[Guide]How to enable Multi-User mode in CM 11 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This guide can also be used on any rom running 4.2.2+.
Requirements
→Rooted device
→Xposed framework
→A Brain?
This method may not work on stock because stock roms doesn't supports but still you can try it.
There are two different methods of doing this.
METHOD 1:-
JUST download multi-user app from xposed repository and reboot. You will get a option of User under apps.

"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now just tap on it and add or manage users.
METHOD 2:-
In a terminal window or ADB, you’ll need to obtain SuperUser/root access. This is generally done by typing in su. After obtaining SuperUser access, type in:
pm get-max-users
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
This should return the numeric result of “1,” which is the maximum number that the current OS is set up accept. If it returns an error, then your ROM is most likely unable to handle multiple users.
Next, you’ll need to change that number to something higher. In the following, I chose to set it to eight users because I felt like it.
Now type in:
setprop fw.max_users 8
pm create-user usernameyouwanthere
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
You may notice the shell reboot, and if you’re on a ROM build that supports multiple users properly, you’ll either get a login request, or a users section will appear under device in system settings. Depending on your ROM, you might even see an option in the developer’s menu to enable user selection in the power menu.
Keep in mind that this may not work completely or be supported by your ROM, but in some instances it’s quite useful. The worst that should happen is that you have to restore a nandroid, or that the max_users changes back to single-user after a reboot.
★How to make it stick
Inspired by a comment from konnor below, this is how I got the multiple user mode to stick:
Code:
adb shell (if you’re not already, you can use terminal emulator if you want)
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
echo fw.max_users=4 >> build.prop
exit
exit
adb reboot (or reboot the device however you want)
From now on out the max_users will always be there when you boot.
After a reboot, swiping down and pressing my face brings me to the lock screen where all users are displayed. Your results may vary so make sure to have a nandroid backup.
Not my work just posting it in XDA.

FJ Tools, not downloading launchers, S-Voice...

I am running FlappJaxxx' AOSPxXx-v0.6a
When I go into Tools and try to install any of the launchers, Netflix mod or S-Voice, it always responds with "Failed to download / install ... "
Tools can download and install the ad-blocking host file.
I cannot put this in the development thread due to my post count, and I haven't seen any other poster with the same issue so I can only assume that there is something amiss on my end.
Has anybody else encountered this, and have you fixed it?
reflash the rom
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The flashing of the ROM is not the problem, this issue has occurred on every FJ ROM that I tried to download launchers from, whether I try to download them before installing anything else, or later on it the life of the ROM.
Did you try and see if you had the latest update of FJ Tools?
I did,
At the time of writing 'Check for updates' reports v5.5 installed, but didn't return anything for Latest Version Available
I have also tried via WiFi and Mobile Data, so the issue doesn't appear to be with Comcast / My Wireless Network setup or AT&T.
Terminal Session to see if you can get FJ Tools to work
In FJ's original post he does show you how to get to a terminal session to fix this... or something like this...
either way do the following.... do not type anything other than what's after the dash -and hit enter after you type the commands
1. Start a terminal session
2. at the prompt type - su
3. note: This means you are superuser...
4. at the prompt type - fjtool upfjtools
5. go back to the tools section and check version and then if not updated update
If it works... hit my thanks button.
Good luck
I hit your thanks button, because I believe that fix does indeed work...
Thank you....g

It didn't work , but you got my thanks for trying.
Here's a screenshot of the output from the process that you described above

I think that the issue is due to my not yet having any external storage.

[E2333 ] Ads

Hi, I have a problem, I keep receiving subscription ads requests, it seems that it is from my cellphone company, since you can see the sim image in there but I am not sure. This are some examples:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Background info: (running Android 6.01, 26.3.B.0.131)
So I used to be on a cell phone company which had this subcription ads request (Movistar), but I changed to another one which they say they do not have any of that (Tuenti), with the same number, and they are both owned by the same company (Otecel), so maybe some settings from the old operator were kept in the new ones, I have talk and talk and talk with them, and i just keep receiving this ads.
Is Root the solution?
Maybe if root my device, I can disable the sim services app, or I do not know something else, and I would not receive this ads again, or what do you guys recommend me.
Hello, have you tried to 'adb hide' or 'adb disable' the STK apk? No root required AFAIK

