How to force LTE only (Sprint LG G3) - Sprint LG G3

I have the LS990 (Sprint) so I don't know if it is the same for other devices (comment below if it works for you)
I am not responsible for any damage you do or any mistakes.
ROOT IS REQUIRED
DOWNLOAD THE SHORTCUT MASTER LITE APP IN THE PLAYSTORE: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite&hl=en
I was messing around with the hiddenmenus in the phone and I found a way to force LTE only on the LG G3. It normally does't give you that option in the Mobile Data network settings because you can't make calls on just LTE yet so if you turn this on, make sure you switch it back to what setting it was before so you can make and receive calls.
Launch Shortcut Master Lite and open the menu to search for "systemselection"

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
tap on "com.lge.hiddenmenu.vzw_only.SystemSelection" and click launch. Then Grant SU.
Then finally tap on Network mode and you will be able to select LTE only. Again make sure you switch it back so you can receive and make calls.
There you go! I am with Sprint so sometimes data is really slow and for whatever reason sometimes my data would stay on 3G even though I am in an LTE area so this way forces it on.
I have more goodies if you guys want to see them (ex: see what LTE band you are on and and turning them on and off, turning on Lab mode, production mode to Lab mode, etc)

Just to let you know lte does not support calls so you will need to enable VOLTE so you can get voice over lte (volte). You can enable this via shorcut master just search "VOLTE" then enable it. (Just thought I'd let you know )

Yes I've mentioned that many times in the post. Also I can't find where to enable VOLTE like you mentioned. Can you please give instructions.

What's Lab mode?

I'm not sure. Something with testing though. I did turn it on and everything was the same.

I was just complaining the other day about how I missed svdo that the HTC evo 4g lte had. Simultaneous Voice over data. On this device, when you start a call, data connection stops.
Would VOLTE enable svdo? Thatd be absolutely awesome.

I was reading about some secret menu and it has a mode like that I tried it and I was able to make calls and come on xda. I will have to look for the exact setting but you can find the area in shortcut master just search for "com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu.sprintspec.Data" (No quotes). You need your MSL code in order to modify these settings if you don't have it you can call sprint and request it for free. The only thing you need is your account pin code and your phones iemi if you have multiple device's it just makes life easier for the person. Then just click "Edit" and type in your IEMI number and you can edit anything.
I don't know for sure and I don't take responsibility if you do this but I am pretty sure that you have to turn on "DDTM". You can find it under "EVDO". Again I have no idea if this is it so just make sure before doing this you make a backup. If something goes wrong PM me and I will help you. If you don't make a backup and something goes wrong don't get mad at me because I will not help if your mean

So VOLTE allowed you to browse Xda while in a call, or DDTM did? Sorry, just a bit confused. But if you found a way to have data and phone at same time, that would be fanfreakingtastic !

VOLTE allows you to do that but Sprint is not setup for that. You can't call with data anyways with tri-band devices but you could with LTE non-spark devices. It has to do something with the number of radios.

Damn, that sucks. My evo LTE had svdo, and that was such a great feature. Really pisses me off that CDMA tech makes it necessary to have extra radios for that, radios that no one includes. I believe the evo lte and one Samsung or moto device had the appropriate radios, and that was it. The 2 flagships during early stages of lte rollout were the only ones.
Sorry for hijacking thread.

It's ok. Did the force LTE on work for you? No one else gave me confirmation. If it did could you say the version of Android and what device you have?

I haven't tried yet, sorry. I was unclear if DDTS needed to be selected, or just VOLTE.

Has anyone had luck with DDTS change?

That short cut is for ##data# dialer code, now I wish I had data when making a call. But no sprint phone I ever owned did it, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing.

