Lollipop 5.1 AOSP by Ivan bug report and collection - Mi 3 General

In this thread I will collect bugs present in Lollipop 5.1 by Ivan
Known bugs:
1.Touchscreen working during calls for some
2.Can't connect Wi-Fi in quick settings (only happen if you try to connect secured Wi-Fi for the first time) (fixed in version 20-Mar)
3.Dialer crashes in landscape mode (fixed in version 20-Mar)
4.Bluetooth a little buggy, playing music via bluetooth speaker and sound will become choppy
5.Alarm don't work , turn it on makes clock app force close (fixed in version 20-Mar)
> Camera Bugs that exist in this ROM: thanks to @akshayAXE (Camre HDR mode now works in vertical mode, doesn't work in landscape mode) (fixed in 20-Mar)
1. HDR over or under exposes the photo
2. Upon clicking photo with HDR mode on the following error pops up "cant connect to camera".
3. HDR with mi logo on the left side freezes the camera app.

Few More BUGs
Phone Used : Mi3 W
ROM: AOSP 5.1 by Ivan dated 16 March 2015
I confirm all but one the bugs you mentioned.
> I am able to connect to wifi networks from the quick toggles idk why it doesn't work for you.
> The phone is unable to be detected as a media device upon connection with computer running Windows 8.1 x64 at least in my case..
> Camera Bugs that exist in this ROM:
1. HDR over or under exposes the photo
2. Upon clicking photo with HDR mode on the following error pops up "cant connect to camera".
3. HDR with mi logo in the left freezes the camera app.
All Camera tests were performed with Stock and Google Camera App.
It is very easy to root the ROM
by simply flashing supersu.zip file that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

I can confirm all the camera bugs from your post, but the wi-fi quick setting bug I still can't figure it out. When I tapped on a secured wi-fi SSID, still nothing happened.
I'm using Win7 x64, did you check your usb driver install correctly?
Btw, which gapps you are using, I'm using BaNkS 5.1 gapps

i am using pa_gapps-modular-pico-5.1-20150315
all the USB drivers are correctly installed.
I found a new thing and it seems strange.
When i connect my device to the PC as a Media Device (MTP), it doesn't get detected but if i connect it as Camera (PTP) then my PC detects it.
I wonder why...
---------- Post added at 02:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:33 AM ----------
I have found the solution to my problem when USB debugging is enabled my device is not detected by the Computer in MTP mode
but as soon as I disable USB debugging the device gets detected by the PC in MTP aswell.
Conclusion: If USB debugging is on device wont be detected in MTP mode via USB, simply disable USB debugging for successful detection of device.

Did your playstore crash?

No PlayStore crashes for me.
In-fact I haven't faced any crashes at all except for the Camera ones that I have mentioned previously mentioned.

I cannot expand notifications on lockscreen with single or two finger gesture.

One word "Superb", 0% over night battery drain.
Still measuring, but impressed with battery life(even quit better than MIUI and a lot imporved than any other lollipop build and that's the reason I'm using this ROM despite few other bugs like Clock app fc while setting an alarm, dialer fc in landscape mode, HDR still not working.
But the forced me to stay on this build is battery and overall performance.

There's a workaround for Clock App force close in 5.1.0 thread in en.miui forum. The workaround is replace the clock app with another stock 5.1 clock apk

Yeah,
Actually I was facing this issue yesterday, so I figured out this workaround and posted on MIUI forum.

Google search app crashes after OK google detection. Not sure whether it's ROM based bug or gapps based bug!

Hi ajitkatte , can you post a print screen with battery usage ?
After clean install I've noticed also a good battery life, but after rooting and installing some apps the battery is draining fast especially when it gets bellow 30 % .
Another thing that I noticed is that the files from MIUI remained after clean install ( factory reset, dalvik ,format system 1 , data and cache ) via CWM.
Should I format also the internal storage ?
Thanks in advance .

Wifi "sleeping" when screen turns off !?

