do I need pit to flash recovery? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hey all,
I'm new to the s5, haven't had a samsung since the s2 so my memory is a little foggy. I'm about to odin flash the twrp recovery, then my plan is to do a backup on my stock rom then flash cyanogen.
do I need the pit file to flash the recovery? I remember odin being very easy but also very easy to brick so I just want to play it safe

All you're going to need is the TWRP.tar and flash it with the PDA slot in Odin.

Difference between CWM through ODIN and ROM Manager?

Does anybody know what is the difference between these two CWM install methods?
Use ODIN if your tab isn't rooted; if it is then use either ODIN or ROM Manager. (I assume you're thinking about flashing the ICS preview?)

Ok thanks. No I'm thinking to flash a custom rom but I'm not sure about the difference.
So flashing CWM through ODIN equals to have recovery.zip in the internal memory the same that ROM Manager do? ODIN only adds recovery.zip file?
I believe that both methods do the same thing, but the build of CWM in ROM Manager is horribly outdated. Use ODIN to flash the latest version for best results.

There's a bit of language barrier here, so I'm not certain I understand. Just use ODIN. There's no difference.

flashing stock firmware/kernel

hey huys
my galaxy has presented some problemas with the usb port, so i want to take it back to warranty, but i have custom rom/kernel
i want to flash the stock rom again but i'm not sure how
I9100UHLPK this is the stock kernel (4.0.3 chile entel pcs) i just need to flash it with odin in the pda option? or do i have to do something more?
thanks guys, and sorry if my english has some flaws
ps: i forgot to mention i have cwm recovery
yes, just flash it with odin.
You can use the zip file if you have cwm but either methods works.
If you have problems with your USB port, I would recommend you to use Mobile Odin to flash stock ROM instead of PC Odin.
Just download the stock ROM from sammobile, open the file in Mobile Odin and flash it.
Take a nandroid backup before the flash.

Bricked S2

Hey guys
this morning i woke up with my s2 telling me that there is a firmware update
I said yes, my phone reset itself and just samsung s2 with a ! triangle appears
I can get into download manager
I want to try odin, I've download a few things but for the PDA part it looks for a .tar .md5
I extract the Rom zip but there is nothing inside of it with those things... so i cant flash anything
please help??please :$
Then try another zip instead?
BTW Zip is for Recovery but it seems like you know this since you knew that tar/md5 files are for ODIN
Flash Siyah maybe? you can get the .tar from here
Make sure you put it in PDA and re-partitition is NOT checked.
Cheers.

To root, flash a custom kernel using Odin.
Think about to see if the Kernel or ROM is compatible with your SGS2 and with your version etc.
Cheers.

[Q] I9300]Phone soft-bricked. Help please!!

Hey all
So I had a stock 4.3 ROM, rooted, and wanted to flash recovery.. so I accidentally flashed a N7100 recovery, hence, phone couldn't respond to TOUCH at all.
I flashed different ROMs and PIT files in order to solve this but it only kept getting my phone worse.
I can go to Download Mode now so what do I do? please I'll thank you gratefully!
up up up up
Download stock rom from Sammobile and get into download mode and flash through Odin without pit file.

I tried it but i am getting an error in Odin.. doesn't Odin need a recovery like TWRP or something to install a ROM?

Odin is for flashing the original firmware from Samsung. You should be able to find it here in the forum for your phone. They usually will post it either in the General or Development sub-forums. If you can't find the exact one you need, then you can check out sammobile.com, though it is usually a pretty slow download. You must use the one for your variant of S4 and can be specific to your carrier or region, depending on which S4 you have. You should only use the same firmware or newer.
odin for samsung
i will recommend try flashing a custom recovery like twrp or philz for flashing a custom rom
flash recovery image using odin or any adb boot type commands
also be device specific when u search for rooting or flashing roms to avoid bricking of the device
