[Q] Find cause of last reboot - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, does anybody know what file contains the cause of the phones last reboot? I remember seeing it on the XDA TV a while back, found that saying to go to /proc/lastkmsg but I don't see that file at all.

[Q] Transfer files??

Morning all
Just got my tab 10.1 yesterday, rooted and installed overcomes ROM this morning. For the life of me I cannot copy over any MKV files as i want to put my files on the damned thing. I've had a quick search through and it seems most people can do it somehow its just no one has given a fool proof way of doing it as far as i can see (i know i will be wrong there)
I have tried to use recovery usb mount but that just doesn't work and every time i use the mtp is just crashes windows explorer.
Please can someone tell me there is a way i can get my files onto my tablet?
any help is greatly received

MTP crashes Explorer.exe? Thats really weird. Sounds like you have bad drivers. Uninstall and reinstall your Samsung drivers and try again.
Another option is to get the USB connector piece that allows you to connect and view the contents of a USB drive with a file manager app straight from the tablet.
One more option is Dropbox. Its a personal file sharing software that lets you see your files from any device with internet. Just drop the files from your computer into your dropbox folder and they will automatically upload online. You can then go to www.dropbox.com and sign in to see these files. Android devices have a Dropbox app, so you don't even have to open the browser, all your files are right there in a folder on your homescreen for you.
If you don't have a dropbox account, Click Here to Sign Up You get 2gigs of free storage space.
rename the extension .mkv to something else like .abc and it should work.

I should have said I renamed. The mkv in question was only 850mb and it crashes. However an mp4 of 1.4gb works fine. All be it it asks me to convert it first.
I'll try and remove the drivers and reinstall and see if that works when I finish work.

[Q] /mnt/sdcard has huge number of tmp files

When I went to access sdcard using my file manager, the app froze. This kept happening with other file managers, so I thought something was corrupted. I decided to wait for a little bit and see what happens. Turns out the file manager was busy loading a huge list of .tmp files that accumulated in /mnt/sdcard. Anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it? Thanks in advance. I'm on stock rom and rooted.
Same problem
Hi,
I also experience the same for few days.
Did you find the reason?
Seems like it's related to using Allshare. I can't find a way to fix it though.
Hi,
thanks for the hint.
I decided to simple delete them! I had more than 17,000 files. Crazy!
Same issue here. (But I've International Galaxy S II.)
The question that came to my mind was could they have been created by the DLNA server you were connecting to? In my case it was MediaTomb.
Were you guys using MediaTomb?

Lost Memos, where are they in file explorer??

Basically something went wrong with my phone and the touchscreen no longer works. I tried switching the motherboard to another phone but that doesnt fix the problem. I have some info in the memo pad app I would like to get but I cannot find it in explorer.. I used a program called Moborobo that allows me to look in to the files on my phone but I have looked and looked and cant find them. It wont let me export the app either becuase it is asking for SU permission and I cant touch the screen to allow it. Does anyone know where the actual info in the app is stored in file explorer?? Or any other solution, Im all ears. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!!!

Offline flash help?

Okay heres the issues. My dad recently deleted all my lg stuff on the computer using one of his "pc boosters". Well I reinstalled the support tool and drivers (im trying to unlock my friends bootloader). I changed compatibilty to the correct setting and the program still would not run. I finally thought to check the hosts file and it was still modified to use the offline method, I changed it back to its orginal state and reinstalled it. Finally it opened and seemed to work fine. I changed the hosts file back and set the compatibilty to the correct setting. It seemed to be fixed so I went to flash the v10g kdz to his phone, the program opened correctly, and allowed me to select my kdz file. The problem is when I go to flash it. When I click the bottom right button used to begin the process it comes up to where it shows the phones info but nothing is listed(has always been like this for me, even during successful flashes). Then I click the start upgrade button. The box comes up saying checking for lg mobile support upgrade with the red loading bar. Now is when I have the problem, instead of asking my language like it should and beginning to flash after selecting it, it brings up the mobile support tool like im using the online method. The one that has the options on the left to check upgrades and load usb drivers below that. I don't understand, ive checked my hosts file and its modified correctly and im running the https server. What all would I need to do to completely wipe every trace of drivers/program from my system? Even after uninstalling drivers and the support tool the etc folder remains that contains the hosts file. Im thinking maybe it created a new host file somewhere that im not seeing that its running off of and the one i've modified is obselete. Im just guessing though. Has anyone else had this issue or know the solution? Thanks !

Any way to restore my WhatsApp msgs?

Sorry if wrongly posted but I need some help,
Today I lost my WhatsApp chat history somehow and I am trying to restore it, did all the tricks I could find.... but no success.
My wife died the 22th of April and I really want her msgs back :crying:
I Have no Key file (searched for it but can't find it
Tried xTract butcouldn't open my files
Tried a bunch of websites...
I got one msgstore.db.crypt file
7 msgstore.db.crypt7 files with dates (the last 7 backups I guess)
1 msgstore.db.crypt7 file
1 msgstore.db.crypt5 file
Who can help me out ?
Sorry to hear about your wife passing. I can't even imagine...
I'm not really familiar with Whatsapp but thought I'd give a crack at getting to help nevertheless. So, to get your key, you have to be rooted. But it seems like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2689911
might have a lot of useful info on how to decrypt them and I'm sure someone there knows how to get the key too.
Thnx, I tried the web-version from WhatsCrypt but liked said I am unable to get a keyfile.... it's not in the folders, tried the App version now too... it decrypts a DB but also unable to get a Keyfile (file isnt there)
I will not give up tho
*edit* Saw you are running a rom, so am assuming you are rooted. Duh...
But I see you posted over on that thread. They would obviously know more about it than I would. I wish you well!
I dunno if this might help at all:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tricrypt
And I guess you should be able to find your key in the /data/data folder for Whatsapp.
I've tried all those tools but did not got any msg back, there is no keyfile located in that folder I've checked like a thousands of times.
Well, guess I need to write support
