[Q] A simple TWRP question... - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hey guys, I been looking around on the forums and seen this thing were x.4.5.2 was flashable by TWRP or something like that. And I was wondering if this is true, so I can update my device to x.4.5.2 but still keep TWRP to have custom rom support, etc. So, is this possible? (because I really like x.4.5.2, with KitKat features.)

What is the best ROM and why?

Hello everyone,
most recently I have updated my Hero to the new ROM supplied by the fellows at HTC (the 2.73... I think). Then I remembered that on my HTC S710 I used to have a rom that came from here. So, I took a look. I have a couple of questions. Oh, let me also tell you that I have rooted my phone (I think, with Instant Root).
So these are my questions:
What do you think is the best rom available?
And why? What are its advantages to a 'normal' HTC Rom?
As a beginner, I can look over this forum for hours (I did!) but still miss out on this answer!
there is no answer to this question, that's why.
It's like asking which is better, up or down?
Everyone will prefer a different ROM for different reasons. get your device flashed to the new recovery image and then you can try all the ROMS and decide for yourself what the 'best' one is.
Personally i stick with the generic ROMs and haven't used the modaco custom ROMs yet as i am happy with the way the device works and not in need of all the hacks that other people want as i rarely use them.
you may be different.
try them all and decide for yourself.
Hm. Yes, I like the way you are thinking - and heck, it is the second time you've given me a great reply! I'll go out and tinker with the world, and more specific: with ROMs! Although I have no idea what flashing my device to a new recovery image means, I do remember having to do something similar with my S710. And I am sure I will find an explanation here! Who knows, pherhaps in a short while, I will answer my own questions!
There aren't many customised ROMs for the Hero yet, partly because the source code isn't available yet from HTC, so the ones that do exist are based on versions of the HTC ROMs.
Use Flashrec and install the awesome modified cyanogen recovery image, then you can flash one of the ROMs. I chose the stock UK ROM pre-rooted, from MoDaCo's site (not the MoDaCo customised ROM though).
It's convenient because it is pretty much the stock experience, except it's pre-rooted which makes some other things possible.

Hey, I upgraded from a S710 to a Hero as well. I'm very happy with having done that as the Hero is such a better phone!
Anyway. Flashing a new recovery image is one one of these 'tinkering' things you/we have to get used to when playing with ROMs. Essentially the recovery image is a very basic control on the phone that you can reboot into, from where you can update the ROM or do total system backups. You can read about how to do this in MoDaCo's custom ROM thread in the android development section. Flashing a new recovery image and new ROM isn't too hard really; took me at most a couple of hours.

Android ROM Flashen for beginners?

Hi everyone,
I have a Tablet PC.from China called Sonngie SKYRAY071.
Supposedly it is compatible with a HuaYi A10HuaYi A10
As a beginner wit root I would like to know how to flashe it. Maybe with Jellybean ROM?
Should one use a Custom or Stock ROM ?
What does one have to take into account?
Is it easier to use the App ROM Manager ?
Where does one find a suitable ROM?
etc.
Thanks for all tips.

if you are rooted, seek recovery for your tablet. You can use Rom Manager to flash CWM Recovery, but i'm not sure if it would really flash, since i don't know if it supports your tablet.
Custom ROMs are way better than Stock ones, but you hope too much, i don't think Jellybean version is available for your tablet. For searching custom ROMs, use Google or XDA forums.

Hi all reading this post
I have an acer liquid s2 with android 4.2.2 stock, rooting this device is very easy but but i've found nothing about a custom rom or aosp rom like Cyanogenmod (my dream).
it's a very good phablet but i don't like the stock rom, i prefer my galaxy s4 mini with cm11.
Is there any way to have an alternate rom ?
Please ohhhh please.
Thanx.
Sorry for my english i 'm french
Doesn't look like there is any development for it at all beyond unlocking the bootloader, root, and CWM recovery. I learned my lesson about buying devices that developers aren't interested in awhile ago... Just one of those things, unfortunately. I suggest using a different launcher and the Xposed Framework for the best way to mod without needing a custom rom.

[Q] Where do we stand with?

Hey guys. I'm thinking of gettring a G3 I haven't really messed around with rooting or custom roms in a few years. I was wondering if it's possible to root and load a custom on this phone? This phoine seems awesome... Is there a definitive guide or thread somewhere? I took a look and I'm not fully understanding all the terminology. Thanks!

Yeah, it's all rather simple to do also. You may have to downgrade to KK to root the phone, but after that everything gets gravy! Each model has a decent selection of AOSP and stock-based ROMs as well. The device specific threads should have tutorials on how to downgrade, root, and bump your device so that you can load that custom ROM you want.