I did the force LTE and it works great. I'm in a horrible LTE area, aka, the entire state of NH, so forcing it to only LTE really helps keep it there once I have it. Thanks!

great job on this one....it does work but yes u cant make or receive calls but text does work....to change it back u can just go under normal network setting and reselect it

I will help you how to enable 4G -LTE and volte US Mobile in India - Whatsapp -+919998825666 -

I was able to perform the same steps on the VzW G4 with success. Each of the modes seems to work as described!
I wonder if there is a way to get to the Phone Info screen though, I'm fairly sure its just a simple hack to enable it, as a dialog pops up over the info screen that says "This application does not work on this device."

HTC Rezound is a World/Global Phone [CONFIRMED] but One MAIN problem (so need DEVS)

Okay first off I can CONFIRM THE REZOUND IS A GLOBAL PHONE (lets just get that out of the way).
EVIDENCE
Okay so I purchased my HTC Rezound form an American eBayer and he shipped it to me just after Christmas (i live in the UK), i was already under the impression that the Rezound was a global phone but just before it arrived everyone was saying that it doesn't have the GSM or WCDMA networks which made me sad
But when it arrived i thought i would try what i thought would work, sooooo i place the sim card in the phone and powered it up. After setting it up i went to the phones dialer and dialed: *#*#4636#*#* and then went to phone information and changed the network type. I was shocked to find that there was many options including 'GSM only' and 'WCDMA only' . So i switched the phone to WCDMA only and the phone picked up signal and showed T-Mobile in the notification bar .
(I got my data by adding the T-Mobile APN and then going to wi-fi settings>>advanced and changed the time till wifi switches to mobile network to 15 mins (then waited 15 mins))

Problems (That i think can be fixed)
Okay so the only two problems are:
1. I can receive and make calls, can use data (internet) but i can only receive texts and not make them?
(When i try to send a text, as soon as i press send the network signal shuts off and i have to press no when a message appears that says something like "would you like to try and send text when phone has signal?")
Anyone know how to fix? Is this T-Mobile UK SMSC Number?: +447958879879
I HAVE TRIED:
1. Changing SMSC number under: *#*#4636#*#* (there is no option in the HTC Mms.apk (Messaging app))
2. Changing to/installed HTC Sensation XE's [SENSE 3.5] Mms.apk and still same problem (also made sure the SMSC number is correct)
Screenshot to show texts not sending and network stops: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0U8I71u15EGYTFhMGEwZmMtMzYwZi00MTdkLWI2MGQtYmIxMDljNGUyZDgy
2. And the other is just to get rid of the lockscreen message that says "This SIM card is from an unknown source".
TEMP FIX (Until Reboot): If the ROM you are using has the tweaks menu (MikROM) then you can go to Miscellaneous Options>>>Choose Lockscreen Style and select 'Android Lockscreen', Then Restart or Hot Restart and change the option back to 'HTC Sense Lockscreen'. THIS WILL REMOVE THE 'This SIM card is from an unknown source' message, but this process must be done every time your battery dies or you turn off the phone.
(still better than the ugly message every time you turn on the phone screen).

So please could some DEVS work on this cause this is another great advantage to the Rezound that was let down by the Verizon tailored HTC Sense.
This
You just need the exact right apns for sending texts. I hope you deleted the Verizon ones?
I'd do an APN backup of an htc t mobile phone, then in the rezound delete apns, then restore apns
I use apn backup and restore
Mb you've already done exactly this but thought I'd suggest. Need to customize a few apns for your phone number, mb didn't customize all of them? Our if Verizon one still sits there?
Possibly need a copy of an mms.apk from a gsm phone because some settings built into the Verizon apk may make it fail to send
I did delete the verizon ones, and i only filled in the T-mobile APN like this and left all other settings blank:
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
Password: pass
Dude, seriously.... DOES NOT BELONG IN DEVELOPMENT!
Back in my experience with AT&T, there was a phone number for the messing center that needed to be input. Otherwise, you couldn't send text but could receive them. Do you'll need 2 things ... the phone number to your carrier's messaging center and the place to input it in your phone.
I did a quick look and couldn't find the field. But that's what you're missing.

