[Q] Canadian gear s not working with indian sim card - Samsung Gear S

hey guys
my friend sent me a canadian gear s (r750-w) which he says was working well individually in canada but after recieving it here did all the usual setup and all but it simply doesnt detect a signal
would be grateful if there are any ideas
thanks

I have same problem. Sim card not working in Pakistan.

US based gsm watches dont work overseas, same goes for the canadian variant.

Same problem with me
I have a Gear S watch (US imported) and now I am using it in India (Delhi/NCR). Indian sim card doesn't work. Everytime I tried to insert the sim card and switch on the device it keep asking me network lock password. I did a lot of research on this and even talk to customer care. They said your software is based on US so indian sim card won't work in this case. In order to make it work you must change the software to indian version.
They ask me to go to service center. Only Okhla samsung service center deals with imported watch from overseas country. The warranty does not valid on imported product. No Idea about cost.
I would like to unlock this watch but due to insufficient time I am not able to visit now. By the end of the August may be I will try and update this post again.
Let me know if anyone has same problem and they fixed out.
Thanks.

You guys should do you home work before buying the watch. Gear S is a dual-band phone. 850/1900Mhz for North America and 900/1800MHz for rest of the world. There is no way you can make it work outside the designated region. Hardware limitation.

So its for sure even samsung service center cannot fixed this problem ? I was thinking to visit service center but if there is a limitation from hardware I am afraid. I should not waste my time to visit service center.

There's no problem to fix. The model of Gear you bought has different radio bands than the network you're trying to use it on. The "fix" is to buy a Gear that has the right bands for where you intend to use it.

es una putada de la parte de samsung a mi me passa lo mismo .que mierda esta que no puedes viajar con el smart watch

[Q] Moving to UAE

I'm most likely moving to Dubai in a few weeks time and, of course, I want to take my SGS2 with me! (Company offer iPhone4 as a business phone.. No thanks! )
I have an unbranded UK handset currently flashed with:
PDA: WKE2
Phone: XXKDJ
CSC: XEUKD1
Am I good to go as soon as I pop a SIM card in or is there anything specifically I need to flash?
I'm thinking my current CSC might give me problems...
Does anyone know if this is the case?
Hi there thanks for PM,
You are welcome to Dubai, It will be bit hot for you though
I have myself bought mine from UK online and have no problem with CSC, i am currently on KE7, before on KE2, KE1, KDD (all UK firmwares/CSC).. no problems with anyone.. I am able to use Mobile provider internet without any special settings (you can manually add if not working).. 2 mobile service providers in UAE
1. www.du.ae
2. www.etisalat.ae
UK mobile works here no problem.. same frequencies. BBC iplayer/ Music hub will not work here as its for UK/ EU..
SGS2 is not officially released yet in UAE and therefore no firmware is released either.
Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply! That's a great help..
Do you recommend Du or Etisalat? Which one is better for high speed mobile internet?
Dear,
it all depends on you as both are similar in few aspects, both are owned by Govt. Etisalat has more coverage since its old company.. Du covers all Urban areas and rural areas are routed through Etisalat towers. recently, after coverage agreement, I can say both are almost same in coverage.
if you work is in remote areas (no road/ cities.. mean desert) Etisalat is better but otherwise du is alright.
Du is good as it charge you per second call. Du is new so tries to give better offers..both are having trial of 4G..Du system is new and speed seems better. both have rubblish Customer service.. I changed from Etisalat to Du as it suits me for Price, got TV/Landline/Broad band from them.. one website to pay all..
off topic: Du covers all freezone, new Dubai for broadband connections/ TV/LL services and rest in Etisalat... once you are here you will know more..