Just bought the mrs a Galaxy S3, she uses Wifi when at home. All the wifi settings are correct including the advanced ones (from the dialer menu)
melethron said:
Hey,
There was a change in API 12 (Honeycomb and later) with the way "wifi lock" is handled. Even if the sleep policy in settings->wifi->advanced->"Keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "always", wifi will still be in a "low performance mode". This results in throttled speed (f.e: stuttering streaming), high latency (ping your phone) and can even cause disconnects, when the screen is off.
Still this is not bug but a feature of Android and should be addressed by any app that needs full wifi performance. Any app that needs full wifi performance (like streaming or file shearing over wifi) should call for "WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF". This can be found in the official "android developer reference". Before API 12 (honeycomb) an app just needed to call WIFI_MODE_FULL for "wifi lock". If an app isn't coded proberly for honeycomb and ICS and has issue with Wifi performance appart from calling "wifi wake lock", you should report that to the developer of that app.
I still found a simple workaround for scenarious in which this function is not properly called. There is an rather simple widget on google play called "WIFI High Performance Widget". If the widget is enabled, the function WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF is called and the wifi performance is on full speed even when the screen is off. Im not in any way involved in the developement of this app and there might be other apps out there, that could achieve the same (for example: Android Terminal emulator also calls WIFI_MODE_FULL_HIGH_PERF if "wifi lock" is enabled.) Still this widget is the simplest solution i found thus far. Just enable the widget and get full wifi performance when screen is off.
Greetings

Is there any other way round this apart from the above ? Its really annoying that this hasnt been fixed, my HTC sensation is EXACTLY the same.
We both use whatsapp, and its annoying because if we are on wifi messages don't come through until you turn the screen back on, on 3G whatsapp works perfectly when the screen is turned off its just the wifi.
Above fix doesn't work.
thats odd , when my screen is locked i receive whats app messages and if i am downloading something over wifi it keeps on downloading, currently on cm10 but when i was on the stock rom , even if screen was locked wifi didnt sleep

Tried that last night, doesn't work.
Same thing happens on my sensation, desire HD, a friends desire HD..but we have a friend in america who has an Inspire and his wifi works fine when the screen is off :/. So originally I think, ok its an android bug..but they why doesn't he have that issue ? I spent about 5 hours last night searching the internet and there are numerous posts about the wifi issue but no resolution.
Have you tried altering security settings on your router?
which rom are you using ?
Figured it out.
3 Android devices were all having the same issue, I have spent over 15 hours researching and I have finally fixed it.
It was my router, not security settings just a common issue, I have an asus RT-N56U, I have flashed a custom firmware to it and my wifi on android devices is perfect, instant updates from facebook, gmail, whatsapp. A lot of time and testing but i'm glad I finally fixed the issue !
Now to order a nexus 4.......
That does not work. Selecting any of these options does not change and wifi stil off when screen turns off. Happen only on JB but not on ICS. Any fix for that please?

[Q] connected,sync loop

It s normal this message in the notifications?
i made some researches ,but no luck...
did you guys get same problem?
I have the same thing. Had it on KitKat and also now on lollipop. I saw a screenshot recently from someone that just said connected.
I had no luck searching either :-\
Sorry I'm not replying with an answer.

On kitkat it was connected sync loop but now on lollipop it is only connected but i didn't find ajy difference in both, the watch is working in the same manner as it used to be on kitkat
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
i changed rom, and now says connected . i was on cyano . hope this helps..
found the problem
i founded the solution. you have to deactivate dev options from phone. then turn off bluetooth and then says connected
Yup that works.. But Google should fix that soon as in most of phones the Dev options are always on..
FYI

Basically means USB debugging is turned on..

It's not broken though, As long as you have USB Development options on it will use the Android Wear app notification to show more verbose status messages.
There's nothing to fix there... That shows when you enable developers options.
No impact on the phone or watch battery or performance whatsoever.
Even without developer options enabled, that's what's happening, AW is running a sync loop to constantly update the watch information (cards and apps).
Cheers!

In my case, when the notification says "connected, running sync loop", my battery goes down so quickly (in my phone and in my watch).
My solution: I disable developer options (at this moment i dont need it) and all works nice.

This is probably due to the Android Wear app updating the notification with the current status of the watch, resulting in more wake-ups than normal (could definitely be wrong here, but that seems the most logical to me.), best way to fix it is indeed to turn off developer options.

I've tested and on my devices there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in the battery consumption with both cases.
It's just a different way of writing the current state.