No, it does not belong in development. Development is for WORKING MODS/HACKS/ROMS/KERNERLS/ETC, not to talk about or request Developer help. Hence why it was moved.
I think it is funny that people think that the Devs are locked in the development forum and can't get out. That the only place to reach them is in there . Yes they can and do read other forums!

That would be because you used the VZW sim which only works on certain frequency. They are talking about unlocking the sim and using one that authenticates for GSM/WCDMA/LTE.
The MMS.apk app you have is the CDMA version of it so no you will not have access to the SMS center number... You need to have the mms.apk from a GSM sense phone to have access to that settings, but even then you will probably run into problems.
Problems like.. Resolutions issues, FC's ... It not working at all
OR... Its a universal apk and a simple edit with in one of the XMLs would enable that options or something..... Food for thought

try pushing the mms.apk and such from a european sensation sense 3.5 rom. Then reboot into recovery and clear the cache and dalvik cache. Maybe that will work for you.

Debranding AT&T Lumia 920

Hi,
is there any way to put a different ROM on an AT&T Lumia 920.
I intend to use it overseas but I need the Internet Sharing option enabled (wifi hotspot) and as far as I know AT&T and Rogers has it blocked by default.
Any help on this?
Thanks

But does it enable it to any carrier?
Because I have read that this app has predefined APNs for some selected carriers, and I'm planning to use it on carriers that may not be listed on it.
Actually, it uses the APN's from the SIM and it works really good.

Are you asking if a ROM flash will unlock your phone so that you can use a different carrier's SIM? You'd need to do that first. Then you can use Access Point.
Are you saying that the access point app enables tethering on AT&T without a tethering plan???
If so, I suppose anyone can sideload this app and start tethering on AT&T without flashing new ROMs?

I can't either, its region/ROM specific in the Nokia store apparently. You would need to sideload if anything or else flash a different ROM to get the app.
Can we sideload apps on WP8?
I didn't know this app was not available for all regions.
Try with your own risk for you can't uninstall this. The only way to remove this is through factory reset.

Hmm, does anyone know if you select AT&T 3G, does that then disable LTE? Is there any benefit to have one of those AP's selected over the others?

I suspect this:
When a carrier has LTE aside from GSM it has to have two different APNs since there are different core networks.
That's why you have to have at least 2 APN configured, one for LTE ( the data will go thru LTE data core) and when the phone is out of LTE coverage, in 3G/2G GSM it uses the other APN configured for GSM data.
you can confirm this by just leaving only one APN configured and try to use data on LTE and 3G HSPA, only one should work depending on which APN you configured.

I see, so what you are saying is if I select 3G, it should automatically switch to one of the LTE ones. But if I select 3G and delete the other two, it will only work on 3G?
I would test that theory, but my device will not let me delete or modify the built in APNs (guessing it's an ATT restriction).
Thanks!

Once installed, it will be on Settings. As far as I know, you need an unlocked device to make internet sharing works. (I could be wrong)
APN wise, it should automatically detect the settings of your carrier from the SIM. I never really messed with it as much. I was just curious about the app hehe.
If you guys need more help, go to wpcentral's forums and search for access point. There are tons of threads about it.
well guys, I'm onboard. I just ordered my unlocked AT&T lumia 920 and as soon as it arrives I will install this app.
Thanks everyone for their sharing.
Installed the app and I'm still not able to enable Internet Sharing. In Access Point there are two LTE options and one 3G. For both LTE options attempting to enable LTE gives the message about going to the AT&T website.
With the 3G option it simply saying "Internet sharing isn't currently available".

