thanks in advance
Edit:
Been testing and the iron shield definitely degrades signal for me. I'll be returning it to amazon

Signal gone down here too. I'm in Italy, where i was getting 4G now it's 3G and where the signal was bad (1 bar) now i can't get any at all.
Switched for the Spigen Slim Armor (i think verus iron shield case is the best looking and classy case for LG G3 but i can't stand the signal issue)
Just for information...to all the people with my same experience, have you got the model with the antenna cut or the plain one?

DIY metal watch band solution

I thought I would post my Sunday project with my fellow Gear S heads, in hopes of getting some creative juices flowing. Any comments or recommendations on improving my design are more than welcome! I present: my butchered Timex watch band project!
Looks good. I'm assuming you cut up the original band from the watch to fit the pins of the new watch band? How well do the pins stay in, since the band itself is pretty flexible. It seems like the pins would pop out from time to time.
It was shockingly easy to cut the band up with a pair of nail scissors, used a razor and dremel to clean up the edges. I heated a Bobby pin up with a butane lighter and plunged it 1/8" into the rubber for the pin holes, and they've held in place well so far.. Only one incident while I was tying my boots up this morning.
Tldr; hot pin made some holes.
Update: had a second incident with the same pin popping out, I may need to graft some metal pin holders from a cheapo watch onto the band.
Ended up making my own also but using the original strap from a dummy Gear S and the band/cradle from a lunatik kit for the old iPod Nano touch.

That is totally badass, and more of a streamline then I thought possible.. Kudos! Maybe I'll snag one of those kits to have a second option.
Side note, I revamped my design, so it looks more.. Intentional, and makes it more sturdy. I assume I could also swap the band out for any similar sized band. Hooray for super glue!

Yup, the rubber used bonds really well with superglue. Although mine was done with a lot of dremel work, medium viscosity craft superglue and superglue accelerator. Using the dremel to sand and shape the glue after drying from the accelerator. There is actually very little of the original lunatic cradle used when bonded to the original rubber and it started to get pretty thin. I wanted to get it closer to the body of the Gear S but it was getting too thin in the material to do so.

Pics of the backside. Pretty minimalistic. Hard to get good photos with the band on. The charger still fits and functions this way also. As for what I had to do to get it to work. You first need to find a lunatik tik tok kit or any other watchband kit for the old iPod nano touch to use the lugs. And then either get a extra band for the Gear S or buy a dummy with band off eBay. I wouldn't start cutting my original band just in case you make a mistake. The rest is really just superglue with accelerator and a lot of dremel shaping work and trimming the original band.
So did you bond the tabs of the lunatik tok to the old gear s band part that attached to the sides of the gear s.
Sorry, I'm just kind of confused on how you made it work. The pics are good I'm just not sure how you did it. you cut the tabs off of the tok and glued them together i assume. Is it still holding up?
that is exactly what i was thinking to do.. it is prefect.
Wow man they both look great.
ROB your V2 looks really good and clean
And Shadoe that's amazing how you did that looking at it I still have no clue but I'm jealous lol.
This thread inspired me to rip my old sonyericsson BT watch apart and use the metal band for the project. The result is quite nice ☺
Look great man. How is the rubber holding?

According to the site in the picture it is just a 3d rendering of a possible prototype so it is not an actual product yet that you can buy.
I've ordered the brown leather strap today, apparently they make them as the orders come in, I have to wait until next week for the shipping + another 2-3 weeks delivery... ouch... not the cheapest one either, but looks really nice. I've ordered via their website giphone(dot)ru, yes... it's in russian... and no... it wasn't easy
PS. I have no affiliation, will report what it looks like when it arrives.

