HTC m9 is junk - Sprint HTC One (M9)

Got my Sprint HTC m9 yesterday. I have never been so disappointed in a device in my life. This thing is absolute garbage. Very glad I held onto my m8. First of all, the device FREQUENTLY gets so hot that I don't want to hold it. I'm talking above 45*C (which is the BATTERY TEMP as reported by System Monitor). Secondly, the battery life is utter trash. It is hands down the worst battery life I've ever experienced in a phone. The phone is noticeably less responsive when switching apps as compared to the m8, possibly due to excessive cpu throttling to keep the cpu temperature down. No point in having a faster CPU if you can only run at it half speed due to the heat it generates.
Mod Edit: Removed swearing. I plan on returning it by way of rifling it at the nearest Sprint representative's head at high velocity.

So then I figure I'd root the thing and uninstall all the bloatware. Well using the HTC Unlock method to unlock the bootloader was no problem, but after that you can't even install a custom recovery!!! This seems to be unique to the Sprint variant. I've tried flashing the recovery in both the bootloader and in download-mode and get the following errors respectively:
FAILED (remote: cannot flash this partition in s-on state)
FAILED (remote: 35: SD_PARTITION_NOT_SUPPORT receovery)
[typo above is theirs not mine]

i loaded TWRP on mine without issue. so it definitely works. However there are no roms yet
i Used Windroid Univerisal Android Toolkit to load TWRP and Root.

Wow. The recovery issue is a user error. The snapdragon 810 is NOT faster than the 801 or 805 in clock speed. It's 2 ghz. So no matter what, its a "slower processor." Also, I ran antutu benchmark EIGHT times on a G Flex 2, and it did not warm up, so I'd expect similar results. Maybe you got a bad unit? I'll be able to really weigh in in two days when my device arrives, but it sounds like you're having issues loading twrp, and got a lemon of a device.

OK fixed the problem with the recovery not flashing.
Still stand by my statement that the phone is junk.

maybe you have a lemon. i received my sprint M9 yesterday.

I have to agree. Maybe you did get a bad device. I am having zero overheating issues. My battery life pretty much mirrors the M8 stock. Wait until we get some kernels and s-off then battery will get better.

Heh good luck. The iPads have absolutely no aerodynamics.

Lol hate hate hate hate.....
Glad you have posted your opinion.... One in which no one cares about likely at that...
Had the device for awhile here and it's great... Best build quality, no slowness switching apps at all, sense 7 is awesome overall with the theme options they gave and customization available.
Camera needs tweaking some, as does the display calibration too.
I get no worse battery here and have been using it much harder than my M8.

Lol...so far so good over here too. I'm very happy ?

The OP isn't the Sprint M9 I have in my hands and have used extensively for 2 days.

Hoping to, but won't be until June. I might switch to T-Mo not cause of Sprint, its great at my work and home but cause some of the Bad Seed devs jumped over.
Making some cool clock themes for Sense 7, will be posting in both in m8 and m9 forums when I'm done.

Yup all sprints fault.... Clearly have no clue bud.... HTC spins the updates...
You won't see 1.33 on sprint anyway... It'll be a few revisions past that if I had to guess...
Realize also that all software #s are not the same across carriers... You can't compare the # on sprint to what's on VZ or the world carriers...
Are you new to HTC/Sprint here? Seems you just need to leave and go get an iPhone on VZ at this point.

Junk??? Hmmm I smell rotten apples near by oh wait it's the iPhone he's picking up

About to purchase this phone. How do you guys like it? Is it a good quality device? About to get for one of my family members? Also is the bootloader unlocked? Lol thanks

Bootloader is not unlocked. Those phones are not coming out till about Septemberish.
I love my Thunderbolt. No complaints.