[ROM] DNA-GSM-DYNAMITE-ROM-4.09.605.5-v1.0 (STOCK BASE) (GSM ONLY))

Here is a DNA ROM based on the latest base OTA Verizon 4.09.605.5 that has been modified to work only on GSM. I made it because I wanted a fluid Sense 5.5 rom that wasn't glitchy and knew only a Verizon Stock rom could provide this.
I currently use Cricket Wireless that uses GSM network. Data and MMS work for me. Haven't tested on other networks, but it should work with most. If it don't work for you then add your APN.
This GSM ROM also bypasses the Verizon check on the setup wizard so you don't need a Verizon sim. Those of you who have tried to use GSM on stock base rom know what I'm talking about.

Thank you for doing this! I'm considering switching to a GSM service and didn't want to have to buy a new device/keep the DNA with degraded functionality. I realize this is intended as a devel thread and don't want to take it off track but I wondered if you might still be willing to post a little info regarding how the HSPA/4G functions with this device on GSM network such as Cricket (ie: what is your up/download speed on the GSM network) when using a ROM such as this. I was under the impression that the device is missing some of the needed bands for full LTE.
Also, are there any benefits to a GSM ROM vs just using a generic one such as CM11 and changing the APN, etc?
Thanks again

Your correct that the DNA is missing bands needed for LTE. Your data speed will not be as good, but will work. Unlike my LG G2 on GSM, it has the bands needed and is just as good as with Verizon with full LTE.
My speedtest on the DNA sucks on GSM. I get about 3.42 mbps down and .68 up. On my LG G2 with same sim I get 8 up and down. Cricket Wireless caps it at 8 up and down. Huge difference. Service on the DNA is just H and doesn't go to H+.
I see no benefit of changing to CM11 besides having a different style ROM. I prefer the Sense 5.5 look over CM11. You'll still won't have the baseband to get better service.
Only reason I made this ROM was because my LG G2 is being repaired!!!!
....
edit..
You can always sell your DNA and get the LG G2! I made a ROM that works great on GSM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...m-cricket-wireless-rom-att-gsm-vs980-t2910279
Actually, on the DNA the network indicator will never change to H+ (my experience anyway). But it is connecting to HSPA+ (HSPAP).
Using Straight Talk - ATT
I can post my APN settings for ST (ATT) users if requested.

Thats some decent speed right there!! Did you have to add your APN or did work like that out of the box?

I had to add the APN manually.
ST (ATT) APN:
Use Global or UMTS/GSM, I Personally use UMTS/GSM that way it's not trying to scan all radio frequencies for a stronger network. (saves battery).
The DNA will not get LTE on any GSM frequencies, just HSPA+ (HSPAP) at best.
MMS/SMS works both ways as does all the rest of the features brought to you on the DNA except Verizon specific apps. I don't use the stock messaging app as it is hit and miss. Textra works great.