Nice waiting.....
Well I got my dispatch confirmation with Russian post tracking number a couple of days ago, it took almost 2 weeks from order to dispatch, and it's supposed to take another 15-20 days to arrive, plus possibly a few days in customs. I love Russian ingenuity and I hope it's worth it but at the moment I'm not impressed.
Wouldn't the leather one with the easy call feature block the heart sensor on the back?
Also, does the brown leather one (second post) have only one hole?
OK guys, so my strap has just arrived, all in all it was actually faster than I anticipated considering the initial delay.
The strap is really nice, and I mean really nice, it's thick leather with nice grain stitched through with yellowish-brown thread. The thread holds the folded over leather where the clasp is mounted but otherwise the stitching is for appearance rather than function and it really does look nice. I like the embossed logo, it adds character and looks good, it should be on both sides, not just on the inside, but of course I suppose one could flip the strap around
The watch goes into the strap exactly the same way as in the original silicone, the difference is, when the band is on the wrist, there is a tiny bit of gap on top and on the bottom of the watch, I think it's almost unnoticeable, but for sure unavoidable because the watch is already a tight fit, anything tighter and it wouldn't go in.
Overall well executed idea with nice craftsmanship, definitely worth the money. Considering the current heat wave it was getting really tough to wear the watch with the silicone strap, I'm very happy with it now.
I'll put up a few pics in a minute.
PS. Here are some of my pics: https://flic.kr/s/aHskhH4X1r
PS2. My wrist is relatively small so I had to punch another hole in the strap, I used the leather punching tool so it's good, if you don't have one and your wrist is on the small side I would probably ask the seller to add another hole.
Nice review and beautifull pictures, thank you
At the moment the master is heavily loaded, the straps will again be available in 1-2 weeks. You can buy will be on my website http://giphone.ru/shop/kozhanyj-remeshok-dlya-samsung-gear-s-2

I picked one of these up off eBay, the black leather one with the metal ring to hold the Gear S. No major review since I'm not a watch guy, but I'll say it's definitely more comfortable and less sweaty than the stock rubber. The only issue I had was getting the screw back into the metal ring to secure the Gear in place - I did some industrial strength swearing during that long process. But I'm not great with small tools like that, so others may find it easier.

I ordered the same as you except for a black casing. I plan on replacing the leather band with my TYLT black band though. I am kind of active and the leather doesn't hold up very well.
None of them. I'm replacing my Moto 360 with a Hauwei Watch because of Motorola's abysmal new warranty policy of charging customers a fee for advanced swap-out of their watches (in addition to the industry-standard credit card hold), even when the problem is a known and publicly acknowledged design flaw of the watch itself.
I shouldn't have to wait ages without the product I paid for -- and with its warranty clock running down while its gone -- and I shouldn't have to pay for replacement either, when it's under warranty. Especially not for a design flaw. That policy lost me as a repeat customer for Motorola.

Picked up a black 42mm with black leather at best buy yesterday. Not sure they're even supposed to be selling them yet lol. They were tucked away in a cabinet, nothing on display. Loving it so far. Much dnapper than gen1. Battery life is great even with always-on. Heart rate monitor is MUCH better, and the readings it takes every 5 mins actually get reported to Google Fit if you connect Moto Body. Pedometer reports much closer to my FitBit too.
I ordered the women's rose gold from best buy and will be arriving in the afternoon.
42mm Men's Gold with Cognac Brown Leather band. Kinda classic looking.
I just picked up 2 42 inch black 360. One for me and my hubby. Replaced them from the crappy Samsung Gear S. I'm loving it so far. I felt naked without my smart watch for 2 months.

46mm silver body with silver micro knurl bezel and silver metal band. Also got the tylt silicone band for the gym.

46mm version (standard silver/cognac version)
Finally got my 46mm black knurl and super engineer band... Happy as can be with it.

Moto 360 - 42mm Black - Band?

Hey guys,
I bought a Moto 360 2nd Gen in the 42mm Black variant with a Horween leather band, It was the only option available at the time as i wanted it asap, And i'm actually satisfied with my purchase however i'm willing to purchase a Stainless Steel Black Band, However i can't find any that is compatible with the 42mm Variant as it takes a 20mm Band, I'm looking for a Black stainless steel one that consists of a butterfly clasp,
However i was wondering would any 20mm Band work with my moto360 even if it doesn't consist of the quick pin pull outs for the lugs?

Ya, any 20mm band will work. This my favorite style of band, I got it from Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YA4L7HC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
make sure to order some extra pins as well, since the ones that come with the watch are attached to the strap.
For my 42mm I had gone for a cheap silicone band with quick-release pins to hold me over till I could get a proper stainless one. I figure for 12 bucks on amazon it's worth the peace of mind to know I'm not ruining the leather doing dishes or at the gym.
Got the 46mm since then, half because it was available with stainless
Get a spring bar removal tool from Ebay also, it will make your life much easier changing bands. I just bought one, they are cheap.

It's not a huge clasp, no bigger than any other watch. Plus it has the advantage of all the extra band wrapping around on the inside of the strap, instead of the outside.