Exactly, there's no difference in battery at all. It's just different wording of the same state.
With developer options enabled ir disabled, the phone is in a constant sync loop with the watch for it to work properly.
Cheers ?

After this night, i bring my results.
I have activated dev options, and my phone says "Connected, running sync loop". I went to sleep at 2am and the watch battery was 82% and phone battery was 71%. When i woke up, my watch was off and my phone has 22%. I looked at the battery graphic and in the first position was Bluetooth.

Bliss Mallow based on CM13

everyone who're fedup with Oxygen OS can try this new rom BlissMallow rom formerly known as Blisspop
works smooth & fine, you can use it as a daily driver
as usual LAF & FP not working as of now.

flashed it yesterday too, found it a little too buggy.. facebook app FC's, drop down menu FC's, gps was off, and alert slider doesn't work along with LAF & FP. Took crappy pic's. I'll stick with OOS with xposed modules for now. We aren't to far off from official 6.0 for OPT

It's a good rom, and cloud be a daily use, even it's a bata.
I have two major issues with the latest rom :
1. rotation sensor not working.
2. proximity sensor not working.
clean flash 3 times , tried downloading the file two times to rule out bad download
also flashed it with/without Google apps , nothing helps so far
is anyone else facing those issues here or can someone please point me towards a solution?
thank you

giving it a try right now
edit: not working .
tried it twice and still no go, very weird
when trying any other cm13 based rom sensors works great, I think it has something to do with mahdi's device tree.
Just tried this today. So far:
1) Sometimes FC in settings when switching which SIM card to use for data
2) Waking up device by power button wakes the screen, but it's black and I can't input the PIN to unlock the device. Basically I have to force reset it. This happens every now and then.
3) Priority toggle: If you toggle too quick, the phone doesn't understand and misses it. I.e. you might be in "do not disturb" mode, but the phone didn't catch on so it thinks you're in "priority only", letting things through.
4) Camera seems to work OK, autofocus not an issue so far
5) No idea about battery life
6) Obviously no finger print scanner
I'm going to test it as a daily from now on, let's see how this goes. (coming from OxygenOS)

Hi All
Like this rom. This is the ONLY rom that has been stable enough to tempt me away from oos.
I did a clean flash for the initial install, then dirty flash with the updates. Current Running the 20160224-1305 build
Very few issues. Good enough for my daily driver. The only bugs I've found so far..
Lock Screen Notifications. Double Tap to launch doesn't work. Screen just shuts off again.
Bluetooth Pulldown. Pressing the "x" next to a connected device should disconnect. But actually does nothing.
Battery life seems a little poorer
TouchScreen sensitivity issues. Occasionally touchscreen goes a bit nuts and it becomes difficult to type with unintended keys being hit, and becomes difficult to access pulldown menu. Have to reboot to solve.
Minor Wifi issues. I'm getting disconnection issues when I connect to specific public wifi points which didn't occur under oos.
I had an issue with SnapChat being unable to access the camera but I solved this. If you restore from titaniumbackup the camera connect error occurs. If you then wipe cache/data for the SnapChat app and log back in it works fine.

1. You have to 'disable double tap screen on lock screen to lock to sleep' on the settings/bliss settings/lock screen.
Cant help with the other issues though!

Jio4gvoice App bug on Oreo 8.1.0 and 8.0 ROMs.

As we know oneplus X is non VoLTE device so we have to use jio4Gvoice app to use jio Sim for calling purpose.
I am facing issue with jio4gvoice app which is not able to stay connected to network even if it is not optimised in battery setting. It automatically get disconnected after some time. And if it is connected I am not able to receive calls when app is not running in foreground. There is only message notification that you have missed a call.
This app is able to receive call only when application is open on the foreground, but when you clear it from recent the problem will start again.
I tried many solutions like enable GPS, switch off automatic network selection. But none of them is able to resolve the issue.
Now I am frustrated with testing new ROMs of Oreo because this problem is not resolved in any of them.
Due to this problem I am not able to use latest Oreo ROM.
Is there anyone with concrete solution of this problem in our community?

And if it is connected I am not able to receive calls when app is not running in foreground. There is only message notification that you have missed a call.
This app is able to receive call only when application is open on the foreground, but when you clear it from recent the problem will start again.
I tried many solutions like enable GPS, switch off automatic network selection. But none of them is able to resolve the issue.
Now I am frustrated with testing new ROMs of Oreo because this problem is not resolved in any of them.
Due to this problem I am not able to use latest Oreo ROM.
Is there anyone with concrete solution of this problem in our community?