I posted this on another thread, but thought the people here might find it useful as well...
The only LTE band enabled by default on the Droid DNA is band 13. You will have to enable the other bands to make LTE work.
1.) Install original factory ROM. I don't know if this ROM will work because I believe you have to be in CDMA mode to get into Diagnostic mode.
To open DIAG MODE from CM11:
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
2.) Install a custom kernel. I has to be created from source, not stock.
3.) Download and install QPST and QXDM.
4.) Plug in phone, let it install the drivers
5.) Type: ##3424# and then hit send, let it install all drivers. This will take a while, ensure it completes before attempting to continue.
6.) Open a file browser and navigate to the "C:/Program Files/Qualcomm/QPST/bin" folder, and start the program "QPSTConfig.exe" (run as administrator by right clicking).
7.) I had two devices listed under the "ports" tab. Only one mentioned an ESN, it was the SURF9615.
Note: If it isn't showing up already under the "ports" tab, go to "Add New Port". Select the one that has 9k in it. You may have to untick "Show serial USB/QC Diagnostic ports only" to see it.
8.) (OPTIONAL, ***But highly recommended***) Now select the QPST Start Clients > Software download > Backup > Start. This saves a backup copy of your phone's stock NV memory to your computer in case you need it later. (I would also recommend that you write down the original values before you make any changes.)
9.) Again in the QPST Configuration program, go to the "Start clients" tab. Start "Service Programming" program. Select to load your device. Then click "read from device". This will send your SPC program code, which should be 000000. This will allow the next program to work.
10.) Next, run QXDM Professional (again, right click and run as administrator).
11.) Change the "view" tab to "NV Browser".
12.) Go to the communications tab in the menu of QXDM and tick the line that lists your device. Under "Target Port", make sure it lists the COM for the device that mentioned 9k earlier.
13.) Once it has loaded the NV items, go to the line 06828 and click "read".
14.) Click once in the box with the current value (should be 4096), and then edit it to be 0. Then, tell QXDM to "write" the value by clicking that box at the bottom right of the program.
15.) You may now click the box again and change this line to reflect whatever band(s) you want to enable.
Now, do the same for 06829.
Tip: You can calculate your own values for this or download the program called "Qualcomm NV Calculator" (It is free). If you use this program, you will use the LTE Bands Calculation tab. You will need to go to the menu in the top right corner and select "LTE Bands Calculation" and tell it that you want to "Use QXDM Notation" in order to get the right values. Enter the decimal result for the 6828 & 6829 values.
Reboot your phone. It should now have whatever bands you have selected enabled.
Install this or any other ROM to make use of the new bands.
I know this looks tedious but literally takes about 30 seconds after doing it a few times.
Note: Other programs that you may find useful are "LTE Discovery" and "Network Diagnostics".
Credits: Much of the above I obtained after trial and error using primarily this thread as a guide (but others as well):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
Legal Warning: Because I don't know if changing these setting is legal in the US I cannot recommend anyone use this here. Your device was not FCC tested for any additional bands. That said, I don't I expect any problems.

[FIX] LM-G850UM2X - Canadian G8X broken LTE from 10c Update

Hey guys, I like some of you had suffered from a broken LTE radio from the last security update which was November security patch. This has been driving me crazy the past couple of weeks. LG has acknowledged this as being a known issue and is instructing people to simply switch from GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto to GSM/WCDMA auto which does restore connection. This simply is not good enough and we cannot possibly be expected to settle for barely 3G speeds and just crap signal until they get their butts in gear and fix this. Anyway enough blabbing because realistically you just want the fix.
Below is the response LG has given which acknowledges the issue but by no means is an ideal fix.

So the goal is to get our Preferred network mode set to LTE/CDMA which currently is not an option. So we need to make it an option manually.
So below I'm going to list all the things I've done. Some may not have actually been needed so I'll update and edit this accordingly based on feedback and thread participation. This takes about 5 minutes of messing around to make it happen.
It's not a bug it's a feature:
There is one known issue that I haven't tried to fix yet but it really isn't that big of a deal. Doing this seems to kill your voicemail shortcut when you open the dialer and long press 1. When you do so it does try to dial voicemail but tells you that your call cannot be completed. However you can access it still by simply dialing your own phone number. We're going to call this Collateral damage for the time being. I'll play around and see if I can get this working again but really not too many people leave a voicemail anymore so I'm not overly worried at this point.
If you want you can also contribute to this thread and if you find something that fixes this or notice anything below as being an extra step let me know and we can update this process accordingly. The key here is to note that these are all the steps I took to restore my LTE and it worked.
So first things first you need to tinker with activities. The easiest way to do this is downloading "Activity Launcher" .
Open up Activity launcher and let it load
Scroll down until you see Network and expand it. (you can just search for it too if you prefer)
Scroll down and select com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForCMCC
Click on Network mode which may say "null"
Select the top option which is LTE/CDMA If you do not have the option of LTE/CDMA continue the rest of the steps and then move on to part 2
Directly below it select com.lge.networksettingsMobileNetworkSettingsForGLOBAL
Select Network mode (should show Preferred network mode: LTE/CDMA)
If not select network mode and choose LTE/CDMA
3 options below it, select com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForSBM
toggle to the on postion: Use 4G data Network. This may take a second to show your network in the status bar icon again
Next directly below that select com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForSKT
Under Network mode select LTE preferred
Done. All should be well now. Go ahead and test it out by send yourself some text messages or whatever but it should be all set now. If you mess something up do not panic you can simply reset your network settings by going into the settings app, selecting Network & internet and at the bottom selecting Network settings reset if you absolutely feel you need to.
Part 2
Open your dialer and enter *#*#4636#*#*
And see if you can change your preferred network to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)
Under Network/Mobile networks check com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForSP CS, network mode, select LTE/CDMA
Network/Network com.lge.networksettings.UPLMNEditor: choose GSM as your network preference then press the 3 dot menu to save
Scroll down to Settings and scroll way down to com.android.settings.BandMode and select automatic
Now go back to the Network activity and we're going to revisit the option that previously may not have been working. As a reminder it was com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForCMCC
Click on Network mode which may say "null"
Select the top option which is LTE/CDMA
You should now be good to go!
Credits: LG for not fixing this in a timely manner and giving us the most ridiculous temp fix ever
Hi
When i go in com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForCM CC , the network mode is not highlight so i cannot change to LTE/CDMA.
It is not highlight and it set on 3g/2g. I dont know how you can change it because i cannot press on it to change it.