I've had about 12 phones in the last 2-3 years, and the Thunderbolt has been the best phone I've ever owned, development is nuts, not a single problem with it, great performance stock even better rooted/rom'd
I am a recent convert to the Thunderbolt, with a whopping three weeks of ownership.
I originally wanted to support the Sensation on TMobile. But, for various reasons, not the least being the AT&T merger which I suspect will happen (this reducing the quality of TMobile's service, IMHO) and price, I came over to the Thunderbolt and verizon.
Previously I had the Samsung Captivate on AT&T and Evo on Sprint.
It was the commitment and speed of the independent developer community that won me over. The hardware is pretty decent. LTE speeds are extremely impressive when in optimal coverage. Battery is getting better after tweaking the ROM, startup applications and services and usage patterns.
I am definitely happy with it at this time, and upcoming Gingerbread will be very interesting.
Of course, it seems like the Thunderbolt is already being treated as "dated" and something newer and "better" is always around the corner. I would guess that we'll see the $49 price point for new contract in the not too distant future.

It is unlocked...assuming one has the common sense and patience needed to unlock it through the tutorial stickied in the developer's forum (or one can ask detailed questions that don't involve people having to play 20 questions to help the said person). However, it is not unlocked out of the box or through official channels.
My experience only.
I came over because of an accidental drowning of my Incredible. Honestly, I didn't stay with the Inc2 because I knew we had 4g here and I wanted the speed. I also like HTC phones. I also thought the Bolt would be better.Truth is though, after flashing all the ROMS, I still miss my incredible.
The bolt is a good phone. However, I use my phone for business and reliability is key for me. This phone has been nowhere as reliable as my inc. Random reboots before root and the battery issues since rooting. If it weren't for the Development Community for the Bolt, I would have traded back in for something else. I realize there are plenty of things I could do different to get more battery, but I like 4g, sense 3 elements and GB. I'm stuck with it until Feb. 1, so I will make do until then.

Ok so it is unlocked or you can unlock it. Is htc sending out an ota update to unlock the bootloader? I think they are doing it for the sensation sometime mid august. But if you can follow a tutorial and do it yourself. Thats not so bad i guess. Sounds like its a great phone according to all you guys. Was looking at the droid 3 just because it has dual core. But the over all screen and build quality of thunderbolt is so much better im sure. Plus its android

That wasn't what the ??? was about. I believe it was about saying "Plus its android"
since both are android phones, heh.
I've been very happy with the Thunderbolt. The first few days on Android with the phone stock I was extremely disappointed with the battery life. So I went to Verizon and ordered the extended battery. I got home from the Verizon store and started playing with my settings. The next day I thought something was wrong with my battery meter because it was lasting so long but nope, battery life really had improved that much.
One of the biggest things I see among people new to the Thunderbolt is the same problem that I had. I was running 4G enabled and there is no 4G in my area yet. It was eating battery searching for a signal that didn't exist. I typed a few numbers into the dialer and it toggled 4G off, that alone doubled battery life.
The developer support is amazing, there is so much going on right now and the full capabilities of this phone have not even been let off the leash. I was new to Android and I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone before the sim card arrived that Verizon had to mail. It was completely painless.
Someone more familiar with Verizon will have to let you know about what competition is coming in the next six months and if you should wait for it. With what's available right now, I'd definitely choose the Thunderbolt again.
The Tbolt has its quirks, just like any other phone. The battery life isn't the best, but I think the whole issue has been overhyped. You can expect 8-10 hours with the stock rom & battery with 4G always on and typical usage. You can double that time with a custom rom & kernel. You get even more time with the extended battery. I have really enjoyed my Tbolt and I wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe the SGS2 (only if it gets LTE)
Yeah the guy at the verizon store said my family member should get an iphone4 cause the battery life sucks on tbolt. But whatever so what you buy an extended battery. No biggy. Guy at verizon an apple fan. Lol. Trying to make my family members one of the sheep. F_ck apple!!!!!!

After being a long time BlackBerry owner, for the better part of a decade. I switched to the Motorola Pro, to have Android and a physical keyboard, and then a month later while adding a line for my wife, I saw the thunderbolt. Having already used my upgrade, I purchased it at full retail price.
Even with paying a little shy of $600 for this phone, I don't regret it one bit. The only complaint I had was the battery life. After rooting, flashing decent ROMS/kernels, and choosing the right settings, battery life has improved signifigantly. And 4G LTE is the best hands down in my opinion. Plus its nice to be able to talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time, which iPhone can't do on Verizon's 3G.
I'd just get the tbolt if I were you. If you don't like it, you have 30 days to exchange it for a different phone.