[Q] GT-I9300 S3 use in USA

Hello, I recently visited the USA (Las Vegas) and discovered that my UK bought (UNLOCKED) Samsung Galaxy S3 could not make nor receive calls in the USA. Roaming WAS enabled and I had an R symbol over the signal strength indicator. I have a Vodafone pay as you go sim card which I have used (as my main sim) over numerous years now. I have used it in other phones previously (HTC, Samsung, LG, etc.) over the years and they have all made and received calls in the USA (roaming) no problem. I did get a text message (eventually) when I was in the USA saying welcome to USA and calls cost £1.50, etc, etc. Yet when I tried making a call, I had an automated voice message asking me to contact my operator for some reason (can't remember the specifics). I've never had a problem using my Vodafone sim roaming in the USA and with previous phones, always made and received calls without any hassle (i.e. found a network automatically, e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.). Also, I visited Las Vegas last year with the same sim card but a different phone (HTC Desire HD) and was able to make and receive calls. I recall my brother saying that he had read something on the internet about the UK spec. S3 having hardware differences with the rest of the world versions, including not being able to work in the USA for calls. However, he could not find the site again. Has anybody else had this problem or know about it?

I have no idea about roaming in the USA...
However, I do know that the phone works on AT&Ts network, because I live in the USA & use the I9300 on AT&Ts network. The I9300 will not work on T-Mobile's data network, but should work on T-Mo's voice network.
That probably wasn't much help to you. I just wanted to confirm for you that the phone does work on AT&Ts network here.

Thanks brkshr, that was helpful. Good to know that a GT-I9300 does work in the USA.
I thought the USA had different models (SGH-T999 and SGH-I747). What made you decide to get a GT-I9300?
I may try again (next time I go back to USA) and if still the same, will try an AT&T sim. I must admit, I don't know anything about the different networks in the USA. Can I get a pay as you go sim for free? In England, you can get sim cards for different networks free and then obviously pay to top up.

You are correct. The U.S. does have it's own variations. I decided to buy the I9300 for the quad-core & I was hoping that Samsung would be more likely to release sources for it & update it faster. They do update the I9300 faster, but I prefer AOSP (Google's stock Android) over Samsungs TouchWiz & that's where sources come in to play. So now I wish I would have gone with a U.S. variant, because sources for the US variant are released. Oh well! (Sorry for the rant)
Unfortunately, we don't get free SIM cards here. The best thing to do is buy an AT&T SIM card online ahead of time. Then activate it on a prepaid plan when you get here. You need a Micro SIM card. They should cost anywhere from $5 to $15. Otherwise, you have to go into an AT&T store & buy their 'SIM Starter Kit' for $25... Complete BS.

Thanks again, the link (to Amazon) is very useful. I think I will get an AT&T pre-paid sim card as suggested. At least that way I can use mobile data (when wi-fi is not available) and not have to pay extortionate data roaming charges. Especially useful for mobile data assisted GPS.
One last question though. In the UK, you can keep your number even if you don't top up for ages. In the US, can you buy a pre-paid sim card, use it once, not top up for say a year and still be able to use the sim again, i.e. it won't be deactivated will it? That way I can have it as a holiday sim (I visit the US every year).

Blackview BV7000 Pro fails to register to cell network

Hi, I have been looking everywhere for answers and hopefully some one here can give me one.
I researched rugged phones and decided on the BV7000 Pro because it supports LTE Bands 1/3/7/8/20
My cell provider - Virgin Mobile Canada stated they run on LTE Bands 2/3/4/7
So my phone should work on Bands 3/7
When the phone searches for networks, it is able to display Virgin 4G, Telus 4G, EXT 2G, EXT 4G
When I try to connect to Virgin 4G, it tries then states it failed to register to the network and to try again later
I have confirmed my SIM card and APN settings with Virgin and the SIM card works in my old Motorola Razr but on 3G. The BV7000 doesn't work on the 3G bands Virgin uses so I can't try connecting using 3G.
So I want to know what you think is the reason why my phone can't register to Virgin Mobile Canada's Network?
Other BV7000 Users in Canada, United States and Mexico have reported the same problem.
I have contacted Blackview support and they eventually stated it won't work in Canada but provided no reason why. They posted this 11 days after I had purchased the phone and it was in the middle of being sent to me. However I suspect their support isn't the brightest based on some of the responses I have seen on their forum. The BV6000 works in Canada and the US.
I don't know anything about how the phone communicates to the provider exactly but to me it seems like there is a failure in communication in terms of security which is preventing it from connecting.
Hopefully some one can shed some light on this and maybe find a way around it so I can get this thing to work as a phone.
bv7000 pro, fails on mexico
hello, i have the same problem, live in mexico, it doesnt support 4g, If i have luck it will be 3g data, but i never seen that, only edge, i have i cool phone, but It is useless on internet data.
On the blackview forum theres no help there, Only users complaining about the same in North America