Then see if you can go into settings, network & internet, mobile networks, and select LTE/CDMA from there. Maybe it's that simple and everything else wasn't needed. I'll check activity launcher again and see if I omitted something else from here.
Update; try these too
Maybe check Settings activity too and scroll way down to com.android.settings.BandMode and select automatic
Under Network/Mobile networks check com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForSPCS, network mode, select LTE/CDMA
Network/Network com.lge.networksettings.UPLMNEditor: choose GSM as your network preference then press the 3 dot menu to save.
LG did the same thing with the EU version V10. Anno. There was no solution to that. If you didn't find an LTE network, you didn't have 3G either. That's where LG service recommended it. Leave it on 3G. Don't use LTE (only problem with telecom network) Funny / sad they are not learning ..

Not for consolation. But Samsung does the same sometimes. I used to do S7. And now they are struggling with the Galaxy S10E (Vodafone network only)
It looks like the update has been pulled now. I waited because of LTE issue but I just tried to update to try the fix and it tells me I'm up to date with 10b. LG or the carriers must finally have seen the issue, maybe a fix is incoming.

HI Negan.
Sorry if it took me a bit of time to answer you.
I just wanted to try everything you post to try to fix the LTE connection à full day.
I tried my phone today for a full day and I even ride in my car for 2 hours and it looks like it's working for me.
I did the *#*4636#*#* and change the network to LTE/CDMA auto and all the other thing you wrote. My phone work all day without loosing the connection.
I will try it for a few more days and i will get back to you if everything still working fine in a couple of days.
Thanks a lot.
By the way, sorry if my English is bad but I'm a francophone (French) from Montreal Quebec and I have little problem with my english.

All good. I'm glad to hear it's working for you now. I was also a bit skeptical at first thinking maybe the signal wouldn't last and it was too good to be true but it should hold up for you. OP updated with extra steps now.
What a waste
Great phone if it worked correctly I go the following info from both LG and Bell is no timeline to fix the issue yet they are still selling the phone.

Even though I was unable to change the settings for com.lge.networksettings.MobileNetworkSettingsForCMCC (it was always greyed out), it still fixed the issue so thanks a lot.
I recently started getting Proximy Error issues and when I called my guy at the cell store I have been told that the new update is coming shortly fixing the LTE and Proximity Sensor issues. Apparently the December update was released without proper testing (Xmas rush).

Question Workaround to prioritize wifi calling over mobile network?