This thread strikes me as being similar to walking into the Corvette museum and asking the guys bumming around in there if the like their cars. I've got 3 gripes. First, I have yet to run a ROM on this thing that didn't have some annoying quirk I just had to live with, the LTE coverage and technology still seems to have some kinks that need ironing out, and for whatever reason my digitizer has come loose on the bottom left side and it clicks when I tap the screen sometimes. I'm thinking super glue if it keeps annoying me. The Samsung Charge is the only other one I'd consider, buy no where near the custom development for it.

What is this phone all about???

I gave my wife the evo and got this upgrade since i added her to my account.....like where is the support?

Any reason you didn't post that info in your first post? Without that info - yes, sounded like trolling. Respectfully suggest you provide fact-based info, not just vague emotion, when you start a thread.
What happens when you set "Sprint Only" as your CDMA selection? In my experience, I'd prefer the phone at least acknowledge that it's roaming when the Sprint signal is poor! My Photon often tells me it's roaming when I'm at home (where Sprint signal is weak); my EVO 4G/3D never told me I was roaming but instead would drop calls.
You want a bootup sound? Mine does make a sound when booting - do you have ringer & media volume on? For me - if my phone boots only once every 2 weeks, I'm happy.

Maybe I'm just very different from many of you who are quick to jump on a person if you deem them a troll. I took this post to mean just what he asked.....where is the support? As in how other phones have developers living on the forum.
"It seems to be just another 4g average sprint phone as of now".....I took this to mean that with the little to no mention of the photon, it could very well just be another ordinary phone is sprints arsenal of phones.
I don't think the OP was trolling....he just wasn't as detailed as you veterans.
Wow really...instead of answer the question everyone just calls him names and makes him feel dumb. Weird.
I'll give u my opinion...It took me about two weeks to finally start appreciating how awesome my photon is. It had its kinks and a few things I had to get used to BUT now I love it. It has the fastest google maps I've ever used, the screen is the perfect size, the UI is unique and not so 'kiddish' like the samsung and htc sense are, I could go on.
I will say that the Photon is a harder phone for me to sell at wk people are always going straight to the Evo, but the customers of mine that have gotten the photon are always saying how happy they are with it.
Sent from my Photon on the Now network.
Well if you look in the Dev section, there is plenty of support. we have a custom kernal with overclock. Three ROM's, a CM7 project in the works. So how is that not support? Perhaps it's not as much as the Evo (which is more popular, god knows why) so for what we have, I'd suggest you look around a bit more before making snide remarks with no basis to back it up.
---------- Post added at 07:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 AM ----------
And on a side note. Look how long the Evo has been out, and look how long the Photon has been out. Something else to take into account too.

Take a rooted Evo, add:
extended battery
battery saving mods galore
1.2Ghz OC
FullHDMI/HDMwIn
Evo Desktop PC
and it still falls short of what the Photon does OUT OF THE BOX. This is pretty much the case with every other phone Sprint carries (not sure about the GSII yet as I'm still waiting for mine to come in). Toss in that the core HW is around 6 months old (think Atrix w/ CDMA radios) and is second only to the GSII in performance, it's far from average. Keep in mind that with the core hardware being so very close to the Atrix, we're already using things from Atrix development with little to no changes.
I used the EVO 3d, I prefer the photon over it. The E3d was too small for my liking.

Worth buying 3d Evo?

Hey guys so now there is a great price for this phone in one shop in my country and it's like ~60% cheaper than Galaxy S2, while specifications (RAM, CPU) ain't worse than GS2.
So is it worth buying this phone? I need honest answers, and I really didn't plan to buy a smartphone but this price is sooooo good that I imagine I won't find a smartphone with such specifications in months or years..
So what do you say? I heard big problem is dust under then screen, but is it solvable with phone case?
I would say no one else's opinions matter except yours. People come on here all day long and ***** and moan that they should've went with another phone after buying the EVO 3D, and others come on saying it's the best choice they made. I would say, go try both of them out at the store, make YOUR decision based on that.

absolutely. it is a great devise and has TONS of development support. especially if it is a great price. even though it is now about 6 months old it still holds its own against the new crop coming out. the 3d is my first android phone coming from many years on blackberry and haven't looked back. rooting it allows you to really got the best performance/battery life.
ultimately, it comes down to personal choice. you are going to have people that love and hate it. just my 2 cents...
Well I don't expect it to be like TOP phone in the market, especially because the price is really acceptable. But why exactly people complain about this phone? Is it something wrong with it I don't know?