I am also using AOSP 8.1.0 by YumeMichi but I am not facing any problems. Try clean flashing the ROM once again. I faced the above prblem on LOS 15.1

Edit: if this helps then you can try. I'm using Naptime and I have white listed jio4gvoice from it. And I also use L Speed and did the same.

Thanks again. I tried this build also and got same situation with jio4gvoice app. I think naptime and lspeed has to do something with it. I will check and let you know outcome.:good:
Problem resolved.
Just turn on GPS and it will work like a charm. No need to whitelist app in Lspeed or Naptime or any other app. It will work as normal like in any nougat or marshmallow ROM after turning ON GPS.
Didn't in first post you said that Enabling GPS didn't helped? I am also having the same issue. Will let you you know if this resolves it.

Yes I mentioned it in first post. I was facing problem with older ROMs I tested. Solution with "GPS ENABLED ALWAYS" works with new builds of ROMs. I think it might be problem with older ones.
Enabling GPS did solve the Problem.
But Wouldn't GPS drain Battery if it is ON 24x7?
I was happy to flash Latest LOS 15.1 on my OPO.
But this Bug Ruined everything.
Hope there will be a fix out Soon.
Saddest Part is I've Just Replaced My OPO's Battery A few Days Back.
And I'm afraid this Battery will Lose its Full Capacity.
Time to Say Bye Bye to Jio I guess.

You can set the location to Battery Saving, no need to set it to High Accuracy.

Exactly. I use GPS in battery saving mode and it's not that much battery draining compared to high accuracy or device only mode. Which turns out to be daily driver even with jio4gvoice app running.
I tried to use xposed module to make Jio4gvoice app get predefined GPS location without turning GPS on, but not succeeded. If some app with ability to modify system settings or giving fake GPS location can make Jio4gvoice app to run without GPS always enabled. Which can solve battery draining due to it.
If someone finds any app please acknowledge us.
Thanks @SjBathavar for these. It saved my plenty of time.

Lots of activity over in the 3 XL forums. I wonder if the Q build will fix the screen flash with AOD? Also I have 4 Pixel 3s and if I go to the beta page there is no way to determine which is mine and which is someone else's. Any help with that?

Probably best to just manually flash the factory image in fastboot if you cannot tell which device is which.
If you've enabled navigation buttons, it appears that the task switching button no longer functions. Very annoying.
Is the Q beta 1 is suitable for daily usage?
Working fine so far, Installed OTA through the Beta Programm and did a factory reset.

I just went to q (Via the beta program) Without a wipe from the latest PIE release and am having no issues thus far.
Gmail works fine as well

To manually disable and enable dark mode.
Disable "adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 1"
Enable "adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2"
If the above does not work to disable try this "adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode"
gmail is working fine here. So far i have not one single Problem. Imo the whole system is faster the finger unlock is faster and the battery drain is better than on pie. I like it very much at the moment.

eSim is having issues, banking apps are not working, things like that are popping up. There are definitely some major issues but it's only a 1st run. Let's see what gets fixed on DP2.

Same here... No issues so far.
I did find one bug.
If you open files and show internal storage.
The free space listed only updates on each boot not wen files are modified
Hello, here no issue so far.
The bankin app work but the finger unlock for the app is disable. I need my password.
Everythings is OK.
Has anybody succeeded with dual sim dual standby? I have airtel[India] as my esim and an other sim in physical sim tray but so far i can only toggle between two, I couldnt find anything to get both sims connected to cell towers at the same time.

How are you toggling between the two? If neither one is on a call can each receive a call? Does the eSim manager menu look different?

In network & internet>mobile network> carrier you can switch between esim & simcard. When I meant toggle only one sim is in standby. No nothing different in esim manager.

No. Im going back to stable. Some of the issues experienced by myself
-HSBC banking app does not work
-Bluetooth headphones stop working after a few mins
-power widgets not working
-some websites appear in a strange format i.e. msn
-battery useage seems worse
This is all ok as its beta but i cant run this as a daily driver
