ChromeCast Screen Mirror - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
im using the latest CM12 builds and yesterday i bought a Chromecast. Everything works fine. I can stream from my PC and from my Z2 Using Youtube or other apps for example.
But when i want to mirror my whole screen, nothing happens on my TV. On the Phone it says "connected to Chromecast" but nothing is showing up.
I used CM builtin function and Chromecast app.
Isn't it working with CM12 or lollipop yet?
thanks!

Chromecast mirroring and CM11 working

Hi all,
Since Google allow screen mirroring with chromecast version 1.7.4 I wanted to test it on the GPAD 8.3 running CM11.
As expectected, it didn't work (device not listed as supported).
Then I made a complete wipe and install the latest CM11 version. To my surprise, I could cast the screen and sound with the quicktiles !
After updating the Google Play Services (to use the Google now service), it didn't work anymore.
So, I uninstalled the GPS update (back to v4.3.23) and it's working back ! please note that google now is no longer working then.
Just wanted to let you know...
Happy mirroring with your chromecast !
Note that the Chromecast app is not needed on CM11. I've just installed it in case of loosing the sound, I restart the chromecast device.
UPDATE : now working with latest Google Play Services 5.0.84 (so does google now) / Chromecast v1.7.4 and this neat application : http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193
It's working
I can confirm that this is working. I had to change my rom to LRS_GPAD_V2.5.0 to get kitkat, but otherwise ok!
I am using Gpad v500. Mirroring seems to work fine, but I think I have to boot my chromecast dongle every time I want to mirror the picture to my TV.

Can't cast screen with Z2 and Chromecast

So now that the Z2 is supported for screen casting to the Chromecast I have the option in my Chromecast app but when I try to connect it says "No compatible Google Cast devices were found on your network.". I have four chromecasts and can successfully cast YouTube, pled or Netflix on any of them so why isn't my Z2 able to screen cast to them? I am on the latest stock FW from Sony. Any ideas? Anyone have this working on stock firmware without root and any Mods?

[Q] S3 GT-I9300 not optimised on Chromecast

Hi guys,
I am using S3 GT-I9300 Android version 4.4.4 ParanoidAndroid version 4.1 and would like to use screen cast with Chromecast.
Whilst I am able to cast to screen from apps such as Youtube etc I am not able to mirror my S3 screen. When I connect to Chromecast I receive the pop up "device not optimised for this device". Android connects to Chromecast for a few seconds before disconnecting. Am using Chromecast 1.10.2 app. Is there anything I can do allow cast screen to function correctly? Thanks a million.

Have you tried using google before posting?
Read this: How to Enable Chromecast's Screen Mirroring on Any Rooted Android Device Running KitKat
that was only necessary when screen casting was limited to 3 devices, it's now open to everyone with the latest chromecast app but that doesn't mean it works
I am using the Blekota Note 4 Lite and with me works just fine. I can cast in the TV my phone screen

Can No Longer Cast Screen On My 2015 Chromecast

I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere but I recently upgraded my my Chromecast generation 1 to Generation 2 and my ability to cast my cell phone screen to my chromecast from my galaxy s6 has stopped.. it just says connecting and times out.. All apps with native chromecast support work as they should.. Only when I use the cast screen feature from within the chromecast app does this problem occur... Does anyone possibly have any idea on what could be causing this to happen?
Thank you in advance!
I'll have to test this for myself but casting the screen to my Chromecast 2 from my N7 2013 just stopped working all of a sudden the other day. It'll connect and then freeze up within a couple of seconds.
Will try to cast a specific program like YouTube tomorrow and see what it behaves like.
Same problem for me, in the beginning it worked fine, but after the automatic update it started to do problems with the mirror cast and the Google photos.
In the others app it is working good
I so that this is a common problem with the chromecast 2, in alot of phone models

I have almost the same problem, just purchased my chromecast. Everything works except the ability to cast my screen from withing Tablet using CyanogenMod using the Cast Screen option.
When I try it it goes through the process show the device found shows connected then instantly show disconnected. Works on my One Plus One running CM based ROM just fine. So it could be ROM version....
Since its a tablet have to use android Chrome so can't use extensions on it because the extension for Chrome Cast work on my laptop to do a cast screen.
Same problem here using slimkat rom
Updated the tablet to CM12.1 not same ROM but same version as my phone ROM made no difference. Also tried 2.4 and 5 GHz still no go from tablet. Interestingly annoying....

i haves same problem in a lg g stylo i update android 6.0 now wrok fine
Just happened on an HTC M8 too. Everything was OK until now. I have it from December and was working on Android 5 and even on Android 6 until yesterday. Tried to reset it hard from button and soft, reconfigure it and happens the same issue: phone find it and when try to connect screen goes black on TV like trying to receive an image, then disconnects back to backdrop. On the phone sometimes the wifi disconnects from the router and reconnects back when Chromecast is trying to transmit the image on TV. I checked the compatibility phones on page and indeed M8 is not there, but it worked, so is not that.
There is any possibility to take an log on the Chromecast to see what is happening?
Sent from my HTC One_M8
Edit: Seems that the issue was the installation of the Viper4Android flashable zip. After replacing system image from twrp backup, everything is back to normal. It connects in no time.
What version of android do your phone use?
I use Galaxy Note 3 android 5.0 with Chromecast app to cast screen to TV attached with Chromecast 2015 device.
There is no default option for casting screen on android 5.0.
So I use Chromecast app to cast screen.
Everything is normal. I can cast phone screen to TV while I'm playing Asphalt 8.
I have switched phones to the Nexus 6P and for the first few months I was able to cast to screen again but now I lost that ability after experimenting with different roms.. yet I can still go to my friends house and cast my screen without any issues on his 1st gen chromecast.. what a strange issue
I switched back to the 1st chromecast, the new one would start overheating lol

Miui Native Cast Problem

Hi Guys,
I have problem with my pocophone native cast app, it does not detect my android tv which i just bought online few days ago. Im pretty sure the problem is not in the tv since i tested it to connect with my other phone and cast connected just fine. I also tested some other tv on the electronic store, my pocophone also did not detect several other brand on the store while the rest tv like samsung and lg connected just fine.
I googled this issue and found the alternative of using app called activity launcher then launch the android native casting app (wireless display) and it detect my tv but its quite laggy and i cannot turn off the screen while casting like i did in miui casting app.
I wonder if any of you face the same issue and anyone can figure it out? Im running the latest miui 11 global stable anyway.
Thanks before.