If you've never owned a smartphone, you won't understand that no one is every truly happy with their phone. There's always something small they want different (which is why rooting and ROM flashing occurs).
eXplicit815, oh then it won't be a problem I guess because I never owned one. I was planning to buy a GS2 this summer, but price was extreme and only now I noticed this one, which does not look really worse than GS2.
So again, how about that dust under the screen? It is possible to avoid that by using a case?

I don't know. I've never had the problem with dust under my screen. I don't use a case either. But I know that if my phone gets dust under the screen, Sprint will either fix or replace my phone for free, no questions asked. I have the insurance plan.

There were issues with this on the HERO and the EVO 4G, but not a lot, if any, have been reported for the EVO 3D. They seem to have fixed the problem. I wouldn't worry about it, because HTC should stand behind it and warranty it directly for you if it does happen.
It's better then gs2.....in every way except speaker and camera....everything else its better and the 3d is amazing...the EVO 3d is super underrated.....
Prolly going to buy it tomorrow, hope price will still be low tomorrow
And what about the screen? This LCD screen is not much worse than SuperAmoled+?
I change oil for a living, and my phone takes a beating, ive never had dust get under my screen, the EVO 3d is an amazing device, you will be happy with it,
Shot from my sharp shooter in 3d
Just watched some comparison videos with GS2 and noticed browser is quite laggy on Evo 3d if the site has a lot of stuff, while GS2 is always perfect. For example on 12:50 -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY7nHi2Lcbg
Wondering is this browser performance going to be improved in the future by updates or is it hardware limiting for Evo 3d? Because overall Evo got similar amount of RAM, CPU and GPU as GS2.
I think it's because Galaxy S2 browser has full hardware acceleration, unlike the Evo 3D one.
It should be closer to GS2 performance once ICS update is out, since it'll add hardware acceleration to the UI and browser.
I even think that some custom ROMs already have hardware acceleration. Correct me if I'm wrong
with all of the development going on (and more to come as it gets ICS) the evo 3D is the best phone out there in my opinion.
make sure you don't get one with hboot 1.5 though... it will make flashing ROMs a ***** for you.

interesting about the huge effects of HW acceleration... i owned my evo 3D at the same time i had the GS2... signal strength was better on the EVO, clarity in phone calls was better, and the browsers both loaded idenctical web pages in eactly the same amount of time.
HW acceleration is overrated and should never be a selling point of a phone.
I bought my phone for the processor, resolution, and ram. I purchased it on launch day because it was king of the dual core qHD pack at the time. I think its a phenomenal phone. It was its flaws, i for one think the radio is a bit weak, and i never use the 3d, but that said, if you've never owned a smart phone and your getting a good price, go pick it up, you will be absolutely amazed with a phone like this. I call it my pocket linux because its my pocket computer
So i say get it!!
Before i replaced it, i shattered my screen, destroyed t, but aside from being hard to read the screen well because of all the cracks, i used the phone just fine for months that way. Its a very sturdy device. And as fas as the sg2 goes, there very similar phones spec wise, so go for price, the evo 3d is a very powerful phone, and i wouldnt dream of trading it for a sg2.
Hope to see ya around here flashin with all of us
I had the Evo 4g and then upgraded to the Evo 3d. My advice would be to get a device that's 4g LTE compatible if you're looking to get one soon. I would say wait and get the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out if you can wait a month or whatever it is. Unfortunately, I'm not in an area that even gets WiMax, Phoenix is on the bottom of the list it seems. But if it were me, I'd get an LTE phone if you plan to keep it for the next couple years, especially if you're in an area that has 4g now. Sprint will be moving to LTE, which means they'll probably limit or stop the WiMax 4g buildout across the states. So unless you're in an area that has WiMax now, you'll probably never get to use the 4g feature unless you travel to some place that has it.
Carrier IQ was a major turn off for me once I heard about what it collects and that the Evo's have it. I'm not even sure with the latest OTA that they released if they got rid of it yet.
I did the Hboot 1.5 root method today and loaded SenselessROM 2.9.5. This is the best thing I've done to this phone and would highly recommend it! Especially with the hacked Sprint Hotspot feature and removal of Carrier IQ. I'm now glad I own a Evo 3d and think this rooting/rom will hold me over until the quad-core Tegra 3 phones hit the market later this year. Then I'll upgrade to a quad-core with LTE technology, since that's the direction Sprint will be going and all other carriers are.
Thanks guys
So how do I check that my phone won't have hboot 1.5? Or is it impossible to check in the phone shop?
I like this phone. I got it back in July had it rooted as soon as it was available and have been ROM hopping ever since. I just bought one for my wife. She thinks it's the best phone yet and she has gone through a lot of different models. An unrooted phone is very quick and responsive. Battery life is ok stock can't wait to see how it is with the new update.