Hi, I unfortunately haven't found a solution yet. I have attempted to request a return through the AliExpress website and the seller has completely ignored me. I had to contact AliExpress customer support to have my return request escalated. The seller finally contacted me today asking if I had received the phone. Which is a stupid question because there clearly is communication between use showing I received the phone and have had problems with it.
Your only option is to try to return it or find a phone provider there that it will work on so you can try to sell it to some one on that network or switch to that provider. I found a provider in Canada called 'Rogers' that it works on but I can't switch to them because I would loose my old plan that is cheaper than the modern equivalent.
Either that or learn how to hack the phone to get to the modem that technically can operate on all bands, they just have to be enabled. Blackview uses the MediaTek CPU. I am desperate to try but I am pretty sure I would kill the phone.
sooo...... do you kill the phone??.. hahaha
Is a bad phone, i try with another company in mexico (telcel), but it lost a lot the signal, when you have to make a call, surprise you can't.
asking on the facebook pago of blackview, they say is a hardware problem, so, there is no solution, only keep waiting for bv8000 (if you want to try again)

Still waiting for either the aliexpress customer care to figure it out or the seller to reply to me. I haven't done anything with the phone yet. I have been trying to sell it locally but only one person was interested.
When you say they said there is a hardware problem, do you mean the phone is defective or the hardware just isn't configured to work with North American networks but works fine in Asia?

i'm in contact whit my seller, they try to help me with 3 problems,
- Does not detect my company's signal
- Only works with edge (doesn't support 3g or 4g)
- after make or receive a call, i can't do another one, have to reboot the device.

Hi, I was just wondering what website you bought your phone through? I bought mine through the AliExpress website, through the Desoon Technology Co., Limited store. The seller has ignored my repeated requests for a return for refund and AliExpress Customer Service won't even talk to me anymore. Nice place to run a shady store when the host website can't even enforce their own rules.
i bought on ebay, honesty i thought i will find a solution for the problem #3 (reboot after a call), but nope, blackview forum is very slow on don't give any solution.
for the problema 1 and 2.... there is no solution, the phone doesn't support 3g whit most of the companys in America (canada, us, mexico or south america), is hardware problem., this problem is fixed on the new bv8000 pro, is has more frequency bands to support global network.
It does not work 3G or 4G only 2G.
I have a blackView bv7000 pro, but it does not detect the networks of 3G or 4G only 2G, here works well only the phone with 2 SIM, the wathapp works well only the internet is very slow, in one word is not good for the internet, it is fast with the applications, but with the internet nothing else is not good.
This in Mexico with any telephone service here.

How To Guide [GUIDE] How to enable VoLTE without unlocking or root

Hello there!
So I've been watching this forum for a solution a long time ago now and I've seen that there's a plenty of you, who didn't find any solution just like me. Because I didn't want to ruin my phone with unlocking and root. But I managed to make it work, not just volte, but vowifi too. All you need is another phone that works on VoLTE (and/or vowifi) in the same country ( same carrier is better bu not requirement). Put your SIM card in that phone, enable VoLTE (and VoWifi) and put it back in your Xperia. For me, it worked with a T-mobile HU SIM card (They don't even have on sell this phone ). It was in my iPhone 8 plus, it had working VoLTE and VoWifi. When I put it in my Xperia both options popped up in the settings and they both worked like a charm. My perso SIM is a Yettel HU one (I bought the Xperia from them), it isn't VoLTE enabled by carrier, so I'll contact them today about it.
Hope, you guys manage to make them work too

