Recovery is in the different partition, so it doesn't affect the /system partition, which has your OS rooted unless you reflash the whole stock ROM.

ok thx
I should ask , because of the rooted status (even tho i'm on stock recovery) i wouldn't get the OTA update right?
Whats the safest way to flash stock recovery? through TWRP or an apps like flashify?

In fact, you can get OTA normally by installing Xposed then install Wanam Xposed, choose fake system status in security hacks and restart > You get official system status.
About that recovery, download the stock ROM and extract it (its tar.md5 or md5), get the recovery.img, copy it to your SD card then flash it with TWRP (remember to press the Image button on Install) >> You get stock recovery.
Press thanks if i helped

[Q] Install Philz cwm6 on I9100G

Hii!!
I hope I am not making an error by posting here, I am a little new to here so be king please
I just want to install Philz CMW6 on my I9100G so I can install a kitkat custom ROM; I have been facing problems with this, I tried many ROMs ( CM11 unofficial, SuperNexus, SlimRom, OmniROM .. ) but I failed everytime, I realized that my CWM was not suitable. So I started looking for it I found a good thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 after installing the CWM it goes right installing ROMs but got stuck into bootloop.
So, if someone can give me the .tar.md5 file I can flash using Odin or maybe another thing to take care of.
Thank you
PS: I had CM 10.2
Running official stock ROM : JB 4.1.2

Try this steps:
1. Use the method in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701) to flash JB stock + root. note that it's better to flash the kernel via recovery after it's on your external sd-card or sideload with adb. This way you don't get the triangle warning and no binary count.
2. Download the kitkat compatible CWM from here: (http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2/recovery/CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.zip)
3. Flash the CWM and reboot to recovery (advanced -> reboot recovery)
4. Flash your Kitkat rom (with all the necessary wipes of course )

I tried this but I got stuck on boot again, and knowing that the CWM that you gived don't work :/ ( my model is I9100G I think that this is the reason ).
I have read somewhere that maybe the wipe data / factory reset is the source of problem. I am not sure where I am doing wrong
thanks

[Q] Rooting Android 4.1.2

Would just like to confirm before i proceed as i do not want to brick my phone.
Since I'm running i9300 stock android 4.1.2, is it safe to root using the method found here?
Since recovery won't be installed, i am unable to find an odin flashable cwm 6.0.4.x which is required for kitkat roms.
There is twrp 2.6.3.0 here, but i'm unfamiliar with it and the version needed to flash kitkat roms.
Any help would be appreciated as search/stickies did not help.

tbh i prefer twrp but will use cwm if twrp does not support kitkat flashing.
have tried philz but did not like it...would use it only if cwm and twrp aren't available.

search in the twrp thread with the keyword "cm11" and you'll find the answer:
in short you do not need the version in the op but from the main website and in the thread is a link to it. but better look yourself
if you are unsure ask in the thread, which roms are flashable through twrp and which one causes problems

For anyone interested:
Yes you can use cf auto root in the op link to root jb 4.1.2
For Recovery:
CWM: You have to flash via odin cwm 6.0.3.2 then install the 6.0.4.4 zip via recovery
TWRP: odin flashable twrp 2.6.3.1(required for kitkat) is available on the twrp website.
Philz: odin flashable zip can be found in this thread. Not sure about kitkat compatibility tho.

upgrade to - kitkat os..
how to proceed after rooting..
pls help..
thanx in advance,,
Our device doesn't have stable KitKat. Except for CM (which is still unstable), ALL the roms who claims to be KitKat are, in fact, themed stock roms.
About changing your rom, it's easy, you only needs to pick a flashable zip of your choice, among the ones available here.
nice
thanks.
pls guide me with steps to flash

If you want free space, flash Baidroid, it really saves space. If you want stock, download Titanium Backup and remove bloatware, such as ChatON, Samsung Push Service, and so on. You may want to flash a kernel also.

ear piece problem
Hi boss
Thanks for your wonderfull work
Please I have updated my galaxy v sm-G313HZ and my ear piece cease working, anytime I want to make call have to use speaker out before I can make call. Please help me
we might be needing a new unlocked bootloader for samsung galaxy V. I bet your phone updated on your first use or maybe the newer samsung galaxy vivalto got modded firmware versions thats why all roots are not working right now.
Here's the white screen of death upon recovery if the developers want to see.
luckily I got a stock rom so everytime I test a root and failed, I just flash the stock and it works again.

my suggestion is if u decided to install custom rom, so you should be ready with bugs. And about cyanogenmod, i've managed build CM11 rom for galaxy v, but still bootloop. cant open homescreen. i'll try to rebuild and fix it if i have free time. why not CM12 ? bcz the size of source code CM12 is very very large. And i dont have fast connection to download it.

try to use old firmware version. maybe can fix it.
Yup, using the old firware will fix the white screen upon entering recovery BUT, as we are here for "Custom Recovery". I have bought my galaxy v last february only. I think new versions of galaxy V had been modified so custom recovs cannot be flashed.
Note: Everytime I got white screen on attempts to flash any custom recovery, I just flash the stock rom and everythings working again. but, as you see in order to root the device, I need to flash a working custom recovery.
vroot, kingroot, frama root or any other 3rd party program roots doesnt work aswell.

I do not advise you to use vroot, kingroot, framaroot or other third-party app for rooting. I've tried to install custom recovery with any firmware version and everything is fine. So I was also confused with what is actually happening on your device.
BTW, please quote my reply if you want to reply.
I only tried the 3rd party roots when all the flashing (CWM, TWRP) did not succeed. If you check other threads, it is not only me who is having this problem.

If you know how to use odin and flash the clean stock rom, it has to boot. There is no way it won't until unless you make some mistake and the flashing fails in between. After flashing the stock rom, initial boot will take long time, you need to keep patience.
Go ahead and flash the stock rom via odin.

yo can download the stock rom from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
You can enter in recovery mode irrespective of the ROM you flashed on your cell.
further i like you to clear your cache and dalvik cache while in recovery mode and restart your phone and see if it works.