1.5 isn't a ***** at all. You have a whopping one more step you have to do than someone who has 1.40 or lower.
Rom process for 1.40
reboot to recovery
wipe
flash rom
Rom process for 1.50
Flash kernel through flash image gui
Reboot to recovery
wipe
flash rom
The EVO 3D is still a beast, and if you say the stock browser is slow here's some good news man. You dont have to use the stock browser, there's around 8 browsers out there that all have different pro's and cons. My first EVO 3D could be overclocked to 2.0 GHZ. Technically I had a phone running at 4.0 ghz in my pocket and damn near stable. 1gig of ram is awesome. The screen is awesome. I've got a minute amount of dust under my screen but you can only see it when the screen is off. I say go for it.
Edit: If they'll let you see the phone, take the battery out and put it back in. Hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until the screen kicks back on. You should be at a white screen. The text at the top should say Hboot 1.xx.xxxx on the second or third line. Pull the battery out again and you're good to go but tbh it really doesn't matter which one you get. There's ONE limitation to 1.50. You cant change your splash screen, a screen you might or might not see often.
Edit: Actually, where are you from? You might not even have to deal with 1.50 because if you're not in the united states you'll have the GSM version which can be downgraded. It's lengthy but there's a fool proof step by step walkthrough to do it.

Worth Changing to Gnexus?

I have gone through 9 replacements trying to get the right phone over the last couple of months and am getting tired of it, what's everyone's opinion about switching to the nexus? I have to admit CM9* and MIUI are a big plus.
i just got a nexus and i love it, battery life seems alot better too. i will say the design of the rezound is better though.
I traded my nexus for my rezound a while ago and never looked back.
love this phone.
the nex is nice, but sense is what I like, I also found the overall build to be better on the rezound, (usually is with HTC..)
I came from a nexus for 2 reasons... 1) The radios are terrible on the Nexus. In my house, my wife has a Thunderbolt and I had the Nexus. Side by side, she would have 3 or 4 bars of 4G, me on the Nexus, like 2 bars of 3G or 1x. also the build quality is much superior to the Nexus. 2, I Luke the challenge of rooting lol. I had a Rezound before but I never rooted it. Traded for the GNex when it came out. I feel its an overall better experience with my rezound. If Ur looking to easily root and have a plethora of dev support, get the Nexus. If u like better radios and built quality, stick with the Rezound.