Tried that yesterday, didn't work still. If I am right, I believe that the issue is that there is no network provider in my country that supports (has customised firmware) this phone.
I do a bit of travelling every once in a while; so my best bet is taking my phone in by a network provider in a country where this phone is sold and get that network provider to flash their firmware in it, buy a local sim card and have them make VoLTE work in it. Then my home SIM card should work with VoLTE afterwards.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. In my country we have only one carrier (Yettel HU) that sells this phone. They use the international one XQ-BC52 Customised EEA. I bought it from them, so mine is also that. Idk but it did work for me. So they don't have own firmware. They had on Xperia z3, since then they sell unlocked devices.
My model is originally the xq62 but i flashed hybrid of xq72 SEA to make it work but it didnt so i just kept using it as it is. I tried this on this and still it dosent work. Maybe if i flash same model as yours xq52 or the original 62. Too much flashing and checking.....

I have no idea why does it work for some and why it doesn't for others. My perso SIM was voLTE disabled in their system. Maybe it's your case too. Call your provider's tech support (or so) and ask them about it, worth a try

Telecom Italy appear to never turn on VoLTE if not specifically asked, even if your telecom app say VoLTE enabled. I also had to ask multiple times till i was able o talk with an higher tier "technician".
This remember me when at work (AASP) we need to talk with ACS to solve an issue with various customers Apple products. Sometimes only escalating to higher tier will allow us to solve something. Lower tier employee, even for ISP, sometimes are not able/allowed to disclose something

Mine didn't work in my iPhone either. It turned out that it can be disabled in 2-ways at my carrier. There's an android and ios disable option after it has been enabled, still no volte, but after I put it in iPhone (volte works) and put it back then it worked in Xperia too maybe that's a coincidence but I searched the internet a bit and I found some guys who made it work like this too.

What is the app bro?

General USA version XQ-CT62 received today!!

I just received my Xperia 1 IV USA version today from FocusCamera.com today, I was a little skeptical if it was even the USA version, since it wasn`t shipping from Sony until next week, I originally had pre-ordered on Sony website, then with a little looking around I had found the USA version on ebay in-stock, then I saw the seller name and went to there website yesterday and verified with there live chat that in fact it was in stock and would ship, so I ordered and use next day air shipping, everything works flawless and actually has the 5G bands like my Pixel 6 Pro, so I can get proper 5g speeds, on Band N71, That was missing from the Global version I was using 2 weeks ago, now I need the Firmware from Sony so I can root. I`m a happy camper
Congratulations
What carrier are you using it on?

yeah I had t-mobile then I switched to GoogleFi last month, and wifi calling works perfect, inside my work place service from all carriers suck, since it big steel building, but my Xperia 1 IV will say emergency calls only, but I can receive calls and make calls and receive text, ad everything just like had full bars of carrier service.
I guess you were not able to root it?
To know exactly how capable the device is then its necessary take modem logs and let smart people parse it.

Unfortunately not, so this will be going back for refund, I can`t justify spending 1600.00 on phone and not able to root and do with it what I want with it, but there`s always the global version I could go back too, I`m going return it and wait and see if Sony does eventually allow it to unlock the bootloader, until then I`ll just use my Pixel 6 pro for now.

a. there is dual sim support, but you will lose the micosd card, because Sim 2 uses the microsd slot
b. no face unlock and both global and USA version`s the fingerprint readers worked perfect.
Is the 5G SA standalone or NSA only?
Should be both on all versions, USA model difference is mmWave support.
Would also like to know if they finally enabled 5G SA on T-Mobile with this year models.

You can know that without buying phone. Download the firmware with xperifirm, extract modem.img and use ELFextract to extract your hw variants .mbn file. This will reveal the carrier/band policy files (in policyman folder) which live in the modem. There you can see which bands are enabled for specific operators and if they are enabled for SA and NSA.

Thanks for the tip. I got as far as extracting mbn files. I can't seem to find ELFextract tool you've mentioned. I'm assuming this is different than readelf utility.

yeah I had t-mobile then I switched to GoogleFi last month, and wifi calling works perfect, inside my work place service from all carriers suck, since it big steel building, but my Xperia 1 IV will say emergency calls only, but I can receive calls and make calls and receive text, ad everything just like had full bars of carrier service.