Hi, canadian s23 ultra on telus provider , that block the option to prioritize wifi.
So even if sometime I got mobile network, it kicks me out from wifi, but still the signal to weak to make any calls...
I've called the tech, and this is a internal policy to unload their server.
But makes no sens for me, wifi calling is useless.
Only option : toggle airplane mode ... ok, phones can play AAA games, but not prioritize wifi.
My OnePlus 5 is rooted and I can force wifi, any way for the non-rooted S23?

That's a d!ck move by Thellus... unexpected even for a cartel member.
Videotron allows the selection and also I can turn on WiFi after putting the phone in Airplane mode.

fckin time lost

yeah this is what the tech told me, but dont work at all.
-Go put the trash out at few meter from my house, wifi disconnected, go back home EVEN IF IM ON AIRPLANE MODE , it wont AUTOMATICALLY reconnect ! Missed a call.
-I go get the kids at school : forgot to toggle back , no signal, a client called.

Telus requires WiFi Calling activation. Have you activated it through their website? It's a crap shoot system. They also heavily limit devices that are "compatible" with their WiFi Calling. They don't really want people using WiFi for calls.
Of course it's enabled, it's working, but drop me out the moment I got signal.
BUT not because I got signal that means it's stable !
If I put air plane mode, Wifi calling, dont move that expensive phone, so yes, Wifi calling is working.
Telus don't want us to use wifi calling, telus don't want client, too bad, full refund and make me , their tech and their seller loose time and money for a stupid simple option ''wifi prefered'' blocked by their policy.

I just tried to use some routines to make this work properly. Basically, I selected a location to be at home and turn on airplane mode and another routine when I'm leaving home to turn off airplane mode and enable mobile data.
I haven't tested this yet but in theory, it should work.

Have you tried reaching out to their engineering team? I have dealt with them directly before for a few different things. The last time I had to deal with them over WiFi Calling, which was years ago. They made sure it was provisioned to work on the LG V30 I had and it was solid. It took 2 weeks of callbacks to get someone from their engineering team though. Don't call support or customer care either. Call their main number in BC and let someone call you back.
One of my carriers, Vodafone NZ, does this too. They prefer VoLTE in front of VoWiFi. Massive pain if your on the boarder of coverage as the limited signal you do get isn't enough for a usable conversation, but enough to drop VoWiFi. Missed and rubbish calls result.
Typically the carrier hides this toggle behind their carrier settings. You used to be able to access and change this hidden setting with the Samsung Band Selector app, but this no longer works for me. You can still see the toggle, the app just crashes when you try to make the change.
I'd be very interested to see a workaround too.

yeah, when you type this kind of issue, Vodafone is the king of this topic ! I read most of the vodafone forums, and some get it by some app , like wificalling or VoWifi on the playstore. But none are working.
VoLTE work when you have signal, which I dont have... My reading are -100 to -109 dB, wifi calling seems to stop when I reach around -88dB , but way too low to make a call.
Yes Ive reach the eng. dep : internal policy it appears. I'm trying to make this policy change for me, because you know, its a mouse click to have the VoWifi working at no extra cost.
FINAL UPDATE,
Tried an other provider sim ( videotron) and the option appeared !!!
So yes COMFIRMED, providers block the option, so makes the wifi-calling useless in low coverage area.
You could always file a complaint with the CRTC, not that I think it would do anything. They are more crooked than the FCC and FTC.

I mean they don't lie, they have the wifi calling, but if you're in a 0 signal zone.
In a ''in between'', which is IMO very useful, it doesn't work.
They have the right to do this, and it work with their definition. Only thing, it's bad that they don't tell you.
How many client are in my situation, not much I would say.
Yes there's many post on that.
And now 5 new from me.
Maybe one day they will change it, but it won't be this week, and I need to return the phone before 14 days ( as been 7 and weekend they are closed)
Please tell me guyz Rogers got this option !

It's the point that they offer something but render it almost useless on purpose. I know. In Canada, that is perfectly acceptable. Just look at their list of approved WiFi Calling devices for Android.