I traded my GNex for a Rezound and the only thing I missed was ICS. This was my first Sense phone and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Turns out I really like it. Weird that you've had 9 lemons.. Mine has been flawless

I partially agree although I haven't had the best experience with the build quality on the rezound....
Traded my nexus for a rezound also. Gnex battery life sucks, camera sucks, and the phone is to big to hold in hand.

this(except for the liking sense part ).
i traded my gnex for a dev rezound(and then an s-off method popped up )
ive actually got 2 of them.since i could s-off my first one, i keep the dev phone put up for emergencies.
ive found the rezound to be of the same quality as all other htc phones ive had. i drive for a living, and my phone rides around all day with me,sometimes getting to 120+ degrees if i leave it on the seat in the sun. ive flashed it,s offed it twice, flashed the crap out of it some more, dropped it,and in general abused the crap out of it.
i loved stock ICS and wanted to love the gnex since it it googles proprietary phone, but to me it felt cheap and plasticy.
after 9 phones,i think you are overly critical and should move on to another device that may make you happier.

We have probably 10 rezounds on our corporate account & only one has had to be replaced.
I can't even imagine how you could legitimatelly have 9 defective devices in a row..........

It has happened to me with Motorola phones. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the refurbishment process.

I have NEVER sent a phone back due to pink buttons, no matter how much I dislike them. The first four were when I first got the phone, since I came from a droid charge and was comped this I got a refurb. First one had dead pixels, second one had the hissing audio jack, third one had a giant scratch on the screen, fourth one had a blown speaker, the fifth one was just right. Fast forward five months my "just right" phone would go through an extended and a stock battery in 12 hours, completely stock, never unlocked. I was annoyed and got a replacement. The first replacement was fine for a week and then went nuclear on my battery (literally got so hot that the stock battery bloated (yes I know that means the battery also went bad) It almost did the same thing to my extended as well. Fast-forward to yet another phone and this time battery as well, everything seems fine except for the giant scratch on the screen, I swear ti was in the same spot as the one from five months before. Then the next phone, got it, s-off'd it, working perfectly for two days except for pink buttons but **** it, and then I realized I've never made a call with it. Called my father and sure enough the damn speaker is broken, yes I tried on different ROMS and completely stock just to make sure, I know what a blown speaker sounds like. Now I'm on the ninth phone which seems okay for now but I'm still endlessly frustrated with the damn things. Plus I love MIUI. I just wish the build quality was better on the gnexus and I hate samsung's placement of ****ing buttons. It's like they expect you to have the hands of a 4 year old and be able to hit the awkward side button while it's in your hand.
I think everyone who leaves this phone just to get AOSP is crazy... Eventually it will come. In the meantime, there are lots of great roms to try out in the meantime. If you have other problems, I completely understand. But cmon.... Just for a rom?

I mean it's all about opinion. I could see me leaving a Samsung phone if I wanted sense more or aosp if it wasn't available.
But it sounds like you should give the Gnex a go OP. What's the worst that could happen? You just come back.

i agree completely. im not a sense fan either, but IMO this is still good harware and worth the wait. like you said, lots of great roms in the mean time. scotts dev edition is an awome "best of both worlds" rom with the ICS theme,no sense launcher or widgets, yet the "prettiness" of the stock menu and pulldown. im enjoying it alot.
it helps that i can run a pretty functional cm9 on my sensation while i wait

Completely agree, their bootloader is WAY less fun. At least, if it's anything like the fascinate and the charge it consists of a down arrow with a yellow android that looks pretty while you use odin to flash everything since their bootloader is half-assed.
I also would like to say that I do love our devs, and this is not meant and is not me being frustrated with them, simply my luck with regards to getting a functioning device which has lead to a lot of frustration. Regardless of if I switch I still have another rezound that I have access to and can use whenever so I will still be active in this community... I am simply asking the opinions of people who have or have had both devices (IE Scotty). Hell I would take a shot at deving if I had the time, I have experience with linux and coding in Java and Lua. Anyway I do understand the frustration when people post things like the "HAHA I SOLD MY REZOUND *****ES" thread (my translation of the title) where they seem to be bragging/flaming rather than actually trying to consult the community.
I would like to say I don't particularly appreciate the assumptions that my devices could not have possibly needed to be replaced that many times legitimately. I just have had terrible luck with the replacements themselves, almost all have arrived defective if you read my explanation above. I have never bricked a phone and I'm not particularly fond of some of the stories where people go "ops I bricked it, lawls, hey Verizon my phone is dead send me a new one because I ****ed the damn thing up and enjoy committing fraud."

its a little better than that. you can use fastboot to do a few things, but it was still pretty devoid of any user interface, unlike hboot. radios were flashed in recovery. you unlock it pretty much just like the rezound, with exception that you dont need a token just fastboot oem unlock anhd voila you have access to everything.