No, I have not tried not, because I do not know how to do it, could you please teach me , please noob steps
Sorry for being so late haha.
I'll assume you're using Windows 7 or newer.
Steps:
- Get ADB and proper drivers for your devices (Flashtool ships with all of this)
- Enable dev settings on your phone
- Enable USB debugging. Disregard all warnings
- Connect your Xperia to your PC via USB cable
- Wait for drivers to install
- Open a terminal/command prompt on your PC, point it to a directory where you have an ADB executable (adb.exe) (you can do this by opening the flashtool libs folder, eg: c:\flashtool\x10flasherlib, and right-clicking anywhere on the window while keeping the SHIFT key pressed)
- Issue the following command:
-- adb devices
Your phone should ask for authorization now. Grant it
- Issue the following command(s):
-- adb shell (this gives you access to your device's terminal from your PC)
-- pm disable com.android.stk
If the above command fails, try:
-- pm hide com.android.stk
- You're done
You can avoid using a PC by using a terminal emulator on your device AFAIK. I might be wrong though.

Rooting the Light Phone 2

Hey all!
I have a Light Phone 2 which uses Android 8.1. It's a neat little device that I'd love to tinker with. There is a detailed guide explaining the build process ontop of Android 8.1. The TL;DR is the Light Phone uses LightOS which is another word for an app that site on Android 8.1 that has lower-level access, similar to how the settings app works.
There is a medium post outlining the build process entitled Building LightOS with React Native. I cannot link to it as I do not qualify for the 10 post minimum. So you'll have to google it.
I can get to the Android recovery screen. Although from there I can't do anything. As adb is locked to only sideload and mounting the system produces no results on my Linux machine.
I realize very few people have this device and can comment from experience but does anyone have any idea how to go about rooting this phone? Or getting it to a state to begin tinkering?
Thanks!
@kennethashley
Before starting to try to root phone's Android test whether you can enable these 2 options in Android's Settings -> Developer options:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If YES then you have to find a Custom Recovery matching your device what is prerequisite to flash any Rooting software.

Unfortunately, that is the thing, the phone does not have these settings available. I was hoping there would be a way to do this directly from the recovery menu
@kennethashley You can access the recovery menu by power and volume up at the same time. When you reach the screen that says "no command" press power first, then volume up, then quickly release volume up first then power. There, you should be able to put the phone into recovery mode.
you can then put the phone into fastboot mode and use adb tooling to enable oem unlocking so you can root the device.

Disable Blue Light Filter - Yellow Light Automatical Activation

I've recently faced a terrible and annoying situation and as I found also the solution I've wanted to share it with you.
After coming on and off from Custom ROMS I was in front of the situation that the Blue Light Filter was automatically coming ON even with reading mode completely de-activated from its submenu.
Usually got itself activated on white pages when scrolling web pages without any action from my side. Temporary solution was to manually activate and de-activate the Reading Mode and for a short period the the Blue Filter was de-activated until the first wihte page opened.
I can tell you that this yellow light it's very annoying in the middle of the day.
Tried several solution presented like:
- Factory Reset - no success. It works only if you don't set-up your previous back-ups on your phone, but this is no viable solution for me;
- tried also the solution with Google Play Books - no success;
I remembered that I came from an Realme device (that I regret selling TBH) that had a similar issue inherited from an Oneplus devices, and the solution to fixing the issue was using ADB commands. therefore I am sharing with you this solution in case you are facing same situation.
Sorry if the solution was posted before, but looked everywhere and harldy found it, therefore I save your efforts!
First of all you must have installed ADB Fastboot tools and execute the following commands (no root required, only USB debugging activated).
Open Command Prompt and starting typing:
- type "adb shell" -> ENTER
- type down " settings put secure night_display_activated 0" (without the " character) -> ENTER;
- type again " settings put secure night_display_auto_mode 0 " -> ENTER;
- Restart your phone, either manually or type "abd reboot".
This solves the problem permanently, therefore enjoy freedom!
It doesn't work for me.

Try this again after activating the Security Settings USB debugging mode+ USB installation under the USB debugging in Developer Settings!
it didn't work for me , no errors ; but the problem persists .
if there is anything else to try let me know .

Hi @faceliler
disabling the com.huawei.android.hwaps makes the switching between 90Hz and 60Hz not working. The switch is still under screen settings, but it does not make anything. If you have been on 90Hz mode before disabling it, you will stay on 90Hz. Same in the other way - you will stick on 60Hz mode if you was on 60Hz mode.

Hi, thank you for reporting, I will erase it from the list.
Can i use this without root?
Thanks @faceliler, but...
Why make it harder than it is?
@Cyber.Cat was so kind and built an easy tool for debloating your Huawei over a year ago. He even made a post about it right in this forum:
You can find it here.
And he made some nice updates since then, here's the thread about his program.
No root needed, no annoying package name searching or anything else.
Just mark and delete or only deactivate.
thank you for instructions