JUST bought a Dinc4G!!! :D

Against my own advice of buying a Nexus I am about to buy a Dinc4G off contract and simply because I broke my Dinc2 screen two times in a row...
How is the Dinc4G? Any issues (software or hardware glitches)? I want to ensure that it is a good phone. I know it has great specs, but that is half the story. The other half is living with it (and I learned from my experience with the Droid X2 and Transformer prime)..
So any issues at all? Or is it smooth sailing?
EDIT: OMG! I bought the phone!
Now please god, let me make up some of that cash from the Dinc2 sale.

i would say smooth sailing, well the sdcard thingy, but the only problem i have had is waiting for root.
I like mine. It's noticeably faster than the Incredible 2. I bought a 64GB SDCard from Amazon for $44.
I think you'd like it. S off is coming. I liked the og Inc better than my Inc 2 and the 4g reminds me of the first incredible. And you already know the devs are good ones.
---------- Post added at 04:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:18 PM ----------
One thing is my first 4g had about 10 dead pixels so I got a new one. The new one has some of the back light bleeding from the bottom bezel though but that's nbd to me
the form factor is closer to the og inc than inc2 (though not *That* different)
i have no complaints with mine, and plan on keeping it for a long time...even when the dlx/dna launches (ill just swap sims when i want use one or the other)

Hold on a sec! You said what now about SD cards? I guess it shouldn't be major issue but I'd like to hear moar!
I am about to finalize the deal and I don't wanna over think this. Yes, I was an idiot to drop my Dinc2 and crack the screen for a second time, and it cracked easily since I probably didn't install it properly first time around. And yes, it is gonna be expensive to go off contract, but anywho... i hope the resale value for the Dinc4G is good ones my upgrade comes around.... :/
Man, do I know how to waste good money . Anyway gang, I will shortly join you and we can continue our crusade of the missing OTA update for Key Lime Pie... (4.2, I guess, ain't it!)
Welcome back to the land of Dix! Thanks all! I hope I don't mess up my future phones like this... It is only after you drop and break a phone you realize that you have to treat these devices like babies... Don't Drop Them!
Personally, I like mine but the build quality has been questionable. I took my first one back after a day of use because the screen was discolored, used the next one for about a month with a creaky battery cover before a crack started forming at the headphone jack, and finally the one I have now seems acceptable. The only design annoyances I've found are that the camera lens clicks as it focuses (bad for video) and the buttons don't have much feedback. Reception could be better, but it generally works fine.
Other than that, good software, good screen, good battery life.

the sdcard issue is the internal sd, will not let you transfer apps to the extsd, but root might cure that, not sure. i think all the new phones have this issue as well.

This. Check out the original thread about the issue:

I swapped out my DInc4G twice with Best Buy because of the screen discoloration issue. The last phone I received from Best Buy had the same issue and HTC was kind enough to exchange my phone for a new one. I'm currently on my third DInc4G. All was fine until a month ago when the screen discoloration appeared on my current phone. I may contact HTC again but I've been busy and don't feel like going through the hassle of setting up my phone again.
I haven't experienced any other issues with the phone. The battery life is great compared to my OG DInc, and once we get s-off, it will be an even better phone.

Haha, damn. I just bought it. Anyway, sounds like the screen discoloration issue is primarily due to the glue not having fully cured and all? And I was guessing this has solid build quality. Well, you always have a few bad ones, but I wonder if I activate a Dinc4G on my line and I have issues down the road, can I do a Certified replacement from Verizon?

YEAH! I just got mine and already very happy. The 4G is the first thing to blow my mind! It is better than the WiFi speed I get at my room (though right next to the router, I should get exceptional WiFi)!
Now, get me up to speed, y'all! Is it okay to update to the latest OTA? And do we have root? Or should I just wait till the S-OFF rather than root it now? :cyclops: :fingers-crossed:
